Cedar groaned. "Why is baking so hard?"
Ginger giggled. "It's not. You just have to be really careful. Double and triple check all of your measurements."
Cedar rolled her eyes. "Easy for you to say; you've never botched a recipe."
Ginger wrapped her arms around Cedar and kissed her on the cheek. "You're adorable. How about I finish baking and you can decorate them when they come out of the oven?"
Cedar nodded solemnly. "I guess."
An hour later Ginger pulled out a tray of cupcakes. The second she placed them on the table Cedar started spreading chocolate frosting on them."
"Uh, Cedar, you're supposed to wait for the cupcakes to cool before you frost them."
The frosting started to melt and slowly drip off the cupcakes. Cedar groaned and buried her face in her hands.
"I give up!"
It's ok Cedar. It's not the end of the world."
"Yes it is!" Cedar snapped. "I can't do anything right."
"What is going on with you?" Ginger asked.
"I have three F's, I bombed croquet tryouts, and I can't do my girlfriend's favorite thing!"
Ginger carefully guided her to a chair. "Sit down, and let's talk this out."
Cedar began to shiver and Ginger wrapped an arm around her.
"I really don't want to talk about the bad grades" Cedar said. "Not right now."
"Ok" Ginger said. "We don't have to talk about that. What do you want to talk about?"
"I guess croquet. I was devastated when I found out I didn't make the team. I've been trying to get more involved this year and I thought a sport would a good start. But I was the only person who tried and didn't make the team. It was humiliating."
Ginger squeezed her shoulder. "I'm sorry, my love. Take this as a learning experience. Now you know to practice so you can kill try outs next year. I'll help you."
Cedar kissed her. "This is why I love you. Now about the baking... you're so good at it, like you are at everything else. And I know baking is your favorite thing to do and I wanted to be good at it to so we could have another thing to do together."
"You are good at baking" Ginger assured her. "You just need to practice that too. But one thing you don't need to practice..."
Ginger kissed her passionately. Cedar quickly took control and slipped her tongue into Ginger's mouth.
