Chapter Four - Part Two: Confirmation

Hawks collapsed onto the couch in the living room after dinner, holding both hands over his stomach with a blissfully relaxed expression spread across his face, "Oh, man... I'm gonna be working that off for a few days, I can feel it."

Misaki sat down next to him, placing two clear mugs of hot cider on the coffee table as she told him, "You didn't have to eat so much. You can take some home with you, you know?"

He managed to crack open his eyes and gaze over at her pitifully. "But it was all so delicious, I couldn't help myself! You know I have bad impulse control, Misa-chan!"

She smiled at him warmly as she settled back into the couch. "I'm glad you liked it."

"My turn!" He shot forward suddenly and reached into the inner pocket of his coat.

"Huh?" Misaki asked, momentarily startled when he held out a thin, wrapped box to her.

"Thank you," she said with a blush, feeling a bit timid as she took it from him. "Can I open it?"

He nodded enthusiastically, waiting anxiously for her reaction.

She carefully removed the gold paper and slid back the lid on the thin black box inside to reveal its contents.

"A pen?" She asked in wonder, removing the heavy writing utensil from the box to admire it. Its weight felt comfortable in her hand, and the grip flashed with hints of red, purple, gold, and blue. She immediately recognized that it was made of her favorite gemstone.

He leaned forward and rested his arm on the back of the couch, dropping his cheek into his hand as he explained, "I know you like to write notes by hand. The grip is fire opal and it's got an interchangeable calligraphy tip for business documents. It's also kind of a congratulatory gift for your new job, too. You like it?"

She looked up at him and gasped, "It's perfect! Thank you, Keigo. It's such a thoughtful gift."

He smiled warmly as he stared down at the pen in her hands. "I wanted to get you something you'd use often. It made the most sense."

"And the fire opal? How did you know that was my favorite?" She asked in awe.

He shrugged, averting her gaze conspicuously. "Lucky guess."

Misaki shook her head. "Fine, keep your secrets. Really, I love it, thank you," she said as she leaned forward, placing the pen back in its box and setting it on the coffee table.

"Merry Christmas, Misaki," he said, using her full name for once as he gazed at her tenderly.

She sat back and reached out to cup his face, leaning in to place a gentle kiss on his lips.

Pulling back a second later, she reached behind her and produced a small, wrapped package. "I got you something too."

He sat back and hesitantly took the gift from her, his eyes widening in surprise. "But the dinner—?"

She leaned sideways against the back of the couch and rested her own cheek on her palm. "That was more of an experience for us to share. This one is just for you."

He cast her a sheepish glance. "Now I feel like I owe you another gift."

She tilted her head, regarding him with feigned confusion as she gestured with her other hand at the Christmas tree taking up an entire corner of her living room. "What are you talking about? You brought me this magnificent tree."

He slid her a rare, contentious glare. "You didn't seem very excited about it when I brought it in here."

She smirked, relaxing against the back of the couch, and staring at him complacently. "It's grown on me. Kinda like you did, after a while. You gonna open that, or what?"

He held her gaze as he ripped off the paper before glancing down and removing the lid from the box. He reached inside to pull out the small metal object, turning his head toward her and raising an eyebrow as he asked, "A key?"

Misaki stared down at it fondly as she explained, "Now that we're official and everything, I thought it was about time to let you know you didn't have to wait for me to open a window or a door for you every time you come over. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, I just wanted you to know you were welcome."

Hawks's expression softened with affection as he listened to her, emotion welling up inside him at the gift he knew she wasn't even aware she'd just given him. "Home" had always been somewhat of a four-letter word for him. It represented a place of warmth and refuge, of peace and love; something he'd lived without for as long as he could remember. In a broader sense of the word, he supposed he would call Fukuoka home; the city he'd come back to after completing his training with the Safety Commission, and where he'd ultimately decided to establish his agency. The people there embraced him with open arms, and he was endlessly grateful to them for that. But they only knew one side of him.

Misaki's gift represented everything he'd always longed for but never dreamed he'd be lucky enough to receive. He'd made a vow to dedicate every bit of himself to the hero ideal, to making a world where heroes had more time on their hands than they knew what to do with. He'd convinced himself that allowing a personal relationship into his life before he'd achieved that goal was an unnecessary waste of time and would only end up distracting him from his ultimate objective. And he'd never questioned that decision until he met her.

