A/N: I know this fic hasn't been overly dramatic or full of action but please bear with me I have so many ideas; I just have to work out how to write them in so they work
Thursday morning is busy for Michael, he splits Westmoreland's money three ways; keeping one lot for himself, saving one lot for Sucre, sending him a message on the website he told Sucre to use to meet up when he can and giving Linc his share. He puts his loft on the market, pays Nika the $10,000 he promised, and heads to the bank to organize his recently unfrozen accounts. The bank teller looks as if she is going to faint when he first sits down with her, but he works his charm and by the end of his appointment, he has her in fits of laughter. When he finishes at the bank, he calls Veronica, "Hey Vee, I need a favor."
"Sure, what's up?"
"I need to you to organize an annulment."
"On it. Give me an hour." He thanks her and hangs up, doing some more unexciting clothes and grocery shopping while he waits for an answer, surprised by how little people actually care that he was walking the streets, he only has a few people throw him sour glares. Exactly an hour later he receives a message from Vee; it's done.
He feels a weight lift off his shoulders and smiles at his phone; he replies I owe you big time. Thanks Vee before walking into a jewellery store.
Sara walks into the exam room at 4pm for her last appointment, Charles. She can't see a CO waiting for him so she smiles sadly, "I can't say I'm overly happy to see you back Charles. I'm very sorry about your daughter." She starts his checkup.
"Thanks Sara. I got to see her, that's all I wanted. Thank Michael again for me," She nods, "oh, and also, congratulations."
"Thank you, we are very excited." She pauses before lowering her voice, "thank you for your gift. It's appreciated."
"Not a problem." He smiles, there are a few moments of silence before he speaks again "I told Michael that you two will have to bring the little one to visit."
"Of course, and just so you know, I'm here if you need someone to talk to." She just finishes the checkup as Bellick charges into the room.
"Finished?" Sara doesn't turn to face him but nods, rolling her eyes. Charles tries to hold back a chuckle as he stands up, "Come on con, move it."
"Thanks Doc."
Sara gets home at 5pm and smells something amazing again, I could definitely get used to this, she thinks to herself as she enters the living room, removing her jacket. "Hey you," Michael smiles at her as he walks out of the bedroom, she gives him a small smile and kisses him, "you okay?"
"Yeah, I saw Charles today." She answers quietly and he nods in understanding.
"Well, I have run you a bath, so go and relax while I finish dinner." He steers her to the bathroom, she throws him a confused look but he just smiles, "Relax." He says again before walking out.
While Sara has a bath, Michael lines the kitchen door with rose pedals leading to the table, where he has two candles lighting the kitchen. Sara walks in and lets out a small gasp, "Michael what is all this?"
"A thank you for being you. Come, sit down." He pulls out her chair before taking his own seat. They eat in mostly silence, only throwing the occasional small talk at each other. When they are almost finished their dinner, Michael starts to feel nervous; what if this isn't what she wants? She might throw me out. She'll think I've lost my mind, we only technically started 'dating' two months ago.
"Michael, what's wrong?" She places her hand over his and all of his worries seem to fade.
"Nothing's wrong. I was just thinking."
"About?"
"About us. About how happy I am with you. How insane it is that we have only known each other for such a short time and yet it feels like years." He stands up and moves over to her, he takes a small velvet box out of his pocket and hears a small gasp when he kneels on one knee, "I love you and I may be playing with fire a bit here but it just feel so right when I'm with you. So Perfect. I can't remember what my life was like without you and I don't want to. You are, by far, the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can't think of anywhere in the world I would rather be. Sara Tancredi, will you marry me?" He opens the box and tears escape from her eyes, she quickly wipes them away and nods.
"Yes, Michael Scofield. Yes, I will marry you." He exhales and grins, slipping the ring onto her finger; he watches her inspect it.
"Do you like it?" She doesn't say anything as she stares at the beautiful, gold ring on her finger. The small, discreet diamond situated in the centre of the gold band shines in the candlelight. When she doesn't say anything he continues, "I knew you wouldn't like big or flashy, or something that made too much of a statement but I don't know if that's what you-" She silences him with a fiery, passionate kiss. Almost knocking him of his knee, "Michael, it's perfect." They share a sweet smile before he closes his lips over hers again.
Sara pulls up to work the next morning with an extra bounce in her step, she heads up to the infirmary and Katie automatically notices her friend's good mood. "Do I want to know why you're so cheery this morning?"
"Probably not every detail, but here's a bit part of it." Sara shows Katie her ring and they both squeal and embrace.
"That is amazing, Sara. I'm so happy for you two." Sara smiles and explains the PG version of the night before patients start getting brought up.
Throughout the day people notice the ring but choose not to comment, everyone knows how much of a private person Sara is, she only really notices Bellick throw her a sad look when he sees it, but is glad when he can't seem to think of anything to say to her.
Michael rings Linc to let him know, "Jesus Mike, can you two do anything at a normal pace?"
"Obviously not." Both men chuckle and Michael hears Vee yell "Congratulations!" in the background.
"So how are you two going?" Michael asks Linc, with a hint on teasing in his voice.
"Anyway, I've got to go. We'll catch up for a beer to celebrate." He quickly hangs up, leaving Michael laughing at the dead line. Of course he would get weird when talking about his relationship. Linc or Vee hadn't out rightly said they were giving it another shot but Michael could tell, and he was glad; his brother deserves happiness as well. For the remainder of the day, Michael works on updating his resume and emailing it to a few different engineering firms, including his old place of employment, determined to have a job before the baby arrives.
A/N (again)- I know this chapter may have been a bit boring, this was just a bit of a 'fill in some details' chapter that I needed to get out but I promise, this is where the action really starts to take place
