Breathing roughly as her husband stopped thrusting in her, Beckett reached up to his head and gently ran her hand over the back of it before telling him, "Good?"
"Yes," Castle was able to gasp out to her. He carefully pulled away and immediately grabbed for her, pulling her against his side. He kissed her deeply, slipping his tongue into her mouth before they parted slowly. "I'm not sorry for pawing at you, though should I apologize for doing that?" he asked her.
Beckett couldn't help laughing and she kissed his collarbone before telling him, "You don't. But if you did what would be the point? You just said you're not sorry."
"Nope," Castle said. He smiled when she laughed softly again, and he kissed her lovingly once she had stopped. "It's been a rough day," he said when they were apart again.
"Very, I needed that," Beckett said with a sigh of satisfaction. She gently caressed her husband's chest and said, "It's still early."
"It is," Castle replied since they'd left the Nkosi household before nine because Maddy and Keo needed to be taken home to go to bed. "What's on your mind?"
"I was remembering when we saw Skye nearly crashing," Beckett said slowly.
"You want more?" Castle replied, smiling at her.
"I would," Beckett said. "But from other decades… from the sixties?"
"That's fine, I never really liked going that far since I wasn't sure how long until we moved to this life," Castle said, liking saying that instead of using the phrase 'when we passed.'
"Yeah, now we know," Beckett said.
"I can't talk about the kids," Castle told her.
Nodding her head rapidly Beckett said, "That's fine, we don't know what they were doing anyways. But you won't be able to say their ages."
"I could," Castle said, unable to help laughing as his wife sat up immediately and was reaching for the bed sheet.
"Go ahead," Beckett told him.
Castle couldn't resist sharing a kiss with her and he said, "Okay, so they were twenty-seven, twenty-two, almost twenty-one and nineteen. It was 1949 obviously, and the date is in September…" He had to think of it for a moment before he said quickly, "The twenty-seventh and I think it was Monday… Tuesday?"
"Hold on," Beckett said with a smile, grabbing his phone that had ended up on her nightstand.
"Thanks," Castle said, taking it and checking. "Yeah, that was a Tuesday. You and I were on our own since Josie was in college at Berkley by then. By the way, I think we have our daughters' occupations eventually all wrong."
"I noticed," Beckett replied. "But… could we talk about that later?"
"Yeah, good point," Castle said, unable to forget that they were both naked since he could feel her body pressed against his side. "Anyways, we were on our own and we'd had leftovers for dinner the day before so we needed to get some food at the market. We need to go see where the old place was, they have the address on the market's site."
"I know, it was six years before it moved to the building we've been to," Beckett said with a nod. "Go ahead."
"Alright, I was at the front door, getting my hat while you were coming down the stairs," Castle said, holding her closer as he had an idea of what he would be telling her shortly since he recalled vaguely what they did after they returned to their Mill Valley home.
"You look marvelous love," Rick said, smiling as he saw her blue skirt before she appeared. "Fit for the movies."
"We're only heading to the market love," Kate said though she was smiling herself at his compliment. She put on her hat, looking in the mirror on the wall next to the entry closet before she was about to ask her husband how it looked when he was speaking first as he took her hand with his.
"It's a wonderful hat," Rick told her, knowing she would ask as she had bought it the week before in the city. He smiled and said with a nod, "You look swell in it."
'Thank you," Kate replied. "Let's go," she told him before she was sure they had what they needed.
Outside Rick took his wife's hand and she was quick to loop her arm through his before they made their way down the yard to the gate. He opened it for her and said, "After you love."
Shaking her head, Kate squeezed his arm and asked, "What do you want?"
"Nothing at all," Rick told her seriously. "I'm just letting my lady through first."
Wishing she could kiss him for that, Kate was quick to loop her arm back through his before they started walking down the sidewalk. She pressed close to her husband and said, "I hope you won't mind sandwiches for lunch."
"Oh no," Rick said, though he couldn't answer until they had greeted some people they knew. "Yours are swell, should I help?"
"I'm counting on you to," Kate replied with a smile. She was doing so even wider when her husband squeezed her lightly against him. She turned his attention to their grandchildren they had, speaking together before they had reached the market on Throckmorton. Her husband held the basket available in the store, placing everything she needed in it though she was concerned it was getting too heavy for him by the time she finished.
"Didn't we need sugar Kate?" Rick asked his wife.
Kate hesitated for a moment before she nodded telling him, "I didn't want you to carry more than you could."
"Don't worry," Rick assured her. "It won't be." He followed her to get the bag and though it was heavier he had no problems with it as she went to the register. Once everything was rung up, he paid before his wife could; though it was both their money; and they left after saying goodbye to the owner who had helped them. "Seems like that store is getting smaller and smaller," he said. "And those carts they had in San Jose would be swell now."
"I agree, but if they're going to put them in this store we'll be forever running into others," Kate said. "They should move to a larger building. But who knows if they have the money?"
"Maybe one day," Rick told her. "The war is over and things are picking up. It's no Depression."
"Thank goodness," Kate said with a nod. They walked home and once they were inside, she told her husband, "Let me take off my hat before you carry everything," since he'd taken the bags from her.
"It's no problem my love," Rick called back, walking into the kitchen by then. He was setting down the bags on the counter and starting to put things away.
