I'm just going to make something clear here: Bakugou and Todoroki are not going to pass the provisional. And not because that's how the anime goes. I feel that after everything Izuku went through if they were to pass the exam they would stick to his side like glue and they'd ruin what I have in store for Izuku. Also look forward to the Yakuza raid (I'm putting it in because I love Eri too much to exclude her). It's going to be quite different from what's in canon. The same people will be involved though because I like them. And it just makes sense. Also, I'm sorry that Shinsou hasn't been very prevalent yet despite him being in the class, I promise he will be here soon.
Anyways here's the chapter.
Izuku sat in class waiting for Aizawa with the rest of his classmates. He wasn't sure what they'd be doing, but he was excited. He was trying to look forward, and become more sure of himself. He was silently hoping that they'd be having mock battles of some sort so that he could try something out.
After his examination from Recovery Girl he found out that anymore use of One for All in Izuku's arms would put them out of commission entirely. For Izuku that was not an option. He needed his arms to use Blood Blade, and he was determined to use it more and get stronger.
The green haired boy was pulled from his thoughts when Aizawa entered the room.
"Quiet down, we're going to get started," he said. "As I mentioned before we're going to work on getting you your provisional licenses."
"Yes!" Kirishima, Katsuki, and Kaminari yelled.
"I'm so excited!" echoed Mina and Hagakure.
"Settle down. As you all know a provisional license grants you permission to intervene when someone's life is at stake. That being said the passing rate is less than five percent each year."
"It's really that hard?" asked Sero.
"It's to be expected," Shinsou answered. "We're aiming to become heroes. That means people's lives are in our hands. They have to make sure we're actually ready to hold that responsibility."
"Thank you Shinsou. And to prepare you for that, starting from today we'll be having you work on two..."
Aizawa was cut off by Cementoss, Ectoplasm, and Midnight walking in and finishing the statement for him, "...of your own, ultimate moves!"
"Finally!" yelled Kirishima. "We're getting to the good stuff!"
Izuku was thrilled. This was way better than mock battles. He could really work on developing his quirks now.
The teachers explained how the special moves were like a pros signature, a way to ensure victory no matter what. Then Aizawa released them to put on their costumes and head for training field Gamma.
"Welcome to Gym Gamma, also known as the Training Dream Land, or TDL," said Cementoss. "This facility is one that I designed. It allows me to create any kind of terrain to help train students. Hence 'Dream Land'."
"May I ask a question?" shouted Iida.
"Go ahead," Aizawa said.
Iida asked two questions, "Why are ultimate moves essential for the provisional license exam? Can you please explain your reasoning to us?"
"Chill out, I'll explain it to you," said Aizawa. "Accidents, natural disasters, villain attacks, things like that are what the test will try you on."
"This includes things like; stealth, fighting ability, information gathering, agility, your ability to communicate with others, and leader ship," explained Midnight. "The test is designed to change every year and assess each of these attributes. Fighting ability especially. Having a variety of fighting styles under your belt will help immensely."
Cementoss spoke next, "They're going to assess whether you let the situation control you, or whether you take charge and bring stability to the situation. That is the mark of a hero's true fighting ability."
"This doesn't mean that ultimate moves are always offensive however," said Ectoplasm. "Take Iida's Recipro Burst for example. It's a short amount of time where he con move blisteringly fast, that in and of itself is already worthy of being called a special move."
Iida was touched by the heroes words.
"So it's like our secret weapon then?" said Sato.
"Exactly!" said Midnight. "It's like Komui Woods' Lacquered Chain Prison which he uses to quickly incapacitate his opponents."
"Before it ended one of the things we worked on at the training camp was quirk development. That is a vital step in the creation of your ultimate moves. So from today until the end of summer break we'll be having you work on developing your quirks and special moves. It's a boot camp!" announced Aizawa. "Not only that, but if you feel that you need developmental changes to your costumes now is the time. you can head to the support lab if you'd like."
Cementoss created a training area for the students and they set to work. Ectoplasm made clones to help each of the students.
"Do you have something in mind for an ultimate move?" asked Ectoplasm.
"K-kind of, the problem i-is I have three quirks I can u-use now, and one I'm n-not allowed to use until I g-get my license."
"Ah yes, All for One, I heard about that," Ectoplasm's clone said. "What are your other quirks?"
