Dear Scorpius,
Which dress should I wear?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
Should I wear robes rather?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
No, a dress would be better don't you agree?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
Should I wear the red one or the black one?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
I've decided on the red one, the black shows far too much skin.
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
I can't possibly wear red, can I?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
I've charmed the dress green. It's absolutely horrendous. What should I do?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
I've charmed it silver now, and it looks absolutely gaudy. Can you think of any other colour I could use?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
I've charmed the red dress black. Hopefully it will do but I'm too tired to charm it another colour. Should I wear makeup or not? I don't know if wearing makeup is considered formal or too much...
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
I did my makeup. It's horrendous. Are you sure he'll tolerate it?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
What time are we going again? Are you sure it's 7:30? We wouldn't want to be late!
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
Maybe we should go early, and help out? Or maybe we should go later, just to be polite and give him more time to prepare?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Dear Scorpius,
Should we bring anything? I've already bought flowers but I'm not sure it's enough?
Love,
Rose xoxo
Rose rushed to her boyfriend the moment he set a foot through the door, already jittery with nerves and anxiousness. "Did you get my owl?" she asked, almost bouncing up and down as he began to remove his coats. "Well, you didn't owl me back."
"Yes, Rosie darling, I got all 13 of your letters. Poor owl, it was looking absolutely exhausted the last time it came back. It had to take a lengthy pause just to be able to get back home," Scorpius laughed as he untied his shoes.
"Oh, who cares about Dodo?" Rose pressed on, impatiently rocking on her heels.
"Well, you do. You spent more time with her than with me the first week you got her! I'm starting to think you prefer her."
"Oh, Scorpius, now is not the time for joking! Okay, tell me how I look."
She twirled in front of him, the full skirt of her (previously red) black dress lifting up around her. SHe had pinned her fiery red hair into an elegant up-do Scorpius was sure took more pins than necessary to hold up. Her makeup was lightly applied, the only distinctive feature was a particularly red shade of lipstick that perfectly matched her hair.
"You look absolutely breath-taking, my love," he reassured her.
"Are you sure the black is okay?"
"It's fine. So would have been red," he calmly replied, trying to soothe her nerves.
"Should I charm it back to red, then?" Rose began to reach for her wand, but Scorpius stilled her arm.
"No, it's perfectly fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"And my makeup. It's not too gaudy is it? I don't want to look like a slut."
"Darling, you could never look like a slut. Besides, it's perfect. Just like you."
"Are you sure your father won't think it's too much? I'm scared I didn't pick the right shade of blush."
"My father can barely tell the difference between a woman wearing makeup and one without. He won't mind at all."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, absolutely certain!" Scorpius laughed.
"I'm just so scared I'll make the wrong impression on your father."
"Nonsense. You'll make a fabulous impression on my father," he reassured her as he went to their room, to find himself some adequate clothing for their dinner that evening.
"That's literally impossible. There are so many things about me that'll make a bad impression."
"And what could those possibly be?" He rolled his eyes at her as he began to take out his formal robes. Rose was sitting on the bed looking perfect but so down-trodden.
"Red head, freckles, hand-me-down clothes? And the fact that I'm a Weasley?"
"I didn't know that dress was a hand-me-down," he said as he sat down next to her on the bed.
"Well, Dominique bought it via Owl-Post and it didn't fit her so she gave it to me. But regardless. I'm a Weasley. Sworn enemies with the Malfoys."
"Well, I'm a Malfoy and I like you well enough."
"Scorpius! You know what I mean!"
"And besides, you're not a Weasley. You're a Granger-Weasley."
"You're just making things worse."
Scorpius gave a small laugh. "Really, don't worry. My father's over all of his . Now, don't worry. I'm sure you'll make a fabulous first impression."
"And that's another thing!" Rose moaned , "I always make horrendous first impressions! I don't know how, but I always do!"
"That not-"
"Yes! It is true! I made a horrible first impression on you," she began to list.
"N-"
"Don't lie, it's true. Most of my roommates hated me for the first two years at Hogwarts and I barely have any other friends. Truly, the only persons who get along with me are those who were forced to be with me longer than the first impression."
"Rose, that's ridiculous."
"Not quite that much." She leaned into his chest.
"I'm sure your father will hate me."
"Well, he'll be forced to see you very often if it happens the way I'd like it too, and he won't be able to help loving you."
"I hope you're right."
"Of course, I'm right. Besides, even if he doesn't like you, what's the worst that can happen?"
"Well, if he doesn't like me, maybe then you won't like me."
"And why the heck would that happen? Why do you even think that could happen?"
"Because I'm worried no one else will have me, and I can't afford to lose you," Rose whispered.
"But why would no one else have you?"
"Horrible first impressions, I told you."
"Well, stop caring about first impressions. You don't need anyone else, you already have me, and it's not because my father might not like you that I will stop."
Rose shuffled slightly.
Scorpius sighed. "Put your hand in my hand," he told her. "I love you, and I'll do everything in my power to make sure you never forget it, and hopefully convince my father to love you too."
"Really?"
"Yes, darling. Now banish that irrational fear of yours, everything is going to be fine and screw the world if it isn't, okay? I'll be there with you."
"All right," she gave a small smile and wiped her eyes. They held hands like that for a couple of moments.
"But, I should probably get dressed now, lest we should be late."
"Oh my god!" screeched Rose "Get dressed! Now!"
"Okay, I'm going!"
A couple of minutes later as both of them stood in front of the floo in their apartment, both of them looking absolutely smashing, Rose gripped his arm slightly harder. "Just, will you answer my owls next time?"
"Of course my love!" He smiled. It was going to be fine.
