As Andy walking into Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital with Victoria arm intertwined with her own, all of the unwanted memories of her treatments that she had here flooded her mind. There was a cold gray cloud that covered the entire place and it brought chills to her spine. The only thing her mind allows her to see when she enters those automatic doors of this place is the image of her being restrained in the psych ward for fourteen days. She saw the medicines they pumped her with. The look of judgment from the immature teenagers at SAAS. The multiple posts on the toxic app about her. That's what she saw.
Andy dreadfully approached the nurse's station as Andy looked around to be sure that neither of the Dr. Sullivans were around.
"Hey Andy, can I help you?" Nurse Carla asked putting down the phone that was once held up to her ear.
"Hi, Ms. Carla, I was wondering if you could page Dr. Grey or Dr. Pierce for me please?" When Andy was admitted for treatments the two sisters were always there for her even though it was not there case. They became a friend to Andy and she trusted them.
"Are you okay?" She asked and Andy nodded.
"Yes ma'am, I just need to talk to either of them right now. If they are busy can you get Dr. Bailey?"
Carla nodded and Andy turned to Vic.
"You know every doctor by name?" Vic asked.
Andy looked away slightly and cleared her throat"Uhm.. yea. They're really good friends with my parents." She said but she wasn't lying, they were.
Vic nodded and Andy turned to the desk again.
"Any luck?"
"Yes, there is Dr. Grey right there." She said pointing behind them.
Andy turned around, spotting her and walked towards her.
"Herrera?" Meredith asked. "You paged me? Is everything okay?"
"See, I'm really sorry to take you away from you usual job, but I need to talk to you and I'd really like to not be seen by either Dr. Sullivans." Andy said in one breath.
"Yes, of course. Come on. Is everything alright." She asked walking into an unoccupied conference room.
"We're teenagers, nothing is ever alright." Andy said closing the door behind her. "This is my friend Victoria. I need a pregnancy test." She said getting straight to the point.
Andy didn't realize how wrong that came out of her mouth as she saw Meredith's eyes almost pop out of the much needed sockets.
"You?" Meredith asked. "Need a pregnancy test?"
"What? No... She does. I would really like to keep this on the downlow too. My school is gossip central." She said.
"Yes, of course, we have to go to an actual room to do that."
Andy and Vic turned around at the sound of the door opening.
"Herrera? Carla told me you were here." Maggie Pierce said. "How are you? Is everything Okay?" She said coming over to her quickly reaching for the light pen in her lab coat, shining it into Andy's pupils. Andy giggled and move the bright light away from her.
"I'm fine Dr. Pierce, this is my friend Vic."
"Hello, Vic." She said.
"Vic, this is Dr. Grey she is Chief of General Surgery and and Dr. Pierce she's Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery. They're sisters."
"Wow, your mother must be really proud." Vic said.
"She's dead." Maggie and Meredith said in unison.
"Oh." Vic said frowning. "I'm sorry."
"You're fine, honey." Maggie said.
"Let's get you to a room."
"Wait, what's wrong?" Maggie asked still out of the loop as she followed them to an emergency room across the hall.
"I need a pregnancy test." Vic said.
"Okay, well." Maggie said as they entered the room. She grabbed a cup from the cabinet on the wall and gave it to her. "Urinate up to this line, seal it, and bring it back, okay?"
Victoria nodded and sat her bag down on the bed, leaving the room. Meredith sat on the stool and Maggie leaned against the wall.
"How have you been? I haven't seen you up here since the wildfire." Maggie said.
"Yeah, I remember that. You came up here with your Dad."
"I've been good." She replied.
"Have you been taking your meds?" Maggie asked.
"Yes, everyday. Faithfully." She said. "I've learned to control it without it sometimes though."
"We need you to continue to take them, we don't need you taking out one of our nurses again."
"I have been, don't worry." Andy giggled nervously. "How's Zola?"
"Sassy." Grey and Pierce said at the same time again.
"How's school?"
"Great. Our Winter Crystal Ball is in 12 days, I still haven't found a dress yet."
They nodded and smiled at her.
"Who are you going with? Robert?" Maggie asked and quickly Andy looked at her.
"How'd you know?"
