Downtown, Kat smiled to herself as she walked out of one of the stores, and nearly dropped her stuff when she saw the President on the news screens.
Seeing Danny and Chris in the crowd, Kat squeezed herself through the crowd until the chocolate-brown haired girl was close as she could get to the black boy and his friend who watched with wide eyes.
"Danny, Chris, what's happening?!" Kat asked.
"Look!" Danny pointed towards the president, who began his speech.
"My fellow citizens, the assault against the headquarters of Dr. Eggman has begun! Our military forces will press on until Eggman is no longer a threat to our world. We will not fail. Dr. Eggman must be stopped now."
"Is the President crazy?!" Kat turned to the boys. "He doesn't know how evil Eggman really is!"
Danny and Chris looked at each other, and shrugged. They turned back to the news tv and gasped. Military airplanes soon filled in view.
"Wow. This will be a heavy-duty fight!" Danny said, worry tracing his eyes.
Chris nodded.
Kat just starred at the TV in worry.
...
Riding on one of the airplanes, Knuckles held on to one of the bombs as it released from the ship. Keeping steady on the bomb, Knuckles surfed his way towards Eggman's layer. He hopped off the bomb and used his fists to latch himself on the roof.
He climbed as fast as he could.

Inside Eggman's layer, Rouge and her team of agents hurried down the halls. Rouge's eyes widened, and she put her hands in front of her partners. "Hold it!"
Topaz leaned into her. "Why did we stop?"
Rouge smiled. "Because we're about to get a visit from Eggman's welcome wagon,"
Rouge was right.
"I'll take it!" Rouge hopped towards the robot.
"ROUGE!" Topaz cried.
...
Around Mr. Stewart's car, corn shaves flew everywhere. The force of the wind was almost impossible to ride through.
"Poor Penny, she's out there too!" Mr. Stewart cried. "This is terrible."
...
The X Tornado swooped down and got in front of the girls, who were clinging to dear life.
"We can't stay here, Penny!" Francis cried out to Penny.
"Francis, just get down!" Penny cried.
"Just get down, girls!" Amy cried.
Penny screamed as the wind tore her away from Francis. Francis tried to catch Penny but couldn't reach her. Luckily, Amy grabbed Penny by the wrist. "Stay down and don't try any more stunts!" She ordered.
"Yes, Amy." Penny said, looking embarrassed as she clung to her and the ground.
"I hope Tails is all right!" Francis cried.
Tails groaned a little as he felt something shake the X-Tornado. He looked up.
"Hey, Tails!" Penny cried.
Fofun put its foot on Tails's X-Tornado, trying to crash it.
"That's right, Fofun!" Eggman said evilly. "Show that furry urchin who's in charge!"
Tails whimpered, waiting for impact.
Eggman laughed.
That's when something speedy-two somethings-dashed into view. They ran right past Mr. Stewart's car.
"Whoa!" Mr. Stewart cried.
...
"Ha, ha!" Eggman laughed. "It's crunch time, Tails!"
Sonic and Silver sped right through their friends and stood in front of Eggman.
"It can't be!" The evil genius said, shocked.
Sonic smirked, and he and Silver charged.
They wrecked the machine and it broke, causing the rest of the corn shaves to fly everywhere.
Tails sighed in relief.
"There he goes." Penny said, watching behind Sonic and Silver.
Soon, Eggman was gone.
...
Tails hurried off to Sonic. "You saved us all!" He smiled.
"Yeah, yeah." Sonic smiled.
Silver frowned at them. "But why would you guys end up way up here?"
"We found out that the third Chaos Emerald is in here!" Tails smiled. "Wow, that's right! I almost forgot!"
He ran back to digging for the emerald..
"Easy, there, pal." Sonic smirked.
But the robot Sonic and Silver damaged wasn't damaged at all.
Tails and Penny screamed as the robot stood up.
"Cool your jet, big guy." Sonic said, frowning at the robot. "Just let him dig what he came here for and we'll go away!"
The robot didn't seem to stop, however.
"Guess Silver and I'll have to beat the old wind out of you!" The blue hedgehog smirked.
"Sonic! Silver!" Penny cried from the X Tornado. Penny shot them two rings and they flew to them. "Got it!" They said. They managed to turn into their super speed mode and dashed into the robot, completely destroying it. The robot powered down, and "died".
Soon, Tails dug up the emerald and picked it up. "Wow!"