From the moment he'd laid eyes on her, he'd been completely captivated by everything about her. It had taken him a while to fully accept the true depth of his feelings for her, but he had to admit, he'd passed the point of no return when he'd decided to tell her his name. Now, sitting on the couch with her on Christmas Day, holding the incredible gift she'd just given him, he could finally admit that he was totally and irrevocably in love with her. But what really amazed him the most about that revelation was how wrong he'd been about his relationship with her being a distraction. If anything, it made him even more motivated to make his ideal world a reality as quickly as possible.

The volatility and the odd hours of the job weren't exactly conducive to maintaining healthy personal relationships. Not many heroes were able to find partners who were willing to share their spouse's commitment with their job. That was a big reason why it was pretty common for heroes to either stay single for most of their lives or just end up marrying other heroes. From the beginning, Misaki had never complained about the time he spent away from her. She accepted that his job was a big part of who he was, and she viewed their limited time together as precious; a feeling that was clearly exemplified in the gift she'd just given him.

Moving before he could even think, he leaned in and kissed her firmly, pulling back not more than a few centimeters a second later to whisper in a voice that was heavily tinged with emotion, "Thank you."

Misaki's hands rose to cup the sides of his face, her own voice just as heady when she replied, "You're welcome. Really, any time."

She leaned in and pressed her lips to his once more. He slid his eyes closed and tilted his head, opening his mouth to flick his tongue out and lick at her bottom lip. Her mouth opened in response to the entreaty and he swiftly delved his tongue inside to slide over hers, intertwining them heatedly in their first deep kiss. Her appreciative moan vibrated through his mouth and he slipped an arm around her waist to pull her into his lap. She lifted her leg over his to straddle him, her knees sinking into the space between the seat and back cushions to bring her flush against him.

They both shuddered at the contact, breaking their lip lock for a moment to gasp in a breath before resuming the kiss. One of his hands found its way under the back of her cream-colored sweater, while the other trailed up the outside of her thigh to drag her dark red skirt up her leg. She rolled her hips against his as she slid her hand through his hair to cradle the back of his head, tangling her tongue with his more insistently while her other hand slipped down his torso to drift up under his white t-shirt. He shivered at the feeling of her soft fingers brushing over the sensitive skin of his lower abdomen and he broke off the kiss, sucking in a sharp breath through his teeth.

Leaning in to rest his forehead against hers, he asked in a breathy tone, "Should we take this to the bedroom?"

The corners of her lips pulled up in a grin and she bit her lip. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she sat back in his embrace and playfully inquired, "Not gonna chicken out on me this time, are you?"

He stared up into her hooded eyes, his tone one of rare seriousness as he told her, "If you wanna stop now, I probably still can, but once we go through that door, all bets are off. Are you sure this is what you want, Misaki?"

He wasn't trying to talk her out of it, not by a long shot, but they'd just officially confirmed their relationship two days ago. Granted, they'd been working their way up to this point since the first time he'd kissed her on the couch in his apartment, but it still felt a little bit rushed. He just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any regrets, for either of them, for taking that step so soon. If she told him she'd rather wait, he would respect that, but damn he really hoped she wouldn't.

She held his gaze, no reluctance whatsoever reflected in her cherry blossom colored eyes as she replied with conviction, "I want you, Keigo. Everything."

Hawks leaned forward and a moment later, Misaki found herself laying beneath him on her bed. She hardly had any time to marvel at the suddenness of the action before her lips were swiftly captured once more. At some point during the second it had taken him to move them from the couch to the bed, he'd managed to lose his coat. She trailed her hands unhindered up the middle of his back, dragging his shirt up with them. He broke the kiss and abruptly sat up, reaching down to rip it up over his head and drag it down his wings before tossing it onto the floor next to the bed.

She pushed herself up with one hand and reached out with the other to trail her palm up his abdomen toward his chest. He reached down to grab her wrist and pulled her up against him before swiftly recapturing her lips. He was forced to break the lip lock for a brief moment to lift her sweater up over her head, but he wasted no time once it had passed over her face before he delved back in to kiss her again. Her hands rose to cup his face as he laid them back down on the bed.

