Chapter Thirteen: Rex Lives On In You, Chomper
It was a little later into the evening as Chomper and Scales walked through the forest. They started to walk across a bridge of stone that was next to a large waterfall. The two friends/lovers smiled at each other as they walked side by side. Chomper then asked her, "Isn't this a great place, Scales?"
"It is very beautiful, I will admit, Chomper." Scales said as she indeed think that. But then she asked, "Chomper, can I ask you something?"
"Hmm." Chomper said and glanced at her. Then she said, "You've been alive, all this time…" They stopped at the end of the bridge next to a large tree. Chomper knew where she was going when she asked, "How come you haven't come back to the Great Valley, to Fang Rock, back to us?"
Chomper took a minute to think of what to say. He started to turn to where he could sit down against the root of the tree before saying, "Well, I…" Sitting against the root he said, "I felt like I just needed to get out on my own and live my own life." He rubbed his back against the root as he smiled and said, "And I did. And it's been really great."
Scales, not really believing it, felt that Chomper wasn't convinced by what he said. She then said, "We've really needed you back home, Chomper."
"Nobody needs me." Chomper dejectedly said and he looked off to the side. But Scales firmly argued, "Yes, we do." She then believed it in her heart when she said, "You are our King. The King of the Great Valley."
"Scales, we've already been though this conversation." Chomper said to remind her when he looked back to her. He stood firm when he said, "I'm not the King." Then he added, "Scar-Eye is the King."
Scales then moved to sit next to him and she told him, "Chomper, he's let the Fast Biters take over the Great Valley."
"What?" Chomper asked in shock to this news. Scales looked away in anger as she remembered when she said, "Everything's been destroyed by the neglect and cruelty." Chomper's eyes grew wider as she listed what was wrong, "There's no food, hardly any water. Scar-Eye's making false promises to fix things."
Chomper could hardly believe what he was hearing. Scales then shook her head in anger and looked to him before saying, "Chomper, if you don't come back and do something about this, everyone's going to starve."
He opened his mouth to say something as he wanted to. But his reason for leaving was holding him back. Chomper looked away and got up from his spot while saying, "I'm sorry, Scales. But I can't go back."
"What? Why?" Scales asked with wide eyes, not understanding why he was acting this way. Chomper took a few steps away from her on an overturned log and shook his head, "You wouldn't understand."
"What wouldn't I be able to understand, Chomper?" Scales questions while following him onto the log. Trying to ease the tension, Chomper turned his head to her as he said, "No, no, no. It doesn't matter. Hakuna Matata."
"What?" Scales asked, really confused by the words. Chomper then explained it to her, "Hakuna Matata." He walks back to her as he says, "It's something that I learned while I was out here. Look," He walked around her and said, "Sometimes bad things will happen…"
"Chomper…" Scales said and couldn't believe what he was saying after everything she told him. Chomper shook his head while he continued to walk across and finished by saying, "And there's nothing you can do about. So why worry about it?"
"Because it's your responsibility, Chomper." She reminded him while stepping onto the other side of the log and walked along on the right side of him. Chomper stopped in frustration and then looked to his friend and pointed out, "Oh, yeah? Well, what about you, Scales? You left Sorna too."
"I left to find help." Scales angrily pointed out back. And then she reminded him, "And with some help I found you." Her face softened as she then pleaded, "Don't you understand, Chomper? You're only hope that things can get better for everyone."
Chomper looked as if he was thinking about it before saying, "Sorry."
"What has happened to you?" Scales questions, not liking what Chomper has become. She sounded hurt as she said, "You aren't the Chomper I remember as a cub."
"You're right. I'm not." Chomper said, feeling annoyed with the conversation. Then he sarcastically asked, "Are you satisfied now?"
"No." Scales shook her head, starting to get upset as well. She narrowed her eyes in anger as he then said, "Just disappointed by you."
"You know," Chomper said with a slight glare of his own as he stepped off the log, "you're really starting to sound like my father."
Scales watched him walk with a glare of her own and then said, "Well, good. At least one of us does."
This caused Chomper to stop in his tracks with a shocked yet hurt expression, and couldn't believe that she had just said that. His shock became anger as he turned around and growled, "Listen." He marched right up to her and said, "You think you can just show up and that gives you the right to tell me how to live my life." Scales' angry face softened a little when Chomper turned from her and said, "You don't even know what I've been through."
