Orphans chapter 56

With Aknamkanon
Aknamkanon scowled before he went to march up the stairs after Atemu. He had already said that they were going to talk and damn it Atemu was NOT going to get away with hiding in his room. He was going to talk to them even if Aknamkanon had to drag him down the stairs kicking and screaming!
Aknamkanon paused briefly when he felt Amara lightly rest her hand on his elbow. "Aknamkanon, I know you are frustrated but please just take a deep breath before you try and talk to Atemu." Amara pleaded.
Aknamkanon snorted, "He told us that our other son is apparently missing and that he saw no reason to inform us of that before now. I expect him to tell us what is going on. No more secrets!" Aknamkanon growled.
Amara sighed, "I'm worried about Yami to, but to be honest Aknamkanon I'm also worried about Atemu. What if Solomon is right, and that counselor from the school Pegasus, what if they are both right and Atemu is behaving this way because he was molested? Wouldn't that make you storming up there and shouting at him the least helpful thing you could do?" Amara asked.
Aknamkanon swiped his hand through his salt and pepper colored hair as his gaze once more drifted back up the stairs, "Of course I'm worried about Atemu but right now Yami is the one we need to be worrying about. And more important that anything else we need to know what Atemu knows. And the only way we'll find that information out is by making Atemu tell us." Aknamkanon declared.
Amara sighed, "Just please, try and keep your temper in check. Atemu has already had a very stressful day..."
Aknamkanon snorted, "Oh, and we haven't?"
Amara gave Aknamkanon a pointed look before continuing as if he hadn't interjected. "All I ask is that you keep that in mind while you are talking to him." Amara pleaded.
Aknamkanon snorted once more before he once again began to head up the stairs, his hand digging into his pocket as he walked, something Amara clearly noticed. "Aknamkanon what are you going to do?" Amara called out.
Aknamkanon laughed, although it was a humorless one, "I'll tell you what I'm not going to do and that is spend the next hour pounding on his locked bedroom door. I have the key to his room so I'm going to unlock his door and then he is going to come downstairs and the three of us are going to sit in the family room and talk." Aknamkanon said.
Amara sighed but said nothing further as Aknamkanon marched the rest of the way up the stairs and made his way to Atemu and Yami's bedroom. He lightly tested the lock with his hand and was not surprsied that Atemu had in fact locked the door. The door was almost always locked when either of the boys were inside. Aknamkanon guessed that it was to provide them with a sense of security but at this moment in time Aknamkanon didn't care why Atemu and Yami always locked there door.
"I'm coming in Atemu!" Aknamkanon called out as a word of warning before he inserted the key into the lock and turned before pushing the door open.
Aknamkanon came to a stop to see a shocked Atemu looking up from a gift box he was holding in his hand. Once the look of shock wore off Atemu's face his traditional scowl returned, "What the hell are you doing in here? Get OUT!" Atemu snarled.
Aknamkanon's gaze once more drifted to the box and its contents do I really want to know why my son has a freaking human heart in a gift box? Aknamkanon thought to himself. Aknamkanon decided that that would be a problem for future Aknamkanon to address. Present Aknamkanon had more than enough to be getting on with with Yami missing. So for now he decided to ignore the human heart.
"I said that we were all going to sit down and discuss what is going on. That by no means you get to hide in your room. So, you are going to come downstairs with me and we are going to talk. You are going to tell us what has been happening while we all wait to hear back from Mai. Is that understood?" Aknamkanon declared.
Atemu scowled as he dropped the gift box onto the floor. Aknamkanon doing his best to ignore the squelching sound that was made when the box hit the ground. Atemu crossed his arms stubbornly in front of his chest as he glared at Aknamkanon, "And I have nothing that I need to say to any of you. So get out!" Atemu snapped.
Aknamkanon's eyes narrowed before he strode forward, "I gave you the option of doing this the easy way Atemu. But if you are going to continue to defy me then so help me we can do this the hard way as well." Aknamkanon snapped back as he harshly grabbed a hold of Atemu's arm.
Atemu harshly tried to pull his arm out of Aknamkanon's grasp, only for Aknamkanon to tighten his grip.