"Oh! I have T-telekinesis, Blood Blade, and Super P-power. Telekinesis allows m-me to control anything I c-could actually lift with my b-body, I can't use it on m-myself, and I can only u-use it on living things f-for a max of about five minutes d-depending on the size. I also h-have to be able to see the o-object," Izuku explained. "Blood Blade lets me c-create any kind of blade w-with my blood, once the b-blood is pulled from a wound I can't p-put it back, so it tends to make me quite a-anemic. And Super Power enhances m-my strength and speed. It t-tends to break my bones though i-if I go over five percent. And I can't u-use it on my arms too much or I w-won't be able to move them a-at all."
"I see your problem," the clone said. "Let's see, is there a quirk you'd like to focus you're training on?"
"Yeah, actually. I-i want to be able to use Blood B-blade better, more efficiently. I t-took lessons on using blades w-when I was younger, but it's hard to f-find situations where I can feel g-good about using Blood B-blade without incapacitating myself d-due to blood loss."
"Well then, there's two things to work on. Your confidence and your control over the blood loss. Can you use your quirk without cutting yourself?"
"N-no, I can't... wait!" Izuku realized something he'd forgotten about. "At the U-u.S.J. I lost control and c-cut off Shigaraki's hand, but I w-wasn't bleeding then!"
"Then, there is something to try. Try pulling the blood out of your veins and through your pores. That should give you more control over the amount you pull out," the clone said. "It might take a while to get the hang of though."
"R-right!"
Izuku imagined the blood flowing through his veins, imagined red blood coming from his veins and pooling together to form a small knife in his right palm. Izuku looked down, nothing. He was just a little frustrated. Okay maybe a lot. He'd been working at it for several minutes already, and nothing.
"Young Midoriya!" yelled All Might. "How are you doing?"
"W-well, I'm working on trying t-to use Blood Blade without getting i-injured first," said Izuku. "But its not r-really going too well right now."
"What's the image you have right now?" asked All Might as he joined the boy.
"U-um well, I'm imagining the blood flowing f-from my veins to my pores, a-and into my palms."
"I see, maybe try thinking of the blood as individual cells rather than a mass entity," All Might said. "Oh, and one more thing. You're still imitating me too much when you fight, you need to think for yourself, kid." And with that All Might was gone working his way through the students.
'Individual cells, huh? Then maybe!' Izuku changed the image in his mind. Instead when he thought of the blood flowing through his veins he imagined selecting individual blood cells moving them through the cells of his veins and then through the pores of his skin and creating a senbon needle in his palm. When Izuku opened his eyes, he was successful.
"D-do you see that?!" Izuku yelled. "I d-did it! I did i-it!"
"Very good," said Ectoplasm. "Now you need to work on doing it faster, and turning it into an ultimate move."
"Yes sir!"
After another two hours of working Izuku left to head towards the support lab. He wanted to see if he could get an upgrade on his arm braces so that they could support his whole arm. When he got there he saw Iida on the ground with Hatsume on top of him and Ochako standing nearby looking absolutely horrified.
"D-do I even want to know h-how this happened?" Izuku asked.
"Oh hi, Deku!" Ochako said. "Iida opened the door and the room exploded, and Hatsume landed on his chest."
"Are y-you guys here to get y-your costumes modified?" Izuku asked them once Hatsume removed herself from Iida who was having an internal war.
"Yep! I want something to help keep my nausea down. What about you, Deku?"
"O-oh, I was hoping to get better braces for my arms."
"I am looking for improvement as well!" shouted Iida. "I hope there's something they can do about my radiator!"
"Ooh~! Well if that's the case!" Hatsume scurried away and then came back with one of her "babies" which she instantly put on Iida's arms. "Try these babies out! They're super cooler electric boosters designed to limit the generation of heat!"
"I don't need boosters, and why my arms?" Iida said.
"Boosters, on!" And then poor Iida was being sped down the hallway unable to stop. "Whoops, my bad! Boosters, off!" Unfortunately Iida was stopped over a stairwell, and when he finally returned it was with a heavy heart and many bruises.
"Hatsume, you are aware that my engines are in my legs, aren't you?" Iida asked while taking a handkerchief that Ochako handed him to clean up the dirt on his face.
"Of course, but if your legs get overheated then just use your arms, see? Aren't I brilliant what do you think?" Izuku's eyes widened.
"H-hatsume-chan you are a genius!" Izuku said.
"Of course I am, did you doubt me?" Hatsume had her hands on her hips yelling out "Ha, ha, ha!"
Izuku turned to Iida. "I-iida, I need you to teach m-me everything!"
"Everything about what, Midoriya?"
"Deku, calm down, you're scaring me," Ochako said.
