A/N: The follow is a fanfiction. Naruto belongs to Sellout Jump and Uchiha Fanboy (Masashi Kishimoto). Manga blows but do buy the video games.

And we bring Part 1 of Naruto to a close, next year this story continues into Part 2. I wanted to do a three parter for the duo, but plot tie-ins forced my hand. Besides, this chapter is among the last I produced in 2020 aside from FFI and a few others. So if it does come out 2021, this is the last of it.
The Geist Within
Chapter 37: Trials of the Timeskip Part 3
Guren and Yūkimaru were sitting pretty in their new digs having easily taken over the Umi no Kumi. Yūkimaru had taken lead as the Daimyo with Guren being the 'humble assistant'. Guren realized she could not lead this time and the brat did have a good poker face. Yukimaru had a simple plan, give the people of Umi what they wanted. Better living conditions and an end to the corruption. With that given, the people did not take issue with the proposal to have the land being converted to a hidden village. Guren graciously took on the role of the Umikage.
All they had to was play their cards right.

Itachi lay comatose in a hospital bed…Sasuke's warper-enhanced genjutsu worked too well. He was a mental mess but would heal. Sasuke watched over him with his team feeling a bit guilty.
"At least he'll recover." Sai pointed.
"Truly a tragedy." Kakashi said dryly while reading his book.
Jasmine slapped that out of his hands glaring at him to show some tact before comforting Sasuke.

Guren knew how to play the hero, she had done so in her past. Acting like some kind of savior, saving small towns on the mainland and gathering more praise for it. Guren was no fool to think that Naruto had an inkling that 'Rebecca' was somewhere. However, she also knew that he was expecting her to rashly try something, but she refused to give him that pleasure of it being easy. Let the bastard think that, she thought, because nothing was going to stop her revenge.
[Three Months Pass]
Except a growing sense of accomplishment. She had managed to get the hidden village up and running. Seeing excitable children arrive for classes made her heart swell…flashing back to…old times before all of this.
No, Guren. Focus on the revenge, girl. Nothing will stop you.
[Six Months (Another Three) Pass]
Except the growing business of running a hidden village. Paperwork was truly the bane of all. As a former Elite Council, she knew it well. She did not expect the village to be doing well…really well. Smaller islands came to them for aid. As she was in the midst of approving another document, her student came in.
Another distraction…
He was a young man of average height with onyx eyes and red hair. She called it lucky that she managed to get someone with Uzumaki blood….well half-Uzumaki. It did not matter to her as Itsuki would make a fine shinobi under her tutelage.
"Guren-sama, do you have time to train me?" Itsuki asked with an excitable grin.
"Always." Guren remarked.
[A Year Pass]
Elves. She hit the jackpot and got a tribe of elves and dark elves loyal to the Land of Sea. It was ironic all considering a time ago, she would enslaved them for using them, but saving them got them nice and loyal to her. This 'kindness' felt…good to her.
Thoughts of revenge were pretty much fading as she came to a conclusion. She was making good money as a Kage. If she did go after Naruto, all she worked for would fall to shit. Yukimaru had summed it up best…revenge was like an explosion. It didn't last long. Frankly, she had no idea if she could even take him on considering all the responsibility did cut into her training time. Plus, it had her thinking of why she even wanted to go after him in the first time.
If anything, she realized he had more reason to go after her, but he did not. She sat at her office in Umikage Tower staring into a glass of whiskey with a bit of a realization.
I'm…I'm all alone. Her Zangyaku Ten? Most of them dead or would never speak to her again without trying to kill her. Her former councilmembers? All want her dead too. And she was an orphan on top of that…
And Naruto has a damn harem, plenty of friends, and power. I only have the last time.
What she did not realize was Yukimaru was having the same feelings only he was not telling Guren about. The two were barely talking…
That's it. She got up and downed that drink and called Yukimaru.
"Hey Yukimaru, I need you. No, not for work. I want you to go out with me for dinner. What…join you for dinner. Your gi-WAIT, since when do you have a girlfriend?!" Guren mused. "I mean, I guess considering we aren't as intimate as we was before…plus we had to appear professional. I'll come over…"
She hung up and came over. Coming up to his home, he could see him and the girl in question talking.
"Zelda? The Breath of the Wild version? That's…a surprise. I'm glad it was not a girl from the Kuroinu series. That'd be a mess and a half." Guren said before knocking.
All she could think during dinner was thinking that maybe things could get better.
[A Week before the end of the Timeskip]
It didn't…
(A/N: What happened?! Find out…come 2021!)
