A/N: hey everyone! Glad you loved the last chapter! Here is the next part, hopefully it's just as good! If there's any mistakes, please forgive me! I've tried to proofread but it's always hard when it's your own work! Thanks for all your reviews, I love reading your feedback and it motivates me to keep writing and try to get chapters out as quickly as I can! Hopefully this chapter answers some of your question about Callie's reaction and the whole talk thing. I hope it does anyway!
To the guest reviewer who asked where they are living now, it's on the east coast, it will all be revealed in a future chapter! (Not that it's much of a reveal haha)
Chapter 14
"You don't want kids," Callie asked Arizona, finally breaking the silence. She was trying to stay calm and talk this out like reasonable adults. She could feel the anger starting to bubble and with all her might she tried to keep it at bay. Or maybe it was sadness, she wasn't quite sure.
"Callie, I didn't want kids. Tim's telling stories from when I was in my early 20's and thought I was going to have a thriving career as a surgeon with no time for a child," Arizona answered calmly.
"Are you saying I don't have time for my child or that my career isn't thriving?"
"You're twisting my words! I didn't mean it like that," Arizona defended herself. "I was young when I said those things, said I never wanted kids!"
"I'm not twisting your words, that's exactly what you said! I'm either a neglectful mother or a terrible surgeon! I know we haven't talked about but you're a principal and you work with kids!" Callie argued.
"You know I don't think either of those things! Why won't you listen to what I'm saying? I've changed since then Callie, it was years ago," Arizona fought back, trying to keep her voice down.
"I cannot believe this," Callie said, her hand on her forehead as she paced around the living room. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"There was nothing to tell! You wanted to take it slow and this felt like a conversation for when things were getting serious!"
"You're my girlfriend, things are serious, and I wish I had known you didn't want kids before we got to this point."
"Oh my god, will you listen to what I'm saying! You're being so stubborn!"
"I'm listening, Arizona, and not once have you said you want kids."
"You haven't let me get a word in! You're only hearing what you want to hear," Arizona argued. "Will you just shup up and listen to me?"
Callie stopped for a moment and took a deep breath. Once she was calm, she was able to comprehend what Arizona was trying to say. She wasn't letting her talk and she needed. She could see Arizona pleading with her eyes for Callie to stop and listen.
"Fine, tell me what you want to say then."
Looking around the room, Arizona felt the tension in the air. She knew if they stayed here that they would boil over. "Follow me," Arizona instructed Callie, grabbing her hand and leading her out of the house.
"Where are we going," Callie asked she followed Arizona outside and down towards the lake.
"Do you trust me?'
"What?"
"Do you trust me?"
"Yes," Callie nodded.
"Then trust me. I don't think everyone needs to keep hearing us fighting about this when they are trying to sleep."
Holding Callie's hand, Arizona lead them down to the lake. When they got to the shore, they walked around the lake until they reached a gazebo that overlooked the lake. It was set back a bit from the water and slightly hidden by some bushes and trees. As they walked into the shelter, Callie looked around at her surroundings. Even though there was bushes and trees around them, they could still see the lake and some of the stars depending on where they stood.
"How did you know about this place?"
"Tim and I used to bring girls here when we were teenagers," Arizona answered. "He brought anyone, but I used to only bring the special ones, before you get all offended by it."
"So, you want me to listen, I'm listening," Callie said, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Tim's right. I never wanted kids and up until a year ago I would have said the same thing. But it was because I never thought I was going to find someone I wanted to have kids with. That is until I found you. I'd never thought about kids being a part of my future, but YOU changed my mind, Calliope. You and Sofia," Arizona explained. She took a few tentative steps closer to Callie.
"Oh," Callie said calmly as she played with her hands. She was a little bit embarrassed at her reaction now and she was sure everyone had heard them fighting.
"You know I think you're an awesome mum and a bad ass surgeon," Arizona said softly as she got closer even to Callie. "And I know with you by my side that I could be a good mum as well."
"I'm sorry. I just didn't know what to think when Tim was saying all that stuff," Callie admitted. She took a few steps to close the gap between the two of them.
"Yeah well, he's an idiot who won't be alive much longer," Arizona chuckled as she rested her forehead on Callie's. "Are we okay?"
"Yeah," Callie nodded, "we're good. I'm sorry Arizona." Callie couldn't help the tears that started to roll down her cheek.
"Hey, it's okay," Arizona said as she wiped away the tears.
"Why do you put up with my crazy," Callie chuckled.
