The Adventures of Max and Leo: Max and Leo head back home

Max and Leo finished up packing everything, prepared to leave the hotel.

"Well, we had an eventful weekend for sure," Leo said. "We won the tournament, you made a new friend, we got some new stuff and we ended up having a good time."

"We sure did," Max said. "I wish we could do this again."

"Me, too," Leo said. "Maybe we can. I wouldn't mind playing a team from another state in future years."

"Yeah, that would be awesome," Max said.

"So, you like your new flip flops," Leo said.

"I sure do," Max said. "I can wear these during the day for the rest of swimming season at least."

"That is for sure," Leo said. "That way, you'll only need your shoes for gym day and I can keep them in my office along with your gym clothes since you change in there anyway."

"Sounds awesome," Max said. "I know you'll be happy to get back to Portland."

"I sure am," Leo said. "There's no place like home."

"Yeah, or in my case, your home," Max said.

"Yeah, your mom told me you could spend the whole spring break with me if you wanted to," Leo said. "And that worked out great. We ended up playing basketball in another city. You ended up swimming in another city."

"I know," Max said. "That was indeed exciting."

"It sure was," Leo said. "Well, let's get on home."

"Yeah, maybe they'll give us first class again," Max said.

Max and Leo gathered their things and took them with them out of the hotel . . .

Max and Leo were at the airport with the rest of the team when they met up with some members from the Sacramento team that came to say good-bye and thanks for coming to play. Max found his new friend, Cory.

"I wish your swimming team well," Cory said.

"I wish yours well as well," Max said.

"I'll talk to my coach to see if my team can play your team," Cory said.

"Sounds fantastic," Max said. "I know the competition will be close and fierce with us being fast swimmers."

"It sure will, Max," Cory said and then gave Max a piece of paper. "In the meantime, here's my number if you want to call me."

Max took the paper and said, "Thank you. I'd love to keep in touch."

Max then hugged Cory, whom hugged back.

"Have a safe trip and call me when you get there," Cory said.

"Will do," Max said.

"Oh, yeah, and there's a surprise in the plane for you and Leo when you get in," Cory said.

"Cool, we'll look for it," Max said.

Max, Leo and the rest of Leo's basketball team boarded the plane. Max and Leo were stopped by a flight attendant.

"Hey, are you two Max and Leo?" the flight attendant asked.

"We sure are," Leo said.

"There's a surprise for you both at first class," the flight attendant said.

"Did we get the suite again?" Max asked.

"Yeah, but they have it all set up just for you two," the flight attendant said. "They told me not to tell you any more than that because it's a surprise."

"Cool, let's go check it out," Leo said.

Max and Leo went to the first class suite to see the surprise. Sure enough, in the suite, there was a hot tub long enough for two people and a TV set up where the two could watch TV while the flight was in progress. Leo found a note on the drawer that the TV is sitting on. Leo got the note and read it:

"Dear Max and Leo, we appreciate you coming to Sacramento to play our team. I also love that you two are best friends and I'm sure this whole experience adds to the many memories that you two have already made. Your team played fantastic during the series. It was like you all never fell out of practice. I wish you and your team and your best friendship well. By the way, Max, Cory wants to keep in touch with you so here's his contact info just in case he didn't give it to you before you left. Also, as a token of our appreciation, we worked out to get you two to relax in the hot tub while watching a movie while you fly back home to Portland. I hope you have a relaxing flight back. Thanks again, the Sacramento Middle School basketball team."

"Wow, they really appreciate us coming to play their team," Leo said. "And you've got Cory's contact info for sure."

"And we got this hot tub," Max said. "Guess the team wanted me to introduce the flight staff to the Super Swimmer."

"I think so," Leo said. "But, it is for the both of us so I guess I better get my swimming suit out of this bag and change into it."

"And I guess I can get out of these clothes," Max said.

"You sure can," Leo said. "I guess you can put them in this bag when we're done changing."

