Barbara noticed as she put it on that the new suit was not terribly unlike her old one. It had a cowl that hadn't been halfway destroyed was the first thing she noticed.
The sleek armor she donned now was a dark purple instead of black, the chest protected by multilayered plating, designed to be stab resistant, and bullet deflective, to a point. The plating that lined her midsection was flexible, to accommodate her nimble and gymnastic fighting style, as well as quick escape from gunfire and sight. The arms and legs were the same way. Going up about halfway up her forearms were yellow gauntlets with blades that could extend with a flick of her fingers. Stopping just beneath her knees were yellow boots, with the ears of a bat at the tops of them.
And on her chest, a sharply angled figure of a bat.
The belt was about the same as her old suit, but at the sides now were holsters for her batons.
She finished putting on her new suit as Dinah held out her new cowl.
The ears on it were shorter, which made them more difficult to grab, and the eyes were protected by a nearly invisible lens. She put it on, and just like before, she could scan people and items, and read heat signatures.
Down her back flowed both her newly dried hair, and the dark purple cape with the yellow edges and inside.
"You like? It looks good on you, Babs." Dinah smiled with pride.
"Indeed, Ms. Gordon. I made sure the coloring would be more true to your liking." Alfred said. "Master Grayson thought this palette would be more your taste."
Dick, She thought. You're still cool I guess.
Alfred pointed at her belt. "And Ms. Gordon, if you'll reach into compartment 8 on your belt, you will find a gas mask with a filtration system. I do believe you will need it to combat Genghis Khan in that opera house."
"I concur." AI-Fred agreed.
"A smart fellow if I do say so myself." Alfred beamed.
Batgirl grabbed the mask and tried it on.
Dinah grabbed her jacket, and they headed down the elevator.
"Do be careful, young ladies." Alfred warned.
The ride down was slow, and Batgirl was filled with anticipation.
"We're gonna need to do something about the speed of this elevator." Black Canary sighed.
"Absolutely. While we're here though, we could brainstorm a team name." Batgirl pitched.
"A team name? But it's just us." Canary inclined her head.
"That's true, for now. But what if we decided to have a bigger team?" Batgirl asked.
Canary wouldn't admit it right then, but she herself had considered expansion if things went well. She hadn't gotten so far as to think of a team name though, much less run any by Batgirl. Out of sentiment, she wanted Batgirl to decide on a team name. After all, here, she was going to be treated like a person of her own, and not just an accessory on Batman's crusade.
"A bigger team, huh? That would really drive Bruce up a wall. I love it." Canary laughed.
"I know we've really been on the hunt for people lately. How about...the Birds of Prey?"
Canary said nothing. It wasn't bad, but she was almost certain there had to be something better out there.
"We could workshop that…." Batgirl said.
"Actually...Birds of Prey just might catch on."