"Let go of me!" Atemu snarled.
Aknamkanon shook his head, "No, I'm not going to let go of you. I said you are going to come downstairs and we are going to talk. And that will be what happens even if I have to drag you down the stairs to make you." Aknamkanon said.
Aknamkanon turned and then, true to his word began to drag Atemu out of the room. Atemu of course dug his heels into the ground as he tried to harshly pull his arm out of Aknamkanon's, now iron tight, grip. A grip that Aknamkanon vaguely knew was probably going to leave a bruise. He'd have to explain what had happened to Mai when he saw her later, hopefully with Yami in tow.
"Damn it! You're hurting me!" Atemu shouted.
Aknamkanon snorted, "And I wouldn't be if you would just cooperate for once in your goddamn life Atemu! I don't WANT to hurt you! But in this moment you aren't giving me any other options. All your mother and I want to do is talk. And you are the one who is making the choice that the only way you'll come downstairs and talk is if I drag you down the stairs." Aknamkanon said.
Aknamkanon could now hear the sound of rapid footsteps marching up the steps, no doubt Atemu's outbursts had attracted Amara's attention.
"What is going on up here?" Amara growled as she came to a stop just outside Atemu's bedroom door where Aknamkanon had just about managed to drag the struggling teen to the threshold of the room.
"I was bringing Atemu downstairs so we could all talk." Aknamkanon said.
Amara sighed as she glanced between the two before she said, "Aknamkanon, why don't you let go of Atemu and if he doesn't want to come downstairs and talk then we can just as easily talk in here." Amara suggested.
Aknamkanon sighed before he released his hold on Atemu's arm, allowing Atemu to scramble away before he sat down on his own bed. His entire posture looked defensive, like he expected Aknamkanon to beat him. And that hurt. As angry as Aknamkanon was, and no matter how angry he ever got, he would NEVER actually beat Atemu. And deep down Aknamkanon had thought Atemu knew that. But, based on how he was acting maybe Atemu wasn't as sure of that as he should have been.
Amara lightly sat down on Yami's bed as she gave Atemu a reassuring smile. Aknamkanon remained standing as he starred at Atemu, his mind continuing to race for how the hell he could fix this entire mess.
However, before anything could be said Atemu's cellphone rang.
Atemu whipped the phone out of his pocket and held it up to his ear, "Mai? Did you find him? Is he alright?" Atemu asked.
Atemu was quiet for a moment. And it was a frustrating moment as Aknamkanon almost wanted to demand that Atemu put his phone on speaker.
Atemu nodded, "Thanks for letting me know. Do you want me to meet you there or do you want me to wait here?" Atemu asked.
Aknamkanon frowned, meet her where? Just what the hell is going on? Aknamkanon thought to himself.
Atemu was quiet once more before he nodded, and in Aknamkanon's opinion Atemu appeared somewhat crestfallen. "Right, that's fine. I'll see you guys when you get here in a few hours. Thanks for everything Mai." Atemu said, his tone flat before he hung up the phone and shoved it back into his pocket.
For a moment the room was silent as both Aknamkanon and Amara waited for Atemu to say something, only he didn't. He just starred moodily down at the comforter on his bed.
"So what did Mai say?" Aknamkanon asked because he HAD to know.
Atemu sighed, "She has Yami. She's taking him to Domino General to get checked out and once he's cleared there, then she'll bring him back here. She says that Yami doesn't want us to come to the hospital so it would be for the best for everyone if we just sat tight." Atemu said.
Aknamkanon sighed as he glanced over at Amara who had lightly bit her lip. Atemu's whole defeated tone and posture were screaming of someone who needed a hug or to be comforted. But, how were they supposed to do that when Atemu had made it perfectly plain that he didn't want any contact from them?
With Honda
Honda sighed as he leaned back against his chair, his eyes drifting briefly out the window to the bright sunny day. Gods above he wished he was anywhere else right now other than sitting in class. Worse still this was normally a class that he and Joey would be screwing around in but since Joey was stuck in court today that meant he was officially on his own.