Pulling his lips away from hers, Hawks dipped his head to swath a trail of hot kisses down her neck to her collar bone. One of his hands drifted lightly down her side to grasp her hip while the other reached around to unclasp her bra. She sighed and slid her eyes closed, letting her head fall back against the pillows as he guided the straps down her slender arms. The hand that had been resting against her hip drifted up to the middle of her back to lift her up off the bed.

She gasped and her eyes flew open when his hot mouth closed over her left breast, a wave of heat spreading through her as his tongue flicked against the hardened peak of her nipple. Her hand rose to grasp the back of his head, the other curling her fingers around the edge of the pillow as she tossed her head to the side with a breathy sigh. Pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, she squeezed her eyes shut and let out a low moan when he flattened his tongue against her, sucking the taught bud into his mouth briefly before releasing it with a soft, wet pop.

The hand that had been bracing her back released her and she collapsed back onto the bed, her nerves firing off with pleasured sensation that left her softly trembling. He brought his hand around to cup her right breast, his fingers gently teasing her nipple as his mouth began to trail a path of featherlight kisses down her torso. She arched and squirmed at the soft caress of his lips against the sensitive skin of her abdomen, feeling butterflies begin to dance around in her stomach when she realized where he was headed.

Cracking her eyes open, she moaned softly as she watched him work his way down her body from behind hooded lids. His tongue suddenly dipped into her navel and she gasped, a shock of sensation racing up her spine that had her arching off the bed and tossing her head back against the pillow. She felt his fingers curl around the edge of her skirt and leggings and begin dragging them down over her hips and legs. Their passion filled gazes locked as he pulled them off of her before tossing them behind him to join the rest of their clothing on the floor by the bed.

She held his stare as he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on the inside of her left knee. Her pulse quickened with every centimeter his lips trailed up the inside of her thigh, her breath coming out in a small sigh when he placed a light kiss over the top of her black panties. He hooked his thumbs under the sides, his keen gaze never breaking contact with hers as he closed his teeth around the top edge and he slowly dragged them down over her hips. Gripping the underside of her thighs, he guided her legs up towards her stomach, pushing her panties up with them to wrap around her knees as he dipped his head to her center.

She cried out in a loud gasp, tightly gripping a handful of the sheets in one hand as the other flew up to cover her mouth. She moaned deeply at the feeling of his hot tongue slipping through her folds to flick against her clit. Taking her reaction as encouragement, he began to swiftly thrust his finger in and out of her core, hooking it to tap against that area with every inward motion. She started to pant, her breaths leaving her in panting moans with every exhale as he relentlessly worked the digit against her g-spot.

She swallowed heavily at the sight, her arousal rekindling as her hooded eyes watched him smoothly slip on the clear latex condom. Her pulse quickened in anticipation and she pulled the edge of her bottom lip between her teeth before lifting her eyes up to his. Her breath hitched and she shivered at the look of blatant desire burning in his golden gaze as he stared down at her in silent question. She held his stare as she lifted her hand toward him in open invitation. He took it, interlocking their fingers and leaning forward to cover her body with his, bringing their joined hands up to lay flat against the pillow next to her head.

He stared deeply into her eyes as he leaned in to kiss her. Her eyes slid closed as his lips covered hers and he tilted his head, delving his tongue into her mouth to tangle with hers. She arched up against the fingers of his free hand trailing down her abdomen to position himself at her entrance. Lifting her thighs to gently cradle his hips, she softly drew her fingertips up the middle of his back, tightening her grip on the hand she held against the pillow next to her head when she felt him begin to push into her.

She broke the kiss with a soft moan as he swiftly slipped all the way inside, the slickness left behind from her earlier release allowing him almost unhindered access into the very depths of her core. He began to set a steady pace, not slow by any means but not hurried either; just enough to gently stoke the embers of desire burning within both of them with every motion he made in and out of her body.