"It's yellow this time!" Penny smiled, walking over, and Tails allowed Penny to hold the emerald. Just like the green one, it was warm. Penny smiled, her blue eyes glinting at the precious and powerful jewel.
"Why Tails, Penny, you two shouldn't have!"
Penny looked around, and gasped as a robot claw snatched the Emerald out of the girl's hand. "AHHH!" Tails and Penny screamed.
Eggman laughed, and disappeared into the sky.
Sonic patted the girl's back comfortingly. "Don't worry, let's get it back!" He smiled, then paused to look at Penny.
"Do you need some water?" Sonic asked Penny seriously.
"I told her she should take some." Amy scolded.
Penny realized she was sweating. "Oh boy." The girl muttered faintly. "Could one of you get me a bottle?" Penny murmured.
Silver dashed off and came back with a water bottle pack.
After Penny was refreshed with water, the girl hopped into the seat. Francis whooped, and Penny looked at her.
"Francis..."
"Yeah?"
"Uh... I think it would be better for you to stay here."
"How come, Penny?"
"It's gonna be dangerous!"
"Hey, Penny!" Amy called Penny's name.
Penny turned around to find the mobians glaring at her.
"You're not staying behind, are you?" Silver asked.
"All right, let's just go!" Penny said.
The X-Tornado transformed, and they soon took off.
Mr. Stewart watched with open mouth.
...
At Eggman's layer, Rouge dodged another attack from Eggman's robot.
"Hurry, set the charges!" She ordered. Topaz obeyed, putting the charges on the bot.
"OK!" Topaz gave Rouge a thumbs up. Rouge smiled as she pressed the button, and the robot exploded.
Rouge and Topaz high fived each other.
...
In Eggman's layer, the robots were panicking. "Our situation is becoming dangerous!" Decoe said. "Those soldiers have us outnumbered!"
"We must formulate a new strategy quickly!" Becoe said. "Before they deactivate us!"
Something shown on the computer.
"Another enemy ship is approaching!" Becoe said. "This one must not get through!"
The robots quickly pressed buttons on the computer, and fired.
What they didn't know was that it was Eggman approaching. Eggman screamed as he dodged the lasers and missiles.
"Cease fire!" Eggman cried. "Cease fire!"
...
Watching missiles land on his layer, Eggman smirked. "The president thinks he's got me in his sights!" He laughed. "Ha! Well, I hope you didn't rehears a victory speech because I'm back in command now!"
He screamed again as he dodged missiles. "Hey, those are MY missiles!"
...
"The attack on Eggman's base seems to be failing." The reporter said vaguely.
Danny, Kat, and Chris's eyes widened when the news reporter reported that a new ship was joining the fight.
"AH!" The three kids looked at each other. "It's the X-Tornado!"
People looked at the trio.
"Tornado?" Someone asked Danny.
"Where did that come from?" Another girl asked Kat.
"There's something on the craft. It appears to be a blue... and silver... It can't be! They're blue and silver hedgehogs?!"
"It's Sonic and Silver!" Kat, Danny, and Chris cried in shock.
People now turned to the trio of kids, asking, "Who are those dudes?"
"What're those names again?"
"They're Sonic and Silver!"
"Sonic and Silver the Hedgehogs!"
...
In Eggman's layer, Rouge and her agents were once again on the run. That's when the wall behind them exploded, and another security bot came in view.
"There's another one?!" Topaz asked in shock.
"Don't be surprised, sweetie." Rouge smiled. "I'll handle the robot. You lead the team to the generator room and set the charges!"
Topaz nodded. "All right, guys, follow me!"
Rouge took off after the robot as Topaz and her crew ran towards the generator.
But their luck ran short as more security bots blocked their path.
...
Rouge seemed to be having more bad luck. No matter how hard she tried, the robot had grasped her in its grip. Rouge broke free, and realized her team needed help.
As the army of security robots fired, something red with white gloves jumped in to save the day.
"Knuckles!" Rouge cried in shock.
Knuckles dodged past the lasers with ease and managed to break through each of the robots until the last one was destroyed.
"Wow." Topaz walked up to Knuckles. "Thank you. You're one of Sonic and Silver's friends, aren't you?"
"We're not friends!" Knuckles said. He was pretty fed up with Sonic and Silver. He turned to Topaz. "But you do know them, don't you?"
Realizing that she would be easily discovered by Knuckles, Rouge hid behind an agent.
"By the way, what are you and your crew here trying to do anyway?" Knuckles asked.