"The Sullivan's tell us how attached at the hip you two still are." Meredith said. "He was here for every doctor visit with you."
At the mention of his name, Andy's cheeks became warm and red, blushing like the skies to crimson burning.
"Pierce, do you see what I'm seeing?" Dr. Grey asked.
"I think I am." She replied. "I haven't looked that happy since the end of my valedictorian speech."
"I think we got the title all wrong on these two..." She said winking at Andy. The door opened causing them to abruptly stop their conversation. Victoria walked through the door holding the cup in her shaking palm. The metal tray to the left is where she put it.
Andy and Vic heard both Dr. Pierce's and Dr. Grey's pagers go off and she stood up.
"Well, that's our cue. I'll see you later, Herrera. It was nice to meet you Victoria." She said grabbing the cup. "I'll drop this off on my way there."
"Bye you two." Maggie said. "I'll have a nurse bring it when it's done, fifteen minutes, okay? Hang tight."
"Thank you." Vic said and the two left.
The silence between Victoria and Andrea was awkward. Neither one of them wanted to speak up first. Vic was sure that if she voiced a word, her emotional barrier would be broken and would let all of the built up tears come out.
"Vic." Andy said going to take a seat beside her. "Whatever you decide to do if the result come out positive, we can do. I'll be there every step of the way."
Tears streamed down her face as she looked at Andy. "I can not be pregnant, Andy. My parents... they are super religious."
"They'll understand though, you're their child." She said as Vic cried on her shoulder.
"That's what's bad about it, they will literally hate me."
"They won't." Andy tried to comfort a distraught Victoria as she sobbed into her shirt for the next fifteen minutes. "They couldn't"
They heard the door open and Vic lifted her head at the nurse that had come into the room.
"Hello, I'm Nurse Reynolds. I have your results for you." Sitting down on the stool that was to the right. "The test came through negative." She said and Andy sighed in relief and Victoria let out tears of joy. "I'm sorry if this is bad news."
"No, no. It's good news she's just really happy." Andy said doing circular motions on Vic's back.
"Okay, but Victoria, however; you are experiencing these type of symptoms because you have rising levels of progesterone." The nurse said.
"It's medication for that right, Norethindrone?" Vic asked.
"Um, wow. Actually, yes?" The nurse said slightly shocked. "Guess I don't have to tell you what it is, then."
"We know what it is." Andy said looking at the chart.
"Oh Okay, well, Dr. Bailey told me to give you this prescription." She said and reached for the paper that she had placed on the counter previously. "She got called into a consultation. There was a wreck with a few casualties. Some survivors." The nurse said. "You two are free to go."
"Thank you, Nurse Reynolds."' Andy said and she nodded leaving the room. "See. Now you can breathe."
"I can breathe.." Vic repeated and laughed. "Oh my god, I'm not having sex again."
Andy giggled and picked up her bag and they both headed out into the hallway. As they walked to the entrance she heard shouting and wheels rolling.
"Stay with us Captain Herrera"
Andy snapped her head in the direction of where the commotion was coming from, seeing Dr. Pierce on top of her unconscious father on the gurney pumping his chest. Andy didn't think she could move as fast as she did running towards them.
"W-what the hell happened?" She yelled trying to stop the gurney from going anymore. "Dad!"
"SOMEBODY GET HER! WE HAVE TO KEEP MOVING!" Maggie yelled pressing deeply into his chest.
"Dad!" She yelled crying hysterically at the sight of her father covered in blood and unconscious. She felt someone pry her off of the gurney as she tried to fight her way out. "Get OFF OF ME! THAT'S MY DAD!"
"Andy, they're going to take care of him" She heard Vic say. Andy escaped Vic's hold running down the hall just to be scooped up again.
"Andrea, calm down. They got him." She heard and look up at Dr. C. Sullivan. She still tried to break free of his hold. "Come on let's go."
"No! That's my Dad, he's probably dead! Let ME GO!" She screamed causing the entire hospital to continue to look at her. "P-please... What happened?"
"Let's go sit down." He said holding up Andy's weakened body guiding her to the waiting area seats. He sat her down, but the crying didn't stop.
