Chapter 15
Saturday morning felt surreal. They had such a big day going on but could enjoy some time just snuggling in each other's arms. They both admitted that they both were a little nervous but excited nonetheless. They got up and got dressed and went downstairs for a delicious brekky. On the way back up they stopped in John's office and gave him the cards for the people at the check-in desk, the cards that said brunch was at 11 Sunday morning in the drawing room for each of the suites, the list of which flowers went to which hotel rooms, which flowers went on the reception tables and which flowers were for the brunch tomorrow. They also gave him the 2 place cards for Marie and Seth explaining that they should both go onto Marie's chair. They also gave John a copy of the requested song list to give to Shawn, the DJ. John was happy to have everything early. He told Rory he would have her flowers put in the room she was meeting Luke in. Finn's boutineer would be going to the other room. John was also going to go to the honeymoon suite at approximately 1pm to get the gift baskets. He would have them displayed at the reception area like they talked about. They thanked John and went back to their room.
Once in their room they got the speeches, vows, and sand paragraphs put in the envelope and Finn put it in his suit jacket pocket. They both quickly checked their emails to make sure no one was looking for them and there were no emergencies. There weren't. Finn called Joe and he promised Finn all the limos were on their way to the prospective places and to not worry and enjoy his day. Finn thanked Joe for making this seamless for them.
Rory and Finn then cleaned up their room and put everything they didn't need away. Finn packed up this computer. They figured whatever they didn't need was going to go into the smaller suitcase and go into the Escalade to go back to their place. Finn went to the safe and got out the necklace he bought for her and gave it to her.
Rory started crying.: Finn now this is too much. You spoil me too much.
Finn: Please don't cry kitten. I could never spoil you enough. I thought you might like to wear it with your dress today. I saw it in Chicago and fell in love with it. You deserve to be spoiled rotten. I am going to put it back in the safe for now. You know the code to get it later. I am sure Diane can help you put it on if you want.
Rory: How is the Escalade getting back to our place? Are we driving it back home?
Finn: I thought I would ask da to drive it back to our place and for their limo to follow them before bringing them home. As you saw it's a quick trip to the apartment from here. I would even be willing to bet da would be holding the keys for us to have dinner together with them and maybe even your mom and Luke when we get back. I could even see them picking us up. If not Joe will have a car come get us from the jet.
Just so you know I arranged for the limos to come back and pick everyone up at 3 pm. Your mom, Luke, da and mum's limos are coming at 8 and I pushed back our departure time till 9. I arranged for us to have dinner with the 6 of us at the chef's table Sunday night with a 4:30 reservation. I thought it would be nice for everyone to get to know each other in a little less formal environment before we leave for 3 weeks. The other two limos would pick mum, da, Lorelai and Luke up at 8. I know it will make for a longer day for them but I thought it would make everyone feel better that they all got to know each other. I did not make a card for dinner. I thought we could just tell them ourselves and this way Emily couldn't try to horn in on it. Sorry I just don't trust that lady.
Rory: Oh I love that idea. Maybe we should ask if your dad should take the truck back to your house when everyone else leaves. I guess then we would have to figure out how to get him back, scratch that idea. You are spoiling me with this chef's table. The food is so delicious. I had such a fun time last night. I do feel bad that we don't have a basket for Seth though.
Finn: Hold that thought. And don't worry I have plans to give him a huge tip for tonight. Actually here in the safe is an envelope for Diane. I told her that if she could come help you put on your dress that I would make it worth her while.
Finn gets his computer and turns it on. He checks the tickets he already bought for Wicked and sees his seat assignments. The two seats to the right of the group he already bought are still available so he quickly buys them too.
Finn: Ok we may not have a basket for him but we can give this print out to him. I was able to snag the two seats that were available to the right of the ones I already purchased so they will be able to come with us.
