Jay grabbed mouse and pulled him off the bed, "get down!"
Mouse groaned in pain as Windows shattered around him and jay, "what's happening?" He said
"I don't know" jay held his gun out in front of him as he shielded mouse from the glass.
"Call Voight, call anyone" mouse said
"I can't. I left my phone with Hailey"
"Are they after me?"
"Mouse. Of course not. It will be a personal matter between someone and the hospital. Always is. Now I'm gonna go have a Look but stay here"
"Jay just wait here"
"If I can stop these guys. I can save a lot more than is gonna die"
Mouse nodded and stayed down on the floor as jay crouched and made his way over to the door. Jay opened the door and looked around. It was quiet around the floor apart from a few footsteps and slamming doors. Jay went to lean out the door and take a look as he saw a boot flying towards his face. It contacted with his nose and he dropped his gun and it slid across the floor,
"Jay!" Mouse shouted.
Jay was grabbed as mouse watched and he was pushed back into the room. He had a gun to his head, "hello mouse. Missed me"
"You. You're dead"
Mouse looked at him in the eyes as he smiled at him. "I'm not dead. I'm here"
"You were killed. She shot you"
"Hailey you mean. The women a few doors down with a baby upstairs"
"You-" jay shoved him backwards but mouse watched as he pressed the gun against his head, "not so fast there jay"
"What did you do!" Mouse said
"Oh nothing yet. They're just waiting for us downstairs. I guess the baby was ready to come out that little machine now wasn't she"
"Shes innocent. Leave her alone"
"No no no mouse. I came back for you."
"We did nothing wrong. You attacked us. You were dead"
"Yes mouse and now I'm back. The thing is, I don't get fair, I get worse"
"Just leave us alone" mouse said
"Now I'm gonna count to three and if you don't come with me. I shoot him" the guy said with the gun still against jays head. Mouse pushed himself up but fell, "I'm too weak"
"1..."
Mouse kept trying but he couldn't do it. He had been in bed for days.
"2..."
"Please I can't do it" mouse cried
"3-"
Mouses ears rung as the gun went off, "NO!" He screamed as jays body dropped to the ground. Mouse crawled in front of him and grabbed him, "jay..." he shook him but nothing. Blood poured out his head and be laid lifeless on the floor,
"Thats a real shame mouse" the guy said, "time to go"
He grabbed Mouses ankle and pulled him away, "no.. let me go! Jay, get up man. Come on, just move. LET ME GO!" Mouse screamed and cried as he was dragged out of the room looking at jay laying on the floor, "let me go... let me go... LET ME GO!" He screamed as loud as he could.
...
"LET ME GO! YOU KILLED HIM-" mouse screamed
The guy looked at mouse, "wake up mouse and see what's happening. Wake up mouse... wake up!" He shouted.
Mouse shot upright and looked around. "Get off!"
"Mouse. Wake up!"
Mouse looked forward and saw jay, "jay?"
"Yeah. Are you okay?"
Mouse looked around and saw jay, Hailey, Ruzek and two doctors, "what happened?"
"You were dreaming" Hailey said
"Dreaming. I don't dream. Not since-"
"You were dreaming mouse. I didn't know until I heard you shouting. We were down the hall"
"Is the baby ok?" He said suddenly
"Yeah she is, why'd you ask? Hailey asked
"Umm. It doesn't matter."
"What happened Mouse?" Jay asked as he sat on his bed
"He came back but this time he was on him own. I was telling him he was dead, Hailey killed him. He was counting down but I couldn't get up and he shot you. You were dead. He had Hailey and the baby and then he was dragging me. I couldn't stop him. It was like it was playing in my head over and over again and all I could see was him hitting me and shooting me."
Hailey stepped forward, "mouse how do you know some on those things. We didn't tell you"
"I remember" tears dropped from his eyes as he looked at jay
"He shot you first Hailey, and then me. You went into labour and then he shot me. He beat me and you pretended you needed an inhaler and then you shot him. I work at the district with my team where I deal with computers, CCTV, and peoples information. I was in the Rangers but came back where I started boosting stereos and basically living homeless. I left the rangers after getting injured in a humvee accident"
Jay grabbed his head and kissed it, "you remember Mouse. You remember and we are all fine"
"I didn't think I was ever going to get it back" he cried
"I'm not there anymore. I'm home"
"We've been gone for a while now and we're not going anywhere" jay hugged him
"Jay I want to talk to someone"
"You do?"
"Yes because I know that last time I didn't tell to someone and I nearly killed myself and I'm not ready to leave you, Hailey, the team, my job and my new niece" he said looking around
"We'll do it together mouse" jay said
Hailey walked over to mouse and sat next to him, "you saved me that day mouse and I will be forever thankful but you are apart if our family mouse, you, me, jay and our baby. We're a family and you're never going be alone. So we're gonna talk to dr Charles and we're gonna do this together because I'm not quite ready to lose you yet" mouse pulled Hailey in and they hugged. Jay looked at them both and hugged them.
"We're gonna get through this, I promise." Jay said
"There's only one thing I want to do at the minute" mouse said
"Which is?"
"I want to see that beautiful baby girl of yours" he replied
"I'll grab a wheelchair" jay said getting up.
Mouse, jay and Hailey walked down the corridor together and into the elevator. Jay pushed mouse down the corridor and into the NICU. They stood in front of the incubator and looked at her,
"She's beautiful guys"
Hailey put her hand on his shoulder, "she wouldn't be here without you and how you kept me calm that day and then jay delivered her in the district"
"Is she getting better?"
"She is. Slowly but she is making progress" jay said
"Does she have a name yet?" Mouse asked
"Not y-"
"Actually, I was thinking today" Hailey interrupted jay
"Oh really. Go on then.."
"Her name is... Grace Hope Halstead"
Jay looked at her and smiled, "I love it. It's perfect. Our Gracie" he wrapped his arm around her and put his hand on mouses shoulder, "we're a family. Forever"
I have decided to end the story here as I don't think anymore can be said as I don't want to drag it on and it has come to a happy end. I have decided to write a sequel set in the future called 'Mistakes happen - part 2' so keep a look out for that if you are interested.