"Because you are so incredibly sexy," Arizona smiled. "Plus, I find it kind of hot when you get all fired up like that. It shows how passionate you are about things you care about. I love that about you."
"Really? It doesn't like annoy or make you want to talk away because I have a quick fuse," Callie asked quietly.
"It makes you worth fighting for," Arizona said, lifting Callie's chin.
Both women smiled at each other before embracing in a heated kiss. Arizona's hands were on Callie's face, pulling her impossibly closer. It didn't take long for them to be lost in the feel of each other. Hands wandered on bodies, squeezing, groping and feeling anything they could. Their bodies were grinding and pushing up against each other, creating heat and friction. Callie moved her kisses down Arizona's jaw and neck before she started to suck on the blonde's collarbone, eliciting soft moans. Feeling herself become more and more turned on, Arizona slipped her thigh between Callie's legs and pushed it up slightly, applying pressure to Callie's center.
"Mmm, Arizona," Callie moaned as she stopped kissing her neck and took a step back.
"Usually when you moan my name, you don't stop what we're doing," Arizona smirked, closing the gap between the two.
"I don't think we should start anything we can't finish. I mean, we're in public and there's no way we're having sex in your parent's house when your dad didn't even want us sleeping in the same room!"
"Being in public adds a kind of, danger factor, that it makes it so much sexier. No one is going to see us here. Besides, I miss your body, I need to touch you," Arizona husked, her eyes squinting as she took steps closer to Callie. For every step Arizona took, Callie took a matching one back until she was up against the railing and had nowhere to go. She wanted to touch Arizona and feel her naked body rub against hers, it had been too long since she had last felt that. She knew exactly how Arizona felt right now. Their talk about babies had sent electric shocks to her core and had been wet ever since.
"Arizona," Callie said softly before they started kissing again. Callie tangled her hands in golden locks as she sat up on the railing, her legs parting so that Arizona would fit between them.
"If you want to stop, you need to tell me now," Arizona whispered between kisses. "Because I don't think I'll be able to stop myself if we go any further."
"I don't want you to stop," Callie whispered back, "I need you to touch me."
Arizona smiled at Callie's words. She leaned in and captured her plump lips in a searing kiss. Callie moaned at the contact, her hands pulling Arizona's hair slightly, so she had access to the creamy skin below Arizona's jaw. As Callie's lips came in contact with the sensitive skin, Arizona moaned as she got more and more turned on.
While Callie kissed and sucked on her neck, Arizona slid her hands down Callie's body, stopping at her breasts to squeeze them through her shirt. Callie moaned into Arizona's neck as she felt the blonde massage her breasts.
"We should be quick," Callie moaned, "everyone will be wondering where we are."
Obliging Callie's request, Arizona moved her hands down lower, undoing the buttons and zipper of Callie's shorts. Lifting up slightly, Callie made sure their lips were only apart for as long as it took to get her pants down. Once her pants were down, Arizona rubbed her fingers against Callie's core through her panties.
"God," Arizona groaned, "you're so wet."
"All that talk about babies got me worked up. It's hot when you talk about our future," Callie said as she peppered kisses up from Arizona's shoulders back to her mouth.
Arizona couldn't resist it any longer. She pulled Callie's panties to the side and started rubbing her clit. She started with slow circular motions, but every time Callie moaned, she sped up slightly. As Callie started bucking her hips, Arizona slipped two fingers inside Callie.
"Oh my god," Callie groaned, her head resting on Arizona's shoulder as the blonde pumped in and out. "Keep going. Right there."
Arizona didn't need anymore encouraging. She sped up her fingers and applied pressure back on Callie's clit. Her arm started burning slightly but she could tell that Callie was close to her orgasm. If they had been at home, she would have slowed down, prolonging Callie's build up. But they weren't at home and she couldn't take her time.
"Cum for me Calliope," Arizona purred in Callie's ear, biting down on her ear lobe.
That was all Callie need to push her over the edge. The moment she felt the pain of Arizona's teeth on her lobe, her muscles tightened as her body shuddered from the orgasm that ripped through her. Slumping forward, Arizona held Callie up as she milked her orgasm by slowly moving her fingers in and out. Once Callie's breathing evened out, Arizona slipped her fingers out of Callie and brought them up to her mouth and sucked the juices off them. Finally able to move again, Callie took Arizona's face in her hands and kissed her, trying to convey all her feelings into that moment.
"Thank you," Callie whispered.