"I would if you'd just tell me, Chomper." She tried to reason while he stormed off.
"Forget it!" Chomper shouted back to her and disappeared into the forest. Fed up with him, Scales then shouted after him, "Fine, go!"
The yellow Sharptooth then looked away in frustration and anger. But then her gaze turned to sadness as she thought of how it went. Tears started to well up in her eyes and thought that she might lose all that she loved, including her best friend. The argument hadn't gone unnoticed by two individuals.

Chomper stomped out of the forest and into an open field of tall grass. When he had come far into the fields he started to pace around as he thought about what had gone down back there. He wanted to go and apologize to Scales, but when he thought about telling her why exactly he pushed it away. He grumbled and said, "She's wrong. I can't go back to the valley.
"What would it prove, anyway?" Chomper rhetorically asked as he continued to pace around, "It wouldn't change a thing anyway." His pacing slowed while reminding himself, "You can't change the past. No matter how much you want to."
"But you can make a difference for the future." A voice said from behind him. Chomper looked behind him to see Littlefoot standing in the field behind him. Chomper then asked with a growl, "What do you want?"
"You seemed a little upset from your argument with your girlfriend that I come to see if you were alright." Littlefoot said. Chomper's eyes widened and he questioned, "You were watching us?"
"No, but I could hear the shouting." Littlefoot said. Chomper winced as the argument could be heard at all, he just hoped that the others didn't hear it either. Chomper then asked, "So what are you doing here?"
"Coming to tell you that she's right when she says that everyone needs you." Littlefoot told him. Chomper rolled his eyes and said, "Look…" He struggled for a moment, "Littlefoot, was it. I would go back, it's just that…"
"Just what?" Littlefoot asked when he didn't say it. Chomper then said, "Like everyone else, you wouldn't understand."
"If it's because of the death of your father, I think I do understand it." Littlefoot replied. The purple Sharptooth then growled, "No, you don't. Because you weren't there so you couldn't know."
Chomper started to walk away when Littlefoot then said, "I may not know how you felt that day. But I do know how it feels to lose someone you love."
Chomper stopped in his tracks and looked to Littlefoot as the brown Longneck had tears welling up in his eyes. Littlefoot then said, "It wasn't the first time me and my Mom were attacked by Scar-Eye…"

(Flashback)
Littlefoot:The first time was a long time ago before Rex had been named King of the Great Valley, but the second time…
It had been a few days since Scar-Eye had become king of the Great Valley. A slightly older Littlefoot and his mother were feasting in a grove of trees. They were about to move on when they heard a loud roar coming from behind. Littlefoot and his mother looked back to see Scar-Eye, Redclaw and a few Fast Biters charging towards them.
Littlefoot's mother used her tail to knock down a few trees and it caused the predators to stop in their tracks. While they were distracted, the two Longnecks ran off to safety. It wasn't long when they heard their pursuers running behind them. They came up to an overpass with a narrow stone bridge across. Littlefoot and his mother looked to it before glancing back at the incoming predators. When he looked up to her, she had tears welling up in her eyes and she said, "Littlefoot, you need to get across. Now."
"But what about you?" Littlefoot questioned. Looking to the bridge he said, "That bridge isn't going to hold the both of us."
"It doesn't have to." Littlefoot's mother said before pushing him forward with her tail. Littlefoot stopped himself from going any further and turned back to her. His mother then said, "I'll buy you some time to get away from here."
Littlefoot gasped and said, "Mother, please, no."
"I'm sorry, my dear sweet Littlefoot." She said before using her head to push him half-way across the bridge. When he was closer to the other side is when she stopped. She raised her head with a firm look and then said, "Now, go."
Littlefoot didn't know what to say as she then reared up on her back legs before slamming them down hard on the bridge. Large cracks appeared in the rocky structure and Littlefoot reacted on instinct by running to safety. When he reached the other side, he looked back to his mother and she gave him one final smile. Tears fell from his eyes as he turned and continued running from the scene that was about to unfold.
