Walter watched as Happy disappeared around the corner of the room towards the door leading into the hallway. He let out a big sigh as he returned his attention to Paige lying there cuddled up against him. He saw her gorgeous brown eyes looking up at him and a tender smile on her face.
He frowned. "Did that ass wake you up after all?"
Paige half nodded.
"When did you wake up?" Walter asked curiously.
Paige smiled. "I heard you threaten him if he woke me. It took everything I had not to leap out of this bed when he slapped your shoulder. If I had thought I could have done it without hurting you, I would have."
Walter grinned.
"I'm so proud of you Walter." Paige told him as her hand came up and tenderly caressed his face. She grinned a bit more. "I think it is time for you to shave my Love."
Walter continued grinning as his left hand came up and pulled at a few of the hairs on his chin. "Yea, I've skipped a few things, like going to the barbershop since everything happened."
Paige continued to smile as her hand drifted up to his ear and played with the longer strands of hair. "I actually don't mind the longer hair to be honest. It is a lot of fun to play with."
Walter's hand had moved up her back and adopted the same caresses to her hair. "I can't disagree with that feeling. Your hair is a joy to play with."
Paige stretched up and they kissed tenderly for a few moments. Paige laid her head back down on his chest, her ear picking up the steady, rhythmic beat of his heart and she smiled with her eyes closed. "Part of me feared I'd never get the chance to do this again. I over reacted that night. I never should have broken up with you. I'm sorry."
Walter's eyes slowly closed as he smiled. "Well it was my own fault. I should have trusted you, should have found a way to tell you and let you help me instead of making you regret our life together."
Paige shook her head. "No, you were right. If I had known the truth, I don't think I could have played the role convincingly enough. And for sure if you had told me the truth about how you fell down the stairs last Christmas I would have come unglued and killed that bitch. I'm just sorry I hurt you with my words."
Walter hugged her tightly against him. "You didn't need to say you were sorry, but I accept it. I love you."
Paige grinned at the words she loved to hear, especially from him. "Were you serious about suing Centipede Partners?"
Walter nodded slowly. "I am."
Paige looked up at his face. "What will they do for money if you force them out of business?"
Walter half shrugged his shoulders. "I might offer Happy a position back in Scorpion, if you are agreeable to that."
Paige kind of nodded with that. "Maybe, we'll have to sit down with her and talk about it though."
Happy jumped into her truck and slammed the door hard. She glared over at Toby. "You just had to go in there and be an ass to Walter didn't you? What are we going to do if Walter carries out his threat of suing us?"
Toby looked at her with a little fear in his eyes. "I am pretty sure that was his plan already when he said Paige was back working with him."
"You sure didn't help the situation though did you? Maybe if you hadn't been so antagonistic he would have forgiven us like he forgave Sly. Or did you just think he would fold like a house of cards for us?" Happy asked him from between clenched teeth.
"To be honest, I'm not sure he ever would. It isn't in my nature to apologize to him like Sly did. There had been so much back and forth between us the last few years and while yes, I admit I was carrying a grudge for him killing me and then not telling me you two were married made it worse. He did plenty of other things. Like when he demanded to go into that bank when we were trying to get to the Dr with my swimmers." Toby told her as he adjusted his hat.
"That last part I get, but we still got it done in time and if you had produced them on site instead of someplace more conducive, in your opinion, the time crunch wouldn't have been a factor. And it isn't like it was Walter's fault the bank was being robbed. Not to mention he gave us the money so we could get the treatments as it was in the first place." Happy poked his shoulder.
"As for the marriage thing, it took both of us to do that moron, so stop being an ass to him about it. You might have a point about the fire, but he had a point too. Even with the vacuum created in that room by the halon we still had a hard time breaking the glass. You had minutes of breathable air left. And we got you breathing again. So what really is the problem?" Happy asked him a bit softly as her anger dissipated.
Toby kind of shrugged. "Maybe if I knew he actually felt guilty for doing it, I wouldn't have. But that damn superiority complex of his didn't even let him dwell upon what he did to me. It was just a damn variable in his calculations. He even ran over to get the server going again. You had to save me."
Happy nodded. "True, but he was trying to save Sly and the kids too, not to mention everyone else trapped in the building. His method worked with no lasting effects. You should have worked your way through that long before I did. Did you just want to be mad at him?"
Toby pulled his hat off and adjusted it before putting it back on his head. "Maybe, but I doubt he is going to forgive it now."
