"Pete?" I called out to the small figure in the corner. His shoulders shook like he was sobbing. I hesitated in reaching out to him. But my desire to help was too strong and outweighed my desire to live. I crouched down behind him pulling him away from the wall to face me. He didn't protest, so I quietly whispered "Peter, what's wrong bud?"
"M-may's g-gone," he answered. I took a deep breath, I knew the close bond Ms. Parker and Peter shared. I knew I couldn't understand his pain fully but at some level, I could. So, I wordlessly pulled him into a hug.
Then the door was thrown open and Tony Stark ran into the room. Peter seemed to realize the position he had got himself into and shimmied away from the embrace. He stood up to his full height, leaving me on the floor sitting with my legs crossed. The tearful teen held out his hand and helped me up.
He left as soon as I was standing on my feet. "God! Tony is it true?" I asked quietly. The billionaire nodded with a sigh "Yeah, cap you know I owe you big time for you know helping the poor boy out," He answered. "Well, you've done enough for me. But… I want to ensure that the team doesn't break up again. So friends?" I asked. "Friends," he answered with a smirk. I turned back to my bed and bent over to retreat my shirt. Then I reached over for the glass near my bedside
Tony was about to leave when he stopped and leaned against the doorway. "You sure Elsa and you weren't fonduing last night?" he asked silently. I choked on my water as he chuckled quietly.
An hour later, Tony and Pete were dealing with planning the funeral for May and trying to figure out where the teen would live. The team was betting on how soon Tony would adopt Peter and I was eating breakfast with bucky. Both of us had slept in and were catching up on what had happened.
"James?" nat called to bucky all of a sudden. He was clearly amused to hear his actual name for once but he walked over to her with his cereal and they started talking in hushed tones and after a bit, Wanda joined in.
I was kind of concerned but continued eating my food.