(End of Flashback)

"And I haven't stopped running since." Littlefoot finished, a few tears rolling down his cheeks. Chomper was horrified by what his uncle had done. Littlefoot then said, "I get the whole Circle of Life thing and that one day, death comes to us all. But the way he came at us, it was like it was when he came at us when I was younger. Relentless, just like he was back then."
Chomper didn't say anything and Littlefoot said, "Your uncle may have been able to hunt me and mother since it's been a while, but I know the real reason that he hunts Longnecks; for revenge."
"Revenge?" Chomper asked him, confused about it. Littlefoot nodded and then said, "You haven't heard the story of a mentally sick Longneck taking your grandmother's life?"
"No one ever told me about it." Chomper revealed to him. Then he said, "I'm so sorry about your mother. I wish that there was something I could do. I really do."
"And there is." Littlefoot told him, and Chomper knew what he was talking about. Chomper looked down and took a deep breath. Chomper then said, "I know I said that I wanted to do something about it. But I can't."
Littlefoot's mouth dropped in disbelief. Walking up to the Sharptooth he used his head to knock Chomper onto his side and he angrily questioned, "And what about all those who need you, huh? Your pack? Your own mother? What do you think she would say if she heard you making empty promises?"
"I can't help anyone!" Chomper shouted as he hung his head. Then looking up to the Longneck he asked, "You want to know why I can't help anyone? Because I couldn't even help my father when he died! He said that he'd always be there for me, but he can't." Then hanging his head again he said as the guilt welled up again, "And it's my fault." He started to sob and said again, "It's all my fault that he's gone."
Littlefoot's expression softened as he could see that Chomper was so riddled with guilt he kept it bottled up until know as he let it out. Littlefoot stroked the Sharptooth's back with his tail as he wished that he could say something, but couldn't find the words. Chomper continued to sob as he thought of everything that he had lost that day; his mother, his best friend, his pack, his home and his father. It was then that they heard someone singing/chanting from a nearby tree…
Ruby: Asante sana,

Up in the tree, a familiar pink Fast Runner stood on a tree limb, held onto a branch above her and shook the limbs as she continued to chant…
Ruby: Asante sana,

We we nugu

Chomper looked back to the source of the chanting. He became annoyed with it as he wiped his eyes. He started to get up as she chanted again…
Ruby: Asante sana,
squash banana
We we nugu

Chomper then started to move away with Littlefoot watching him walk off. Ruby leapt from one branch to another and smiled when she had found the long-lost prince. Her smile never faded as she watched the purple Sharptooth walk through the field of tall grass. Chomper continued to walk through the fields until coming by a fallen log across one of the many rivers. Walking onto the log, Chomper then carefully laid down and gazed down at his reflection with a sigh. Suddenly, a rock hit the reflection's face and created ripples in the water. An irritated Chomper looked up to see the same Fast Runner in another tree while swinging on a branch and started her chant again…
Ruby: Asante sana,

"Maybe you should ask her what she wants." Littlefoot suggested when he walked up to the river. Chomper then asked her, "Will you please cut it out, miss?"
"Can't it out." Ruby said while Chomper stood back up. The Fast Runner dropped out of the tree, grabbed a stick and then said, "It'll grow right back! Grow right back it will!"
Ruby laughs at what she said while the two boys looked to her in confusion. Chomper then huffed before walking away from the Fast Runner. He walked right past Littlefoot while Ruby quickly ran up to him. When she was right beside him, Chomper looked down and questioned, "Okay, will you stop following me?" When she didn't he then asked with a small growl, "Who are you?"
"The question is, who…" Ruby said as she used her stick to grab one of Chomper's arms. He looked to her with surprise before she used her momentum to swing up into the air and land on his snout. She looked him in the eye as she asked, "Are you? Who are you is the question?"
Chomper opened his mouth to say something, but stopped as he struggled with the question. He sighed as he closed his eyes, "I thought I knew. But now I'm not entirely so sure myself."
"Well, I know who you are. Who you are I know." Ruby said as she walked up to the top of his head. Leaning down she then said, "Shh. Listen closely. Closely listen. It's a secret."
