Chapter fourteen:
Mello puts the briefcase inside of the bedroom on the bed. He then hurriedly takes off his disguise revealing his usual clothes underneath. He puts on black runners to protect his feet. He grabs the keys to the black sedan and heads to the garage. He opens it with the flick of the switch revealing two cars. He gets into the one and starts it. He pulls out his phone and sees Matt has texted him.
I'm at a red light. I will need you to take over soon. We are heading down 123 street by 16 ave and going at a good speed.
I'm coming.
Mello puts his phone down then backs out of the garage. He makes sure to close it behind himself and he heads off. He drives to the location and he follows along the street until he spots the car that Matt is in. He can see that the silver Prius seems to be speeding up a little to probably get away from Matt. He drives up to be next to it causing Matt to slightly glance to him. He notices from the corner of his eye.
Matt turns away and takes the first turn he can heading away as though needing to go down that road.
Mello stays in his lane and keeps the silver Prius in his sights without making it obvious.
After a few moments the Prius slows down a little as though relieved that he isn't being followed even though Mello is there.
Mello changes into the lane behind the Prius as the lane he is in goes to a turning lane up ahead. To act normal he raises his hand that is facing the passenger side giving, the Prius in front of him and the SUV behind him, a thank you wave for letting him in. He lowers his hand back to the steering wheel after that wave. His eyes are drawn down for a second when his phone starts to vibrate. He turns back to the road and pulls it out of his pocket. He notices from the corner of his eye that it is Matt. He answers it and places it into the middle consol. "Hey."
"Hey. How are things going?" Matt questions over the phone.
"Doesn't suspect a thing." Mello reports to Matt as he keeps driving safely trying to look like he is just chill. He notices the Prius take a turn heading down a road that goes towards some countryside. "We are turning into an area where there is more countryside than city. I'll change to the lane next to the Prius and maybe pull ahead to try to get suspicion off." He turns at the same area as the Prius that he is following.
"Got it." Matt confirms. "I'll hang back and continue to follow both of your trackers. We'll keep the phone line open so that way we can quickly tell the other to take over if needed."
"I like that idea." Mello confirms and he changes to the lane next to the Prius. He speeds up pulling up ahead of the silver car though remains in the same lane. He drives along a little ahead of the Prius. He checks his mirrors every safe time that he can to keep it in his sights.
After a little on this road the Prius turns onto a dirt road.
"The Prius turned." Mello glances for a moment to what is in that direction. He spots what looks like a farm. "It looks like there's a farm there. Unless there is a place to turn He might be heading that way."
"Find a spot to park then get out and I will meet you. We'll sneak towards the spot as they seem to be coming to a stop."
"Okay. Sounds good to me." Mello confirms and he begins looking for a place to turn and park the sedan that he is in. He spots an area which is the parking lot of a church. He pulls in and parks his car. He turns it off and gets out holding his cell. "Okay. I am at a church parking lot." He informs Matt.
"Okay. I will be there soon." Matt responds to that and the two of them hang up.
Mello looks to the direction of where Near was taken though there is some trees blocking it.
In the meantime Near continues to pretend to be out cold as he feels the car come to a stop. He hears the doors opening and closing. He is then picked up and the car is turned off. He doesn't struggle as he lets his body remain limp. He doesn't even dare peek at where he is being taken to. He is taken into a place that smells of old hay and lingering animal musk. He is placed on the ground then something metal is locked onto his ankle. He hears Jason start to leave then the other speaks as though he is on the phone.
"Hey. Yeah I got another one." Jason pauses to listen not having left fully so Near just quietly listens. "Well I think that we'll get a good amount of money in the auction for this one. I will get the listing up soon. This one looks truly unique. Perhaps Rocky will be the one to pay heavily for this one." He pauses for another moment then makes a confirmation sound. "Okay. Well talk to you later." He finally heads off and a door is slammed shut behind him. He even makes sure to lock it from the outside before he heads off.
Near finally opens his eyes and shifts to get up. He glances around finding himself inside of a stall of what looks to be a barn. He sees that it truly looks like a cell with the walls being fully wood without any gaps, the back wall having a window that is too high to reach even if he jumps, and the door to it has half wood and the rest is metal bars. He knows that this to keep anything put into here inside of it. He thinks about pulling out his cellphone to message Mello and Matt though decides against it just in case there is some system set up where it will be caught. He doesn't know what technology they have. He leans against the back wall and looks to the thing on his ankle. He sees a metal locked clamp that is attached to a chain that is then attached to the flood looking to be buried beneath the concrete flooring. He gets himself settled and waits for his two work partners to come to help him, and whoever else is here, out.
