Hey guys, long time no read! I am so, so, so, so sorry about the long wait, had a lot of stuff going on! Any who, got another chapter for you all! Quick side note, in response to The Chosen One 8888's review: You believe that the final showdown is between the Light spirit and Dark spirit/Anna? Muahahaha! Oh, my poor naïve reader, just you wait and see. To the rest of you guys, I hope you enjoy this next chapter! I decided I would include a song in the next chapter, so look forward to it! I felt that since the Darkness spirit got a song, so should the Light spirit. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy!
(We cut back to Arendelle, where we see the people, possessed by the Darkness spirit's power, all standing in the castle courtyard)
(This upcoming scene with Olaf and Sven is meant to be one of those comedic scenes where the person tries to be like a spy and sneak into something)
The citizens of Arendelle, all of whom are now under the spell of the Darkness spirit, were filing into the castle courtyard. In the back of the courtyard, Olaf and Sven sneak inside via a small door on the west side wall of the castle. The stick themselves to the wall and sneakily hide behind some of the pillars. Peaking out from the pillars, they look around and then look at one another, before hiding behind the pillars again and then quickly running over to another set. They do this again, only this time they reach a set of stairs that lead to the upper patrol level. When they reach the top, they crouch behind the railing and peak over to look at what was going on.
The main doors of the castle are opened by two guards standing on either side, and out walks the Queen of Darkness, a cool, neutral look on her face. All the citizens and guards, possessed by her dark power, proceeded to kneel in her presence as she laces her fingers together over her waist and looks around the courtyard. She then looks up towards the twilight, stars lightly dotting the almost darkened sky. She closes her eyes and breathes in through her nose, before then opening them again with a purple glow. Raising her hands towards the sky, several stars flew down from the sky and began to swirl around her. She sent the stars out and had them circle the large group of possessed people. After a moment of hovering in the air, they slowly began to shine and then materialized into 6ft tall men donning polished silver armor. In one hand they carried a large, double-edged sword and they had shields almost as tall as they were strapped to their other arm. The sun-moon symbol of the Light and Darkness Spirits, the same one that Anna had on the back of her hand, was etched into the chest plates of their armor and the front of their shields.
Sending down several more stars, more of the armor-wearing men appeared, lining up along the bridge that connected the castle with the main land. Once all of the men appeared, the magic-tranced General Mattias stepped forward and stood beside the Queen.
"Who are they?" Mattias asked, his voice monotone and only looking straight ahead
"The Paladins of Umanakia. Knights created by my darkness and sister's light. They served as our army before Umanakia was…" The Queen of Darkness replied, looking down a bit when mentioning the past of her home
"Why have you called them?" He asked, still monotone and staring straight ahead
"To prepare for battle. But for now…"
The Queen looks up towards the sky where the moon was becoming more visible, absentmindedly touching the sapphire at her neck.
"We wait for her call"
Olaf and Sven, still hiding on the upper patrol floor, look to one another with a bit of worry on their faces. Olaf then said, "I think we should tell the trolls about this."
(We then cut back to Elsa and the group, where we find them reaching the forest where the path leads to the lost kingdom)
As the moon hung amongst the stars in the night sky, its soft glow wasn't quite enough light for Elsa and the rest, so the relied on Grand Pabbie's light crystal as they made their way towards the lost kingdom of Umanakia. They soon reached the entrance of the large forest that blocked the way. The trees were tall and very thick in foliage, so the group looked to one another in hesitation.
Ryder, with a bit of fake enthusiasm said "Oh come on, it's just like being in the Enchanted Forest. Except…maybe a bit darker…and a little scarier…but otherwise it's a piece of cake!"
After another moment of paused hesitation, Grand Pabbie said "Let us proceed. If we wish to reason with the Light spirit, we can't waste anymore of the night."
Elsa, looking towards the black abyss of the forest entrance, took a deep breath and began to walk inside, quickly followed by Kristoff with Grand Pabbie on his shoulders, Honeymaren, and finally Ryder, who took another second before quickly following them.
(We cut to inside the palace of Umanakia where we see the light spirit floating along a darkened corridor.)