Chomper waited for her to say something as he didn't have anything better. But all he got was an earful of…
Ruby: Asante sana,

Chomper's eyes widened before shaking his head. Ruby held out her stick as she jumped and Littlefoot used his tail to catch it. He helped her down while Chomper growled in annoyance, "Enough of that chant!" Then he asked, "What is it supposed to even mean anyway?"
"It means that you are being foolish." Ruby said and pointing to Chomper with her stick. Then she said, "You are being foolish is what that means."
Chomper glared down at her before shaking his head and rolling his eyes. The two watched him as he started to leave and he muttered, "I think that you're a little confused."
"Wrong!" Ruby shouted as he somehow moved in front of Chomper and poked her stick against the Sharptooth's snout. Chomper glared down at her and then said with a small smile, "I'm not the one who is confused. Confused I am not." Then she pointed out, "You don't even know who you are. Who you are you don't even know. Who you are meant to be."
"Oh," Chomper sarcastically said as he rolled his eyes and walked around her before questioning, "and I should suppose that you do know."
"I sure do. Sure I do." Ruby said with a wide grin. She sounded proud when she stated, "You are Rex's son. Rex's son are you."
That caused Chomper to stop in his tracks with a gasp before he looked back to the pink Fast Runner. But Ruby had turned around and waved, "Bye, bye."
"Hey, wait!" Chomper shouted as Ruby quickly ran off. Looking back to Littlefoot he said, "Come on!"
Both dinosaurs chased after the Fast Runner and ran back across the log. Chomper had so many questions running through his mind as the two saw where she went to. They saw her on top a hill and ran up to her. Chomper took deep breaths when he came to a stop next to her. The Fast Runner was now sitting in a meditative position. Littlefoot appeared right behind them and Chomper then asked the Fast Runner, "You knew my father?"
"Actually." Ruby said with a grin and not opening her eyes, "I know your father. Your father I know."
Chomper hung his head, thinking that she didn't know about the incident. Chomper was sad when he revealed, "I hate to be the one to tell you this." Ruby opened her eyes as he said, "But he died a long time ago."
"Nope!" Ruby stated with a proud smile and a raised index finger. A shocked Chomper looked to her as Ruby jumped and ran from the rock as she shouted, "Wrong again! Again wrong!"
Ruby ran to a section of the prehistoric forest where giant roots arched in the air while giggling to herself. Ruby looked back to the Sharptooth and Longneck and said, "He is alive. Alive he is. And I will take you to him." Then gesturing for the prince to follow she said, "Follow me, Chomper. Chomper, follow me."
Ruby then disappeared into the forest with a laugh. Chomper ran up to the root that she disappeared under and looked to see if he could spot her. He looked back to Littlefoot and the Longneck said, "I'll see if there's a way around. I won't be able to fit through there."
Chomper then took a look to the forest where Scales, Cera, Ducky, Spike and Petrie were. Taking a deep breath and knowing that they would be fine for the time being, Chomper squeezed through the plants and followed after Ruby. Littlefoot looked about the forest before turning to his left and ran as fast as he could.
Chomper found it difficult to maneuver through the trees, roots and vines as he stepped over some of the low roots and ducked under the branches. When he came to a bigger opening he looked up to see Ruby waiting for her on a branch. Ruby looked down to the Sharptooth and warned, "Don't be dawdling. Hurry up!"
Then she started to hop from one branch to another to wherever she was going. Chomper then said after her, "Hey, wait, wait."
"Come on. Come on!" Ruby shouted from ahead. The Fast Runner kept jumping from branch to branch as Chomper continued to chase after her. While keeping his eyes on Ruby, Chomper took a path that was big enough for him. Seeing how fast she was going, Chomper then asked her, "Could you please slow down?"
As he continued to chase after the Fast Runner, Chomper tripped and fell to the ground. He grunted when he landed against the dirt, but was able to get back up and start running again. Chomper could hear Ruby's laughter coming from above and could see the Fast Runner jumping above his head. Chomper came across a tangle of vines and got himself stuck for a moment. The purple Sharptooth gave a small roar as he powered through it and the vines snapped from the strain. Ruby continued to laugh as he continued to chase after her. The Sharptooth continued to run through the forest but had lost track of the pink Fast Runner. When he neared an opening not too far away, he ran towards it. But when he was but a few feet from it, Ruby dropped down onto his head and commanded while holding out her hand, "Stop, Chomper! Chomper, stop!"
