Chapter 35A
It was a Saturday morning when Leonard woke up, feeling relieved as he would have a couple of days to spend with his family. He got off the bed and went straight to the bathroom to relieve himself and brush his teeth. After freshening up in the bathroom, he went to the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee, hearing his wife in the backyard singing to their son. He drank his coffee and decided to join his wife and son, finding her sitting on a chair with William mumbling baby sounds in response to his mother's singing while Buster stood by, looking at his mommy and brother. The dog saw Leonard and barked softly at him as Penny turned on her seat so that her son could see his father.
"Hi daddy! Good morning!" Penny said as William smiled upon seeing his father.
Leonard sat beside Penny, kissing her on the cheek before doing the same to his son. "Hey buddy! Are you singing along with mommy?" he said tickling his son's cheek, making the baby giggle and laugh.
"He wouldn't stop mumbling this morning." said Penny. "I guess it won't be long now until he says his first word huh?" she added.
"I'm sure his first word would be 'dada'." said Leonard.
"Oh yeah? Wanna bet?" Penny said smiling at Leonard.
"Okay! If I win, we'll have sex everyday for a week." he said making Penny glare at him, giving him a disgusted look.
"That is so gross. How could you say that in front of our son!?" she said nudging his side.
Leonard laughed a little. "I'm serious honey!" he said.
Penny sighed and hung her head. "Okay, if his first word is 'mama', then we won't have sex for two weeks!" she said, raising her eyebrows at him.
Leonard smiled. "Okay deal! But let's agree to not teach him his first word from now on. We'll let him figure it out." he said.
Penny sighed. "Fine." she said. "But right now, you need to go to the grocery store and get some stuff for the kitchen." Penny said, kissing him on the lips.
"Sure." he said as he looked at the dog. "You wanna come with me Buster?" he asked as the dog barked while wagging his tail. "Well you have to behave yourself and not run around while we're there or I'm never taking you with me again, do you understand?" he asked as Buster barked again.
"Thank you honey! I put the list of things we need on the fridge door." Penny yelled as Leonard went back into the house to get changed.
After ten minutes, Leonard put a leash on the dog as he kissed his wife and son goodbye. "Bye you two, I'll be back in no time." he said, kissing Penny again.
"Bye daddy!" said Penny as she gently waved William's hand to her husband.
Leonard put the dog on his basket and started his motorcycle, revving it a couple of times before putting it to gear, driving out into the road towards the grocery store.
He arrived at the grocery store, putting Buster in the cart as he started to put items from the list into it. After around twenty minutes of going around the store, he went to the cashier to checkout their items and pay their bill. The cashier recognized the dog and rubbed his head, earning a bark and a tail wag from Buster. After paying, Leonard put everything in a large tote bag before putting the dog in his basket. He carefully tied the tote bag on the back of the motorcycle before getting on it, starting the engine and driving away, going back home to his wife and son.

Leonard arrived home shortly, kicking the motorcycle stand before putting the dog on the ground. Buster quickly ran into the house barking, looking for his mommy and brother in the backyard as Leonard took the bag full of groceries into the kitchen, putting them in the fridge and kitchen counter. He then went tot he backyard to join his wife and son again.
"Hey, that was fast?" said Penny as Leonard kissed her on the cheek.
"Well, a certain boy was well-behaved when we were in the store." he said, referring to Buster.
Penny then looked down at the dog and quickly scratched his head. "Good boy Buster! Mommy's very proud of you!" she said as the dog barked at her, wagging his tail.
Leonard then took his son from Penny, standing him on his lap. "Hey buddy? Did you miss me?" he said kissing his son on his neck, making him scream with laughter while mumbling baby sounds. "Come on buddy, I know you could do it!" he said while bouncing his son on his lap. The baby giggled and laughed as Leonard continued to play with him.
Penny decided to take her son back. "Hi sweetheart! Mommy loves you so much!" she said kissing William gently on the cheek. The baby responded by mumbling to his mother while touching her face. "I know you can do it sweetie! Come on!" she said smiling at her son.
Leonard sighed. "I think we should give it a rest, he's not saying his first word today." he said kissing his wife. "Maybe some other day honey." he added as he stood up to go back inside the house. All of a sudden, William spoke his first word.
"Mama." the child said while touching Penny's face. Leonard turned around and didn't know how to react as he looked at his wife, similarly speechless.
"Mama." said William again as Penny shed a tear while hugging her son tight. William called his mother a few more times making Penny laugh out loud, standing up and raising her son in the air.
"Aww! I love you so much sweetheart!" she said nibbling her son's neck, making the baby explode with giggles. "You just made mommy very happy!" she said.
Leonard went near and kissed his wife and son. "I'm so happy for you honey!" he said hugging his wife.
"Remember our deal!" Penny said, looking him straight in the eye.
Leonard sighed and hung his head. "Fine. No sex for two weeks." he said. "Are you happy now?" he asked.
Penny kissed him on the lips. "So happy!" she said smiling at her husband. "Don't worry honey, if you remember, sometimes I just can't help myself, especially when I see you shirtless." she said biting her lower lip, teasing Leonard.
Leonard took the baby from Penny's arms. "Come on buddy, I think it's time for your nap." he said. "You need to sleep because your mommy and I have some stuff to do." he said.
Penny took her son back. "Nice try Hofstadter. You're not gonna get off that easy!" she said, laughing a little while taking William inside the house as the baby continued mumbling baby sounds.