"I told you love," Kate said, walking into the kitchen hurriedly. She'd taken off her short jacket, so she was in her crisp white blouse and pale blue skirt and she wasn't surprised when her husband ran his hand along her back before she glanced at him.
"Hands to myself?" Rick asked, seeing her look.
"For now," Kate replied, smiling when he paused putting some items in their refrigerator. She turned her attention; though her husband was trying to pull it to him without trying; to the items left to put away before she saw they had finished. "Time for lunch," she told him as she was washing her hands with him. "Now please get the bread for us and put my mayonnaise on it."
"Right away," Rick said, saluting at her. He smiled when she shook her head, though she was still smiling, and he hurried to do as she'd requested. He then washed tomatoes, cut them in slices, before he was doing the same to lettuce and getting leaves for the sandwiches to set down for her. He waited for his wife to get the potato chips they'd made together before they were taking their plates to the dining room.
"What plans did you have for the day love?" Kate asked him after they'd eaten for a bit.
"I don't know," Rick said. "I don't need to write anything for the rest of the week, should we look at the vegetables?"
"We should, the carrots and onions will be ready," Kate told him. She laughed softly when he took her hand and brought it up to his lips. She was about to suggest they head out for dinner when he was commenting about their idea to do something for the day which didn't surprise her that greatly.
"So you wouldn't want to take a nap once we finish?" Rick asked her.
"Fresh," Kate told him sternly though she was smiling at him. "But let's see if something will come up after we harvest the vegetables we need to."
"Of course," Rick replied though he wanted to confess he desired her desperately. After they were finished with their sandwiches and homemade chips, he helped her in cleaning up before they went outside with baskets. "What about the tomatoes?" he asked as they walked across the grass.
Smiling, Kate told him, "We need to look over everything and make sure we don't lose it to cook." She paused, when they'd reached the boxes their vegetable garden were in and said, "I was going to ask if we might go to the diner today."
"For dinner?" Rick asked. When his wife nodded, he said, "Hmm, I believe we could, the girls are all on their own tonight." He nodded and then said, "We should."
"Wonderful," Kate told him before she laughed as he was squeezing her behind. She didn't comment about that since they were checking on their vegetables and picking what they had until they were finishing with carrots.
"Are you going to be canning for the winter?" Rick asked when they were inside the house and had set everything onto the counter to put away.
"Of course, I'll have to start it tomorrow; if you'd like to join me," Kate told him with a smile.
"Don't worry, I don't need to write," Rick reminded her.
"You seem to have cornered yourself into helping," Kate said. "You shouldn't have told me."
"I think you would have still noticed love," Rick said seriously. He laughed when she playfully pushed him and he said, "Where do you want all of this to go?"
Looking at their harvest, Kate finally directed her husband with the tomatoes, onions, tiny potatoes, zucchini, runner beans and different squashes they'd planted. "Alright," she said, seeing all that was left on the counter were the pumpkins. "We're finished."
"When will you make your pies?" Rick asked.
"I'll make one Thursday, canning will make me far too tired," Kate replied wryly as she knew how much her husband loved her pumpkin pies.
"But if I help you with the canning? And making the pie," Rick said before she was laughing at him.
Stepping up to him, Kate cupped his cheek before she told him, "You're a sap Rick." She was smiling when he nodded rapidly, and she kissed him gently on the lips as he leaned down slightly to her. When they parted, she was somber and saw he was as well. Biting at her lower lip for a moment, she whispered his name before he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her against him. They kissed deeply and she couldn't really resist him before they parted slowly. "Rick… let's…" she tried to say before she let go of him and he did the same. She took his hand before they walked out of the kitchen and were hurrying to the stairs. Up in their room, she waited for him to close the door behind him before he was coming to her again, wrapping his arms around her.
"I love you Kate," he told her seriously.
"Hmm, I love you too," she replied, smiling slightly. They were kissing again, and it was just as passionate as before. Her husband's tongue was inside her mouth and she rolled hers with him to taste him before they were separating and hurrying together to the bed. Thinking he wanted them to undress, Kate started to reach for her belt when he was stopping her.
"We won't need to," Rick replied.
"But we'll have to change," Kate pointed out. She saw he was hesitating and she smiled at him, leaning over to brush her lips to his though she needed to go on her tip toes. When she lowered herself, she was pulling her shirt from her skirt and unbuttoning it, her husband undressing on his own before he was naked.
"Love you…" Rick started to say as he turned to look at her; focusing on what he was doing. He saw she was in nothing but her nearly ankle length skirt, and she was tossing aside her stockings. "Are you ready?" he asked her.
With a smile, Kate reached for the blue fabric, pulling it up until she could show her husband she was naked underneath it as well. When he gasped out her name she smiled and let her skirt fall around her legs again before they were getting onto the bed. She needed to wait for her husband to do so first but didn't mind, as it allowed her the chance to pull her skirt up and climb onto him. "Hello love," she said, straddling his legs and wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Sheba," Rick breathed to her lovingly before they were kissing again as their bodies coupled with his help. He was overjoyed with how desirous of him she was; he could feel; and he was more so when she started to move on him. They were bouncing together after a short amount of time, becoming rough without really speaking of it. It didn't matter, as they agreed with how they were going to bring about their peaks while he was suckling at her breasts hungrily to her cries of delight.
"Rick-" Beckett started to say as he had stopped talking about the memory. Though she knew already they'd made love, she couldn't help feeling a little frustrated though she soon realized why exactly he'd done that. With him laying partially on her body she could feel the state he was in and she asked, "Have you been like this the whole time?"
