Remus POV
Since there were still a few days of break left you would think I could get a break but sadly, no. The full moon was today. Another night of lying and pain.
"Hey guys, I'm actually spending the last 3 days of break with my mum. She's feeling ill again, and wants me to visit. I'm leaving tonight." I said a little nervously.
"Oh, she's ill again? That's the 6 time this year." Sirius said.
"Yea…bad luck I guess."
"Well, I hope she gets better." James said looking up from his prank book.
"Yea, thanks" I muttered.
"So, what do you guys want to do right now?" Peter asked.
The truth? I didn't want to do anything but sleep in. Just like on all full moons, I felt like an ogre had hit me with his club 100 times, then did it again.
"Remus are you sure you're not ill, you look really pale." James pointed out
"I'm fine" I said mumbling and stuffing my face into my pillow. "Just tired. You guys go ahead and go on, I'll come later."
I saw them exchange looks of concern, but finally nodded and left.
I took one of the potions Madam Pomfrey gave me last time. She said it would make me feel less drowsy. I feel asleep, for 1 minute maybe an hour when I heard people coming into the room, someone shouted, "Remus!" and I fell out of my bed.
I focused better, and saw that it was my friends who had come back, I got up and rubbed my head where I hit it.
"Finally, you're awake!" James said grinning.
"We were worried, so we went to see Madam Pomfrey, and met Professor McGonagall too. Both of them told us to let you rest, so we didn't come sooner." Peter said
"Yea, you've been asleep for 4 hours!" Sirius said plopping down next to me.
"What! I've been asleep for 4 hours? What time is it!" I said panicking a little.
"Its 2, don't worry we got you food from the kitchens, and we got you this" Sirius said handing me a book. "We thought it would make you feel better.
I looked at the book and was shocked, I knew this book was from the restricted section of the library.
"How did you guys get- oh the invisibility cloak."
"Yup!" said James pulling the cloak from behind him.
"Thanks guys, don't worry I'm feeling better already." This wasn't the whole truth but it wasn't exactly a lie either. The potion Madam Pomfrey gave me was working. I didn't feel as bad.
We spent the next few hours playing exploding snap, and taking occasional detours under James's invisibility cloak. Finally, the time came for me to 'go to my mum.' I said bye to my friends, and went to the whomping willow. Since I was use to this routine Madam Pomfrey didn't have to come with me anymore, she would come later after my transformation, to heal me.
I went inside the room, which was now covered in so much blood it looked like a scene from a horror movie.
Suddenly pain materialized in my body, and I fell to the floor. I could feel my bones transform into wolf bones. After that, I don't know what happened I panicked, and blacked out.
When I woke up, I was back to my normal self. I noticed that I was in the hospital wing again, with bandages in many places. My wounds didn't seem too bad, so I guessed Madam Pomfrey had healed them. I started to think of what my friends would be doing right now. Probably sneaking somewhere under James's invisibility cloak. I laughed at the thought of that then winced because some of my wounds still hurt like crazy.
A few minutes later Madam Pomfrey came in, and gave me the dreamless sleep potion. I drank it right away, and fell asleep in seconds. For a while all the pain went away.
The next day something happened. I was in bed reading a book when I heard a very familiar voice. It was Peter. What was he doing in the infirmary? Luckily there was a curtain separating us so he didn't see me. I heard him and Madam Pomfrey talking
Peter winced and said, "Bludger"
"And if I may ask, how did you get hit by a bludger."
"I was watching quidditch practice with my friends, and a stray bludger hit me."
"Well, good thing its only a broken arm, lay down on this bed, and please do not open the curtain. The patient is very distressed."
I couldn't tell if Madam Pomfrey was joking about the 'distressed' part. I was a mess.
A few hours later, Sirius and James came to get Peter.
"How's your arm Pete?" James asked
"Better"
"Well on the bright side when Remus gets back you can tell him how you bravely survived a stray bludger attack." Sirius joked.
"Yea I guess I could" Peter said weakly.
"Is it just me or does something seem of to you about Remus?" James asked. "He goes to see his ill mother every month, but when the time comes for him to go he's the one who seems ill."
I winced at this statement. My friends were on to me.
"I don't know, maybe it's a family thing? When one person gets ill the other one gets ill too." Sirius said
"Really Sirius? When have you heard of anything like that?"
Sirius shrugged.
Finally, after what seemed a long time Sirius, James, and Peter left.
Another day passed in the infirmary, and I was finally allowed to leave. I was a little bit scared to go back to my friends, after hearing their suspicion of me, but when I went to them, they acted as if whatever they said yesterday was nothing.
"Hey Remus!" Sirius said scrambling out of bed.
"Guess what happened. Pete got hit by a bludger." James said pointing to Peters' arm.
I tried to act surprised and said, "Wait, really! Are you ok?"
"Yea, I got out of the infirmary yesterday."
"So, I guess it's boring old classes tomorrow." James said flopping down.
"Yea, we also have our exams in a few weeks." I reminded them
"Great, thanks for the reminder" Sirius mumbled.
"No problem!" I said, while James, Sirius, and Peter hit me with their pillows.
I'm not entirely sure but this is going to be one of the last chapters in this book. What I'm most likely going to do is write a chapter about the exams, then one more about the marauders leaving for summer. But anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! please review :)