The Light spirit floats down a corridor with unlit torches covered in cobwebs and dusty portraits. As she floats by, the light radiating from her bounced off the walls, making it easy for her to see where she's going. She passes by a portrait of three people, but then stops and comes back to it. One was an older man with chestnut brown hair, brown eyes and olive-toned skin, wearing a maroon-colored royal suit and cape, sporting a golden crown and a serious but kind expression on his face. Another was a woman with ebony-black hair in a bun, dark skin and sharp blue eyes, wearing a dark blue gown with a smaller golden crown and accessories, wearing a soft, kind smile on her face. The third was a young man, with chestnut brown hair, blue eyes, and olive-toned skin, wearing a dark blue royal suit, sporting a sword on his hip and a smaller golden crown than the older man, a proud but happy expression his face.
The Light spirit lightly touched the portrait with a look of remembrance for a moment. The memory of the young man seizing in agony flashed in her mind, causing her grief as she scrunched her fingers on the canvas before continuing on her path. When she reached the end of the hall, she was confronted with the door the young man had reached in her vision from the sapphire. With a flick of her wrist, the door opened by itself, showing the large, circular alter room with the large rectangle stone platform in the center. The whole room was covered in dust, including sconces, chairs, and even the windows that decorated the walls and the intricate chandelier that hung in the center of the ceiling. The chandelier housed a large, clear magic crystal in its center, and it too was lightly coated in dust.
The Light spirit snapped her fingers, causing the sconces on the wall to light up, illuminating the dusty room. She then floated over to the platform and lightly touched it with one finger. A surge of golden magic power shot out from her finger in a ripple-like manner, making all the dust on the platform disappear as well as restore it to perfect condition, the marble stone becoming polished and shiny. The ripples continued from the platform and around the room, the dust and cobwebs disappearing, the room becoming practically new.
Before she could do anything else, she suddenly felt a shift in the air. She floated over to the double doors that lead out onto a large balcony and looked around. Since it was late at night, it was hard to see anything out there. Eventually, however, she saw a small spec of light peeking out from the treetops of the forest near the palace. Holding out a hand, her eyes turned golden as her magic shined. After a moment, her power was connected to the light in the distance, and she saw a vision in her mind of who the light belonged to. She saw it was the former Blessed One of Ice, followed by several others that she didn't recognize and one that she did. Her eyes narrowed a bit as she listened to them speak.
"Are we almost there? This place is creeping me out." A young man questioned Elsa, gripping the satchel that was strapped across his body
"I'm not really sure, but I feel like we're getting close. Grand Pabbie?" She replied to him before looking towards a troll that was perched on a blond man's shoulders.
"Yes, I can sense the Light spirit's power growing stronger as we get closer. It shouldn't be much longer now." the elder troll replied
"Alright then, let's pick up the pace" Another woman replied
Breaking off the connection from the light, the Light spirit gave a small groan and said "Just when I thought things were starting to go well."
She began to ponder in silence, while absentmindedly tapping her right hand's fingers. After a moment of thinking, she said to herself "I certainly wasn't expecting to see Pabbie here. If he's helping her, then this will complicate things a bit." She then turned and looked at the balcony doors before looking back over her shoulder and saying "I guess I should go and greet my guests" She then floated over through the double doors, which slammed behind her once she was inside.
(We cut back to Elsa and the group as they are walking through the dark forest)
As they continued to walk along the cobbled stone road, Elsa saw something in the distance. She quickened her pace and held a hand on her brow as she squinted to try and see what it was. The rest of the group followed behind her a couple of steps behind, as Elsa was starting to speed up. Eventually she reached the exit of the forest. As the others caught up to her, she was standing in awe of the large walls that surrounded the mythical kingdom before her. It wasn't easy to see everything since it was dark out, but thanks to the large, lit fire pits that dotted around the walls, she could see the palace in the distance, which stood proudly within the center of the kingdom. The others stood next to her and looked at it with awe as well.
"And I thought the castle back home was huge." Elsa smirked as she joked about her previous home in Arendelle
"I can't believe I actually get to see Umanakia with my very own eyes. Can you imagine all the history and magic hidden behind these very walls?" Honeymaren voiced her thoughts while still in awe of the sight
"But it looks like it's brand new. Are you sure this is the place?" Kristoff asked, looking down at Grand Pabbie as he put him down on the ground.
"…It looks exactly as I remember it, even after all this time…it was probably restored by the Light spirit's power."
"Meaning she's in there right now. We've got to get inside." Elsa said, continuing onward, the rest of them following.