"Why do you ask?" Castle replied.
"Just to make conversation," Beckett replied. She couldn't help smiling as her husband was groaning heavily against her neck and she soon stopped him, making him raise his head. "I do want you," she told him.
"Now or because of back then?" Castle asked.
Beckett raised her head and kissed him deeply before they were dueling with their tongues which they were doing for a while until they were completely breathless. "Both," she answered honestly once she was sure she could talk.
"Goddess," Castle breathed before he kissed her again. He didn't allow that to last for very long, moving and pushing the bed sheet out of the way as he got on top of her. "Would you want to-" he started to say.
"We were like this after," Beckett said simply.
Nodding his head rapidly, Castle moved to enter her with her help and he was soon kissing her sensuously as he slid within her. Once their hips had met, he let that kiss linger for a little longer until he pulled back and started to thrust. He and his wife were both groaning at the same time while he was beginning and once he had settled into his rhythm he wondered if he should be going that fast. It wasn't going to be a quickie, but he was unsure if he should be a little slower. But Beckett's legs wrapped around him and he knew what she wanted with how she was trying to move evenly with him. It spurred him to go a little faster a few thrusts before he was alternating to stimulate her as much as he possibly could.
Beckett was crying out and moaning her husband's name until she broke completely, her sex throbbing from the friction between them. Her eyes were rolling back in her head as her husband was joining her shortly after and she was suddenly pushed to a second orgasm feeling the way he was filling her sex with both himself and his release. She was breathing hard for a second time that night and she said when she was a little more recovered, "I know we were only like this at the very end… but it's what I wanted right now."
Smiling into her neck Castle told her, "I ended up taking off that skirt."
"Of course, it got in the way," Beckett said simply. She smiled when her husband laughed slightly before he carefully withdrew from her and she told him, "We were only together a few times; not at all that night."
"We were both older," Castle said with a nod. "And I don't care," he replied. "Do you want me to continue?"
"That would be nice," Beckett responded.
"Okay," Castle said, nodding his head so rapidly he wasn't surprised to see her laughing. He kissed her lightly on the lips and then reached down to her right breast, lightly fondling it before she stopped him. "Sorry, I should skip to later when we went out," he told her.
"I know, and it's alright, I remember how we made love the other two times," Beckett replied. "Start when we left."
Nodding his head quickly Castle then said, "We walked to the diner, since it was still light for long enough to make it back after that. We enjoyed it since of course we pressed very close together… about all we could do that decade."
Walking quickly Kate said to her husband, "It's getting a bit chillier."
"I noticed, it's nearly fall," Rick said. "Think the children will want to dress up as always?"
"Of course, they've already begun speaking of costumes," Kate replied with a smile. She then looked over at her husband and said, "Should we hold a dinner party?"
"What day of the week is Halloween?" Rick asked.
"I think Monday, but the girls will bring their children here," Kate replied. "And Josephine will be here for that as well."
"Then we'll have to plan it," Rick said. They had reached the shops and he said, "But we'll need to wait for tomorrow."
"We will," Kate said in agreement before he was going to the door and opening it for her. When they were at a table, they were looking at the menu together since they were sitting next to one another. "I believe I'll have the half chicken," she eventually said.
"The minute sirloin," Rick said. After they'd ordered he said to her in Irish, "Should we call them tomorrow?"
"The girls?" Kate asked. When he nodded, she smiled and said, "It will need to be later, but we do need to begin now before it gets closer to Halloween."
"And we must have games," Rick told her.
"Oh, of course we must," Kate said, smiling at his tone of voice. She wasn't surprised he wanted to think of what those games could be until they were discussing their options before their dishes were served. She was going to ask him if he wanted to try her chicken when he was speaking first as he was cutting his smaller cut steak.
"I'll share some of mine with you Kate," Rick was saying.
"Alright," she replied with a smile. "Hopefully it's swell," Kate said in amusement as he was testing the steak for her.
"As always," Rick said when he'd finished eating. Once he had he cut a piece for his wife she was giving him some of her chicken. They would do that occasionally and he tried a bite before nodding and telling her, "Swell as always."
Kate laughed softly before they settled to eating, talking quietly about their grandchildren and what they would serve at their party. When they finished, she watched her husband paying for the meal and she stood as he left a dollar fifty on the table. "You were quite extravagant," she commented once they'd left the building.
"I did, Francisco always takes care of us," Rick replied. "Now, what will we do once we're home?"
"Did you want to watch the TV?" Kate said, asking him a question of her own.
Shaking his head, Rick told her, "I'd rather listen to music. What about you?"
"That sounds swell," Kate told him with a smile before she squeezed his hand with her other. They were walking as quickly as they could to their home, discarding their hats and outer layers before she watched her husband going to their Victrola. "I thought we would listen to the radio," she commented teasingly to him.
"Oh, perhaps," Rick said absently as he was looking through the records they had.
"Rick," Kate told him in amusement.
Hearing that in her tone, Rick looked up at his wife before he realized how he'd responded to her. "I'm sorry love, I meant to say I'd thought we would just listen to our records," he told her.
Nodding her head, Kate said, "That sounds swell. Let me make us some coffee."
"Thank you love," Rick called after her as she was leaving. Pulling out some Bing Crosby albums, he set one on the turn table and then went to the kitchen.