"Don't thank me, I should be thanking you," Arizona chuckled softly.
"Not for the orgasm, you moron," Callie giggled.
Both of them sat there for a few more moments before deciding to head back to the house. Once Callie was decent, they made their way back to the house, hand in hand. Both Arizona and Callie knew in that moment that they had fallen in love. Deeply, madly in love.
The next day the family decided to go out on the lake on the Tim's boat. It wasn't very big, but it was big enough that every fit on it comfortably. He had bought as a celebration when he found out Zara was pregnant. They had agreed to the boat months before that and had been saving up for it. The front of the boat was long enough for Sofia to lie down and read her book with her mother and Arizona sitting near her. No one had mentioned the previous night's fight yet and it cause some tension between everyone.
Tim sat behind the wheel of the boat; Patrick strapped to his chest with Daniel standing next to him. They were looking for the best place to anchor down and swim. Daniel was pointing to a spot up ahead when Zara joined them.
"You need to talk to sister and apologise," Zara whispered to her husband.
"I know but I don't want to make her angry again. She seems to have worked it out with Callie," Tim whispered back.
"I didn't raise you to be a coward," Daniel added, "I'll take the wheel. Send Sofia up to help me."
"Thanks dad," Tim said with a hint of sarcasm.
Zara laughed at her husband before taking their son off him. She whispered words on encouragement before giving him a quick kiss on the cheek and rejoining Barbara at the back of the boat.
Sofia heard footsteps before she saw them. She sat up and saw Tim standing there awkwardly looking at them. He was playing with his hands the same way Arizona did when she had something important to say but didn't want to say it. Arizona and Callie noticed Sofia looking at someone and they both turned around to see Tim. Arizona groaned and turned away from him.
"I'm going to give you guys a moment," Sofia said as looked between the adults. She got up and walked past Tim. She gave him an encouraging pat on the shoulder before walking over to Daniel. She didn't mind spending her time with the older man. He was easy to talk to but was also easy to be with in silence.
"How well do you think this is going to go," Daniel asked the young girl as she joined him.
"After last night? Poorly is the only word I would use," Sofia joked.
"I would have to agree with you there," Daniel laughed as they watched the scene in front of them.
"I'll um, go and join and Sofia," Callie said as she went to get up.
"No, don't," Tim objected. "I owe you both an apology for last night."
"Is that your apology," Arizona asked her brother, refusing to look at him.
"Arizona," Callie warned her blonde girlfriend. Just because they had talked things out last night didn't mean Arizona wasn't still angry at her brother.
"No, she's right. I'm sorry that I was a jerk last night. I took it too far and should have listened when you told me to shut up. I didn't mean cause a fight between you guys," Tim said honestly. "And Callie, don't listen to anything I said, they were dumb stories from years ago."
"Thanks, Tim," Callie smiled before giving Arizona a nudge. "Talk to your brother," she whispered before getting up.
Arizona and Tim stayed in silence for an uncomfortably long time. Arizona had already forgiven him but he didn't know that and she enjoyed making him suffer a little bit. He kind of deserved it for almost ruining her relationship last night.
"You going to say anything," Tim asked, sitting down next to his sister.
"What do you want me to say? You were a jerk last night," Arizona shrugged. "I know you were just trying to show off or whatever, but can you not destroy my relationship in the process?"
"I'm sorry. I promise not tell anymore stories of you to try and embarrass you," Tim smiled at his sister. "Please forgive me, Ace," Tim begged, nudging his sister with his shoulder. "Please, please, please. I know you can't stay at mad me, we both know it. Besides I'm really annoying and eventually you will crack and forgive me."
"Fine," Arizona said, trying not to smile. "I hate you a little bit though."
"Love you too, sis," Tim smiled. "So, you wanna have kids with Callie?"
"I want everything with Callie," Arizona smiled, staring out at the water. "I don't want a life without either of them."
"Does this mean you'll stop being a workaholic and we'll see you and your family more than once over the summer?"
"I know I haven't been around as much you guys want me to, it was just easier to focus on work than the accident and then well, it became a habit," Arizona sighed.
"We love you Arizona. That will never change. You could be homeless and unemployed and we'd still love you," Tim reassured her.
"I know. It was just hard to come home to so much happiness when I couldn't feel it."
"And now?"
"Now? I feel it," Arizona smiled, "I feel it every day. You're right. They are my family."
And in her mind, they were her family. It just meant that she now had a lot to lose if it all went wrong. It couldn't wrong though. She was determined to make this work even with the little voice of doubt in the back of her mind.