"W-what happened" She asked through her tears with her chest abnormally weaving up and down. "W-why is he like that?"
"I need you to calm down first." He said trying to stop her from having a panic attack. "Come on breathe with me." He breathed in and out with Andy as her breathing a heart rate slowed. "Okay good. There was a car accide-" He started but turned around to look at the front desk.
"Where's the other Dr. Sullivan?"
"Over here Mila." He said calling out for his wife who hadn't noticed Andy yet.
"There you are, Andrea's moth-" She stopped in her tracks noticing Andy as Andy stood up.
"W-What about my mother?" She asked walking towards her wiping the tears. "Is she okay?"
"Oh hi, my baby. Come here." Mila said bringing Andy in for a well needed hug as her breathing started to increase again. "Breathe okay? She just has a few bumps and bruises. The baby is fine also." Andy nodded crying into Dr. Sullivan's shoulder. "We are going to keep her here for a few nights though just to monitor her and the baby."
"Can I see her?" Andy asked looking at Robert's mother as she nodded. "I'll take you to her myself."
"Is my Dad going to be okay?" She looked at Calvin.
"I'll go get an update for you okay?" He asked and she nodded as Dr. M. Sullivan guided her to the elevator.
"Andy!" They heard and looked back, Robert jogged over to the two.
"Son?" Mrs. Sullivan said.
"Vic, called me." He said kissing his mother's cheek then Andy's.
"Find Lady Dr. Karev. Her mother is where ever she is on the third floor." She said to Robert. "Feel better, honey." She said wiping the last of her tears and Andy gave her a weak smile, nodding as Mila walked away.
"Come on" Robert put his arm around Andy's shoulder leading her to the direction of the elevator. Stepping their feet onto it, Robert pulled Andy to his chest wrapping his arms around her.
"I-I saw him." She said lowly. "I saw h-" She said but coulded finish her sentence.
"Shhh.." Robert wrapped her hairs around his waist and ran his hand on her back. "It's Cap we're talking about." He said "He'll pull through." The sound of the elevator indicating that they reached the desired floor at dinged and they walked out. He instantly spotted who he was supposed to look for.
"Dr. Karev." Robert said. She turned around and saw him holding onto a distraught Andy.
"Hey, Sullivan. What can I do you for?" She asked putting her hand in her white coat pocket.
"I just need to know where Elena Herrera is. This is her daughter." He said and she looked at her.
"Oh um hold on just a second." She said tapping on her tablet. "She's in room 342"
"Thank you." He said and they walked to the room down the hall. "You need me to come in with you?"
"Can you wait out here?" She said and he nodded.
"Ofcourse." He sighed, opening the door for her. She stepped into the dimmed room and Andy instantly felt half of the ton that was weighing on her shoulders be lifted off giving her some relief. Seeing her mother lie on the bed peacefully sleeping with her little brother or sister safely inside of her, made a few tear drops run down her face. Robert stayed by the door as Andy went to sit in the chair by the bedside.
She gently touched her mothers had as if it was fragile and would shatter if she handled it too harshly. She didn't want to wake her up but hoping she would do so on her own just to know that she was okay. Andy put Elena's hand against her forehead, sniffling. Feeling the warmth of her mother's hand, she didn't want to let it go so she sat like that for ten minutes.
Suddenly she heard machines start to beep frantically. Her eyes shot to her mother as she began to shake causing a herd of nurses and doctors to come in moving her out of the way.
"Mamá!" Andy exclaimed. "No, no." She said trying to break past the staff to get to her mother's quaking body. "GET OFF OF HER!"
"Get her out of here!" She heard someone scream. As another someone tried to come up behind her, she turned around and threw a blow at their nose. "GET HER NOW!"
"We need security on the third floor"
Andy felt the walls closing in on her, as her heart could have quite possibly beat out of her chest. Then she snapped. Andy saw nothing red as she clawed at the woman trying to detain her. She wasn't aware of what her actions were at this moment. "Do not touch me!" She yelled as she pushed down a doctor with glasses. The security barged in acting quickly to put Andy's arms behind her back. They rolled Elena out of the room swifty. Andy still tried to fight her way out of the strong man's embrace but he wouldn't budge.