Well, not entirely on his own. Otogi was in the same class and he was currently sitting with his arms crossed on top of his desk in the middle of what appeared to be a grade one funk. Honda had NO idea what the hell Otogi's problem was but with Yugi gone for the day and Anzu far too worried about Joey and Yugi she didn't exactly have enough energy left to be focusing on motherhenning over Otogi.
Honda mentally groaned at the prospect. Yeah, because that was exactly what HE wanted to be dealing with. His moody primadonna of a friend. Seriously, Otogi could be sooo melodramatic when he wanted to be. And right now he was looking like a combination of someone who had just watched their puppy getting kicked and someone who was just plain royally pissed off.
Honda briefly glanced back up at the teacher before deciding to jot down a note and toss it in the moody asses' direction.
Dude what's your problem? Honda jotted down quickly before folding the note up and tossing it onto Otogi's desk, or more precisely on top of his head given the way he was laying on his head.
Otogi picked up the note before shooting Honda a glare as he started to unfold it. Honda rose a brow in question. Seriously, what the hell was Otogi's problem today?
Otogi read the note before he quickly jotted down a reply and tossed the note back. Honda deftly caught the note and tucked it up under his arm just as the teacher turned around to ask if anyone knew the answer to his question. Honda rose his hand as did several other students, but the teacher called on someone else.
Once the teacher was satisfied that their question was answered correctly and turned back to the board Honda carefully unfolded the note.
None of your damn business! Honda rolled his eyes and was half tempted to call it quits. He had asked so if Anzu noticed Otogi's attitude he could at least admit to having tried to get to the bottom of what was going on. But he mentally sighed, he could picture Anzu not being overly impressed with a single note being tossed and him accepting a buzz off as good enough.
So, Honda decided to try and toss one more note and then he'd be able to have a completely clear conscious (or at least avoid being lectured by Anzu) on the matter. Seriously dude what the fuck is up with you?
Honda threw the note back at Otogi and it once more collided with the side of his head. Otogi sat up, scowling once more before he unfolded the note. He turned and shot Honda another glare before he started to write. Otogi quickly folded back up the note before he tossed it back.
Honda deftly caught the note and unfolded it. Mana broke up with me this morning you asshole! There, are you satisfied?
Honda's eyebrows rose in surprise. Mana broke up with Otogi? Why the hell did she break up with him? Last he had heard things were going really good between the two. Did Mana find someone else she was interested in or was this more of a case of Otogi screwing something up? Sadly, Honda now felt duty bound to ask what had happened. Anzu for one, would be demanding a report.
I am not dealing with this right now. Honda thought to himself as he stealthly slipped his cellphone out of his pocket and quickly sent Anzu a text. Anzu we got a bit of a situation going on. Apparently Mana dumped Otogi. Can you look into this because I do not want to dig into what the fuck happened between those two.
Anzu replied back a few moments later. Shit, I was not expecting to hear that. Yeah, I'll try and talk to Mana about what happened. She's in my study hall next period. Thanks for the heads up Honda. :)
Once Honda was satisfied that Anzu was going to take over the detective work from here on out he sat back and allowed his attention to once more settle on the teacher.
With Anzu
Anzu walked into her study hall, her eyes automatically scanning the room for any sign of Mana. In Anzu's personal opinion Mana had been good for Otogi. She was down to earth enough to ground some of his more over the top tendencies but at the same time she was spontaneous enough that she wasn't going to bore him, which with Otogi that was a genuine concern since he had a bit of a shorter attention span when it came to girls. No doubt which was part of the reason that Mana was first girl he had actually ever dated seriously.
Anzu smiled slightly when her eyes landed on Mana who had taken a seat at the back of the room. Anzu slowly made her way over before setting her books down beside Mana's on the table. "Hey." Anzu greeted her with a smile.
Mana gave Anzu a tense, false smile before she turned her attention back into digging her books out of her bag. "Oh. Hey." Mana whispered.
"Everything alright?" Anzu asked, again being careful to make sure her tone stayed light and airy. No reason to let Mana know that she had any idea about the break up. Hopefully, Mana would tell her about it in her own time.
Mana was quiet for several minutes as she continued to shuffle around with different papers, "Do you know if Joey has any plans after school on Friday?" Mana asked.