Callie watched on as the two siblings talked. Even though she was unable to hear what they were saying, she could tell it was going well. Arizona seemed to relax instantly once her brother bumped her with his shoulder.
"Are you going to have more kids?"
Callie turned around and found her daughter staring at her, a determined looked in her eye. Daniel eyed both of them before turning his attention to the water, pretending not to listen. Callie appreciated the effort from Daniel. She focused back on her daughter who was still staring her down, expecting an answer. The question had kind of thrown her, they hadn't really had a personal conversation since their big fight before leaving.
"I've always wanted more kids," Callie answered. "It was my dream to give you siblings."
"Are you going to have them with Arizona?"
"I…don't know."
"I'd be okay if you and Arizona had kids," Sofia said thoughtfully, nodding as she said the words.
"Okay," Callie smiled, unsure of how to navigate this kind of conversation with her daughter. "We aren't there yet, though."
"I know," Sofia answered. "I just wanted you to know that I was okay with it, after your fight last night."
After the incident with Tim, the rest of their visit went smoothly. They spent a lot of time on the lake swimming and mucking around. Sofia continued to fish with Daniel and even managed to catch a few. The one she caught on their last afternoon was big enough for them to eat so Daniel showed her to prepare it so they could eat it. She thought it was cool because she got to cut it open, it was the closest thing to surgery she was able to do. Maybe fishing wasn't so bad after all.
They decided their last dinner together was going to be a family BBQ. Everyone was laughing and having a great time, knowing that it would end soon. Daniel watched as his daughter and her partner helped Barbara put together the sides for dinner. The smile that was currently on his daughter's face had made it all the way up to her eyes. It had been a long time she he had seen her smile that way.
"Callie," Daniel called out, "would you be able to come and help me please?" It wasn't that he needed help but he did want to have a moment alone with Callie. He had spent the week watching her. Watching how she interacted with the other members of his family, especially the way she was around Arizona. He knew his actions had put Callie on edge and he figured it was time to put her out of her misery. He had grown to like the brunette and had a big soft spot for her daughter.
"Sure," Callie smiled, trying to mask her nerves at spending time alone with Daniel.
"You'll be fine," Arizona whispered, giving her girlfriend a quick kiss on the cheek.
"What can I help you with Colonel," Callie asked as she stood nervously next to Daniel, silently shifting from foot to foot.
"What are your intentions with my daughter?"
Callie almost snorted in shock from the question. She had figured Daniel would ask these kinds of questions but she had hoped there would be some small talk to ease her in. She was not ready to jump straight in. She had to think for a moment and clear her thoughts. They hadn't. really spoken too much about their futures, they had touched on their pasts but they spent a lot of their time talking about work. The most they had spoken of their future had been here. She knew she wanted a future with Arizona. Nothing would make her happier.
Noticing that Callie was deep in thought, Daniel looked over to his daughter and wife who were now doting the newest Robbins member. He thought back to when he first Barbara. How young they were. How in love. It was such a whirlwind. Engaged and married quickly so that Barbara could go wherever he was posted. From the moment he laid eyes on his wife, he didn't want to be anywhere without her.
"When I met Barbara, she was this independent, carefree spirit," Daniel started telling Callie. She looked up at Daniel, unsure of where this conversation was going.
"From the moment I saw her I knew. She was the woman I couldn't live my life without. Barbara didn't me though, she made me work for it. The day she said yes to going out with me, I went home and shed a few tears. I was just so happy. I told myself that the happiness I felt in that moment was the happiness I needed to give Barbara. Watching her walk down the aisle, giving birth to our children, those are the moments the bar is raised. I don't think I can ever give her back what she's given me," Daniel told Callie as he flipped the meat on the BBQ.
"I guess, sir, that my intention would be to make her as happy as she makes me," Callie answered. "I don't have the best past, I've made mistakes and been heartbroken but with Arizona, she makes the future seem so bright."
"And Sofia?"
"I think she might love Arizona more than I do."
Both Callie and Daniel stopped, both shocked at Callie's admission. Not that Sofia loved Arizona more than Callie, everyone knew that, but that Callie loved Arizona. It was the first time she had said it out loud. It was out there now, unable to be taken back. Not that Callie wanted to take it back. She just wasn't sure if she was ready to say it Arizona yet.
"Regardless of your past, Callie, you have raised a wonderful daughter and you make my daughter very happy. Welcome to the family," Daniel smiled at Callie.
