Summary/disclaimer: time for another chapter of Sins of the Father. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Metal Gear, Konami, Hideo Kojima and a few others do.
Owl was quick to put a bullet through the head of the first soldier. The man was still hitting the ground as the others formed up.
Owl vaulted over the railing as the firing squad unleashed gunfire in perfect unison. The noise was almost deafening.
"How the hell did Dingo find us?" Rabbit asked before opening fire with his handgun. Owl watched as the soldier collapsed over the railing. "Wait, never mind, stupid question." Rabbit stated before taking cover.
"Rabbit, maybe try shooting first and then we ask who's left why they're here?" Bear asked before aiming his shotgun and putting a hole in the soldier who approached him.
Owl didn't spot Dingo among the rush of soldiers. Owl brought up his rifle and fired a burst into one of the soldiers. They reminded him of the black ops style soldiers Snake fought. Owl
"Who the hell are these guys?" Owl echoed while aiming back up the stairs. He managed to put another soldier down before being forced to dodge one of the troopers with a smg.
Owl guessed these soldiers worked for Dingo. They were neither the Russian soldiers Owl and his squad fought during this op.
Nor did they seem like the Genome soldiers… They were another group. Owl was sure of that. Finding out who they were and who employed them? Owl would wait till they were dead.
"You could save me all this trouble by handing over the target, 'boss'." Owl heard before Dino arrived with 4 more guards. Owl didn't know if these soldiers were employed by him… But he'd gut the man all the same.
"Dingo, I swear to god you better cut this crap out!" Rabbit yelled before one of the soldiers fired at him.
"I'm sorry, Rabbit… You seem to have shotty connection." Dingo joked before Bear popped out of cover and shot one of the soldiers in the chest.
"Or you can screw off and leave with your tail tucked between your legs, Dingo!" Owl hissed to his friend.
No, former friend. Dino put a knife in their back and Owl was going to rip it out and plant it in Dingo's spine.
"It's nothing personal, Owl…" Dingo stated only for one of his soldiers to take a burst through the hip. He plummeted to the ground with a crunch as Owl glared at him.
The man knew this was as personal as ripping out an organ. Dingo was part of their group.
Owl focused on killing the rest of the soldiers. They could argue with Dingo when the man was knocked to the floor. Now? Now they had to deal with the rest of his goon squad.
Dingo retreated from the room. Rabbit and Bear went to fire before being forced back into cover.
Owl felt a round hit his leg. He hissed in pain before Rabbit managed to nick the man in the arm.
"Dingo is really starting to tick me off!" Rabbit yelled as another bullet flew by his head. Owl grabbed onto the railing and let out a hiss of pain.
"When did you put him on the list?" Bear asked before shooting another of the soldiers. The man collapsed in a pile of crimson, twitching. "When he tried to flat out murder us, or when he pretended this wasn't personal? Because it feels pretty damn personal!" Bear hissed out as he inserted a bullet into his weapon.
The pumping noise felt as loud as the gunshots themselves. Owl wanted Dingo dead, that was something he knew without a shadow of a doubt.
"Focus on putting the soldiers down now… Get revenge later." Owl stated as he struggled to his feet. His leg felt like it was on fire.
Still? They had a job to do, Owl would drop dead when they were done with it.
Another of the 4 or so remaining soldiers went to take a potshot at Rabbit only for Owl to nail him in the legs. Bear finished him off with a single bullet.
Owl slowly pulled himself up the stairs. He leaned on the railing as if his mere weight would send him toppling over it.
"Rabbit, go and find the controls for the big guy." Owl ordered as he inched his way up the stairs.
The remaining soldiers pulled back to the door. Owl knew Dingo had more men. If he was smart? He was luring them into a trap.
"What about the weasel?" Bear asked as he glared at the door where Dingo backed away through.
"We're deal with him when and if it comes down to it…" Owl replied, knowing this wasn't a mission he and his group wanted to try.
But they knew Dingo wasn't done yet… And if it came down to it? Owl would kill Dingo if they had to.
The others backpedaled towards the control room, keeping their weapons trained on the door at all times.