Chomper came sliding to a stop and took deep breaths while looking at the Fast Runner on his head. Ruby jumped to the ground and looked up to Chomper. Then placing a finger against her beak, she shushed the Sharptooth. Ruby ran over to a patch of tall grass and pulled back a few tall blades. Then gesturing with her stick Ruby instructed with a whisper, "Look down there. Down there you must look."
Chomper was a little nervous at first, but he worked up the nerve before walking over. He came up next to the Fast Runner and looked to Ruby before looking down a small rise. Then taking a deep breath, Chomper walked down the slope. He came to a ledge that overlooked a small pond. Not fully understanding how this would allow him to see his father. Chomper then looked over the edge and into the water, somewhat expecting to see his father, but all he could see in the water was his own reflection. With a sigh, Chomper backed away from the water and glanced down to Ruby who had joined her. With a sigh he said, "That's not my father. That's just my reflection in the water."
"No." Ruby said as she placed a comforting hand on Chomper's shoulder. Then she pointed down at the water with her stick and instructed, "Look harder, Chomper. Chomper, look harder."
Chomper decided to trust her and looked back down to the water and gave it a moment. Ripples started to wave out as he kept his eyes on the reflection. Chomper squinted his eyes as the image of her own reflection changed into the stoic appearance of his father. Ruby smiled as she said, "You see. Rex lives on within you, Chomper. Chomper, within you Rex lives."
Chomper's eyes widened to this before the sky darkened and a voice boomed, "Chomper."
Looking up into the sky, Chomper asked, "Father?"
His eyes grew wide again as a large cloud rolled in and in the middle of that cloud a shape walked through it. From behind the two, Littlefoot had finally arrived on the scene and he stared at the sky in wonder and awe. The shape was that of a Big Biter Sharptooth and it turned into the ghostly apparition of his father, as if the stars made up the former king's body. Rex's spirit looked down to his son and sounded and looked disappointed as he said, "Chomper, you have forgotten me."
"No!" Chomper shook his head. Then he said, "I would never forget you, Dad."
The clouds swirled around Rex as he said, "But you have, Chomper. Since you have forgotten who you are, and so you have forgotten me." Rex then advised him, "Look within yourself, Chomper. You are truly more than what you have become." His gaze became firm as he said, "You must take your place in the Circle of Life. You must make things right in the Great Valley. You must become King."
"But how can I go back?" Chomper questioned, unsure that he can face his past and shook his head as he said, "I'm not who I used to be." He hung his head and said, "I'm not like. I'm not strong enough."
"No." Rex shook his head and it surprised Chomper. His spirit was starting to look more like his former self and swirled around him. Rex smiled as he said, "You're stronger." Rex's smile dropped a little as he said, "Remember who you are, Chomper. You are my son and the one true King of the Great Valley."
Chomper didn't know what to say as he gazed up to his father's spirit while tears welled up in his eyes. Rex started to vanish as he said, "Remember who you are."
"No! Please!" Chomper shouted and started to chase after his father's spirit. He wanted his father to stay with him as he added, "Don't leave me again!"
"Remember." Rex said while Chomper continued running through the field. Fearing of being alone again, Chomper cried out, "Father!"
"Remember!" Rex shouted as his voice started to fade. Chomper slowed down and he said. "Please, don't leave me, Father."
"Remember." Rex said one final time before the skies became silent and brightened back up. Chomper came to a stop on top a hill and gazed up into the clouds and sat down. A gust of wind blew through the grass while Chomper thought about his father's words. Littlefoot and Ruby came walking up to Chomper and the latter said, "What was that? Ha ha!
"The weather." She said with a sputter while Chomper looked to them. Ruby looked to him and asked, "That was something peculiar, don't you think? Don't you think that was something peculiar?"
"Yeah." Chomper nodded. He looked about the skies as he could feel change and he said, "It looks like the winds are starting to change."
"Well, that sounds good." Littlefoot said with a grin. Ruby nodded and rubbed her change, "Ahh, change is good."
Chomper looked down to her and she said, "Change can be good."
"Yeah," The purple Sharptooth said with a shake of his head, "but it sure isn't easy."