Anzu rose a brow, "Ummm, I mean I have a big dance recital that night but other than that I don't think Joey has any big plans. Why?" Anzu asked.
Mana sighed, "What about Saturday?" Mana asked.
Anzu chuckled, "Why don't you tell me why you need to know Joey's schedule and then it'll help me to narrow down when he might be free." Anzu said.
Mana sighed once more, "Well, we have a unit test coming up soon in math so I was hoping to do some tutoring with him before the test." Mana said.
Anzu nodded, "Right, I had forgotten that you were supposed to tutor Joey in math. Ummm, I don't think Saturday would be good but Sunday would be better if Sunday worked okay for you." Anzu said.
Mana nodded as she jotted down a note, "Yeah, Sunday would work fine for me. I'll have to talk to Joey about what time but I can definitely do Sunday." Mana said.
Anzu nodded once more before she decided to lightly prod Mana and see if she got any information, "I was kind of surprised that you asked about Saturday. I would have thought you and Otogi would have had a big date scheduled for that day." Anzu said.
Mana frowned before she whipped open her textbook and focused all of her attention on pretending to read. "No, Otogi and me do NOT have a date this weekend." Mana said tersely.
Anzu whistled slightly under her breath, "Someone sounds upset. What did that asshole do?" Anzu asked.
Mana continued to keep her attention locked on her book and as Anzu watched her she could see what looked like tears gathering in the corner of Mana's eyes. Whatever Otogi had done he clearly did something pretty major.
Anzu lightly rested her hand on Mana's shoulder, "You can talk to me about what it is that he did. I'll even promise to kick him in the balls if it'll help." Anzu said she smiled slightly before adding, "And thanks to all my years of dancing I can promise that I have a mean kick."
Mana gave Anzu a watery smile. "Thanks for that. That's really sweet." Mana whispered.
Anzu lightly squeezed Mana's shoulder, "I'd be happy to help you Mana. But, I can't help you if I don't know what's going on." Anzu said softly.
Mana sighed, "I dumped Otogi this morning." Mana said.
Anzu nodded, "Okay. Is this a good thing, or do you regret breaking up with him?" Anzu asked.
Mana scowled, "No, I don't regret breaking up with him. He is a vile, evil, terrible human being. And I want nothing to do with him ever again." Mana snarled.
Anzu frowned before she slowly rose her hand to get the study hall teacher's attention. The teacher noticed her and Anzu asked if she and Mana could go to the bathroom. The teacher could see the tears in Mana's eyes and nodded. Anzu lightly tugged Mana out of her seat and the two made their way out of the study hall.
Anzu walked right past the bathroom before leading Mana into an empty classroom. She leaned up against the unused teachers desk as she looked at Mana, "Will you tell me what happened?" Anzu asked. She knew Otogi could be a jerk. And a major flirt. The only thing she could come up with that would explain how upset Mana was was that Otogi had cheated on her, although Anzu really hoped that wasn't the case.
"Please tell me what happened?" Anzu whispered.
Mana sighed as her eyes drifted down to the ground and she lightly scuffed the tile floor with her sneaker. "Otogi convinced me to play hookie yesterday. I knew it was a bad idea but against my better judgement I went along with it and we went over to his house and Otogi said that he wanted to watch some tv together and just chill. So, we did. Otogi went and grabbed something for me to drink and the next thing I know I'm waking up completely naked upstairs in Otogi's bedroom. And I'm sore." Mana said.
Anzu's eyes widened as she picked up what Mana was telling her, "You didn't consent." Anzu whispered.
Mana shook her head, "No. I didn't. He didn't even ask that I can remember. He was all kinds of proud that we had done it and I felt terrible. I scrambled to get dressed before I ran home. He stopped by my house and dropped off my backpack that I left in my hurry to get home. To get away from him. He admitted to purposely slipping me alcohol without my knowledge until I ended up passed out and then he carried me up the stairs, stripped me down and had sex with me." Mana said.
