Mikoto makes her way towards Itachi's room with a bowl of tomatoes in her hand. She is determined to talk more to Itachi. She might not be a genius but she can observe and she knows that her boys are sad. She still doesn't know what happened between them but she does know that they need to solve it themselves. Still, a little push cannot hurt.
She knocks on his door and waits for his ''Come in.'' Then she walks into his room and closes the door behind her.
''What brings you here mother?'' Itachi asks her as he looks up from the scroll he is reading.
''I was wondering what is going on between you and Sasuke. I can see something happened Itachi. I see that Sasuke is avoiding you.''
Itachi puts his scroll away. ''I don't know why.''
''Did you talk about it with him?'' She asks.
''No.''
''Why not?''
''Because he doesn't want to talk with me.'' Itachi answers.
''How do you know?'' She gives Itachi a small smile.
Itachi frowns. ''He avoids me. Why would he want to talk to me?''
''Maybe he wants you to come to him?'' She takes the chair next to his desk so that she can sit in front of him. He is sitting on his bed. '' He always asks for you to train him, trying to get your attention but you never train him. He might think you are ignoring his requests. If asking you didn't work he might think that ignoring you will. He might think you will realise your mistake of ignoring his requests and spend time with him.''
''How do you know?'' Itachi moves his head slightly to the left.
''I don't know. I think. I assume. You can only know for sure if you talk with Sasuke.'' She smiles. ''If you don't try it you will never know. Nothing will change if both of you keep behaving like this.''
She walks from the chair towards his bed and sits next to him.
''No matter what you think Itachi I care about you both. I love you both dearly. I don't want to see the both of you sad. I can tell that you both are sad about how things are now.''
Itachi turns his head to look into his mother's eyes.
''I know you have a lot on your mind right now. Your father and I have put a lot of pressure on your shoulders. But I do not wish for you to be sad Itachi. I want you to be happy, because I love you.'' She then slowly moves forwards and kisses Itachi's forehead. Itachi's eyes widen in surprise and after she is back on her former spot on his bed he moves his hand to touch his forehead. He looks at her with a puzzled expression. She stands up and hands him the bowl of tomatoes. He looks at it confused.
''A little bribe might help.'' She winks. '' I might not be able to help you with all your troubles Itachi, But I am willing to listen if you are willing to tell.''
Itachi looks at the bowl with a contemplative expression.
Before she closes the door behind her as she steps out of the room she hears Itachi say:
''Thank you mother.''
She smiles.

I hope you like this chapter. Next chapter Itachi will go to Sasuke. It will be a hard chapter to write.
How is everyone doing by the way? My country is almost in another lockdown. But I didn't go out that much anyways.
