It had been two whole days since Adam had to start disappearing from Turo and Teela. Getting away from Turo was easier than Teela but now she was teaching him all of his tricks for not being found. He-man had been called for late in the afternoon and Adam missed dinner. He was heading back to his room after getting something to eat from the kitchen and saw Teela in the hallway. She did not look happy, he waited for his berating.

"Where have you been, we have been worried about you." Teela started into him. "We checked all your usual places and could not find you. Your mother was sure you were alright but I was not that sure, you left so quickly. I can understand you wanting to get away from me after the way I have treated you these last few years, but Turo is different."

He wasn't sure he had heard her right. What started out as angry ended up as a plea. His heart went out to her, she thinks he disappears because of her. Now he had to figure out how to make her understand without giving his secret away. "Teela I'm sorry I left, but it was very important I went. It has nothing to do with you."

Teela was relieved a bit, at least he did not hold anything against her. "I've asked you this before Adam and you've never given me a direct answer, why do you run from battles?" Her eyes pleading with him for an answer.

It's been so long that she has asked that question, Adam almost gave her the standard answer of 'I can't tell you'. But his new found feelings for her had him thinking in a new direction. "It's a secret." He whispered so softly she moved closer to him to hear more. " I want to tell you, I do, but I can't."

Hearing those words from him confused her, but the way he said them meant more to her. He was being honest and trustworthy, things that she always admired in him. Her breathing started getting deeper, their bodies were so close right now. His eyes were searching her face looking for acceptance, she raised her right hand and put it on the side of his face. "After all these years you still can't trust me?"

"It's not a matter of trust, it's to keep you safe." She was so close, nothing else mattered to him right now. She began to shake her head side to side in denial, he placed his hands on either side of her face and stilled her movements. "I would never place you in jeopardy over my own life."

Tears were forming in her eyes, "Tell me you will be safe. Even if it's a lie."

"I can't lie to you anymore Teela." With that statement he closed the small gap between the two of them and kissed her. He kissed her firmly at first to chase away her tears but then she reciprocated. There was no going back now, he grasped her around the waist and kissed her with all his pent up frustrations. He wanted to keep her safe in his arms, away from Skeletor and his goons, hell he wanted to keep her away from the courtiers also.

At first she felt butterflies in her stomach, then the fire roared in her. Adam was kissing her, not a friendly kiss but a kiss that meant to show he cared for her. Her arms made their way around his shoulders never wanting to let go because she felt safe in his arms. The euphoria was overwhelming her, but she didn't want it to end.

"Adam!" Came the shout from down the hallway.

It broke the illusion of them being alone that he had, he slowly pulled away from Teela's lips. Her mind not registering that they were being interrupted he still held her tight to steady her. He looked to the offending voice and could see his parents coming towards them. Their faces in conflict of what they were witnessing. There would be no talking his way out of this one, even if he wanted to try. He turned back to Teela softly speaking, "Teela, my love, we are not alone."

When he stopped kissing her she didn't care, he held her so safe and lovingly she would stay that way forever. When he said 'my love', her heart did somersaults. When he said they were not alone, she got confused, then she remembered they were not supposed to be kissing like this. She steadied herself and looked to the Royal couple, preparing for the onslaught of questions.
