Another alternate prompt today. Because why not? Inspiration struck, so I wrote ;)

Alt 2. Falling (220 words)
Chase had exactly 1,036 seconds to realize that yes, this was a mistake before the ground disappeared from under him. Or rather, he disappeared over the edge of the road. The moment of freefall that followed somehow felt both everlasting and too brief to even consider.
Too soon though, the ground once more connected with Chase's body as he was sent rolling through the rough dirt. When he finally came to a stop, he could feel the blood dripping down his nose and bruises forming across his body.
Ow...
"Chase!" Sliding footsteps accompanied his brother's shout and soon enough Leo's head swam into his slowly clearing vision.
"Chase?! Are you – oh, wow... Yeah, I was gonna ask if you're okay, but that looks painful."
"Yeah," Chase winced, his gaze flickering over to the steep muddy climb back up to the road. The same place he'd just too quickly fallen down. "Will you listen next time I say it's too dangerous?"
"Sorry!" Leo's face scrunched up in shame as he helped his brother up on his feet, an arm secure around his waist to keep him steady. "I thought you were being an overcautious control freak."
"Ugh," Chase groaned, wiping the blood from his face. "Can we just go home?"
"Yeah, buddy," Leo sent him a sympathetic smile. "That's probably wise."