Anzu reached out and tugged Mana into a hug, "I cannot even begin to apologize for what that assshole did to you Mana. But I will promise you I'll definitely be kicking him in the balls. Repeatedly. As far as I'm concerned he's lost the right to even HAVE balls. How dare he do that to you!" Anzu growled.
Mana snorted, "He tried to say that I WANTED it. That I had just been playing hard to get. It was almost like he was saying that since I'd slept with him once there was no longer any reason for me to hold out on him so to speak." Mana said she paused momentarily before snarling, "I most certainly did NOT want it. God no."
Anzu nodded, "And that was your decision to make Mana. Not his." Anzu said.
Anzu could feel tears soaking into her shirt as Mana cried, "He took that decision away from me. My parents before they had died had always said that sex was only to happen between two people once they were married. And that that was why a bride wore white on her wedding day. Because she was pure. Now I'm not. I'm dirty. I was ruined and HE did that to me." Mana cried.
Anzu bit her lip, "Do you want to file a police report?" Anzu asked.
Mana shook her head, "No, the last thing I want is for my brother to find out what happened. I don't want him to know that his baby sister got turned into a whore. Courtesy of a boy that she thought might be someone she could fall in love with. Only to get stabbed in the back." Mana said.
Anzu nodded as she just continued to hold Mana as she cried. Yeah, there was no doubt in her mind that when she saw Otogi next she was going to kick his ass. It was the absolute least that he deserved for what he'd done to Mana.
With Joey
Joey leaned casually against the wall outside the school as he waited for Anzu. The final bell was due to ring any minute now and after the day he'd had he just want to see her. Yugi had been roped into helping out at the shop for the remainder of the day and since Joey had nothing better to do he'd helped unload some inventory before he'd made his way to Domino High.
Joey straightened up somewhat as he heard the lovely sound of Domino high's final bell ringing. His friends had officially been released from school. Joey watched as slowly but surely the students began to trickle out of the building and began making their way home. It was a Wednesday so there wasn't the excitement one would normally associate with a Friday mad dash for the exit but the kids were happy to be getting out here regardless.
Honda exited the building first, walking hand in hand with his girlfriend Kisara. Joey straightened up as he waved at the pair. Honda waved back before he tugged on Kisara's hand and the pair made their way over to where Joey was standing.
Honda grinned, "So, how's life going for the convicted felon?" Honda asked.
Joey rolled his eyes, "I'm not a felon ya nimrod." Joey muttered.
Honda snorted, "Could of fooled me. But seriously, what did the judge say?" Honda asked.
Joey shrugged, "That me, Yug and Sennen were sentenced ta 200 hours of community service. Starts next weekend." Joey said.
Honda whistled, "200 hours, man that blows."
Kisara rolled her eyes, "Its actually not that bad. If they do eight hours every weekend its only 25 weekends." Kisara said.
"And I'm sure dat durin da summer we'll be able ta do more den jus eight hours a weekend." Joey pointed out.
Kisara nodded, "See Honda, not nearly as bad as it could have been." Kisara said.
Honda shrugged, "Yeah. I guess." Honda replied before his gaze drifted back to the front doors to see Otogi moodily making his way outside.
Joey followed Honda's line of vision and frowned, "Wut da hell is his problem?" Joey asked.
Honda sighed, "He got dumped. Why I don't know and he didn't say." Honda said.
Joey shook his head, "I'm sure he'll tell us." Joey muttered as Otogi slowly made his way over to the group.
However before Otogi could say anything Joey's eyes landed on Anzu storming out of the building. And she looked like a woman on a mission.
Joey grinned, " Zu's comin." Joey said.
Anzu marched down the steps and headed straight for the group. She dropped her bag just as she got to the group and grabbed a hold of Otogi's jacket and whipped him around so he faced her before she harshly drove her knee up into his groin.
Otogi dropped to his knees, his hands protectively cupping himself while Joey reached forward and physically pulled Anzu away from Otogi.
"Do I wanna know what's got ya so fired up Zu?" Joey whispered.
Anzu continued to glare at Otogi, "He knows EXACTLY what that was about." Anzu growled.
Otogi frowned, "What the fuck was that for?" Otogi asked.
