Ruth worked a little late on Thursday finishing up some last minute details before she went out of town in the morning. She was grateful because Steve had invited her over for dinner that night. It was one less thing she had to think about. She shut down her computer, turned the light off and closed the door to her office then headed to the elevator.

Over dinner with the guys, Bucky offered to take Ruth out to the airport in the morning. She graciously accepted as she had definitely not been looking forward to dragging her luggage on the train. Bucky took her home on his motorcycle that night.

He turned the bike off and Ruth stepped onto the sidewalk, putting the helmet on the hook Bucky had installed so he'd always have a helmet available for her. She leaned over to kiss him,

"I'll see you in the morning. 8 o'clock."

"I'll be here."

"You're the best. I love you."

"I love you too. Good night Ruthie."

He kissed her again and she headed into her building and he headed back to the tower.

Ruth spent the rest of the evening packing her suitcase then tried to get some sleep even though she was super excited. She hadn't seen Violet in a year and it was, as always, far too long.

Steve and Bucky both stood leaning against the side of the car in the parking lot waiting for Ruth and Violet. Steve nudged Bucky with his shoulder,

"There they are."

Bucky looked up to see Ruth crossing the lot with a beautiful redhead in tow. Ruth spotted them and broke into a run. Bucky pushed off the car and caught Ruth as she jumped into his arms. He spun her in a circle then set her on her feet and kissed her soundly. They stepped apart and Ruth couldn't wipe the smile off her face but she got her sense about her.

"Guys this is my best friend in the whole wide world Violet Malcolm. Vi, this is Captain Steve Rogers and Sergeant James Barnes."

"Please call me Bucky and it's a pleasure to finally meet you."

Bucky shook her hand.

"And call me Steve."

Steve took her hand and kissed her knuckles,

"You can call me Vi and it's a pleasure." Ruth didn't miss the look on Violet's face at the gesture.

The guys put their bags in the trunk and they all climbed into the car. Ruth told them all about her trip to Chicago on the drive to her apartment. When they arrived, Bucky and Steve insisted on carrying their bags up to the apartment. Ruth and Violet exchanged a look that spoke volumes, neither woman was used to being treated with such chivalry. Even after nearly 4 months with Bucky, it still felt special being treated that way.

The guys said good night and left the girls to unpack and settle in. Ruth had to go back to work in the morning so they both got ready and went to bed.