Reaching down to grip the underside of her knee, he pushed her leg up and adjusted the angle of his thrusts to brush against the spot inside her he'd found earlier with his finger. She cried out sharply and her grip on his hand tightened, the fingernails of her other hand digging into his shoulder as she pushed against him. Her mouth opened, releasing her breaths in panting sighs as her head tossed to the side, spilling her dark hair over her face and the pillowcase like paint tossed across a canvas. Encouraged by her reaction, he began to move more deliberately, increasing the force of his thrusts and sending her writhing and shuddering against the sheets as she cried out softly with every drive he made into her core.

Her inner walls clenched around him as her hips began to rock in time with his thrusts, the sounds of her panting moans and pleasured cries steadily beginning to grow more insistent. Sweat glistened like dew on her skin and he could feel his own body responding to the exhilaration of his actions. Her other hand slid down between his wings to dig her fingernails into his back, clutching him tightly as he violently rocked against her. He hadn't exactly planned for things to go this way tonight, but as the saying went: it was better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Her arms wrapped around his head and shoulders, holding him against her tenderly as he rocked slowly, working out the remainder of his release before relaxing and breathing out a deeply satisfied sigh. Tilting his head up, he softly pressed his lips to the skin of her shoulder, letting his eyes slowly drift closed in contentment as he nuzzled his face into the crook of her neck and breathed in deep her uniquely sweet and spicy scent. Her arms lazily unwrapped from around his neck, sliding back to allow her to cup his face in her hands and she tilted her head down to press a languid kiss to his lips. He moaned softly against her mouth, leaning forward to carefully lay her back down on the bed and letting himself slip out of her in the process.

Reluctantly breaking the kiss, he rested his forehead against hers and reached down to remove the used condom. He quickly tied it off and tossed it into the trash bin next to the bed. Curling his wings around his shoulders, he rolled over onto his back next to her with a sigh, blinking up at the ceiling in blissful exhaustion as he remarked, "That was amazing."

Misaki turned over onto her side, tucking her hands underneath her cheek as she stared at him. Noticing her attention Hawks slid his gaze over to her and asked, "What?"

She smiled at him as she bit her lower lip. "Nothing, just thinking… That was better than I dreamed it would be."

He raised a playfully inquisitive eyebrow at her. "You dreamed about me, huh?"

She rolled her eyes and reached out to push against his arm. "Don't say that like you didn't dream about me too."

He turned his head toward her fully, a serious expression crossing his face as he admitted, "Every time I close my eyes."

She gasped, her eyes widening as her expression softened before she shyly ducked her head and mumbled, "You always catch me off guard."

He grinned back at her. "I know. I do it on purpose. I love the way you look at me when I catch you in those moments."

Her gaze was utterly sensual when she lifted her eyes to stare back at him and asked, "How do I look at you?"

His lids drooped at that look in her eyes and he felt his arousal swiftly flare back to life inside him. "In a way that makes me wanna kiss you and never stop."

Deciding it was probably best not to push her too much their first time, he contented himself with leaning over to cup her face in his hand and softly kiss her. His arm slid under her neck and around her shoulders to pull her against him. Gently ending the kiss, she laid her head to rest atop his shoulder as he wrapped his arms and his wings around her.

"I always feel so safe when you hold me like this," she sighed contentedly as she drifted off.

"Goodnight, Misa-chan," he whispered, smiling tenderly and brushing her hair back from her face to place a kiss on her forehead before closing his eyes and letting himself drift off with her.

Misaki squeezed her eyes shut in irritation, her voice retaking the indignant tone she'd had outside a few minutes ago as she seethed, "And you're just telling me this now?"

Hawks grimaced and held up his hands, sensing her impending explosion and looking around at the other rooms awkwardly, "Ah, Misa-chan, can we maybe do this inside?"

Clicking her tongue in irritation, she stormed past him into the room the hostess had just opened up for them.

The woman watched her walk past with wide eyes before commenting to him in a low tone, "She's a bit of a firecracker, that one, huh?"

He watched as she flopped down next to the table in a huff with what could only be seen as an affectionate grin stretched across his face as he replied, "Cute, right?"

The hostess just smiled while shaking her head...

Phew! Hope it was worth the wait! Now that the gloves are off, we are going full steam ahead on the... Well, steam, I guess?

I attempt to tackle a little of Hawks's backstory next, (slight cringe) I think it came out pretty well and I hope you all do too! (fingers crossed!)
