(Mayella's POV)

My heart was thundering as I jolted awake, feeling as though I had been electrocuted. Mikey was still snoring from underneath me, holding me tight to his chest. Memories from today flooded through my head.

After I had woken up, Mikey had told me the Donnie said I passed out from stress and low oxygen level. That and my shoulder had been stitched up, while also being told not to do any fast movements, to make sure I wouldn't pull any of the stitches.

As soon as I left the lab, Leo and Raph were on the other side of the door, waiting to see Mikey. As soon as their eyes landed on him, they smiled before seeing me behind him, causing their smiles to dim. They grabbed him by the arm and started dragging him towards the living room, wanting to watch a show called 'Space Heroes.'

I got the feeling Raph didn't like that show, but he just wanted to be near Mikey.

Mikey had immediately dragged me after him, not wanting to be alone with his brothers. I had never seen someone looked as crush as they did. Mikey jerked from underneath me and I rubbed small circles on his chest, helping him drift back to sleep.

Wait, how long have I been asleep?

I grabbed my phone from beside me and-dammit, I've only been asleep for thirty minutes. I looked over at the couch, expecting to see Mikey's brothers asleep on the couch and I was shocked to see their places empty.

I heard a crash in the kitchen

I sighed deeply through my nose and decided to get it over with. I wiggled out of Mikey's arms (which was extremely difficult to do without waking him up) and slowly tip-toed to the kitchen.

"Kono shōjo, Reo o shinrai suru koto wa dekimasen! Kanojo ga darena no ka sae shirimasen!" (We can't trust this girl, Leo! We don't even know who she is!)

I froze at Raph's words, my heart freezing in my chest.

Was this really how they felt?

"Kimitachi wa kanojo ni amarini mo muzukashīdesu. Kanojo ni atta bakari de, ketsuron ni tobikomu koto wa dekimasen."(You guys are being too hard on her. We just met her, we can't jump to conclusions.)

I suddenly felt a lot more grateful for Donnie.

"Watashi wa kore o itte iru to wa shinji raremasenga, Raph no kenri wa - sono gaikan o ataete wa ikemasen - watashitachi wa kanojo ga darena no ka kentō ga tsukazu, watashitachi wa kanojo o shinrai dekimasen." (I can't believe I'm saying this, but Raph's right-don't give me that look-we have no clue who she is, we can't trust her.)

Sadness pulled at my heart, followed by unnecessary guilt.

Was I really this much of a bother? Should I just go back home?

I forced those thoughts away and walked into the kitchen, ignoring their piercing stares. "You know, you could have just asked me questions if you wanted to know something about me, rather than say things behind my back," I said softly, filling a cup with warm water.

I turned to look them in the eye, Atticus' rules being drilled into my head. Raph was still glaring at me, Leo had the decency to look ashamed and Donnie was staring at the floor sadly. I sighed, "Mikey trusts me, doesn't that mean anything to you guys?"

"Maikī wa saikō no handan-ryoku o motte imasen," (Mikey doesn't exactly have the best judgment,) Raph muttered bitterly. I glared at him, "Sore de, anata wa watashi no ushiro de watashi o in katajikena suru dakedenaku, anata no senaka no ushiro de anata jishin no kyōdai o in katajikena shimasu ka? Anata no hijō ni yūkan'na rafaeru." (So, you don't only insult me behind my back, but you insult your own brother behind his back? Very brave of you Raphael.)

Raph looked like he was about to slap me, but Donnie, who was staring at me in shock, stopped him. "How do you know Japanese?" I looked at him, confused, "I don't know Japanese, why?"

Raph continued to glare at me and Leo stared at me in disbelief, "We were speaking Japanese and so were you." I shook my head, taking a long drink of my warm water, "No, we were speaking english and we have been since before I came into the kitchen."

An awkward silence filled the kitchen and I set my glass down on the counter, the water now cold. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Leo elbowing Raph's side, nodding his head towards me. "I'm-ugh-I'm sorry about, ya' know, rippin' your shirt," Raph grumbled looking away. I looked down at my old Panic! at the Disco shirt, the one my uncle had got me before he went on tour.

I smiled and waved off his apology, "Don't be sorry. My uncle will most likely have ten more shirts for me when he comes to visit." Donnie stared at me curiously, "Your uncle?" I smiled again, nodding, "Yeah, my uncle, his name is Brendon Urie. He's on tour right now, but he should be back in Alabama in a few days."

"Wait, your uncle is the lead singer for Panic! at the Disco?!"

I nodded, "Yeah, he married my uncle a few years ago and now he's part of the family." Donnie's eyes went wide, "Wait, does that make your other uncle Jackson Finch?! The world-famous doctor?!" I cringed at his high-pitched squealing sound, "Yup, that's my uncle."

Donnie began having a mini-fangirl attack, fanning his face as he squealed even higher, "Wait, then that makes your father Atticus Finch, the best lawyer in the country?!" The happiness that I had been feeling disappeared and I stared at the ground sadly, "Yeah... that's my dad..."

He didn't seem to notice my tone, still having a fangirl moment. Raph rolled his eyes and slapped Donnie on the back, "Shut up, Brainiac." Donnie stared at him, wide-eyed, "Do you realize how well known her family is?! How much of an influence they have on everyone?!"

Raph shrugged before cleaning out his 'ear' with his pinkie.

Wow, way to make me feel important...

I heard a small whimpering sound from the living room, my heart speeding up as I glanced at the time. 4:38 a.m.

Mikey was having a nightmare...

I placed my glass in the sink and quickly walked into the living room, my heart clenching at the sight. Mikey was curled up into a ball on the couch, burying his face into a pillow as he continued to cry. I quietly sat next to him and gently pulled the pillow out of his face, revealing his tearful face.

I wordlessly opened my arms and he dove into my embrace, burying his face into the crook of my neck. "M-my family has s-so many e-enimies," he stammered, tears rolling down his cheeks, "They'll come after you, t-to get to me. They'll hurt you t-to get to m-me." I rubbed his back, "Shhh...I don't care. Let them come. You make me happy, I won't let them take you away from me. I won't."

He pulled away and stared at me, eyes filled with adoration and love.

"I love you."

It took a moment for what he said to click in and when it did, we both stared blushing. "What did you just say," I whispered, unsure if I heard him correctly. His blush deepened, "I-uhh-" We both sat up, staring at each other, Mikey looking nervous and I was looking serious. "Hamato Michelangelo, did you just say you love me?"

After knowing him for almost three months, and him living with me for two, the words 'I love you' had never been said. Mikey returned my gaze, looking a little sad. "I love you, Mayella. I've loved you ever since I've heard you singing along with Ariel when we would watch Disney movies together. I'm sorry if it's too soon or if I scared you or it wasn't the right thing to say. But I do, I really love you. I know you couldn't possibly love me, who could love a mutant turtle-"

I placed a finger to his lips, "Mikey, are you crazy?" He stared at me with wide eyes as I continued, "How could you hold me, touch me, talk to me this way without thinking for a moment that I love you as much, if not more than you love me?" He stared at me in awe and I placed a small kiss on his lips, "Come on, Angel. Let's get some sleep, you'll need it for tomorrow."

He laid back down, resting his head on my lap and I smiled, twirling his bandanna tails with my finger. "Can you sing me a song, please? The one you said makes you think of me?" I nodded, "Of course, Angel."