They soon reached the gate that led into the kingdom. The gate was a large set of double doors that towered over them, looking to be at least 50 feet in height. It had all sorts of runes and symbols etched into it. In the center of the doors was a symbol of a sun and moon that seemed to serve as the lock that held the doors together. Carved into the ground was another strange symbol, only this one was more like Northern Star, except it had a circle ringing around its points and vines wrapping around the ring.
As the group got closer to the gate, they stopped when they saw a light that began to fly around one of the taller towers of the palace. It then began to fly towards them, which caused Elsa to hold out her arms in a protective stance in front of the group. Once the light got close enough, it landed on top of the wall that housed the gate. The light shone brightly for another minute before dying down and revealing its identity.
"It's her…" Elsa started with an almost inaudible whisper
"The one we've been looking for…the spirit of Light" Grand Pabbie replied, giving a look as though he was reunited with an old friend but was unsure of how to greet them
"Woah" Ryder muttered with a gapped face as he and Honeymaren looked at one another in shock before looking back up at the figure that was once thought a myth.
"My sister found the vessel, didn't she?" The Light spirit called down to Elsa
"You knew it was Anna from the very beginning!" Elsa yelled up at her with anger masking her face
"Well, not entirely. I did know about the vessel, but as to who it was, my sister never said. She always said, 'It won't matter who it is until we can escape this prison.' I only then knew it was Anna after I saw my sister's reaction when you mentioned her name on the island." The Light spirit calmly, almost serenely replied as she lightly walked a little to the left and then a little to the right, stopping right back where she started.
"Um…spirit of Light…I mean, your grace…we came her to-" Honeymaren began to speak up, but was then cut off
"I know why you've come." She quietly replied, before looking at the elder troll with a neutral expression that had a hint of disappointment, asking with a saddened tone "He created you, we helped you learn everything you know, and this is how you repay us? Siding with the one who would try to stop us? Was this place not your home, once upon a time? Do you hold no desire to see this kingdom brought back to its former glory? Do you have no wish to see them again?"
Grand Pabbie was quiet for a moment, before starting with "…Of course, I do. I've thought of Umanakia almost every day."
(We are then shown the memories in his mind. We see the streets of the kingdom filled with many different kinds of people. We see many stands selling wares, some of those being magical wares. We see spirits of different designs flying around, either interacting with the humans or doing their own thing. We then zoom forward towards the palace and up a tower, showing a balcony with the king and queen, a baby boy being held in the queen's arms. They looked down at their people with a smile, then looked at the baby, who began to coo happily. The Queen kissed the child's forehead and the King allowed him to grab his finger with his hand. They were then greeted by the Light and Darkness spirit with inaudible waves and smiles)
"I remember back when the streets of the kingdom were thriving, with people coming and going. Excitement and magic filled the air. All the spirits who lived there were free to do as they liked. Most importantly, I remember the royal family, who led the kingdom with grace, fairness, and a love for both their people and their magical friends. The Queen had just given birth to a prince, and everything was well under you and your sister's protection."
After a moment of silence, Grand Pabbie held one of the glowing, yellow magic stones that hung around his neck and looked at it somberly as he remembered the past.
"When I gazed at these crystals, I would be reminded of those happy times." He continued, before looking up to the Light spirit with a bit of a sternness in his tone and saying "I don't know what exactly it is that you plan to do, but I do know that using Queen Anna and her people is not the way."
"You left Umanakia long before the tragedy took place, so you have no idea what it is that happened here. What he did to them. My sister and I tried to stop him, but after what he did…he had amassed much power and trapped us in that wretched prison. Thus, when he is freed, we need that power to separate them and restore the others. We do not desire to harm anyone, but we have no other choice." The Light spirit replied, gripping her hands together and lowering her head in an apologetic gesture.
"So you would sacrifice my sister?!"
"As I said, we have no choice. She has a power in her that has managed to protect her from the curses that she has faced. It was born when she broke the curse of the frozen heart that you inflicted on her. It's only gotten stronger after she broke the curse on the Enchanted Forest. You've felt it too, haven't you?" She replied, looking at the Elder troll
"…Yes. Though I wasn't sure what it was back then."
"We believe that with our combined strength, we can use her power to break through his. Once they've been separated, our only option is to give an eye for an eye and trap him in the very prison he put us in. Otherwise, he might do it again one day."