"I don't need any help Rick," Kate called to him as she was walking across the kitchen and spotted him.
"I know, I was feeling awfully lonely," he replied. Rick smiled when his wife was giving him a brief look and he told her, "Though I do want to be in your company."
"That's nice of you to say," Kate said. After she was getting the coffee off the stove, she poured it into two mugs before looking at her husband while he was speaking.
"It's true, you're a Sheba," Rick replied, shrugging his shoulders.
Picking up the tray, Kate walked up to him before they were kissing tenderly and she then said, "Come on, I find I feel the same."
Smiling, Rick hurried into the dining room after her, taking the tray before they went the rest of the way to the living room to sit and drink together once the music was playing next to them.
"There isn't really much after that," Castle said as he stopped there. "Just listening to music, talking-"
"Kissing," Beckett commented. She smiled when her husband nodded rapidly and she leaned over, kissing him lightly on the lips. "Could you do me a favor?" she asked him.
"Sure," Castle replied, wondering what she wanted him to do exactly.
"Skip to the sixties?" Beckett asked him. "I know you wanted to talk about the fifties, I did too, but I think it'll be better if we talk about that another time."
Castle was going to protest, but he recalled the case suddenly and said, "Right, then let me think about that for a little."
Speaking quickly, before her husband could decide on a date, Beckett said, "It won't be too hard?"
"No," Castle said. "I think I have something. In 1962, in April."
"Do you have a date?" Beckett asked him with a smile as he stopped there.
"I think the… no, the seventeenth," Castle told her. He was surprised when she suddenly moved and he watched her, smiling as he realized she was going for his phone. He told her thank you quickly before he took it and looked at the date. "A Tuesday again," he said, shaking his head.
"Coincidence," Beckett replied as she set her phone back. "Are we having sex in this one?"
"No," Castle replied. He paused and then told her, "We did still at that age, but it wasn't happening where I'm remembering."
"That's okay, I'm just wondering," Beckett replied. "What were we doing then?"
"I was still writing then… I kept writing for a long time," Castle started. "And I was doing that when you came up the stairs to our bedroom where I was still writing."
"Rick, you old man you can't hear me at all," Kate said as she came up the final step.
"I'm sorry love," he told her as he looked up from his typewriter. "I was just getting to the end of this chapter."
"It's alright, I was only teasing," Kate told him reassuringly as he was standing. "I only came to tell you that lunch is ready."
"Right," Rick said, covering his typewriter with a towel. "I'm ready now."
"Did you finish?" Kate asked.
"I did," Rick assured her. "I'm free to do whatever you wish now love."
Kate smiled as her husband took her hand, kissing the back of it before she said, "Good, we can plant in the garden." She laughed softly when her husband groaned and waited until they were at the bottom of the stairs saying, "You sap, you know I wanted to."
"I did, but I could hope you wanted to do something else," Rick said, raising and lowering his eyebrows.
"Fresh," Kate told him. She laughed when he gathered her in his arms and started to kiss at her neck until she made him stop. "Lunch will get cold love, let's go eat."
"I would like a kiss," Rick told her, following her down the stairs to the main floor. When they had reached it, he was about to ask her for one when his wife turned to him abruptly and cupped his face with her hands before she teased him lovingly.
"If you'd like a kiss then promise you'll help me in the garden," Kate told him.
"You didn't even have to ask," Rick said enthusiastically.
"You're such a sap love," Kate said, speaking adoringly. She let her husband wrap his arms around her before they were kissing, and she was pleased when he kept it gentle. They walked together to the dining room which she had already set, and she told him, "For a day like today…"
"Of course," Rick said as he could see the rain still pounding against the dining room window. He sat with her and they had their tomato soup and grilled cheese and he said in wonder, "You're the bee's knees at cooking Kate."
Smiling she said, "Thank my ma."
Shaking his head Rick said, "You have a natural talent."
"Thank you love," Kate said.
Looking at the window Rick asked, "How are we going to plant?" When she smiled at him, he said, "Ah, no worries about the cold?"
"We'll have a hot bath once we finish," Kate said. When her husband was nodding his head rapidly, she smiled and told him, "Fresh, and a sap."
"I'm glad to be," Rick said simply. When his wife laughed and shook her head, he turned his attention back to his food and finished his soup and sandwich before they were cleaning the dishes. Once they were finished, they went into the lean-to and stood at the door to see the rain had eased up.
"We'll still have a bath," Kate told her husband.
"Of course," Rick said, nodding his head. He took her hand and they stepped outside, going down the steps before they went to the boxes just as the sun was coming out. "We won't be having a bath now?" he said, making sure to stress his disappointment.
"We'll see, if you're a good boy we will," Kate teased him.
"Then I'll be a good soldier and do my duties," Rick said, standing at attention. "What are they Sergeant?"
"Stop that," Kate said, shaking her head as he was saluting. She playfully slapped his hand down and told him, "You'll turn the soil and then plant, you know what to do after that already."
"Yes ma'am," Rick said sharply, standing at attention then and saluting one last time before he was turning his attention to the first box so he could start on the peas that belonged there.
"We took a bath," Beckett told her husband as he ended the memory there. "I'm really surprised we didn't make love." Something came to her and she asked him, "Is it because we were older?"
"It may have been, we didn't stop completely but-" Castle started to say.