Anzu tried to pull herself out of Joey's grasp, no doubt intending to give Otogi another kick but Joey held firm. "Guys, I tink dat it might be a good idea if I jus take Zu home." Joey called out.
Honda nodded, "Good call. Kisara and I will take care of Otogi." Honda said.
Joey just nodded before he bodily carried Anzu out of the courtyard. "Put me down Joey!" Anzu growled.
"No can do Zu. Don't want ya gettin in trouble fer beatin up Otogi." Joey said he smirked before adding, "Me and Yug already got sentenced fer fightin don't need ya joinin us."
Anzu sighed before she stopped struggling allowing Joey to release his hold on Anzu. "He deserved that kick and then some." Anzu said.
Joey slung his arm around her shoulders as the pair made their way down the sidewalk, "I believe ya Zu. Wanna tell me why?" Joey asked.
Anzu sighed as he bit her lip before she finally shook her head. "Not my story to tell. But trust me he deserves to get his balls kicked so hard he'll never be able to use them again." Anzu said.
Joey just nodded. "As I said, I believe ya Zu. Yer 'bout as likely as Yug to attack someone dat don't deserve it." Joey said.
Anzu sighed once more as she allowed her head to rest of Joey's shoulder while they walked. "I missed you at school today." Anzu said.
Joey tightened his grip around her shoulders, "I missed ya too Zu." Joey replied he sighed before adding, "It did give me a chance ta tink bout what we can do on our date." Joey said.
Anzu rolled her eyes, "You really don't have to go over the top Joey. I already know I like you and we've been friends for years. Its not like you need to try and impress me. I like you for who you already are." Anzu said.
Joey rose a brow, "Tanks fer dat but I don't know why ya feel da need ta encourage me." Joey said.
Anzu chuckled, "I'm not encouraging you. I just wanted to remind you while you go all out in your head trying to plan this huge date. A date that you nearly got yourself killed over trying to get the money to pay for. I like the person you are and that's who I agreed to go out with. I'm not going on a date with a guy that you've decided in your mind I would want to date." Anzu said.
Joey sighed but nodded, "Got is Zu. If ya want a simple date den dat's what we'll do." Joey said.
Anzu nodded before she turned and lightly pressed a kiss to Joey's cheek. "That means a lot to me Joey. More than I think you know. I know that unlike some I actually have a decent man in my life. I'm not going to take that for granted. And I'm most certainly not going to throw away what I was lucky enough to find over materialistic things." Anzu said.
Joey nodded once more, "Den we have a plan. A nice and simple day jus da two of us." Joey said.
With Yami
Yami slowly climbed out of Mai's convertible before making his way into the Sennen mansion. He had not said a single word to Mai since her and several police officers had burst into Akunadin's hotel room and she had seen him in the utterly mortifying position of laying on his back while Akundin was fucking him for what Yami swore was the eighth time. Not that he had been counting. At that point Yami had just taken to staring up at the ceiling and trying to pretend that he was anywhere else having long since given up the struggle.
Akunadin did sort of have a point. Yami had agreed to meet with him. Had come of his own free will, even if he had chickened out on the ride over. Didn't that sort of mean that he had consented? So, did that mean that Akunadin hadn't raped him?
Yami trudged mechanically into the mansion before immediately heading up the stairs, not that he even really saw them. He just wanted to curl up in a ball and hide away from the world. Because no matter how many times Mai tried to say that everything was going to be alright. That she was going to take care of this Yami didn't believe her. Akunadin was going to truthfully say that he had agreed to meet with him. And that he had let Akunadin touch him. After all how ELSE could you explain him just laying there allowing himself to be used? If it had been rape wouldn't Yami have been kicking and screaming and fighting with everything he had? If he hadn't just been a well conditioned whore.
Yami pushed open his bedroom door and he was sadly not surprised to see that Atemu was sitting on the bed. His brother's worried red eyes had locked with his when he'd walked in.
Yami felt absolutely sick inside. Sick. And dirty. And certainly not like someone his brother would want to be around.
The sound of a throat clearing drew Yami's attention to the other people in the room. Aknamkanon was standing awkwardly over by the desk and Amara had tears in her eyes from where she had perched herself on the edge of the other bed.
