Ch 14 Angry Feelings

Back in the Pride Lands Kion had found Bunga and Binga and the threesome were heading towards Big Springs to visit Beshte and his family. As they were walking Kion decided to tell his friends what had been happening with Kovu. "Boy that Kovu sounds like a real jerk," Bunga was saying. "Maybe he's more like Zira than everyone thought."

"Bunga that isn't very nice," Binga scolded. "But I can see your point. Kovu hasn't been very nice. And Kion hasn't done anything to deserve such treatment. But I think Kovu's problem might not necessarily be with you directly Kion.

"What do you mean?' Kion asked.

"Well did you ever think Kovu might be a little intimated by you?" Binga asked. "I mean think about it Kion. Kovu has been rejected all his life. And now he's finally been accepted and has a real family. Then you come back and suddenly Simba and Kiara are paying attention to you and not so much to him. He may feel like he's being rejected again."

"I never thought about it like that," Kion whispered. "I think you're right. Kovu has had it really rough and hasn't been shown love. He probably thinks that with me being back that love Kiara and my dad have been showing his will go away. Kings knows that Zira's version of love came with all kinds of conditions. I bet Kovu thinks all love is like that. And that's why he's been so hostile towards me."

"Wow Bin you sure are smart," Bunga said with awe.

"I have my moments," Binga said with a laugh. "So what are you going to do about this Kion?"

"I'm going to try and talk with Kovu again," Kion declared. "I'm going to tell him that he has no reason to feel threatened. But maybe I'll talk with my dad and Kiara first and see what they think about this. Then maybe the three of us can ease Kovu's mind."

"You should get Nala to help too," Bunga suggested. "She always seams to know what to say in these situations."

"Good idea Bunga," Kion said. "I think I'll go find them now. Mom and Kiara should be taking a walk right about now." With that Kion began to walk away. But before he could get very far he heard someone call his name. Looking over Kion saw Kovu running towards him.

"Kion!" the brown coated lion called out. "I'm glad I found you! There's something I need to tell you."

"Kovu I'm not really in the mood to fight," Kion declared.

"Neither am I," Kovu declared, surprising Kion. "I actually want to make things right with you. That is if you'll let me."

"I'm listening," Kion said.

"Thanks," Kovu said with a slight smile. "Ok here goes. Kion there's something you need to know. Something I haven't told you."

"It ok Kovu I already know," Kion said.

"You do?" Kovu asked, the surprise clear in his voice.

"Yeah I do," Kion said with a smile. "You're feeling a bit insecure around me right?"

"I..." Kovu stammered, surprised at Kion's words.

"Its alright Kovu I get it," Kion said, still smiling. "And trust me you have no reason to feel like this. I'm no threat to you."

"You think I'm threatened by you?" Kovu said, laughing slightly. "That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I am not threatened by you Kion."

"Kovu," Kion began. But he was cut off by his brother-in-law holding up his paw.

"Look Kion this conversation is only going to spark another fight," the brown coated lion declared. "And like I was saying before: I don't wanna fight with you. I'm trying to make peace with you."

"Ok then," Kion said with confusion. "If that wasn't what you were wanting to tell me then what was it?"

"I..." Kovu began, not quite sure how to tell Kion the secret he was keeping. "I've been keeping something from you Kion. And its major."

"What is it?" Kion asked.

"Ok here goes," Kovu said, taking in a deep breath. He then proceeded to tell Kion what he had learned.

"How could you keep something like this from me?!" Kion growled, glaring at Kovu. "I mean this is beyond major Kovu! Its life and death!"

"Kion I'm sorry," Kovu began.

"I don't wanna hear it right now!" Kion shouted. "I've gotta get home! Bunga will you and Binga tell Beshte what's happening?"

"Sure thing buddy," Bunga said as he and Binga took off.

"I've gotta tell my family what's happening," Kion said.

"I could do that," Kovu offered.

"Oh no I'm not trusting you with this," Kion snapped as he took off towards Pride Rock. Kovu let out a sigh as he watched his brother-in-law leave.

"Well this is just great," he muttered as he walked back. "Now everyone is gonna hate me for sure. But its my own fault for being such an ass." With that Kovu headed back, dreading the conversation he was going to have with his mate and in laws.

TLKTLKTLK

Kovu returned to Pride Rock just as Kion was bidding his family farewell. "Be safe sweetheart," Nala was saying as she nuzzled her son.

"Let us know if we can help in any way," Simba added as he too nuzzled his boy.

"I will," Kion said with a smile. "And let me know when the cub arrives." Kion nuzzled Kiara when he said this part. "Take care of yourself sis."

"You too little brother," Kiara said.

"We love you son," Simba said.

"I love you guys too," Kion said. "I've gotta go meet up with Bunga, Binga and Beshte and head back home." With that Kion ran out of the cave. He passed Kovu on the way out and gave him a final glare as he went down the side of Pride Rock. Kovu let out a sigh and turned to face his mate and in laws, all of whom were giving him angry looks.

"I guess you guys are pretty angry with me huh?" Kovu asked, his voice coming out soft.

"You could say that," Kiara said, her voice having an edge to it.

"You've caused quite a lot of trouble Kovu," Simba said, his voice monotoned.

"Simba, Kiara I'm so sorry for the way I've be acting," Kovu began.

"Kovu we've discussed this before," Simba interrupted. "I've made myself quite clear when you first came here that I won't tolerate this type of behavior."

"Simba I..." Kovu started. But once again he was cut off by his father-in-law's angry sounding voice.

"I think I would be best if you spent some time away from here," the golden coated lion said. Kovu's green eyes went wide with shock.

"Simba please don't kick me out," Kovu pleaded.

"I'm not kicking you out Kovu," Simba declared. "At least not permeantly. I just feel that you need some time away from here so you can get your head on straight. Especially after the recent fights you've had with Kion one of which resulted with Kiara getting hit. Now I know you would never intentionally hurt Kiara but I do feel you have some issues that need to be dealt with."

"Kovu please understand we're doing this because we love you," Kiara said, nuzzling her mate.

"I...I understand Kiara," Kovu said, even though that was far from the truth. "And I'll go. But before I go I just want to say that I'm sorry."

"We know you are Kovu," Nala said with a slight smile. "And as Kiara said before: we love you and we really hope you can get to the bottom of your issues."

"Thanks Nala," Kovu said with a slight smile of his own. "And I love you guys too. And you're right I do have a lot to think about." With that Kovu gave Kiara a nuzzle. "I'll be back soon," Kovu promised. With that the brown coated lion headed down the side of Pride Rock. When he reached the bottom he saw Vitani standing there. "I guess you heard huh?" Kovu asked.

"Yeah I kind of did," Vitani said with a nod. "And I think they've got some good points 'Vu."

"Yeah I know they do," Kovu said with a sigh. Then his eyes went wide as an idea came to him. "And I know exactly how to fix things," he declared.

"Kovu what are you.." Vitani began. But to her surprise Kovu embraced her.

"I'll see you later 'Tani," Kovu said as he began to run. "I've got some wrongs to make right!" With the Kovu was gone leaving a very confused Vitani behind.
