Kara came home with Alex that night. She didn't think she could handle going back to her own apartment after all that happened earlier.

The silence in the car was heavy on their chests as Kara leaned her head against the window, watching the city go by. When under the red kryptonite's effects, she had wanted everyone in it to worship her. Kara squeezed her eyes shut. She hated that that idea was ever in her head.

Alex, who insisted on driving despite having a broken arm, breathed out her nose and shook her head. She was in a better mental space than Kara but still couldn't shake some of the things that were said. They didn't really understand red kryptonite yet, but according to Kara, it had brought ever bad thought she had to the surface. Did Kara sometimes feel like they weren't ever real sisters?

Kara opened her eyes and glanced over at her sister. Alex's jaw was clenched and her eyes were fixed on the road. Kara knew she wasn't mad at her, but she still couldn't help but feel that maybe she was. She hadn't seen her sister look like this in a long time.

Alex cleared her throat. She knew exactly what Kara what thinking. "I'm not mad at you, Kara. ... I'm mad at myself."

Kara stepped into Alex's apartment, her sister following close behind and was the one who closed the door.

Alex flipped the lights on, then they just stood there. What could be said at this point? The damage was done and neither was ready to confront it. Eventually, Alex squeezed Kara's shoulder before she stepped around her. "I'm going to go take a shower, make yourself at home."

Kara shook her head and grabbed her good hand. "But, Alex, what about your arm?"

Alex laughed softly. "I'll be fine. I drove us here, remember? This has become a new norm for me. But if I do need help, I'll call for you. I trust you."

Kara's eyes began to water but those stubborn tears refused to fall. "I... Okay..."

"Kar." Alex leaned in and kissed her on the forehead. "We're going to be okay, I promise. We'll talk later, okay?"

Kara bit her lip and bowed her head.

Alex stroked her cheek for a moment then left the room, leaving Kara with only her thoughts. The thoughts from before that still wouldn't leave her head.

About twenty minutes later Alex found Kara curled up on the couch, facing away from her. Her heart squeezed when she thought about Kara's face when she woke up and realized what she had done. Nobody should have to go through that, nobody.

Kara lifted her head when she felt Alex sit next to her. "Are you sure you're not mad at me?"

Alex lightly touched Kara's shoulder. "I'm not, Kara, I'm really not. The things you said... They were forced out by a substance made by Maxwell Lord. If anything, I'm mad at him. And myself too, but not at you."

Kara turned to face her, revealing her bloodshot eyes and runny nose. "Don't be mad at yourself, Alex, it's not your fault."

I tried to stop you! I tried to hold you back! Becoming Supergirl was your choice but I tried to tell you otherwise!" Alex yelled as tears started running down her face. "Sure, maybe the you that was under red kryptonite twisted some of the facts, but sometimes... Sometimes I do feel a little worthless."

Kara's breath caught in her throat. "Alex..."

"My arm is broken, Kara. I'm human, and I break. And you said it yourself, you can catch bullets with your bare hands! I love you, but sometimes-" Alex smiled weakly. "-Sometimes, I get jealous and you and all you can do."

Kara broke, this time crying even harder. "I'm so sorry, Al'... I didn't... mean to come in and ruin your life, but I did... and then I-I completely blew you off and made you, you feel like all the good you've done for me meant nothing... I would understand if you hated me... I would hate me..."

Alex cupped the side of her sister's face and made her look at her. "I love you so much. Do you hear me, Kara? I love you. And no matter what, I will always be on your side." She wiped some tears from Kara's cheek. "I know... I know that some things were said tonight that maybe should have never been said. But we can get through this, I know we can. We just can't keep playing the blame game, even if it's to our own selves. We're adults." Alex smiled and Kara's expression softened. "So let's handle this like mature adults."

Kara laughed a watery laugh and nodded. "Would a mature adult ask for a hug? Because I could really use one."

Alex stood up and held out her left arm. "C'mere, I think we both could use one."

Kara wasted no time. She leaped up and threw her arms around her sister's waist, being very careful about not bumping into her broken arm.

Alex wrapped her good arm around Kara's shoulder and nuzzled into her neck. "I love you, and I am so proud of you."

Kara hid her face in her sister's shoulder and cried for what felt like the thousandth time that night. "I'm sorry..."

"Don't be." Alex ran her fingers through Kara's hair and kissed her temple. "We're going to be okay."
