Chapter 15
Just us
Donna stepped back to let him get inside the room.
"So…," Harvey broke the ice once they both were sitting on her bed.
"What are we?" she suddenly asked, looking straight into his eyes.
"What do you want us to be?" he answered with another question. She smiled nervously, not being sure of what to say. It's not that she wasn't sure of the answer, it's just she didn't know how to approach the subject. "I want to be with you," he continued.
"I want to be with you too." She started to caress his thigh.
"So… Do you want to be my girlfriend?" He said encompassing her hands with his. They both knew it was kind of a cliché and silly, but they didn't mind it as long as it was the two of them.
"I don't know… let me think about it," she joked. He rolled his eyes as he pulled her towards him.
"I missed you." She kissed him. Their tongues joined the fun as their hands roamed each other's body.
"I have an idea," he said, separating from her a bit and she eyed him curiously.
"Now I'm scared…," she laughed.
"Why don't we go somewhere this weekend? Just us," Harvey proposed.
"I… that's…" She didn't know what to say. He caught her off guard.
"Come on, keep stumbling." He smiled.
"It's not that I don't want to… but what should I tell Rachel?"
"Oh, come on! She already knows I'm here… she probably figured us out already."
"You're right," she sighed. She didn't know what she was so worried about.
"So…?"
"Yes, Harvey! I can't wait." She threw herself to his arms, and they both fell on the bed. She was on top of him and his arms were caressing her hair. He leaned up to kiss her.
"You are beautiful," he said between kisses.
"You know, you are not so bad yourself." And she started to kiss him again. Their tongues were mingling as they were getting lost in each other's arms.
"Hey do you want to watch—," Rachel asked while walking into Donna's bedroom.
"It seems like nobody taught you how to knock!" Donna replied, sitting up.
"My eyes," Rachel cried out, covering them up as a joke. Donna gave her that look. "Come on! It's not like I never caught you with someone before," Rachel replied.
Donna coughed to make her shut up as Harvey's eyes were fixated on the sheets. That comment made him really uncomfortable.
Rachel realized what she just did and tried to fix it. "But it was years ago, and it wasn't here. She didn't bring anyone here but you." She paused. "Actually Stephen was here, but—" she stopped talking again when she saw Donna's face. "I'm gonna go… If you want to watch a movie with us, just let us know." With that, she left the room, leaving it filled with silence.
"Hey… I'm sorry. She didn't mean to—"
"It's fine… we both have a past. It's quite normal."
"I know, but anyway… sorry," Donna caressed his cheek, and he leaned in to kiss her. His hands were on her waist again and hers were messing with his hair. Their lips biting and sucking each other. They would never get tired of that; of feeling their bodies together, feeling the other one near.
Just as the situation was getting more heated, his phone rang. He moved his arm to grab it and looked at Donna with sad eyes.
"I'm sorry, I have to take this one… It's the college."
"It's fine," she said, straddling him.
"Donna, I really have to take this." She kept kissing his neck. "Donna…"
"Take it, Harvey… I don't mind." She was leaving wet kisses on his jaw. He knew he wouldn't be able to concentrate, but the call could ring out at any second and he didn't have the time to think or argue with Donna.
"Hello," he finally took the call while Donna was moving her hips on top of him to create friction. Harvey looked at her and contained the moan. "Yes." Her arms were all over his chest. "I'll be there in ten minutes." Donna's movement stopped. "Bye," he sighed as he put his phone away. "I'm sorry… I have to go," he now addressed his girlfriend. She only pouted as a reply. "But we will have the time to do this and more this weekend."
"No emergency phone calls, no college. Just us," Donna clarified.
"Just us, I promise."
"Okay then… let me accompany you to the door." She led him out with their hands entwined.
Rachel and Mike just looked at them… it's not like they could have said something.
"Bye," Harvey said and leaned down to kiss Donna before she opened the door. It was a quick kiss. They just wanted to say goodbye, not give her friends a show.
"Bye." And then she forced herself to open the door. At least they could spend all weekend together.
Once she closed the door, she decided she wanted to watch the movie with her friends after all.
"Don't even think about saying something." She got ahead of Rachel's comments.
"Okay… at some point you will have to talk about it…"Rachel was right… whatever happens on the weekend with Harvey, she will want to talk about it. Just not now… it doesn't feel right for her. She's still afraid someone will catch them. Their futures were on the line now, and they both knew it.
"I will… someday…," she said, smiling at her friend. "And you… you know you can't say anything, right?"
"I'm a tomb." Mike sealed his lips.
"Thanks… what are we watching?"
"Top Gun," Rachel and Donna's mind went right to the moment she was "watching" it with him... Except that this time, she will pay attention to the movie.
…
It was Friday. Donna was nervous because that afternoon, they will meet to spend the weekend together. She didn't even know where they would go, and honestly she didn't even care. She just wanted to be with him.
The day at college passed quickly, and once she was home again, she decided to finally tell Rachel.
"Can we talk?" Donna asked, looking at her hands, and then at the floor.
"Is everything okay?" Rachel noticed how nervous her friend was.
"Yes… I just… I…," she stumbled. "I will spend this weekend with Harvey."
"OMG! Donna, that's huge!" Her friend yelled excited.
"I know… we are trying… we are together. I didn't tell you before because—"
"Donna, it's fine! If I'm being honest, I already knew…," Rachel confessed.
"What? How?" Donna threw her hands in the air.
"Your secret calls, the way you look at him in class, the fact that whenever you get a message, you act like if I was your mum.
"God, I didn't realize that… Do you think Marcus knows too? I didn't tell him either." Donna's eyes were wide open.
"I don't know if he knows, but you should tell him. He's your best friend."
"I will when I get back…"
"So what are you going to pack?" Rachel said, with a playful look.
"I haven't decided yet… do you want to help me?"
"Sure." Donna grabbed her friend's arm, and they both went to her room.
It took them a little over an hour to be done. She packed some sweaters, jeans, t-shirts, a red dress - just in case, bikinis, and lingerie, of course.
"Take care." Rachel winked.
"I will." Donna laughed.
Her phone rang, and her heart beat erratically because she knew it was Harvey.
"I'm ready. Tell me when you are, so we can meet by the lake two blocks from your house." ~ Harvey
"It's him, isn't it?" Rachel couldn't stop smiling. She was so happy that Donna finally found love in her life.
"It is…. I should get going." She leaned over to hug Rachel.
"I'm gonna miss you." Rachel squeezed her best friend tight.
"Me too."
"Text me if you need anything. Hope you have a great weekend!"
"Thank you, Rach. Love you." And with that, Donna grabbed her suitcase and left the house.
"I'm ready. See you at the lake." ~ Donna