Rory: Oh that would be perfect. Thank you for my beautiful necklace. Thank you for a beautiful wedding day. Thank you for taking care of me and everything you did. I couldn't imagine a better day. I know I don't say this enough but I love you. I am so in love with you. I can't wait till 6pm and I can make you my husband. You are my everything. You are my soulmate.
Finn: Now you are going to make me cry. You are my everything as well. You make me a better person. You make me a better man. You take care of me in your own unassuming ways. I am honored to be your husband and I can't wait to make you my wife. I love you with all my heart. Wow it sounds like we just said our wedding vows.
Finn: Ok seeing as it is 10 to 12 I think I should pack my computer back up quickly and then we should head over to the spa.
Finn quickly packed up his computer and put the printout of Wicked tickets in an envelope and put it in his suit jacket. They they walked hand in hand to the spa. Once their they checked in and Finn gave Rory a kiss before she was being taken away to start her treatments.
Finn: I will be the one waiting at the end of the aisle for you. I love you.
Rory: I will be the one walking up the aisle. The next time I see you we will be with our family and friends getting married. I love you and can't wait to become your wife.
Rory truly felt like a wet limp noodle after her 2 hour massage. She enjoyed her spa shower and she picked a French manicure with light pink polish for her hands and toes. She was just about to have her makeup and hair done when Diane came into the room she was in.
Diane: First, Rory, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Diane and I am the manager of the spa who is going to help you get into your wedding dress. I thought I would also stay with you and we could just talk after you get ready. Make the time go faster if that would be ok.
Rory: I would appreciate that. You are too kind. I am nervous so anything to help pass the time would be appreciated. I do have a necklace I would also need your help to get on me.
Diane: I am yours for whatever you need. We do have a situation that I need to make you aware of. There is an older lady at the front desk who is harassing my receptionist who has the same last name as you. She keeps yelling at Tonya, my receptionist that her name is Emily Gilmore and that she demands to have her hair done. Finn explained to me that no one knows you are getting married today. I think it might be safer for you and to not ruin the surprise if I had Sally and Debra go with you up to your suite. They can easily do both your hair and makeup there. No one will be the wiser. Would this be acceptable to you?
Rory: Oh my god that bitch just doesn't quit. So sorry, I guess I can say oh my god my grandmother is a piece of work. Yes whatever you think would be best. Does John or Finn know what is going on?
Diane: Both of them do and John should be coming now to take care of her. I just don't want to put you in a weird place. Right outside the door is Sally and Debra and we can all go up to the suite using the service elevator if that is ok.
Rory: More than acceptable. Thank you for getting me out of the line of fire.
The four of them walked out the back of the salon with their train cases and followed the hall to the service elevator. Once inside they made their way to the honeymoon suite.
Rory: Thank you to all three of you for being so flexible today. I can't believe the nerve of my grandmother. I was seriously thinking of going low contact or very low contact with her. You wouldn't believe it but she called my fiancé 7 times to offer her help with the wedding over a 3 week time frame. We both hate her affairs and her taste. She got more and more pushy everytime she called to the point that Finn, my fiancé, said on Monday that if she called him again he would be cancelling their car for today and calling his attorney to file harassment papers. I honestly think she is really crazy. Now I think Finn and I are going to have some major talking to do about her.
Sally: I am going to be one doing your hair and maybe this might make it easier as well as I can see the dress. Please don't let her ruin your day or your wedding. It sounds like you and your fiancé have worked really hard to make today be everything you would like. I would hate for anyone to take that joy away from you.
Rory: I have pictures of me in it if that would help. I am not looking for anything very fancy. It is a little bit more revealing than I would have normally picked out but it looks amazing on.
They walk into the honeymoon suite and Rory goes and gets her phone and shows Sally the pictures but also goes to the front hall closet and takes it out to see the color in person.
All three of them gasp. Sally: Now I understand what you are saying. This dress is beautiful.
Rory: And to think it was the second one that I tried on and was on sale. Never did I think I would find my dress in less than an hour. I am not wearing a veil or a tiara. Neither of them looked right. I don't want to take away from the back of the dress so I was thinking maybe a French braid or a bun and some tendrils curling around my face. What are you thinking?