"We still were intimate," Beckett interrupted him. "Don't worry Rick," she told him firmly as he was about to speak again. "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it."
"Okay," Castle said. He was about to speak before there was a clap of thunder outside and they looked together at the window he'd only drawn the gauzy curtains over when they'd left that evening. "Want to watch the storm?" he asked his wife as she was raising her head.
Smiling at him, Beckett got up and got off the bed and tugged the bedsheet until it was out from in between the mattresses before she was walking to the couch. She tossed the sheet over it before getting on her knees on it, pulling the curtains so they would raise up just as there was a streak of lightning across the sky in the distance.
"Oh, nice," Castle said, walking up behind her.
"Already?" Beckett asked in amusement as he was grasping her ass lightly.
"Why not?" Castle responded before he laughed as she rolled her eyes.
Beckett pulled him to her, and they kissed tenderly before they were looking out the window as the rain was pelting it. She thought of something and said, "What about the battle run tomorrow?"
"I know," Castle said, since they'd briefly talked about the case with the others before getting in their cab with the McDouglas women. "Hopefully they'll still hold it even if it is raining."
"I didn't think to ask Patrick, he'd know," Beckett replied before she was looking back out the window.
"You could text him now," Castle said.
Turning to him from their view as he was speaking slowly Beckett asked, "Do you really want me to?"
"Why would I care?" Castle replied with a shrug. "He's with Trevor."
"Why so slow?" Beckett then asked.
"I just remembered he might be resting," Castle said, reaching up to her and gently running his fingers through her hair a few times. "And I also don't want to think about him right now."
Beckett was about to respond to that when there was another flash of lightning and they looked out in time to hear the thunder. "Luckily it's not that close," she said, having counted between the two.
"What'd you get?" Castle asked her.
Raising her eyebrow at him; as her husband was running his hand down her back Beckett said, "Ten miles."
"Oh… I counted too fast, I got seven," Castle replied. "Wait for the next one?"
"Okay," Beckett said in amusement as she could tell by his touch that he was struggling not to reach for her ass. They were looking outside then as he moved his hand and they waited until they saw the lightning. She counted until the sound and said, "Yeah, it's moving away, I got twelve." She turned to her husband and asked, "Let me guess, ten?"
"I didn't bother," Castle replied.
Beckett laughed softly and shook her head before she said, "I was such a wimp back then."
"Wh- oh, I remember now," Castle said, realizing quickly what she meant. "Not so much a wimp we had a lightning storm not that long after the earthquake."
"Yeah, I guess that was enough to scare me," Beckett said. She couldn't help smiling as she said, "And yet Skye loved to fly still."
"I think that was always there, the Wright brothers flew when we were four and three, so she was aware of them," Castle reminded her.
Quickly nodding, Beckett leaned up to pull the gauzy curtain down, but she paused before saying, "I'd like to leave this open."
"Does it look like anyone's on the boats outside?" Castle asked, though he was looking out the window himself.
"If they are it's a death wish, even if the lightning is moving away," Beckett replied. She paused and then said, "Homeless shelter?"
Shaking his head Castle said, "There's an APB out on them both, I heard Darnley mention shelters too."
"No more about the case?" Beckett asked him with a smile.
"No," Castle said simply. He reached for his wife and made her lay down on the couch, to her gasp of surprise before he was laying on top of her, kissing her as soon as he was to increase their intimacy while she responded eagerly.
His eyes opening, Castle looked to his right but saw the bed was empty and he groaned before he got up. He glanced to the bathroom before grabbing his robe on his nightstand, pulling it on. When he walked into the living room, he wasn't surprised to find his wife at the window looking in the same direction of the marina before he said, "Please tell me you didn't have a nightmare."
Shaking her head, Beckett turned to him and said, "No, I just woke up."
"Julia?" Castle then said in concern as he suddenly recalled their second oldest.
"No, she's fine," Beckett said. "I haven't gotten anything, and I don't feel like anything's wrong."
"What's unsettling you then?" Castle asked, taking her in his arms as she'd walked over to him.
"The lightning, there was more of it… the lightning and thunder," Beckett said. "Don't ask me why though, it never has."
"I know why," Castle replied. "Though we should go back to bed."
"No, I remember now," Beckett told him with a nod. When they had reached the bed, she discarded his shirt that she'd pulled on after she'd gotten up and then said, "There was thunder and lightning after we'd taken our bath… all through dinner. How did we not lose the electricity?"
"Beats me," Castle said. He paused in taking off his robe when he saw the look his wife was giving him and said, "It helped, after dinner was nice."
"Watching TV?" Beckett asked as he was climbing into the bed next to her once his robe was back on his nightstand. "No, wait," she said, stopping him before he could continue. "We did watch some good shows."
"And we were expecting another grandchild by then," Castle commented.
Breathing out, as it had hit her suddenly, Beckett said, "Could they still be alive?"
"I don't know, I don't want to consider it… surprisingly," Castle commented after thinking about that for a moment.
"I'm not shocked," Beckett said. "But you're right."
"Tell me," Castle told her, wrapping his arm around her to hold her against his side once he'd covered them both with the bedsheet.
Though she wanted to say he could relate the memory better, Beckett hesitated since she had quickly understood why he'd told her that. She finally nodded and said, "We watched our local news and then Douglas Edwards." She smiled and then said, "I remember the TV, a tiny screen but we were happy with it as it was in color… and bigger than our last set we'd bought in 1956."
