Chapter 14
The next morning, well, technically only a few hours later, Liam woke up to the sound of the stupid birds chirping. There was a huge window on one side of the bedroom, and the outside window sill was definitely big enough to house birds. Once he was awake, he glanced over at the alarm clock. 9:30. There wasn't really any point in him going back to sleep. He looked over at Fallon and saw that she was still sound asleep. He stayed in bed for a few moments before pulling back the covers and standing up. He quickly made his way to the bathroom and did his morning routine, before exiting the bedroom, leaving Fallon to sleep a while longer.
He checked his emails and surfed Twitter and Instagram until 10, when he decided to get up and make breakfast for himself and Fallon. He didn't know if she still liked all the things she used to, but he had to make something. He quickly whipped together some pancakes, bacon, and a fruit salad. Once he was done, he plated everything and brought it to Fallon.
"Good morning." Liam greeted, gently trying to wake up Fallon.
"Ugh, why are you waking me up so early in the morning?" Fallon groaned, shielding her eyes from the light.
"It's 10:45. It's not that early. And I made you breakfast."
"Couldn't it have waited a few more hours?"
"Ok, I guess I'll go put it in the fridge." Liam said, feeling a bit dejected.
"No, just stay." Fallon felt bad when she saw his facial expression.
"It's fine, Fallon. It was stupid of me to make you breakfast this early, and I don't even know if you still like what I made you."
"What did you make?"
"Pancakes, bacon, and a fruit salad."
"I still like that. I haven't had it in a while, because you know I don't cook, but I do still like it. I'm sorry I complained. I get that you were just trying to be nice."
"Now, you eat your breakfast. I'm gonna go back to my hotel."
"What? Why?"
"Because I think we've already had enough of each other this morning, and I need to go take a shower and change."
"Why don't you want to eat with me? Didn't you make food for yourself?"
"I did, but I'm not that hungry. I'll be back in a few hours." And with that, Liam was out of the bedroom. A few moments later, Fallon heard the front door open and quickly close.
Fallon let out a sigh. She knew this was her fault. When she'd woken up, she saw the smile on his face. He was excited to see how she'd react to breakfast in bed. When she'd made her stupid comments, she'd hurt his feelings. Seeing his smile falter hurt Fallon's heart. But then again, how were they ever supposed to fix anything if they were both being so overly sensitive about stupid stuff like this? Fallon knew she had to apologize. Technically, she already did, but clearly it didn't get through to him. She'd have to apologize again, and truly mean it.
After she finished her breakfast, she rolled out of bed and started getting ready. It took a couple hours. Liam knew her so well. She dressed in a pair of maternity jeans (gasp), and a nice, form-fitting top. Fallon's wardrobe had changed since she became pregnant. At the beginning, of course, she wasn't showing, hadn't gained any weight, so she was still wearing all of her normal clothes. By the middle of month three, she started showing, meaning she had to start shopping for maternity clothes. She hated the look of maternity dresses, so she opted for maternity pants, mostly. Jeans, sweats, leggings, anything that wouldn't be too tight on her belly. She knew Liam would probably be confused when he saw her. Fallon was a little excited to surprise him. She knew he probably wouldn't be very happy to see her, but maybe he'd be at least surprised by her outfit.
Once she was completely ready, she texted Liam and practically begged him to come back. His answer was not what Fallon was hoping for
I will come back when you decide you're ready to be appreciative of the effort I'm making to win you back. I'm leaving back to Atlanta at 2. You can either be on the jet with me, or not. You decide.-L
Fallon glanced at the time. 12:45. How the hell was she supposed to pack up everything and make it to the hangar by 2? She knew she had to try and prove to him that was serious about repairing their relationship, but she didn't know how.
After wallowing in self-pity for half an hour, Fallon decided to get up and start trying to pack. She shoved some clothes into a few bags, shoes in another, jewelry in another. By the time she was done, 5 bags were overstuffed with any of her belongings she could find. Within 15 minutes, she was in her Bentley, rushing to the airport. Of course, she wasn't driving, though. She'd hired a driver when she moved to New York.
She'd made it to the airport, somehow, with 10 minutes to spare. She was able to bypass security, due to the fact she was Fallon Carrington Ridley, and could pay her way out of anything. She got to the hangar, and was beyond relieved to see Liam.
"I'm so sorry, Liam. I never meant to make you feel like I don't appreciate the effort you're putting in. I need to put more effort in, and I know that. I'm sorry." Fallon rambled out, slightly out of breath, as she caught up to Liam, who was standing outside of the jet.
"Why did you wait until the last minute to come? Were you deciding whether or not to come back to Atlanta?" Liam asked, deciding not to accept her apology right away.
"I didn't know what to do. I knew I wanted to come back to Atlanta, but I didn't know if, even if I did, we'd continue fixing our relationship. I thought you were done. With me, with us, with our family." Fallon was trying so hard to not let the tears flooding her eyes slip over.
"I'm not, I'm just frustrated. I get that you need time, but I don't know how much time I can give you. I'd like to have our relationship mostly fixed before we become parents, and that's not that long from now. If you keep trying to push me away, then maybe one day you'll be successful."
"I'm sorry. I honestly didn't even think I'd ever get the chance to continue this marriage. I thought we were done, for real, this time. It's gonna take more than a few days for me to realize that you're not leaving again."
"Fallon, I'm not gonna leave you. It was a mistake the first time, but I've learned better. I love you, and I love what we used to have. I love the fact that we're married, and that we're gonna be parents together. I'm not gonna leave you." Fallon's efforts to keep her tears at bay were now futile. Tears slipped down her cheeks, taking a thin layer of makeup with them. "Don't cry, Fal." He whispered, sweetly, using his thumb to wipe away her tears.
"I can't help it. I'm pregnant and hormonal." She gave, letting a watery smile form on her face.
"So, are you ready to go back to Atlanta together? Start our new lives as parents?" Liam asked, holding out his hand for her to take.
"I've never been more ready." She affirmed, taking his hand.
As she sat through the plane ride, Fallon couldn't help but think back at her life. She remembered herself as a hurt, scared 15 year old, and how Beck, Cat, Andre, and Robbie changed her. They helped her, even if indirectly, get through the hurt. They helped her be able to grow out of Jade West. In hindsight, even after all the fighting, Fallon was glad Beck was Paisley's father. Other than his drug problem, he was a great father. She missed Paisley dearly, but she knew what she'd done was what was best for Paisley. And maybe one day, in the future, Paisley would reach out and they'd be able to repair their relationship. Fallon knew she hadn't had a perfect life, but she'd had a (mostly) good one. Things hadn't always gone her way, but they'd gone the way they were supposed to go.
A/N: And I think this is the end. I hope you all enjoyed. Thanks for coming along for the ride :)