"Oh, s-sorry, it's just that I r-realized something. I-if I can't use my arms to f-fight, then I should u-use my legs right?"
"Deku, no breaking your legs!"
"I w-won't break them, I can c-control my power output n-now so I don't have t-to worry about that."
"Use your legs, huh?" said Hatsume coming up behind Izuku and feeling all over his legs. The green haired boy felt very uncomfortable.
"H-hatsume-chan?"
"I have just the thing for you!" The pink haired girl ran off and when she came back she had very, very strange looking shoes in her hands.
"I-i don't think I want t-to try those on, Hatsume-chan," Izuku said. He was genuinely terrified of the girl.
"Don't worry! These are my Ultra Powered Jumping Sneakers! Complete with iron toes and sole for kicking opponents!" And they were already on him. "Here you just push this little button and... away you go!" Yup, away he went, into the ceiling.
"Can I j-just talk to Power Loader-sensei, p-please?"
After being removed from the ceiling and telling Power Loader about his ideas Izuku was on his way back to work on his ultimate move.
Over the next four days Izuku managed to speed up the time it took to create the needles, and could now make ten at a time, though he was working to increase the number. Using his telekinesis he was able to control the needles and move them to hit different pressure points. He also worked on strengthening his legs so that he wouldn't have to worry about putting too much strain on them.
Izuku was happy to find that improvements to his costume didn't impair his ability use Blood Blade. He now had special gloves that ran all the way up to just below his arm pits. They were designed to support his ligaments so that he wouldn't put to much strain on them. The nice thing was that Power Loader was able to keep the palms open, that way Izuku could continue to make his Blood Senbon.
The new costume also included shoes that were specially designed by Hatsume, the Iron Soles. The shoes allowed Izuku to use his smashes with his legs rather than his arms. So as long as he stayed at his five percent limit, he wouldn't have to worry about ever breaking anything again.
Izuku had just finished fighting one of Ectoplasm's clones when class 1-B marched in demanding the use of the gym. Monoma then started his idiocy again.
"Did you guys know, only half the people who test will pass, so all of class 1-A might fail together!"
"So, then rather to take the test together, our fates are to clash," Tokoyami said. Izuku was very confused.
"Actually each class will be tested at a different center. The tests are held in three different places so that schools don't have to clash."
Monoma let out a sigh of relief. "I don't have the chance to take you down myself? That's too bad," he said.
'That's right,' thought Izuku. 'It's easy to forget, but we're going to be facing off against other schools during the provisional exam. I hope we can all pass."
"Most of the students at the exam have built up more experience, and worked harder and longer than you guys. While the test material is unclear there is one thing that will always be the same, adversity. It's not good to get stuck on it, but at least think about that a little.
That night Izuku sat with Shinsou, Katsuki, and the male members of the Baku Squad in the commons after an extra training session for his "Shoot Style" as he called the use of his legs.
"Hey, Shinsou, do you have an ultimate move you're working on?" asked Kirishima. "Cause I see you using the capture scarf and stuff, but..."
"I mean, yeah, we all have to," Shinsou answered. "I've been working on using the capture gear to move around so that I can increase my speed and mobility. Kind of like how Sero uses his tape."
"Dude, that's awesome!" Sero said. "If you want I can give you some pointers!"
"Really? That'd be great."
"Of course!" Sero flashed Shinsou a smile and a thumbs up.
"What about you, Midoriya?" said Kaminari. "What's your ultimate move?"
"W-well I have two. I-i'm working on making s-senbon needles with my B-blood Blade. And I'm also d-developing a fighting style similar to Iida's s-so that I don't put as much s-strain on my arms. Once I p-put the two together I think i-it'll be pretty cool," Izuku replied.
"Dude, that's awesome!" Kaminari said. "I asked the support team to make me something that allows me to aim my quirk so that I don't have to worry about hitting my teammates."
"I think Bakubro has the coolest ultimate move though," said Kirishima. "That A.P. Shot is amazing!"
"Tch! Of course it is, who do you think you're talking to!"
"W-what's your ultimate move, Kirishima?" asked Izuku.
"I'm working on strengthening my quirk so that I can get even stronger! I call it Red Riot: Unbreakable!" Kirishima yelled, switching into Unbreakable to show it off.
"T-that's so cool!"
"I know right?!"
Izuku found that he was quite content like this, surrounded by friends having a somewhat normal conversation for teenage boys. It was nice.
So there's that chapter. What do you guys think of Blood Senbon? Was it a good idea? Well anyway make sure to comment quirk and villain ideas, and I'll see you all next chapter!