"Yeah, I'm remembering it too," Castle told her. "I'd made popcorn in the stove; I want to do that when we go by the way."
Beckett smiled and said, "You can. I'd made coffee for the night and I was knitting for our future grandchild; whoever they were," urging him to start instead which he soon did.
"What should we watch after this Kate?" Rick was asking his wife as he was picking up their copy of TV Guide with the actors of Route 66 on it for that week.
"You can watch Laramie," Kate replied, smiling at him as she had finished a row of the socks she was making.
"Are you sure?" Rick said uncertainly though he did love the show.
"There aren't very many choices are there? Either The Bugs Bunny Show or Marshal Dillion," Kate told him. "Switch it to NBC."
"Of course," Rick said. He kissed her cheek and as he stood to change the channel told her, "You're a swell Sheba love."
"So many compliments," Kate told him teasingly, beginning her next row.
Sitting next to her as The Huntley-Brinkley Report was finishing, Rick picked up the bowl of popcorn he'd made and started to eat it as Laramie began. After a while he realized he was the only one eating it and he paused. "What about you?" he asked his wife as the sponsors of the show were showing a commercial.
"Let me finish and I'll join you," Kate replied, doing so to her third row she'd managed to knit that night. She set it inside her basket under the table next to the couch, and said, "I should pour the coffee too, it's bound to get cold if it's sitting here much longer." She poured quickly, as the show was coming back on and she and her husband prepared it to their liking before she was sipping at her cup. When she had put it on the saucer it went with, she took the bowl he handed her and she fed him a kernel.
"Love," Rick said with a laugh after he'd eaten the one his wife had literally popped into his mouth. "You didn't have to."
"No, but I know you've been enjoying it," Kate replied, though she was eating some of it herself. They continued watching until halfway through the show when her husband changed it to CBS so they could watch the gameshow Password. When they had finished, she smiled as he went back to NBC for Alfred Hitchcock Presents and they listened to the director talking about that week's episode. "Oh, Rick, change it, please," she said in horror as it appeared to be about a dog being buried alive.
"Of course love," Rick said, going to the TV in a rush. "Here," he said to her as he went to CBS. "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis," he told her as he saw it was the sitcom they enjoyed once in a while.
"Much better," Kate said with a nod, smiling. Just as her husband was sitting next to her and she was relaxing, there was a clap of thunder shortly after the flash of lightning and she was nearly upsetting the popcorn before her husband wrapped his arms around her and he spoke to her soothingly.
"It's alright love, just a little storm," Rick told her, trying to calm her down.
"Little? It hasn't stopped all afternoon," Kate said though she knew she was being ridiculous. When she had stopped trembling, she was about to let her husband go when there was more lightning and thunder, and she couldn't help the whimper that escaped her lips.
Rick held on tighter to his wife as he could hear her, and he was rubbing her back gently before he felt he could let her go. "Will you be swell?" he asked as they could hear thunder rumbling and she was gripping his hand tighter.
"I think so," Kate replied with a sigh. She let go of her husband's hand and looked over at the TV saying, "We've missed most of the show."
"It's alright," Rick said.
Glancing at him, as he did like the show, Kate smiled and said, "Drink your coffee, it's going to be frozen."
"It's not that cold," Rick scoffed jokingly before he smiled at her. He reached for his cup and they were drinking together before he told her, "It's still swell love." He watched as her she merely nodded and wasn't surprised when she flinched as there was still thunder and lightning. When he finished his cup of tea, he moved down the couch and sat next to her, wrapping his arm around her waist and holding her close until the sitcom finished. "Want to watch Red Skelton?" he asked.
"I could do with a good laugh," Kate replied as they enjoyed the variety show. She leaned against her husband, smiling and laughing as the comedian was very funny and the scenes were as well. Though the storm was still going, she felt much better by the time Ichabod and Me started after and she relaxed until that sitcom was over. "Let's go to bed Rick," she told her husband. "I want to make some pies for dinner Friday night for everyone."
"Of course," Rick replied, standing up to turn off the TV. He went to the couch and waited for her to stand before taking her hand and kissing the back of it. He was surprised, when he straightened up and was leaning down as his wife was pulling him to her.
"I want us to wear nothing to bed," Kate told him.
Swallowing a little hard, Rick took a moment to reply before he said, "Whatever you would like."
With a smile, Kate took his hand and they walked up to their bed before they undressed and laid down together. Once they were covered, and had told each other I love you, she pressed close against him and they were laying there, listening to the continuing thunder and finding it wasn't exactly that bad to weather the storm together.
"You would help me," Beckett said. "You always did but when we were kids-"
"Your siblings would too," Castle said, nodding his head. "Feeling any better?" he asked after they were listening to the distant thunder for a while.
"Could you turn on the lights?" Beckett asked.
"Sure," Castle said, trying not to let his disappointment that he couldn't comfort her enough show. He went to both lamps on the nightstand before his wife was grasping his erection. "Kate," he breathed out roughly as she very gently constricted her fingers.
"Pleasure me?" Beckett asked.
"Okay," Castle said in a rush.