"If you do this, Anna could die! There has to be another way!" Elsa yelled again, taking a step closer to her as she looked up at the spirit with desperation
The Light spirit slowly and solemnly shook her head, saying "I'm sorry, but there isn't."
Before Elsa could retaliate, Honeymaren put a hand on her arm and looked at her with an expression that told her 'Hang on a second' and then stepped forward towards the Light spirit.
"Who exactly is 'he', that you've been referring to?" Honeymaren asked, but was met with saddened silence from the Light spirit
"Is he someone important to you and your sister?" Ryder then asked, standing on Elsa's other side, still gripping his satchel strap.
"…Very important indeed." She finally spoke up
Grand Pabbie then spoke up in a kind voice, saying "Thea, we can help you, if you let us."
"…That name…Its been so long since I last heard that name spoken by someone other than my sister…" The Light spirit responded, looking up at the moon that hung above them.
The Light spirit paused for a moment and then looked behind her, looking at something inside before taking another moment to ponder. She then looked to the newly arrived group and gave a sigh.
"Come inside and see for yourself what has happened to this once great kingdom. After you've seen the truth, maybe then you'll begin to understand our purpose." She replied, and then began to float in the air, the light around her beginning to radiate more as she got higher up, then said "If you can make it to the palace in one piece, then perhaps I'll consider what you have to say"
With that, she turned into a big ball of golden light and zoomed away towards the palace. Once she was out of sight, Honeymaren spoke up saying "Wow, so that was the legendary Light spirit."
"I didn't know spirits could talk" Kristoff wondered aloud
"Normally they can't, but the Light and Darkness spirits have been around longer than the world itself. They are on a different level then other spirits." Grand Pabbie replied
"Is that a good or a bad thing? For us, I mean." Ryder asked
While everyone else was talking, Elsa looked up at the large double doors and then looked back at Grand Pabbie, asking "How do we get inside?"
"There" Grand Pabbie said, pointing towards the carving in the cobblestone road, before continuing with "This symbol is…well I guess you could call it the key to opening the gates."
"Okay, how do we use it?"
"Anyone who didn't possess the spirit's blessing used amulets with magic crystals in them to activate it. For those born with magic, however, all they would need to do is channel their power through the symbol. But since you-" Grand Pabbie began, but was then interrupted by Elsa
"Great, leave it to me!" She smiled and stepped onto the design etched into the ground, then stamped her foot. After a moment of nothing happening, the realization dawned on her and she silently murmured an "Oh…right" as she looked at her empty palm.
Grand Pabbie came to side and sympathetically touched her leg before saying "Allow me, my dear"
Elsa quietly nodded and stepped back. The Elder troll closed his eyes and held out his hands, and in a moment the symbol began to glow white. The light streamed from the cobblestone road and towards the doors, the runes and symbols etched into them starting to glow. Once all the designs in the doors were glowing pure white, the sun in the sun-moon symbol began to slowly spin around, then coming to a stop. There was then a creaking sound, and the doors began to swing open on their own, the sun attached to one door and the moon on the other. They were met with a void of darkness, waiting for them to come inside.
Elsa looked to the others and asked, "Are you guys ready?"
"You mean we're going into that?!" Ryder asked with a bit of panic in his voice
"Why, you scared?" Honeymaren teased
"No! I just…think we should be careful is all! You don't know what could be lurking in the dark" Ryder gave an annoyed look to his sister before looking at the void with worry.
"Take heart, Ryder. I'll be sure to light the way" Grand Pabbie smiled, holding up his magic crystal, which only made Ryder give an uneasy smile
"There's also what the Light spirit said: 'If you can make it to the palace in one piece'." Kristoff added
"I know…but we came here to save Anna. And that's exactly what I'm going to do, magic or no magic. Are you with me?" Elsa replied, looking at the siblings and the troll, then at Kristoff. They all look at one another, before they all look back at her. Honeymaren, Kristoff, and Grand Pabbie smile at her while Ryder is still giving an uneasy look.
"We're with you" Honeymaren replied
"For Anna" Kristoff responded
Elsa gave a smile, then turned back to the opened gate. A quick, deep breath, she drew the sword given to her by Yelena and held it at her side. She proceeded to head into the lost kingdom, with Kristoff, Honeymaren, Ryder, and Grand Pabbie following right beside her. As they made their way in, the gate slowly shut behind them, the sun on the door spinning the other way and locking it into place.
