Chapter 15

Percy POV

"It's fine, Zoe." I said, before walking off into the woods, leaving her behind. I didn't know what it was, but somehow the monster, well god apparently had gotten to me.

Of course I loved my mother, no doubt, but I had gotten past my past. There's no way I would be alive right now if I hadn't, but somehow, the god had brought up the memory and had used it to make me panic.

I was kinda embarrassed Zoe had seen me in my state, but thankfully my friend had helped me. I pet Icarus, grateful for his help, but the creature was focused on something else.

The hippogriff was running in circles, wanting to get my attention. As soon as he got it, the creature raised his back, beckoning me to get on.

I decided to trust my friend, and get on. As soon as I was comfortably on, the beast launched into the air. I slightly adjusted, a little surprised by the speed of the launch.

I was confused as Icarus continued to gain height and turn in the air, obviously he had a destination in mind. Where he was taking me? I had no idea. I looked behind us to see a dull silver light shining in the forest. Zoe, I had guessed.

I thought about the huntress, and why she was really chasing the gods down. From what I had know, me killing Orcus had caused quite a ruckus in Olympus, but because he was a problem for everyone, they had let it slide. Besides, he was already sealed away, so death wasn't much different.

But to kill 12 gods that were living free... it didn't seem like a thing Zoe would do, seeing as how she was rolling with Artemis all the time. I doubt the Olympians would let it slide.

Yet Zoe was still after the Androktasiai. I decided not to think about it. Besides, if I was gonna be with Eris then I doubt many gods would come for me, let alone her children.

Deciding to worry about the future in the future, I laid forward on Icarus's feathery back, closing my eyes, knowing that he would balance me while he took me wherever I was going.

To be honest, I wasn't even tired, but my bloody chest was worrying. And because I didn't have the means to take care of it, I decided I would deal with it when I woke up. If I woke up.

But I wasn't too worried, seeing as how my eyes closed almost immediately. I let my self fall asleep as my hippogriff guided me through the air, taking me wherever he wished.

I woke up from my dream, and found myself somewhere that left me pretty confused. All I could see was a desert in every direction, reaching across the entire horizon with no green in sight.

Though this was strange, that wasn't why I was so put off. The thing that was really unsettling was the all the sand around me was pure black, looking like some kind of nightmare.

The underworld, I guessed.

Now that confused me. How the hell could Icarus take me here. But wait...Icarus wasn't even here.

I whipped my head around, searching for the hippogriff, but it was nowhere to be found. I was starting to get worried but I kept my cool.

"Eris!" I called out. I was starting to think this was her doing, but I was met with silence.

When I realized there would be no response, I started to panic. Could this be the doing if the Androktasiai?

I took out my scythe in anticipation, and just at the right time seeing as how I noticed something in the horizon.

In the distance, across the dark sea of sand, there was a being. Though, I didn't see it with my eyes per sayy, but the aura it gave off.

And...Jesus.

Whatever it was, was giving off something that I had never encountered before. I was so shocked by the power, even from this distance, that my first thought was an Olympian.

I was starting to wonder what this thing was when I noticed something strange. Below me, the sand I was standing one was moving. In fact, the whole scene around me was moving, and towards the source of this presence, at rapid, rapid speeds.

As I got closer, I noticed that the source of power was in fact more then one being, seemingly a small group, maybe 8 or 9.

I got in closer to the group and noticed that they were fighting, and, boy was it bloody. There were at least two of the beings on the floor, bleeding out and another three were on their knees. And all of this was caused by the person they were fighting.

As I got closer to the fight, the space around me shifted, pulling me back just as I was about to see the faces of the fighters.

I was pulled back until the my already dark view was turned into complete blackness. I stared into the void around me, wondering if somehow I had been sucked into the sand like some kind of nightmare. Just as it seemed like I was in some kind of limbo, a light appeared in front of me.

From the light cams a voice, somewhat familiar but I couldn't place it. "Perseus, all of this, it's not what I wanted for you, but it was needed." Said the voice, now I could see his body, but he wasn't facing me.

"You were born to accomplish greater things, but a burden was placed on you. For that I am sorry. I hope you understand."

I stared in confusion, but before I could speak, I noticed something odd. I was crying. Coming from my eyes were tears in a constant flow, dripping from my chin.

The being who was speaking turned to look at me, and they too had tears in their eyes. "Won't you please forgive me?" He said, a slight sob in his voice.

