"Why didn't you tell me Karen was drugged?"
"I didn't know that."
"That's why you left in such a hurry this morning, right?"
"No. I was looking for Savannah."
"You didn't go to the hotel?"
"Yes, and that's why I told you that I had to talk to you about something. I wanted to make sure the babies are okay before I talked about our other kids. The babies are my priority right now."
"All of our kids are my priority. So why were you at the hotel?"
"Savannah called me last night, and it was around 11:00. I wanted to make sure she was okay. She didn't answer when I called her back. I called Serenity and Karen. They didn't answer, so I was going to the hotel to ask Serenity if she had talked to Savannah. When I got to the hotel, the manager let me in the hotel room. Savannah and Serenity were there. Karen stumbled into the room a few minutes later, and she vomited. Savannah smelled like alcohol. And then you called. I left the hotel and said I would deal with their problems later."
"Savannah and Karen are drinking together?" Fitz asked.
"Serenity says Karen did not give Savannah alcohol. I don't know the truth. I know Serenity knows something, but I don't know what it is."
"I ran into Serenity at the vending machine downstairs before I took Sebastian to get breakfast. I tried to call Karen. She didn't answer the phone. Serenity and Savannah are not answering their phone either. I'm guessing they're still downstairs."
"I don't know Fitz. Let's deal with them in a few hours."
"You stay here with the babies and Sebastian. I'm going to find Savannah and Serenity."
"Okay, I'll call you if the nurses give me any more news about the babies."
Fitz left Olivia standing at the glass window. Sebastian was in the waiting room texting his friends. A few minutes later, a nurse gave Olivia the news that the babies were not addicted to drugs. They were healthy, but they were still preemies. They would need to be in the hospital a few weeks. Olivia was surprised to see Karen at the nurses station. The nurse pointed to Olivia standing next to the glass window.
"Karen, where are my kids?"
"They're at Mellie's house right now."
"Why are they with Mellie?"
"I need to speak with you, and I don't think that they should hear this conversation."
"I have to call Fitz. He's looking for Savannah and Serenity right now."
Olivia called Fitz and let him know that their kids are at Mellie's house. He was going to get Savannah and Serenity. They were not going to be rewarded with a day of hanging out with Kelly.
"Okay, I'm listening." Olivia said to Karen.
"I know your surrogate Lacey. She is blackmailing me. I'm going to tell you this information even though I know it will ruin my career in politics. I want you to know the truth about Lacey."
"How is Lacey blackmailing you?"
"She has pictures of me with powder on my face. I was drugged so I don't know anything."
"Karen what is this about?"
"I know Lacey from ballet school. She stopped going to ballet lessons because she has a lot of family problems. She was a drug addict. I don't know if she did drugs when she was pregnant with your babies."
"How long have you known this?"
"Since I came to DC."
"And you are just now telling me this about Lacey?"
"I was going to tell you. I'm here now. Do you realize how much that I'm losing by telling you this? I won't have a career in politics because of your problem with Lacey. I came here to work in the White House. You should have made sure that the agency drug tested your surrogate. I didn't have to tell you any of this. I care about the babies, and I don't think Lacey deserves a damn thing. What you choose to do with this information is your business. I'm just giving you the facts."
"Okay, now I need you to tell me about Savannah."
"What do you want to know about Savannah?"
"Why was she at the hotel with you smelling like alcohol?"
"I handled the situation."
"Savannah is my child not yours."
"Her friends left her stranded at the gas station yesterday."
"Her friends are 14. They can't drive."
"There was alcohol at the house. Savannah had a daiquiri."
"You should have told me that when I was at the hotel."
"How was I supposed to tell you anything when I was vomiting?"
"Karen, I thought you were a responsible young lady. Apparently, you are just a big kid. So you can't stay at the hotel anymore."
"I helped you out by picking up Savannah from the gas station. I had a few drinks and I was drugged. You think I'm irresponsible?"
"You've been drinking alcohol like a fish drinks water. You haven't been 21 for a full month and you've lost your damn mind."
"You cannot speak to me like that. I'm an adult."
"You're a little girl who pays for your alcohol with Mommy's credit card."
"I take care of your damn kids while you're taking vacations in Vermont like a careless young adult. You have two newborns while one of your kids is trying to have a hot girl summer. You need to get your priorities in order and stop having new babies. They're not cute little dolls. Babies grow up. I guess you don't know that yet."
"Give me my credit card."
"What?"
"You are not going to speak to me like that while I pay your bills. You need to find another way to support yourself."
"I don't have a paycheck yet, and I probably won't have a job when those pictures are sent to the White House."
"That is your problem Karen. This conversation is over. I have to speak with the nurse about my babies."