Sally: Oh I agree I wouldn't want you to lose the back of your dress and I also think if it was off your neck it would be cooler for you as well. I know when I got married last year I was so nervous and it helped to have the hair off my neck. I think this dress was made for you in mind.
Debra: Oh I agree. I love your dress. Ok am jealous as I could never fit into anything like that. That dress was waiting for you. What are you thinking about your makeup?
Before she could answer Diane cut in and said: If it is ok with you ladies I am going to leave you all for a couple of minutes and go check on the spa and check in with John.
Rory: Thank you for everything. I am sorry my crazy grandmother was making a scene.
Little did Rory know that John was down in the spa. John had spoken to Finn. Finn called Richard and said.: Richard it's Finn. I understand you made it to the event. And the reason I know you have gotten here is Emily is currently in the spa yelling at the receptionist demanding that they do her hair.
Richard: Oh shit. Sorry for my language. I am on my way. That's crazy. I thought I finally put an end to all of this. Thank you for calling me. I will deal with all of this right now.
Richard quickly heads downstairs to the spa. When he gets there he hears Emily.
Emily: I just don't understand how hard it would be to have one of the people standing over there do my hair. What is wrong with you. Can't you do anything right. Are you incompetent at your job? I can have you replaced. Why do you keep staring at me? Just do your job and find me an appointment. Do I need to ask you to get your manager?
Tonya: Mame as I have explained to you 3 times now. The spa is booked; we have no open appointments for today. The two ladies that are standing there are massage technicians. They are unable to do your hair. I would appreciate it if you would stop yelling at me.
Richard walks in the door with John coming to stand next to him. Richard turns to the receptionist and takes out his wallet and takes out $100 and gives it to the receptionist says: I am very sorry for my wife's outburst. She had no reason to talk to you or anyone else this way. Please take this money as an apology from me.
Tonya tried to refuse the money but Richard wouldn't hear it. Richard turns to Emily and says: Apologize now.
Emily: I will not apologize. This lady is incompetent at her job. She should be fired.
Richard getting more and more irate: I said apologize now. This lady is trying to do her job. She doesn't need to be yelled at by you. She has done nothing wrong. Just because you decided that you would like to have your hair done does not give you the right to yell at her when she tells you that they are all booked up for the evening. What time do you close tonight? Just out of curiosity.
Tonya: We close at 5pm tonight. The lady who does hair has already left for the evening as her last appointment finished at 4. So even if I wanted to help your wife I have no one here that would be able to. I am sorry about that.
Emily: Well that's ridiculous. How do you know someone off the street wouldn't come in wanting an appointment. Tell me her name and I will see about getting her fired. She should have stayed till 5pm.
John steps forward and turns to Tonya.: Thank you Tonya. You have done nothing wrong and will not be fired. Actually come see me when you get a chance on Monday as I think you are due a raise.
Emily: What. She is incompetent at her job and should be fired not given a raise. Tell me your name and I will have you fired too. Do you know who I am?
John: I know exactly who you are Emily Gilmore. I also know you are a guest in the hotel I manage. You have been invited here at the request of the event coordinator. I have spoken to the event coordinator and if you continue this outburst I have been told to tell you to pack your bags and to leave this hotel and you will not be welcome at tonight's event.
Emily: That's ridiculous. I have done nothing wrong. This lady, Tonya did you say is incompetent and rude and needs to be fired. Not given a raise.
John: If anyone here has been rude it has been you. Why do you think it's ok to talk to people like that. Tonya is a great employee. This hotel has recently gone under a huge renovation including the spa. The spa has only been open for 3 weeks and many people do not even know the hotel is open again. But I do not have to explain anything to you. You are a guest of the event. You are not a key player in the event. You have been downright rude to me and to my staff. I have half a mind to have you pack your bags and kick you out of my hotel.