"That's true to." Littlefoot agreed. The wheels turned in Chomper's head as he knew what needed to be done, but he was still uncertain about it when he said, "I know what I have to do, but going back means that I'll have to face my past." He looked away in shame as he said, "I've been running away from it for so long."
Littlefoot and Ruby smirked to each other and nodded as the Longneck raised his tail before smacking it hard against Chomper's head. Chomper cringed from the blow as he backed away from them and rubbed the back of his head, "Ow! Jeez!" He looked to the two and questioned with a glare, "What was that for?"
"It doesn't matter. Matter it does not." Ruby said with a wide grin. Littlefoot nodded and said, "It's all in the past."
Chomper brought his hand around to see if there was any blood, and thankfully there wasn't. With a shake of his head he then said, "Yeah, but it still hurts, you know."
Ruby came closer and placed a comforting hand on Chomper's hand as she said, "Oh, I know that the past can keep hurting. Keep hurting the past can." She then turned it into a lesson by saying, "But there is a way to deal with the pain. You can either run from it." Ruby prepared a swing of her own and said, "Or learn from it."
Chomper raised his leg when she swung and Ruby gave an impressed laugh, "Ah, ha!" Then she asked, "You see? So now what are you going to do? What are to do now?"
"First," Chomper said with a smirk. Ruby's face fell when Chomper said, "I'm gonna take your stick."
"No, no, no, no! Not the stick!" Ruby cried as Chomper grabbed it with his jaws and threw it a few feet away. Ruby rushed to go get it while Chomper then said to Littlefoot, "And then I'm gonna do this!"
Before Littlefoot could react, Chomper lunged at him and used his head to knock the Longneck onto his side. Littlefoot grunted when he landed and sat up while giving a half-grin to the Sharptooth. Ruby ran back to him and could see Chomper starting to run off into the distance. Then she shouted after him, "Hey! Where are you going?!"
"I'm going back to the Great Valley!" Chomper shouted over his shoulder. He headed towards the mountains as he remembered the way back home. Ruby waved an arm and shouted after the running Sharptooth, "Good! Get out of here!"
As the purple Sharptooth shrank int the distance, "Ruby chuckled before shouting, "Whoo!" Then holding her arms wide she shouts while shooting stars raced across the night sky, "Whoooo!" Chomper had completely disappeared when Ruby lifted her staff above her head with both hands and gives one final joyous shout, "Whoooo!"
Looking to Littlefoot she then said, "Follow him to the Great Valley. To the Great Valley follow him."
"Okay." Littlefoot said as he got up on his feet. Ruby then said, "And remember not to give in to your anger."
"Right." Littlefoot said as he knew that his anger for his mother would make him cost him. He knew that she would be avenged, and believed that Chomper could see things put right. With a final nod to Ruby, Littlefoot started to run after Chomper, his King.

Back in the Great Valley, things were still in disarray. The day was nearly about to start over Fang Rock. Scar-Eye was currently escorting Zoza out of the cave after a night of love. With a grin he asked, "Same time tomorrow?"
"Always, my King." Zoza said with a grin before licking the side of his face. Scar-Eye watched her walk off before his grin fell and he turned the other way. Walking to another cave, he walked in to find Pterano being interrogated by Redclaw. Redclaw looked back to see his King arrive and said, "Good morning, your Majesty."
"Has he given us anything?" Scar-Eye questioned with a growl. Redclaw shook his head and said, "Nothing yet, sire."
Scar-Eye snarled at Pterano, making the Flier cringe in fear. Scar-Eye then said, "Put him in a cage. I'll deal with him later."
"Yes, your Majesty." Redclaw said before grabbing Pterano by the neck. The Flier choked and tried to fight his way out, but was ultimately dropped to the ground and a large enough ribcage was placed over him. Pterano then shouted, "Your reign won't last forever, Scar-Eye. Mark my words."
"The only thing I will mark, is my teeth in your hide." Scar-Eye growled before turning to the cave entrance. When they were gone, Pterano looked up to the ceiling and prayed that a miracle would come.

The next morning, everything was quiet in the valley. It was very peaceful for the four friends. Cera, Ducky, Petrie and Spike were all sleeping next to the roots of a large tree. A light fog and rolled into the valley, but it didn't seem to bother them as Spike talked in his sleep, "Tree stars! Tree stars!"