"We came here to destroy Eggman's base." Rouge said. "In fact, we're on our way to sabotage the generator room right now."
"There's no way you could do it!" Knuckles said. "That room will be impossible to get into!"
"Really?" Rouge asked.
"We have to try!" Topaz said.
"You'll fail." Knuckles said. He then grinned. "Unless you bring me along! I can't wait to see the look on Sonic and Silver's face when he finds out that I helped defeat Dr. Eggman while he missed out on the glory. That will mess with their ego."
"Sounds like you got a inferiority complex!"
"Hu?" Knuckles turned to Rouge in surprise. "I have a what..."
"Oh, nothing. Never mind, Knuckles!" Rouge chuckled.
...
Eggman was pretty furious with his robots for firing at him. "THAT WAS ME!" He roared. "YOU TIN CAN TURKEYS NEARLY WIPED OUT THE EVILEST GENIUS IN THE UNIVERSE!"
"Sorry doctor!" Decoe said, embarrassed.
"Sorry, doctor!" Bocoe also looked embarrassed.
Eggman zoomed in to look at Sonic and Silver, who were smirking. "I'll wipe that smirk of Sonic and Silver's face!" He roared.
"This time, I'm not holding back!" He started pressing a few buttons and a whole bunch of missiles came swooping out of the layer.
...
"What's that?!" Penny panicked, seeing the missiles.
"Hang on tight, Penny!" Tails ordered.
Dr. Eggman fired his missiles at them, and we screamed, but Tails managed to dodge the missiles.
"WE'RE GONNA CRASH!" Penny cried.
"Relax, Penny. We're fine!" Tails smiled.
Thankfully, Tails dodged the missiles again, and the missiles collided with each other.
"Petty cool, hu?" Asked Sonic.
...
Watching in Station Square, Kat, Chris, and Danny all cheered. "GO SILVER! GO SONIC!"
This got the crowed riled up, and everyone began cheering for the blue and silver hedgehogs on the plane.
...
Tails had his lasers shoot a circle in the wall. "How's that, guys?" Tails asked.
"Perfect." Sonic and Silver smirked. They jumped off the X Tornado and smashed into the circle that was traced by lasers. Once inside Eggman's layer, the two hedgehogs smirked, ready for a fight. They dashed through the wall, but were suddenly stopped by Dr. Eggman.
"That's close enough!" Eggman smirked. "It was a fluke that it pushed you this far! But now your lucky streak is over, Sonic and Silver!"
The hedgehogs watched with open mouths as the biggest security bot they have ever seen popped into view. Eggman flew his mobile to the top of his machine and set his mobile on the head. "Ready, hedgehogs?" He sneered.
Sonic smirked. "You bet, Dr. E!"
"I'm ready if you're ready." Silver said.
Punch after punch, Eggman made his robot attack Sonic and Silver. Thankfully, they dodged the punches with ease.
...
In the generator room, Rouge, Topaz, Knuckles, and the other agents placed the demolition charges around the generator. The commander ran up to Topaz, saluting her. "The demolition charges are all set, Ma'am."
"Good work!" Topaz said. She turned to Rouge. "Looks like we're ready, Rouge!" She looked around and noticed her friend was gone. "Where'd Rouge go?"
Knuckles walked up to Topaz and pointed skyward. "I saw her go that way." He said. He pointed up to the floor they were just on.
"What on earth would she be doing there?" Topaz asked. Knuckles shrugged.
...
"Aww, Eggman must be keeping the Chaos Emeralds someplace else now." Rouge said.
"HEY ROUGE!" Topaz called. Rouge looked down. "Yeah?" She asked.
"GET DOWN HERE, WE HAVE TO GO!"
"GO ON, I'LL CATCH UP!"
Topaz didn't like the sound of that. "WE NEED YOU!" She called.
"There's something I gotta take care of first!" Rouge said.
To their surprise, the doors slammed in their faces.
"They locked us up!" Rouge said. "But not for long!" She flew to the door, and tossed all her punches and kicks on the door. It wouldn't budge. "I can't kick through!" Rouge panted.
"Leave it to me!" Knuckles said fiercely. He threw his hardest punch at the door, but it didn't even make a dent! The echidna sweated. "It didn't even make a dent!" He cried. Knuckles punched even more. Topaz looked at her watch that was the timing of the bomb, and began to sweat. She turned to her men. "Is there time to defuse the charge?" She asked.
The men shook their heads.
