Chapter 13: Mega-Transportation
The following day, a giant, pink jaguar with six legs races through Las Vistas streets, it has three tails, dark magenta fur stripes going down its back and five figures riding on its back, clutching onto its fur as they hold on for their lives, Mandu gripping the fur with her teeth as her body flailed in the air.
"KIPO! CAN YOU SLOW DOWN?!" Benson pleads, shouting over the wind as it rushes past them but Kipo only picks up the pace.
"Nope. She's just running faster now." Dave deadpanned as his cheeks catch the wind.
"She has to or we'll miss it!" Wolf explains.
"You know when you guys said that we were going to travel by mega-jaguar, you made it sound fun!" Spike complained, "THIS IS NOT FUN!"
"Just hang on, we're almost there!" Wolf reassures as Kipo leaps over a building, showing the view of the ocean before running towards it.
"She's not planning on swimming to the cliff face, is she?!" Spike fretted, unaware of Benson and Dave exchanging humoured looks before Kipo came to a slow stop at a steep rounded heel that overlooked the ocean with a lush green forest on top.
"We're here." Wolf stated as Kipo leaned down for everyone to climb off before turning back into her human form and walks over to the others.
"Don't think I'll get used to that anytime soon." Spike groaned with the others chuckling at his statement as the group climbed the hill until reaching the centre, Spike noticing the strange patterns on the ground, "So, why are we here? You said we were going to 'miss' something." Spike wondered as everyone exchanged knowing glances with one another, confusing Spike even more until Kipo stomped the ground with her foot as hard as she could, the ground beginning to shake soon after.
"Whys the hill moving?!" Spike shouted.
"It's not a hill!" WOLF groaned exhaustingly as if she's had this conversation before. Spike falling to the ground as a gigantic tortoise head with four eyes emerges from the water and glances at them curiously before lifting itself onto its feet, plunging its feet into the water as it stomps away from land with the group on its shell. Spike starring in disbelief as everyone else took a seat among the trees and bushes that grew on the tortoise's shell as it trudges through the ocean.
"And we're on a Mega-Turtle, because?" Spike asked, looking to the group for an answer.
"Tortoise." Kipo corrected, "And it's the fastest way across the ocean."
"Yea, it would have taken weeks if we went around." Benson explained as he watched Dave try and climb a tree to get to the apples, falling as he slid back down the trunk.
"Here let me." Spike offered as his limbs formed into scaly claws, shocking the group with the sudden transformation before he leapt onto the tree and scurried up and around the trunk to a branch with the most apples. Shaking the branch and letting the apples plummet towards the ground, landing just between them with one landing on top of Dave, causing him to molt into his muscular form with an eager grin as Mandu starts happily eating his empty shell, Spike grimacing at the sight as he slides back down the tree with his claws and climbs off, his limbs returning to normal.
"You're getting better at using your powers." Benson complimented, picking up an apple as he tries to ignore Mandu.
"Thanks. As much as I hate to admit it, the goats really helped." Spike admitted, taking a seat next to Kipo as he passes her an apple, "Though I could have done without the smell." He added, Mandu squealing in disagreement.
"Nothing wrong with smelling like cheese." Dave said as he casually munches on an apple.
"I beg to differ." Spike deadpanned before starring back at the city of Las Vista as it gradually got smaller in the distance.
"I wonder what we'll find at the cliff face." Benson wondered, bringing Spike's attention back to the group.
"The goats said I would find my memories but I don't know." Spike doubted, "For some reason every time I try to remember what happened before the fall, I just see black, like, there's nothing there."
"Well, maybe it'll come back to you when we arrive." Kipo said hopefully, getting a smile from Spike.
"We won't have to wait long." Wolf added, pointing out to the distance as the jagged cliff came in to view, the cliff towering over everything including the Mega-Tortoise.
"You jumped from all the way up there?!" Benson gulped.
"Maybe I should be glad that all I lost was my memories." Spike gulped, staring at the massive geographical landscape in dread as the tortoise stomped past it, the cliff casting a menacing shadow over them as they made their way around, the group noticing the tortoise make its way towards a large beach at the foot of a lush green mountain that was connected to the cliff.
"Cause we're climbing." Benson sighed.
"Nah, I got this." Dave gloated, cracking his fingers before abruptly molting again into an old man, Mandu attempting to eat the shell before being pushed away from it by Spike's foot.
"Oh, yeah. You got this alright." Benson said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.
"Don't you sass me, young man?" Old Dave scolded, Spike smiling at their antics before his eyes turned towards the tip of the mountain as the tortoise slowly lumpers itself on to land before laying down on solid ground, the group carefully dismounting from the Mega's shell as Benson helps old Dave down before beginning their journey up the mountain, helping each other traverse rocky terrain and steep ledges as they climbed up the mountain until reaching the tip that was a small flat clearing in the forest with a single suburban house in the centre
"A house?" Wolf questions as the group exchanged confused looks with each other while Spike, however, was staring intently at the familiar house.
"…Home."