Richard: Emily I said apologize now. You have been rude to these people here and none of them deserve it. I do believe that the hotel manager, I am sorry I didn't catch your name is well within his power to ask you to leave his establishment. I can not even begin to believe that you thought it was ok to talk to people this way. You should be ashamed of yourself. Apologize or I am going to ask the hotel manager to have a car service called for you and you will be going back home. Mess with me and I am done with everything.
Emily knew she had been beat and she grumbled: I guess I owe you an apology but I still say I have done nothing wrong.
Richard: That's not a real apology. Say it like you mean it.
Emily: I apologize. I was wrong. Nothing I ever do is right or good enough. I thought you would like me to look nice for tonight. I guess I am mistaken.
John: My name is John and I do think that apology was half assed but I also think it was the best Tonya is going to get from you. Now let's step out into the hall. (They all walk about into the hall). Like I said earlier I have spoken to the event coordinator and he has advised me that I am well within my powers to ask you to pack your bags and leave this hotel. I also know that tonight is a once in a lifetime event and I would hate to have you miss it. So this is what I am going to do. I am going to leave you Mrs. Gilmore in the care of your husband who I do believe feels quite embarrassed by the way you are acting. I will tell you this though you have this one final chance. I am fully aware of your harassment of the event coordinator. If I see or hear of another outburst by you I am well within my rights to have you removed from my hotel and I can even have the police come to arrest you.
Richard: That will not be necessary will it Emily?
Emily: No it will not be necessary.
John: Ok then I suggest you go up to your room. You should still have time to do your hair and get changed before you are due at the conservatory at 6pm sharp.
Richard: Thank you John. I will make sure Emily stays under my control. I am truly sorry for any hurt or problems that she may have caused.
John nodded and Richard took Emily forcefully by the arm to the elevators back to their suite.
Emily: Could you please let go of me, you are hurting me.
Rich: Act like a spoiled brat you will be treated like a spoiled brat. No more. I am done. No wonder we can't keep a maid. You probably talk to them the same way you just did Tonya. Now you will get changed, do your makeup, your hair and anything else you want as long as you do not leave this suite. You will not embarrass me again tonight or this weekend. I had to bring you to work with me all week so you could be watched like a child. Now it appears that I have to do the same thing tonight. What the fuck were you thinking? Why do you think you have the right to talk to people that way. What were you going to do, yell at the receptionist so she would do your hair. Why when she said sorry we don't have any availability why wasn't that enough. You could have said thank you anyway and left instead you carried on like a crazy person. Do you not think your outburst in the spa isn't going to get back to Finn and his family. Are you deliberately trying to get me fired or us blackballed from society? You know what I don't care anymore. One more outburst from you and I will be asking for a divorce. You have shown me time and time again in the last 3 weeks that you have your own agenda and want what you want no matter who you have to steamroll to get it. You are not the person that I married. I have no idea who the fuck you are. Now it is presently 4:32. We need to be at the conservatory promptly at 6pm. I suggest you take the next hour and 15 minutes to get ready. We will be leaving here at 5:50 to be there on time. If you are not ready we still will be going in whatever state of dress that you are in.
Emily: You can't be serious. How is this all my fault? We spent almost 3 hours in a limo getting here. I just thought it would be nice to get my hair done.