Topaz finally gave in and slunk to the ground. "Well, that's it..." She muttered.
"We're not giving up yet!" Knuckles said fiercely.
"He's right!" Rouge smiled. "Together, we have a fighting chance!"
Together, with all their strength, both echidna and bat pulled their kicks and punches at the wall. Third time's the charm!
Right?
...
Meanwhile, Sonic and Silver were having a tough time on their own. Eggman and his robot were tough, but so were they. Sonic and Silver yelped in pain as Eggman smashed his robot right into the two hedgehogs. Eggman had his robot smash the two partners in the wall, causing them to groan in pain then fall on the ground. Before they could hit the ground, though, Eggman had his robot crush the poor hedgehogs into the wall.
"HA!" Eggman laughed. "THEY'RE OUT!"
When the dust cleared, though, Sonic and Silver emerged from the debris. They launched another attack...
But Eggman smirked. "The pressure's on now, Sonic and Silver!" He smirked. His robot soon once again smashed onto the wall, crushing Sonic and Silver, who grunted in pain. "Arg. We've gotten out of tighter squeezes!" Sonic grunted in pain.
"That's true, but you've finally met your match!"
Sonic squeezed his head out of the robot's hand, and Silver did the same. They noticed the Chaos Emeralds in their cases, glowing.
"So that's it!" Sonic grunted.
"I've been looking forward for this, Sonic and Silver..."
His phone suddenly rang. "Hello?" He answered.
"This will be a cinch." Sonic muttered to his partner, noticing Eggman was distracted. Using all their strength, they managed to break free from the arms and run as fast as they can. Ignoring the doctor's protests, the hedgehogs slammed themselves right into the body of the robot. They laughed victoriously as they hopped out with two emeralds in their hands.
"NO!" Eggman cried. "GIVE THOSE BACK!"
The emeralds glowed in Sonic and Silver's hands, and they managed to zoom forward through the robot, destroying it and ignoring Eggman's screams.
Soon, Sonic and Silver burst through the door, leaving Eggman to his doom. Eggman flew his mobile out before the robot exploded right here and there. Soon, they started doing the same thing to Eggman's layer... using the Chaos Emeralds to help them smash the building.
...
Topaz and the others began to panic. The bomb was almost ready to give away.
"We need to get out of here!" Topaz cried.
"Don't worry." Knuckles smiled. "I'll use my fists to punch us through!" With one mighty punch, Knuckles punched through the door. "All right!" Knuckles cheered.
"LOOK OUT!" Rouge suddenly pushed him away from two swirling balls of Sonic and Silver, dashing through the building. Knuckles frowned. "SHOW OFFS!" He complained. He looked at Rouge. "GET OFF! I WANNA FIGHT TOO!"
"Don't give me orders." Rouge scolded, friendly poking him on the head. She followed her agents out the door. "I'm in charge of this organisation. You follow my lead."
"YEAH?!" Knuckles growled. "Well, following you is what trapped us here to start with!"
"You're cute when you're angry." Rouge smiled.
Topaz came up to them. "WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE NOW!"
Everyone dashed out of Eggman's layer as soon as it exploded.
Possibly from the Emeralds, a huge light appeared. Everyone covered their eyes from the bright light and clung to the grass and anything they could grab on to.
...
Watching on the news, everyone cheered as they watched Eggman's layer get destroyed.
"But.. where's Sonic and Silver?" Danny asked.
"They'll get out, won't they, Kat?" Chris asked his friend.
Kat just watched the screen with worry in her eyes.
"Yeah, don't you think they'll get out ok?" A man asked Albert, who was standing beside Danny, Kat, and Chris.
...
Watching the whole thing on TV, Chuck frowned. "That fireball's huge. I hope Sonic and Silver will make it out on time."
Cream, Cheese, Blaze, Cloud, and Hiro turned to him. "I'm sure we'll see them any second!" She smiled.
"Cream's right. Sonic and Silver are tough. They can survive that!" Blaze said.
...
Penny watched the entire fireball explosion. "Sonic..." The girl muttered.
"He'll make it out ok, Penny!" Tails said, looking at Penny with a smile.
"I hope you're right..." Penny frowned.
Tails was right. For, to our surprise, Sonic and Silver flew out of a trail of smoke and landed on the X Tornado, both Chaos Emeralds in hand.
"ALL RIGHT, SONIC AND SILVER!" Everyone cheered.
Once again, the heroes had another victory against Eggman.