"But-" Beckett started to say when her husband was cutting her off by kissing her. He did so roughly before he was moving away, and she watched him going down to her breasts. She sucked in a heavy breath of air when her husband proceeded to fondle both mounds before he was thumbing her nipples lightly. She bit her lower lip when he bowed his head and she whispered his name before he took the right nub into his mouth. He suckled at it for a while before she slid her fingers through his hair, and she thought he was going to spend a while there when he moved to her left. She was moaning softly while her husband was continuing to stimulate her, using his hand on the one his mouth wasn't. When he pulled away, she sighed and told him, "I am ready."
"How?" Castle asked in surprise.
Beckett was smiling and she said, "Do I need a reason?"
"Vixen, you were rubbing up against me," Castle breathed to her. When she merely smirked at him, he groaned and kissed her passionately as he couldn't help himself. He plunged his tongue into her mouth while he was crushing his lips to hers and they were soon tangling together for a while before they needed to breathe. "I'm going to fucking worship you," he told her huskily.
"Please," Beckett breathed to him, his tone of voice arousing her greatly. She waited in anticipation as her husband was kissing from the hollow of her throat, between her breasts and over her stomach. She looked on when he reached her mound and was breathing a little harder as he kissed her skin gently there. She had already parted her legs so when Castle was moving to kiss the inside of her thighs, she was crying out softly before he was moving up as he slid his right hand over her thigh.
"Do you want me love?" Castle asked her, looking up at her.
"Yes," Beckett moaned as his breath was hitting her sex.
"What do you want me to do?" Castle said then.
Raising her head and looking down at him, Beckett hesitated for a moment before she told him, "I want your tongue on my pussy Rick."
"How?" Castle breathed as he couldn't help being affected by how forcefully she was speaking.
"Any way you want it, I know you'll make me come," Beckett replied. She was pleased when he nodded and then bowed his head before she was throwing hers back with a cry as she could feel his tongue at her clit. She started to turn the lower half of her body in response, but her husband was taking her legs, throwing them over his shoulders. With that she held onto the bedsheet underneath her to try and withstand what his tongue was doing to her as he soon began sucking at her clit. She was about to ask him to use his fingers as well when he was suddenly pulling back from her. She was about to ask him what he was doing, but he was holding up his hand to stop her before he told her why he'd done that.
"How quickly do you want this to go?" Castle asked her. "I don't want to be punished."
"You assume I would," Beckett said with a smile. "And quickly would be fine."
"Okay," Castle said swiftly, smiling for a moment before he bowed his head and returned to what he'd been doing before. He pleasured her with both his mouth and his fingers that time, not stopping and not slowing down. He switched with them both between her entrance and her clit until she was breaking above him, her cries of pleasure heavy and the way she called his name making his erection throb in response. He stayed where he was for a while, lapping at her folds until he pulled away carefully and pressed a kiss to them. "You taste incredible love," he murmured to her once he was lying next to her.
"I'm glad you enjoyed that too," Beckett said. She was about to speak when her husband squeezed her arm and she looked at him questioningly.
"So that means you did?" Castle asked her.
"It does," Beckett said with a smile before they were kissing each other tenderly. When he pulled away from her, she was asking, "Does that mean you'll let me do the same for you?"
"It does," Castle echoed her.
"Pervert," Beckett told him with a smile.
"Wait, I'm agreeing to it and now I'm a pervert?" Castle said in mock protest.
Smirking, Beckett turned to brush her lips against his before she told him, "You are." She knew he was going to try and turn her onto her back, so she stopped him and moved to get on top of him. She was a bit taken aback when he was watching her calmly and she smiled before kissing him. She did that for a while, their tongues just barely meeting, before she moved away and went to his chest. She heard her husband's groan as she was peppering his skin with kisses before she flicked her tongue at his nipples.
"Fuck," Castle swore at the sensation that caused and he was reaching up to her, caressing her hair before he tried to get her to stop. He couldn't, as she gave him a look, and he was reaching for the sheet underneath him as she was starting to move. He breathed out heavily while she was descending on him and he told her, "I might not last for that long."
Smiling up at him, Beckett said, "Don't worry, I expected it."
Breathing a little harder as she had wrapped her hand around his length, it took Castle a moment to speak before he said, "As long as you're okay with that."
Still smiling, Beckett told him, "I am," before she was moving to lay in between his legs. She took his erection into her mouth and started to bob up and down on him quickly as she wanted to begin. She did that for a while before she was gently lapping at the tip of him and then lowering her mouth around him. When she stopped again, she couldn't help smiling as her husband was groaning weakly in frustration and told him, "Did you want me to just get you straight to coming?"
"I think I did before and…" Castle started to say before he trailed off as she was starting on him. He half expected her to stop again, but he was pleasantly surprised and relieved when she wasn't, and she brought him fully to orgasm. He was nearly yelling while he was doing so, the pleasure intense in his body for having to wait to get to that point. He wasn't sure if he ended up moving against his wife, and he reminded himself to ask her before the thought was lost and he was soon collapsing onto the bed as he felt he was weak in his satisfaction.
Beckett, as her husband had done to her, lingered on him until she pulled away and pressed a kiss to the tip of his length which she could feel was still rigid in her hand. "Thank you for being fair," she told him teasingly as she moved to lay against his side.
Wrapping his arms around her Castle said, "Not a problem… I mean that literally, it wasn't."
"Pervert," Beckett said teasingly though she was soon kissing him as he turned onto his side to face her. As they were doing that for a while, she had no chance to tell him what she wanted to do next before she finally moved away from him and rolled onto her back. "Come here lover," she breathed to him as Castle was watching her with wide eyes. She tried pulling him to her before he was moving on his own and she watched him getting on top of her before they kissed again. When they had to breathe after several, she whispered into his ear, "Fuck me again love."