Happy sighed. "Well he certainly won't if you don't become submissive and grovel. You keep being antagonistic and getting into pissing matches with him and we are going to lose, end of story."
Toby nodded as Happy started the truck and they left the parking garage.
Sylvester sat in their offices answering the phone as he tried to work on their last programming job. He shook his head as he saw Happy's truck pull up in the parking lot. "It is about time. Now maybe I can take a break and get this job done."
He watched Happy and Toby walked up, kind of defeated looking and he frowned. At first he was worried since they were going by the hospital to see Walter. He hoped that Walter was okay. He jumped out from behind his desk and moved down the small hallway that ran between his desk and the front door past Paige's door. He pushed the handle and opened the door and called out. "Is Walter okay?"
They both nodded as they climbed the last set of steps up to the balcony. "Yea, he is fine. He's also going to be serving us with cease and desist orders."
Sylvester frowned as he stepped back. "Why would he do that?"
"Well apparently we had a 5 year non-competition clause in our contracts with Scorpion. And now that Paige is working for Scorpion again he is going to enforce the clause." Happy told him. "Probably thanks to Toby for being such a jerk to him."
"Wait, Paige quit and went back to Scorpion? When?" Sylvester looked confused.
The couple both shrugged.
"No clue, does it really matter though? I told you both we shouldn't have brought Florence in behind her back. Now we are going to be screwed." Happy looked at him before she started to walk to her work area.
Sylvester just nodded. "Well I need one of you to answer the phones then so I can finish this programming job."
"What does it matter? Just turn the phones off." Toby said grumpily.
Sylvester glared at him. "It does matter because we still have a few clients left to finish work for. I'm sure Walter would give us the time to finish our commitments."
The cargo plane that took off from the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier landed at El Segundo AFB and shortly after Homeland agents Cabe Gallo and Ted Markus stepped out of the plane escorting Mark Collins. They were met by several other agents from Homeland and US Marshals who took custody of Collins before Cabe made a beeline to his SUV and pulled up to Allie's work to surprise her for lunch.
Allie was quite relieved and excited when he showed up at her office. He'd been gone for just over a week after leaving to help apprehend Collins. Originally he was going to escort Collins to ADX Florence but with Ted and the US Marshals helping assist the other Homeland agents he was only too happy to surrender the duty so he could reconnect with Allie and then go over to the hospital to see Walter.
When he arrived at the hospital he found Paige deep into Scorpion's business records and calling the clients Walter had let slip in paying for his services. Walter was concentrating on the laptop after Katharine Cooper persuaded him to do his best as soon as possible to get into Homeland's computer system and find out if there was anything Collins might have planted.
Greetings! I hope this finds you well. I know this is a short chapter and I hate posting it but I need to so I can inform you things may be a while before I get back to writing. I didn't say anything when I posted my last chapter but the night before I got a call around 11:30. One of the cardiologists called to tell me Cathy's BP kept dropping too low so they transferred her to ICU. When she got there her heart went into vfib and they had to shock her. It regained normal rhythm but they sedated her and put her on a vent. Originally I wasn't going to post last chapter until Sunday but Saturday morning I just felt it was best to get it out since it was done.
Sat even as I sat down with my Mom and younger brother for dinner my phone rang and it was the Dr again and she told me Cathy had fully coded. She wanted to know what measures they should pursue. I told them she wanted cpr and shocks. The Dr said okay and we hung up. A few minutes later the phone rang again and it was one of their chaplains and he stood outside of Cathy's room and kind of talked with us as they worked to revive her. They worked on her for about 30 minutes total and regained heart function. We said goodbye and I put my dinner up as I wasn't really in the mood to eat just then and a bit later as I was about to leave my phone rang again. It was the cardiologist and she advised me that Cathy's heart stopped after about 10 minutes and they had been working on her for about another 20 minutes at that point. I handed my phone to my Mom as the Dr was having a problem understanding me (talking on the phone is very difficult for me). My Mom thanked her and told her I said to discontinue and let her rest.
This chapter started off okay and continued okay but the longer I wrote the slower it came and finally I've sat at this point for over a day. I wanted to let you all know so I figured a short chapter so I could explain why you haven't seen an update. I am glad at this time none of my stories are in any horrible points as I am not sure when I am going to get back into the groove. I will of course check my emails from this site and I will be around twitter. I thank everyone who has ever said a prayer or sent out positive thoughts for my wife.
To the Adventure! -Tim