Richard: You just don't get it. Yes we spent almost 3 hours getting here. Yes we had no idea where we were going when we got into that waiting car but a large part of tonight and this weekend and event are the mystery of said event. As I have said before what is the worst it could be a bad night out, bad food and a bad overnight stay. Well I can tell you that I no longer have to worry about the overnight stay part. This room is beautiful and seeing how beautiful the room is I think it will not be a bad night out either. I guess I am just having a problem with the way you talk to people. You were berating the receptionist at the desk because she had no open appointments. Again what was she supposed to do? It's almost as if you expected her to either make someone do your hair out of thin air or was she supposed to do your hair? When have you become such a conceited bitch. Why do you think it's ok to talk to people like that. And you were going to try to get the receptionist and John the hotel manager fired because of what? That they couldn't get a person to get your hair done. I have seen you do your hair by yourself many hundreds of times over the years. So what was this just a way to vent out your frustrations that someone else could have picked a nice hotel to have the event without your help. Actually I think that's exactly what it is. I think you had it in your head that this event would flounder without your help and that when we got here you would see the place is a dump and they would need your help. Hate to break it to you but the place is beautiful. You just can't handle not being in charge or being the center of attention. I can say that I have a feeling that in a hotel this beautiful, the event will also be beautiful. Face it you have been pushed aside and Finn and the event coordinator do not want or need you help. I also think you were trying to push your way into the spa trying to learn something about tonight so you would be included. It is not your event. You were never going to be included. Give it up. You are pushing into your time. It is now 4:45 and we will be leaving here in 1 hour and 5 minutes no matter what state of dress you are in. We will not be late.
Emily: Yes, I will admit that I honestly hoped this place would be a dump so I could say I told you so to Finn and the event coordinator. This room is nice. Not sure it is my taste. It is nice. You are also right that I desperately want to be included. I feel I have a right to be included. I don't know what I have done that is so terrible that Finn and the event coordinator will not let me help. I have thought about it a lot this week in your office. I guess I am just having a very hard time not getting what I so desperately want. I have always been able to push people into doing what I want and this is the first time in a long time that I remember that I am unable to do just that. Now I am going to go do my hair, makeup and get dressed so we can leave on time.

After Emily and Richard left John went to the room Finn was getting ready in and spoke with him.
John: I just want you to know that I just left Mr and Mrs Gilmore and that problem has been taken care of. Everything is good to go. She understands that if she has one more outburst she will be escorted out of this hotel. I have also spoken to Diane, the manager at the spa. Rory has been brought back up to your suite and Sally and Debra are doing her hair and makeup as we speak. They both have volunteered to stay with Rory to keep her company. I hope it's ok with you that I agreed to that.
Finn: Oh course it is ok. I would like to be able to give them both some extra tips for doing just that. You all have gone above and beyond what has been expected of you. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will also say if Emily has another outburst at the wedding or reception please let me or Richard deal with it. I can also see my father deal with her too. The fireworks would be fantastic to watch.
John: We will do whatever you want. Just say the word and security will be there. Thank you for taking care of the security for tonight. I am going to send my assistant Adam in to help you with your boutonnièr as well as I thought you could use someone to talk to to keep your mind off of everything else tonight. Everything is going to start in about 45 minutes.

Meanwhile back in the honeymoon suite Sally got started with Rory's hair. They decided for a bun updo with a braid that wrapped around the bun with soft curly tendrils around her face. It looked beautiful and Rory was very happy how her hair came out.
Debra next got to work on doing her makeup. Since Rory normally did not wear a lot of makeup Debra decided to go for the less is more look. When her makeup was done Rory went into the bathroom to look. The girls followed her. Debra, my makeup looks amazing. Now from here and the many mirrors I can see the braid in the back. It looks terrific. Thank you Sally.
Diane appeared a minute later.: Thank you ladies for helping Rory and moving about the hotel. It was in everyone's best interest. Rory I do believe there is something mentally wrong with your grandmother. Sorry just my opinion. That situation has been taken care of. John took care of it and your grandparents are still here for the event tonight. Oh how I love your hair and makeup. I had an idea that I think we should do. I think Rory we should take you and your wedding dress and shoes down to the suite by the conservatory. We are going to go in the back way using the service elevator so no one will see you. The service area is not as clean and I would hate to get something on your dress or shoes. I hope you understand . Once you are in the room Debra, Sally and myself will help you get your dress on. We thought we would stay with you for the ½ hour and keep your mind busy by just talking would that be acceptable?
Rory: That would be more than acceptable. Everything is in the front closet. I just have to put my dress back in the bag. Thank you all for everything you have done or will do tonight. Hold on one minute please.
