Adam had moved in with Quinn the week before. He couldn't remember being happier. He kissed her shoulder and snuggled in closer to her, his arms wrapped tightly around her waist.

"Hey you" She said softly turning to face him.

She smiled as he kissed the tip of her nose.

"I didn't mean to wake you" He told her as she rested her head on her elbow.

"We both know I'd be up soon anyway" She said rolling her eyes "I like this time before it all gets crazy, I just wish you didn't have to go into work"

"I'd rather be here trust me" He said running his hand down her side and smirked when he made her shiver.

"You'll be the one getting the short end of the stick if you want to play that game" She warned him shoving him playfully.

"You're right" He said leaning over to kiss her "I guess we'll have to wait until tonight"

Quinn knew fine well he might not even make it back that night. She knew exactly what his job was and all the drawbacks that came with it, but it was worth it to her. Adam made everything lighter and carefree.

"Just promise me you'll be safe and not do anything stupid" She said looking up at him as he rolled her underneath him.

"I wouldn't do anything stupid" He told her.

Quinn raised an eyebrow at him making it clear she didn't believe a word of it. She knew him to well. Adam Ruzek was always in trouble and always doing something stupid, but it always came from a good place. It was one of the many things she loved about him.

"If you keep giving me that look, we might have to pick up where we left off though" He teased.

"You're into women giving you a hard time?" She laughed.

"I love it" He grinned "Why else would I be with you"

Quinn just rolled her eyes.

"See there you go again" He told her kissing her neck.

Quinn looked up from the couch as Adam ended up racing out the door late for work. He shouted something about calling her later. She just smiled and turned her attention back to Finn who was eating his toast and watching cartoons. She smoothed out his hair and he gave her that toothy grin she loved so much.

"Mom?" Beth said walking through and resting her head on her shoulder.

"What is it honey?" She asked furrowing her brow.

"Is Adam going to leave too?" Beth asked "Everything keeps changing"

Quinn couldn't help but feel guilty. She had talked with Beth before Adam moved in. She made sure she was ok with it all first and told Adam even though she had said yes, she needed to talk to Beth first. The two of them got a long they always had. But it had gone from being just the two of them to a whole family and then things had changed again and again. It was only natural that Beth was feeling a little insecure about it all.

"Adam won't go anywhere" She reassured her holding her hand "He was our friend before and no matter what that will never change"

"I like him living here" Beth told her.

"Me too" She agreed kissing the top of Beth's head "How about we have a family day today, just the three of us, anywhere you want to go"

"Really?" Beth asked her eyes lighting up.

"Really" She nodded.

Quinn always put Beth and Finn first above everyone else, but she knew they hadn't done much just the three of them in a while. Beth had spent a bit of time at her Dad's and Antonio's parents had been trying to see more of Finn, they had even asked about taking him to visit Antonio, she knew that would happen eventually but she asked for a little time to think about it. He had started sending child support when he started working but she hadn't heard from him herself.

She got herself and Finn ready while Beth got dressed. Beth had been begging her to go to the mall and pick out some new clothes and other things with the money she had gotten from her Dad, so they made a day of it. She had asked for hair tools and for Quinn to teach her how to style her hair and do her make up. Her little girl was growing up in front of her eyes and it was blowing her mind. She had agreed to some clear gloss and some mascara. She wanted Beth to grow up knowing she was beautiful just as she was. Quinn didn't have an issue with make up for when she was a little older, so she felt like it was an ok compromise. She had grown up thinking she wasn't good enough and wanting to change herself, she didn't want her daughter growing up in the same way.

She had treated them to lunch. Finn had picked out a new toy. It was a shame that Adam had to be at work, but she did love the time they got to spend together just the three of them.

She had tried texting Adam on her way back to see what he wanted for dinner, but he didn't get back to her. It wasn't unusual when he was on a case. She picked up take out from his favourite restaurant. Beth was obsessed with their burgers since Adam had taken her, so she loved it to. She thought he could at least heat it up when he got back home.

Adam paused when he got the door that night holding his key in his hand. That morning felt like it could have been weeks before. He felt sick to his stomach.

He took a breath and opened the front door. Quinn was laughing with Beth while they were watching a movie together.

"Hey" She greeted him with a smile still laughing "We picked up dinner from that restaurant you like, it's in the kitchen, sorry we didn't wait for you"

"Thanks" He said not quite able to look at her "Don't worry about it"

Quinn furrowed her brow as he walked by into the kitchen. He picked up the plate to heat it up in the microwave, but he wasn't even sure he could eat it.

"Hey" She said putting a hand on his shoulder making him jump "Are you ok, your kind of scaring me?"

"I'm fine" He told her not looking around.

"We're lying to each other now?" She asked taking a step back.

He sighed and turned to face her.

"Kim's pregnant" He told her not sure how else to say it "And it's mine, there was a night before we got together"

The lack of expression on Quinn's face was somehow worse than her being angry or upset. He didn't know what to say or do. It had been a bomb dropped on him that morning and he had struggled to process it, so had Kim, it had to be a lot for Quinn too.

"I care about Kim and I told her I'll be there for her no matter what she decides" He told her knowing he just had to be honest "But none of that changes how I feel about you, I know it's not conventional, but what about us is"

"You're a good guy Adam" She said softly "I know you'll do the right thing by Kim, but this will change everything"

"Quinn, I love you" He said taking her hand "Nothing will change that"

"She's carrying your child" She told him pulling her hand back "And I'm glad you get to experience that, but trust me it will change how you feel"

"Are you saying you want to end things?" He asked quietly afraid to hear the answer.

"I don't know" She admitted.

"Quinn please" He said taking her face in his hands resting his forehead against hers "We can get through this"

"I just need some time" She told him closing her eyes.

"Do you want me to leave?" He asked.

"No" She replied shaking her head.

Adam almost breathed a sigh of relief. They may have hit a rough patch, but they could get through it. He knew they could. It was so confusing. He was excited about the baby; Kim was still undecided but she had cancelled her appointment for an abortion so it looked like they would be becoming parents. But he was also really happy with Quinn, he had just moved in and he didn't want things to end. Co-parenting and being in a still new relationship wasn't going to be easy but he had to make it work.