"I want to," Castle said. "I'm still worshiping you." When his wife nodded rapidly, he leaned down and took her lips, kissing her yet again but doing that gently before he pulled away. He started to move at that point, thrusting a little slowly at first before he sped up, spurred on by his wife's moans and the way her body was trying to thrust with him and writhing as well already.
Beckett was wrapping her arms and legs around him tightly though it didn't really help her to move with him. She had her fingertips digging into his back, feeling his muscles as they moved to literally drive into her and she was crying out in joy since it didn't seem to stop hitting her how pleasurable it was. When she finally broke, she was unsure if she was screaming or not in her ecstasy, only aware her body felt as if it was literally on fire. When he joined her that feeling intensified before she was raking her nails down his back until she was stopping in complete exhaustion before her husband was continuing for a little longer. As he became still, she took in everything she was feeling at that moment and smiled as she said, "Okay?"
"Yeah… exhausted but…" Castle said before he trailed off as he wasn't sure how he could finish that. He recovered his strength eventually and moved though he didn't want to, withdrawing from her carefully to her sigh of disappointment. Before he laid down, he grabbed the bedsheet and pulled it over them both before he lay on his back, pulling his wife against his side.
"I hate to say this," Beckett told him. "We need to sleep."
"What time is it?" Castle asked as he moved to turn off the lights on the nightstands. He was surprised when his wife stopped him, and he watched her going to the lamps. He then said, "Either way you're right. To be honest I forgot about the case."
"I did too," Beckett replied. She smiled at him and said, "We needed the break."
Nodding, Castle kissed his wife's forehead and asked, "You'll be okay?"
"I will," Beckett replied with a nod. "I love you Rick."
"I love you too Kate," Castle said, rubbing her upper arm. he leaned down to her to kiss her, doing so gently before they slowly parted and he said, "Night love."
"Night," Beckett replied, smiling at him. They kissed one more time before they settled down to sleep. She took a little longer that time to fall asleep, trying not to think of how she'd been so unsettled with the storm. Instead she was recalling a memory of when she and her husband had been married for a month and a few days in the middle of January in 1927. She smiled briefly thinking of that but focused on what she and her husband had been doing when they'd arrived home after taking Julia to school.
"Do you really need to make lunch now?" Rick asked, as they were in the kitchen.
"I must, unless you'd like to starve," Kate said, tying her apron around her waist.
"No, but you won't go to too much effort, will you?" Rick asked as he watched while she washed her hands.
"Oh no," Kate replied, smiling over her shoulder at him before she suddenly froze as her husband pressed up against her back. "Rick-" she started to say before he was making her turn around. She took his kiss gladly after she'd wrapped her arms around him tightly before they were parting and she whispered, "Of course… I can always make sandwiches."
"Or I could," Rick said.
"You-" Kate started to say before she cut herself off as her husband was picking her up after untying and pulling off her apron. "Oh! Rick you won't be able to take me up the stairs!" she told him in protest as he was walking to the living room.
"I suppose I wouldn't," Rick replied. He set her down at the bottom of the staircase before he was taking her hand and pulling her up to their bedroom. Once inside he wasted no time in getting her clothes off before they were working together on his. Naked, they laid back on the bed and were kissing deeply before he let her take his length in hand so he could enter her. He made love to her gently at first before she was begging him for more. He thrust a little furiously then, relieved he was pleasing her as he wasn't used to doing so that much with her yet.
Kate was crying out in absolute joy at what her husband was making her feel, and she was completely weak once she had calmed down. She was smiling then, her body throbbing in remnants of pleasure and she kissed her husband when he raised his head to do so. "That was swell Rick," she told him.
"It was," he told her. "We're getting better and better," Rick then said with a smile as he moved to put her on top of him, straddling his legs.
"Sap," Kate told him in amusement. She kissed him before she began pushing herself up and down though she was a little awkward being so new in it. She soon found her rhythm and was going faster and faster before she gasped as he slipped out of her. "Oh… I'm sorry love," she told him.
"It's swell, nothing's wrong," Rick told her quickly as he was helping her in getting his member back inside her. Once it was, he held her by her hips as she was moving again, groaning and trying to match her before she begged him to take over. Though he wanted her to have a chance, he was doing as she asked and watching her pleasure when they both broke.
Breathing heavily, Kate wasn't surprised when she and her husband were slipping into another bout of their intimacy. They were rough though they took a little longer and when they had finished, she looked at her husband's alarm clock. "Oh no," she said when she saw it was nearly twelve.
"What's wrong?" Rick asked, surprised at her tone.
"It's time for lunch," Kate said. "And I haven't gotten anything for us."
"I'll get it," Rick told her, not surprised when she said, "You?" He smiled and told her, "I will, you rest."
Kate smiled when her husband kissed her gently before she watched him get up and get dressed again before he was leaving. When she was alone, she lay on her back, looking up at the ceiling before she laid her hand on her stomach. She was unsure of the thought of a baby when she and Rick had just gotten married but decided she needed to focus on making them a family before they added to it. She heard her husband calling to her and with a smile got up so she could dress, and they could walk down to the dining room arm in arm, pressed close to continue their intimacy that lingered for them both.