I didn't know what it was, but I knew who this being was, but I couldn't put a name to the face. But that didn't stop my tears and the genuine sadness I felt. It was something worse then even when I lost my mother. That involved rage, this was pure sadness.

I reached out to the being, almost as if to hug him, but he immediately disappeared, turning into black dust.

In his place appeared another being, this one made of pure darkness. I didn't even know how I could even see him in the void, but there was a definite shape in the blackness.

I immediately stopped my crying, the sadness in my body replaced with caution. I knew this being too, but yet again I didn't know from where, but I knew he wasn't pleasant.

I was about to reach for my ring when I noticed that the dark being wasn't even focused on me. Instead it was focused on something else, another being in the void.

This being was cloaked in black, making it impossible for me to see any features. The only thing noticeable about the being was the large gold container on his back, one that I quickly realized was in the shape of a cross, something I found odd. (Crosses in the Greek world were not very common.)

Though neither being had said anything, I could cut the tension in the air with a scythe. In all honesty, both of these guys looked like pure evil, but the vibe I got from the all black being was off, and the cloaked one made me feel uncomfortable.

I soon realized that the two beings didn't know I was there, despite the fact the bright light being had before. As I was starting to get lost in my thoughts, I noticed that the all black being was starting to talk, his white eyes turning red while shining in the void and a smile forming on his face.

Just as the words left his mouth, my vision shifted. I watched as the void grew bright, almost blinding me. I was forced to close my eyes as the light reached a peak, before sinking back down, returning to darkness, almost like a exploding star.

I slowly opened my eyes to find myself laying back on a dirt floor, a comfy pillow behind me. I rubbed my eyes and leaned forward, but all I could see was black.

I attempted to lean back onto the pillow, but I found that it was gone as soon as I hit my head against the hard dirt ground. The thump immediately forced my eyes open.

I looked up, and instead of the sky, all I saw was the front of my golden eagle faced friend. The hippogriff was standing over me, his head sideways with a look on his face that was asking, "why I was on the floor."

I grumbled under my breath before pushing the animal away. I sat up on the floor, and looked in front of me to find a long dark path that lead to a road in the distance, trees on each side of the road.

A dream, then. Somehow I hadn't realized, even when things turned weird, but that had to have been a dream. Though it was odd it had felt so real, I decided to not dwell on it, because now I had a new question.

Where the hell had Icarus taken me?

I turned towards the beast, hoping to get an answer, but he wasn't even looking at me, instead he was focused on something behind me.

I turned around to see what had the hippogriffs attention, and was met with quite a big surprise.

Behind me was a gate, and a large brick wall surrounding a property, and inside the property was a large house, bigger then anything I had ever seen in New York.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was bigger then Deimos's entire apartment complex. With the size and the massive front yard, I was a little intimidated. Why had Icarus brought me here?

I decided that I would have to trust my friend, seeing as how I had nowhere else to go. I got up from the ground and rubbed off the dirt that I had attracted. I walked over to the front gate of the property and reached my hand out.

I planned on feeling the gate a little, to see if maybe it was a product of this mist, but before I even made contact the gate creaked before opening inward.

I looked over at Icarus and he looked at me. After a second of hesitation I shrugged and trudged forward through the door.

"What's the worst that can happen?" I asked before descending through the threshold.

Though I was expecting a monster, I didn't sense anything too overwhelming, so I deduced that it wasn't too dangerous.

Me and Icarus made our way across the green front yard and onto the large parking lot. I found it kind of strange there were no cars in the drive way, but I decided to let it slide.

I glanced over at Icarus to see if he was on edge, but the hippogriff was completely relaxed, walking along side me like we were in our own backyard.

I started to think that Icarus knew why we were here. He must've known, or else why would he bring us here. I guess I would just to find out.

We made our way to the door of the mansion. As I started to get closer I noticed a marking on the front door, Greek I assumed. There was no doubt about it, this wasn't a normal house.

I knocked on the door of the estate and waited. I listened closely for footsteps, but I heard nothings. I knocked again this time harder.

I was starting to think no one was home when I heard a slight tap on a presumably wood floor. I listened as the footsteps got louder and louder until the front door swung open, revealing the sleepy image of the goddess Eris.

Bit of a shorter chapter, sorry for that, I just wanted the dreams to be the main focus because they really are an important part of the story.

I would ask y'all to guess about what the dream could be, but that's too much to ask (because they are really vague lol), so rather, who do you think the beings Percy saw in the void where?

There was the bright figure, the dark figure, and the cloaked man, all mysterious, and all potentially bad? I guess we'll just have to wait and see ;)