Yami turned and immediately darted into the bathroom and locked the door behind him. He couldn't...he just couldn't face them. Not now.
"Mai, what happened?" Yami was able to hear Aknamkanon ask through the closed bathroom door. Yami sank down onto the cold tile floor, drawing his knees up to his chest as he felt warm tears begin to slide down his cheeks.
Would he ever be able to look Aknamkanon or Amara in the eye again after this?
Mai sighed, "I contacted the Domino City police department with the information that Atemu had provided. And once the police had obtained a search warrant we entered Akunadin's hotel room. Upon entry we found Akunadin on top of Yami in the process of sexually assaulting him. Akunadin was taken into custody and there should be a hearing to determine if he will be able to make bail tonight. I'm confident that he will be spending the time in jail until his court case which will not doubt be within the next six months." Mai said.
Yami could hear how Amara choked out a sob at Mai's words. No doubt her tears were because of the utter shame she felt because she had a dirty whore for an adopted child.
"Did Yami say anything? How did he end up in Akunadin's hotel room? He should have been at school." Aknamkanon growled. Yami bit his tongue to keep from whimpering at the sheer anger he was able to hear in his voice.
Mai shook her head, "Yami hasn't said a single word since I led him from the hotel. The police, the doctors at Domino General and myself have asked him numerous times what happened but he has completely clammed up. Refuses to say anything. He wouldn't even tell the doctors if he was in pain or not." Mai said.
"Was he injured?" Aknamkanon asked. Yami couldn't help but wonder why Atemu wasn't asking any questions. Or had it finally begun to sink in for his brother that Yami was nothing but a dirty whore? Did Atemu think himself tainted now because he'd also slept with Yami? No doubt he was disgusted by Yami's actions.
Yami bit his lip harder, hard enough to taste blood as he let out another sob. A part of him just wanted to climb into the shower and scrub his skin off, but what was the point in that? As dirty as he was scrubbing at his skin wouldn't do anything. He was still going to be dirty on the inside. There was nothing he could do to remove his own disgusting taint.
Mai sighed, "There were typical injuries one would expect to find following a sexual result. Finger shaped bruises, and internal tearing." Mai said.
Amara gasped again and Yami could also hear Aknamkanon grumbling although what he was actually saying Yami couldn't hear.
"All of you get out." Atemu said.
"We are all concerned for Yami, Atemu you can't just order all of us away. He needs us." Aknamkanon growled.
Yami could picture Atemu shaking his head before snapping right back. "No, right now Yami has locked himself in the bathroom and I can guarantee with all of you in here he won't be coming out. If all of you leave then I might be able to convince him to come out at some point. But you all need to leave so I can try and convince him to talk to me about what happened." Atemu said.
Yami snorted, that was not going to happen. He wasn't ever coming out of this bathroom again. The irony of him taking refuge in a bathroom after Akunadin using his old bathroom to torment Yami was not lost on him.
Yami heard more of Aknamkanon grumbling before he heard Amara speak up, "Aknamkanon, I know this might be hard for you but maybe Atemu is right. Maybe he will be able to convince Yami to open up about what happened when no one else can."
Mai also interjected, "I agree with Amara. Yami and Atemu have been through literal hell together. If anyone can convince Yami to talk about what happened to him then it will be Atemu." Mai said.
Yami heard once again as Aknamkanon sighed and grumbled something under his breath before he trudged out of the room, and it sounded like Amara had left the room with him. However, Yami had not heard the telltale sound of Mai's high heels leaving the room so he knew that she was still in the room. Not that he had the slightest intention of coming out.
There was a light rapping of knuckles against the bathroom door. "Hun, its me. I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be heading downstairs to talk to Mr. and Mrs. Sennen some more. I'll leave you here with your brother. If you need anything or you decide you want to talk. Or even just text you have my number. Okay? I know what happened today was terrible and it sounds like this isn't the first time this has happened recently. But I promise together we will get through this Hun." Mai said.
Yami said nothing as he just continued to quietly sob into his knees before he finally heard the sound of Mai's high heel shoes walking out of the room, leaving just him and Atemu there.