Cera responded by subconsciously whacking Spike in the side with her tail and it made him stop. A figure moved through the fog and Scales carefully walked up to the four. She looked at them and said, "Hey. Hey, wake up, you guys."
When it didn't seem to even stir any of them, Scales then thought of something else. Taking a deep breath, the yellow Sharptooth let out an ear piercing roar that rang out through the valley for miles. Not only did it send flocks of little Fliers flying off in fright, but it caused the four friends to wake up screaming. Spike, Petrie and Ducky all hide behind Cera and they continued to scream. Scales then shouted to them, "It's okay! Whoa, whoa! It's okay! Calm down, you guys." Their screaming died down as she calmly said with a smile, "It's just me, you guys."
Spike and Petrie looked as if they were about to have a heart attack while Ducky took deep breaths to calm her down. Cera looked Scales in the eye and then said, "Don't ever do that again. Even if you are Chomper's best friend and girlfriend." She shook her head and said, "Sharpteeth! Oy!"
Though slightly offended, Scales chose to ignore it. She took a deep breath and then asked, "Have any of you seen Chomper or Littlefoot?"
"Well, Littlefoot, I can't speak for him." Cera commented. Ducky then said in confusion, "We thought that he was with you."
"He was, but now I can't find him or Littlefoot anywhere." A now worried Scales said. Spike looked to Petrie and asked, "Where do you think they went?"
Petrie could only shrug his shoulders as he too didn't know. The sound of laughter caused them all to look up into a tree. They saw Ruby sitting on a branch and using another to balance herself. Ruby had a wide smile as she said, "You won't find him here in the valley. In the valley you won't find him." Then placing a hand to her heart, the Fast Runner then slightly bowed before saying, "The King has returned. Returned the King has."
"I can't believe it." Scales said as she looked down. Looking to the four she excitedly said, "He's gone back home to the Great Valley!"
"Gone back?" Cera asked while looking to the other three. They all shrugged as they didn't understand it either. Cera then asked, "What do you mean?"
They all looked up to Ruby again, but saw that she was no longer there in the tree. An annoyed Cera then questioned, "Hey, what in the world is going on?" Turning to Scales she then questioned, "Who's the Fast Runner?!"
"Chomper's gone back to Fang Rock to challenge Scar-Eye." Scales explained. That didn't make the situation any clearer for them as Ducky tilted her head and asked, "Uh, who?"
"Scar-Eye." Scales said as she took a step closer, feeling a little annoyed. Spike then asked, "Who's got an scar on their eye?"
"No, no, no." Scales said with a shake of her head. Then she said, "He's Chomper's his uncle."
"The Fast Runner his uncle?" Petrie asked, still a little confused. Scales growled again, "No!"
She took a deep breath and then explained it, "Chomper has gone back to the Great Valley to challenge his Uncle Scar-Eye to take his rightful place as King."
"Oh." All four said as they finally understood. Then turning around, Scales gestured with her head and said, "Come on, we gotta go help him. He's going to need our help taking back the Great Valley."
"Count me in." Ducky said as she jumped onto her brother's back. Spike then said, "Let's go help our friend."
"Me come too." Petrie said as he started to flap his wings. They all started to move out, but noticed that Cera hadn't budged from her spot. They all looked back and Ducky asked, "Aren't you coming, Cera?"
"Gee, I don't know." Cera shrugged before saying, "Why couldn't Chomper have told us that he was going home."
"Cera, that not important right now." Petrie stated as he landed on the ground again. Spike nodded and said, "He's right. Chomper needs us to help him."
"What, so he can leave?" Cera questioned with a glare. Scales shook her head and said, "He wouldn't do that to you guys. You're his friends just as much as I am. But he needs to do this."
Cera looked into the yellow Sharptooth's eyes and could tell that she was telling the truth. With a sigh, the yellow Threehorn then said, "Fine. Let's go and help Chomper and Littlefoot."
All five friends roared in agreement before running off to help their friends.

Author's Note: I know that this is greatly different than the other versions, but I just wanted to do it differently. Up next the final battle scene to retake the Great Valley. And I'll be sure to do it all as best I can. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