Rory went quickly to the safe and opened the envelope Finn had left there. Inside was $600. She took the envelope out and her new necklace and closed the safe. Then she quickly went to the front closet and put her dress back in the bag..
Rory: Ok before we leave I have something for each of you. Please do not argue. You will not win. All three of you have gone above and beyond anything I could ever ask for you to do today. (Rory hands them each $200). Please take this money and go do something nice for yourself with it. No paying the rent or anything like that.
Debra: This is too much and not necessary. We were happy to help today.
Sally: I can't accept this. It is too much. Today has been a mystery and I have loved every moment of it. I love mysteries.
Diane: Thank you but this really is not necessary. We all were just doing our jobs.
Rory: It is necessary. Diane, you had to deal with my crazy grandmother. Debra and Sally had to pack up their whole stations and come through the back way and you all are willing to come stay with me as my nerves are shot right now. Now I will not take no for an answer. My dress is all packed and I am willing to follow all of you as I have no idea where we are going. First could one of you put my necklace on me so I can leave the box up here.
Debra gets up and takes the box and opens it and gasps.: Oh my god. This is beautiful. What a pretty necklace. Now this isn't a dime store purchase.
Rory: Thank you Finn bought it for me in Chicago. He saw it in a store and thought I would like it.
Debra: Ok I have a question and I promise your answer won't leave this room.
Rory: Ok
Debra: What is the full name of the person you are marrying?
Rory: James Finnegan Patrick Morgan the second but he goes by Finn Morgan.
Sally: Holy shit. Your fiancé is one of the ten most eligible bachelors in the country. Now I understand why everything has been so secretive and a mystery. I won't say a word to anyone I promise. Thank you for letting me be part of this mystery.
Debra: Me too. But I will be happy to say I have enjoyed meeting you. You are really down to earth.
Sally and Diane both at the same time: Me too.
Diane: Ok let's get going and get you down to the bridal suite.
Rory grabs her dress and shoes and follows Diane, Sally and Debra through the back ways of the hotel they get to the bridal suite. They went in to find her flowers waiting there for her. Rory looks at the clock and realizes it is 5:20. She quickly goes to the bathroom and puts on her thigh highs. The dress has a built in bra and with the cut so low in the back she is not sure she will be able to wear underpants. She decides to leave on her underpants and walks it to the bridal suite in just her button down top and thigh highs and underpants. Debra takes her dress out of the bag and Rory steps into it. Once she pulls the top up and under her shirt she unbuttons her shirt and removes her arms. Debra is easily able to fasten the beaded enclosure on her back. They look at the back from all angles and all 4 of them decide that yes it is low but that her underwear does not stick out. Sally opens the shoe box and swoons over her shoes. She helps Rory put them on.
Rory looks at herself in the mirror from all angles and decides this is the best it's going to get.
Rory: Thank you all for all your help to get me into my dress. Hair, makeup and dress together. Everything looks amazing. (Rory looks at the clock and it is 5:50).My stepdad Luke should be here any time now. He may start crying. Remember no one has any idea what they are doing here.
Debra grabs Rory's jeans, socks and shirt and bra and puts them in the bag her dress was in. She put her shoes in the shoe bag.
Diane: I can have your dress bag and shoes brought back up to your room if you would like.
Rory: No bother. Finn and I can stop here to get it when the party's over. I am sure he probably has his everyday clothes too.

Right next door Finn was dressed in his new suit. He was grateful that Adam was there to help him with his boutonnièr.
Finn: Ok, about 10 More minutes to go. Do you think you could go out and talk with John and ask him to come get me or should I say us as soon as everyone is there and Luke is with Rory.
Adam: I believe that's what he was thinking but I can go make sure for you.
Adam left and spoke with John. Adam: John said there were already people here. They were waiting for Francine Hayden and Luke and Lorelai and then they would be all set.
Adam relayed that information on to Finn and he was happy to hear everything was going according to plan. Seth knocks and walks in.
