On the way to Kings Cross, Hermione whipped out her journal and wrote:

On the way to Kings Cross now - mione

Me too, but my Uncle's bringing me cos the dragon couldn't handle my awesome Gryffindor ness - Sirius

Mums packed everyone Christmas leftovers for the train - James

Yeah and I have a few books for you Mione that I thought you'd like to borrow- Remus

The conversation continued on until her mother snapped"stop scribbling Hermione and walk in a straight line!" She was particularly irritable when she had to say goodbye to her babies, and Petunia refusing to see them off hardly helped.

As soon as they stepped onto Platform 9 3/4 the twins were ambushed by their friends.

"How was the rest of your break?" Artemis asked politely.

"How was the fair with the Marauders" Trixie interrupted eagerly.

"The same as when we usually hangout Trix" Hermione rolled her eyes.

"Honestly you're friends with the most poplar guys in our year and nothing happened? Ridiculous" Trixie rolled her eyes before turning to Arty to discuss the latest Witches Weekly magazine.

"Alice come on let's find a compartment" Lily said dragging Hermione with her. "They can catch up"

"Oi Mina cmon" Sirius had poked his head though the doors to the girls compartment grinning.

"Black what do you want with our Mione?" Trixie asked with a mischievous glint in her eye.

"The usual " he said with a wink before whisking his friend away.

"Here's yours Mione" James gave her a large tub of an assortment of different heated up foods. When she opened it, steam came out and a note said "keep our boys in check for me Love"

There were all different cuts of roast beef, pork and chicken, roast potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings.

"Aw thanks James" Hermione said cutting into the beef.

" the box is enchanted so when you're finished there's dessert, look at Rem's " James replied.

In Remus's box there were mountains of chocolate cake, treacle tart and Victoria sponge.

"How was the rest of your break Hermione?" Peter asked quietly.

"It was okay. Me and my sister got into an argument and then me and Severus got into one too."

"You and Evans?" James asked in shock. The Evans twins hardly ever fought. They were like the same person.

"Oh no my sister Petunia"

"You have another sister?" Peter asked in shock.

Sirius had read letters from Petunia and so he knew the pain Hermione went through. But he was the only one Hermione had confided in.

"Yeah, we er... don't have the best relationship"

"What were you arguing with Snivellous about?" Sirius changed the subject quickly.

"You lot actually" Hermione said with a grin. "Apparently he couldn't understand how I could voluntarily spend time with such arrogant prats"

"Arrogant prats!" James stood up and made for the door.

"Oh no I added that part myself" she giggled

"He's lucky you made it up" he grumbled and slid next to Peter.

"So Rem you said you had books?" Hermione asked squeezing herself into the gap in between Sirius and Remus.

"Oh yeah Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, a new edition of Hogwarts a History, and this really interesting book called Potions: a divine art. It tells you how to..."

"Yawn, Siri Pete do you hear what I'm hearing? Voluntary reading" James quipped with a look of mock disgust.

"Well if none of us are knowledgeable how are you supposed to pull of the best pranks in the history of Hogwarts?"

"We, Mione, we" Sirius corrected with a grin.

"What?"

"We pull off the best pranks"

"Er I'm not involved in those, I only get detention when I'm caught in the cross fire!"

"Ah but you're the criminal mastermind! Really all the pranks are you and Remus and we just take the glory" Sirius shrugged.

"No we just make sure you don't kill anyone in the process!" Hermione replied indignantly

"Whatever you say Mina" Sirius winked and continued his conversation with James about Quidditch.

"I I need to change!" Hermione announced grabbing the books from Remus and walking out of the compartment with her face an unreadable expression