Max got out of his flip flops and took off his buttoned down shirt and shorts, unveiling his swimming suit. Leo got his swimming suit out of his bag and changed into it. Once they both were in their swimming suit, Leo and Max put their regular clothes in the bag and Leo zipped it up and put it on a secure spot in the suite. The two then got in the hot tub, sat down and strapped up.

"This is so cool, Leo," Max said. "We're gonna fly in style."

"We sure are," Leo said. "My guess is you're gonna relax to the point of taking a nap."

"Yeah, I will," Max said.

"I might just do that myself," Leo said.

The flight attendant came in to check on Leo and Max.

"You two strapped up and ready?" the flight attendant asked.

"We sure are," Leo said.

"You two look relaxed already," the flight attendant said.

"Yeah, hot tubs are relaxing," Leo said. "We relaxed in one while we were in the hotel one day."

"Nice, well, enjoy," the flight attendant said.

"We will," Leo said.

The flight attendant left Max and Leo alone in the first class suite to relax in the hot tub. Leo got the remote that was sitting on a nearby table and turned on the TV and the VCR and started the movie, which turned out to be the first Back to the Future movie. The two started watching it . . . but, fell asleep on the hot tub while watching the movie . . .

"Max, Leo, we're at Portland," the flight attendant said, waking up Max and Leo. The flight attendant was holding towels.

"Alright, Max, we're home," Leo said.

"Hopefully, I can just wear my swimming suit home," Max said. "My body wants to stay in water."

"Well, you'll be coming home with me so you can put your body back in water," Leo said.

Leo and Max unstrapped themselves, got up and got out of the hot tub to get the towels from the flight attendants and began to dry themselves off.

"That was so relaxing, was it?" Max asked.

"It sure was," Leo said. "We don't get to relax together very often so it's kind of nice that we got to do that twice in one week."

"Yeah, I'm glad we got to," Max said. "But, now, it's back to the grind."

"It sure is," Leo said. "You'll be swimming and I'll be working."

"Speaking of swimming, I like your swimming suit, Max," the flight attendant said.

"Oh, thanks," Max said. "Leo made it for me."

"Really, you did great, Leo," the flight attendant said.

"Thanks," Leo said. "We came up with the idea after I found out Max was a really fast swimmer."

"Nice," the flight attendant said. "So, Max is the Super Swimmer?"

"He sure is and he has lived up to that name so far," Leo said. "He even saved a girl's life when we stayed at my dad's beach house for the weekend."

"That's awesome," the flight attendant said. "So, is the Super Swimmer a superhero or something?"

"He sure is," Max said.

"That's cool, I hope you keep using your swimming ability for good," the flight attendant said.

"I sure will," Max said.

Max and Leo finished drying off and then Leo got his bag and the letter the Sacramento coach left with him and Max. Max followed Leo out of the plane so they could get their luggage and meet up with the rest of the team outside of the airport.

"Well, guys, that was our trip to Sacramento," Leo said. "I hope you guys had fun and that you enjoyed playing a team outside of our state."

"I sure did," Marv said. "I heard you and Max got the royalty treatment."

"We sure did, the coach left me a surprise in the first class suite," Leo said. "By the way, Max made a friend while we were in Sacramento. Come to find out, Sacramento has a swimming team and one of the swimmers was a part of the basketball team. He and Max really hit it off."

"That is so cool, I hope you both keep in touch," Marv said.

"We will," Max said. "The coach left us his contact info."

"So, are you going to be spending the rest of your spring break with Leo?" Marv asked.

"I sure am," Max said. "Are you gonna be okay for the rest of spring break?"

"I will," Marv said. "I'll see you at school."

"Sounds great," Max said.

"Well, I'll see you all at school," Leo said. "I hope you have a great rest of your spring break."

"We will," Marv said.

The team did one more one, two, three chant and then Max went with Leo to Leo's dad's car so Max could spend the rest of his spring break with Leo.