Yami heard the sound of Atemu sighing before the sound of his brother's back pressing against the opposite side of the door was heard. It sounded like Atemu had sat down on the opposite side of the door.
For quite some time Atemu said nothing, just sat there. Then finally after what seemed like an eternity he finally heard his brother speak. "I'm not going to demand that you come out or that you tell me what happened. You can choose to do either in your own time and at your own pace. I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry I didn't do more to protect you. What happened to you was once again my fault." Atemu said, his voice cracking as he spoke. "I should have rode with you this morning." Atemu choked out.
Yami leaned his head back against the door as he took a shuddering breath. "Its not your fault Até." Yami whispered.
Yami could picture his brother shaking his head as he snorted, "It is my fault Yami." Atemu insisted.
"No, its not. What happened to me was my fault Atemu. There is no one else to blame but me." Yami said.
Atemu snorted once more, "Yami, there is nothing you could possibly say that would make me believe that what that bastard did to you was your fault." Atemu said.
Yami didn't know why but Atemu's statement made him mad. It was his fault! How dare Atemu refuse to listen to the truth! Yami clambered to his feet before he unlocked the bathroom door and pulled it open, making Atemu fall backwards so that he was briefly looking up at Yami from the ground before he slowly stood up as well.
"It was my fault Atè!" Yami growled.
Atemu slowly, held open his arms before he gently pulled Yami into a hug. The feeling of his brothers arms wrapping around him once again got the tears flowing freely down Yami's face. He felt safe with his brother. He always had.
Yami's hands lightly clung to his brother's shirt as he cried. Atemu's hands gently rubbing his back in an effort to sooth him. Atemu didn't bother lying by saying something stupid like he'd be okay. He just gently held Yami close and lightly rubbed his back.
"It was all my fault Atè." Yami whispered once again. "Its all my fault because I am nothing but a dirty, disgusting whore." Yami cried.
"No, you aren't Yami." Atemu soothed.
"Yes Atè, yes I am. What else could you call me when I agreed to meet Akunadin today. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into but I still agreed to meet him." Yami said.
Atemu never paused the soothing strokes on Yami's back but he was silent for several moments while he digested what Yami had said. Yami for his part was mentally bracing for the moment when Atemu shoved him away in disgust. It should be coming any second now.
"And why did you go to meet him? What was the reason? And don't tell me just because you are a whore. We both know that isn't true no matter how much it might feel like it is right now. You know you can tell me anything Yami. And I won't tell a soul." Atemu whispered.
Yami sighed. But slowly nodded his head against his brother's check. Atemu carefully guided them over so they were both sitting on the edge of his bed. He hadn't let go of Yami yet which Yami considered a good thing since that meant that once he told Atemu the whole story he wouldn't have to see the look on his brother's face.
"Do you remember when the driver gave me the note I dropped the other day?" Yami asked.
Atemu nodded, "Yes, I remember. That was right before I had to go shopping with Mrs. Sennen." Atemu said.
Yami sighed but nodded, "I didn't drop it. The note was actually a message from Akunadin telling me that he knew about your court date and that you weren't going to be around. And that he expected me to come and meet him today. He...he said that if I didn't agree that he would hurt you again. Like what had happened in the warehouse, only it would be worse this time. So...I called him...and I agreed to meet him." Yami whispered before he became overcome by sobs.
Atemu said nothing, just held Yami as he continued to cry.
With Atemu
Atemu sighed as he starred up at the ceiling. Yami had finally cried himself to sleep still clinging tightly to him almost an hour ago. And Atemu wasn't going to so much as move, no matter how uncomfortable he was laying on top of his blankets still wearing the suit and tie he'd worn to the courthouse earlier today. With everything that had been going on today Atemu hadn't even bothered to change his clothes.
Atemu wasn't anticipating getting any sleep tonight anyway. His mind still replaying everything that Yami had told him over the last few hours. The entire gruesome story about how he had ended up in that hotel room. How guilty he felt because he'd changed his mind and tried to run only to be dragged in literally kicking and screaming by that damn driver. The insane thought that because Yami had 'agreed' to this whole thing didn't make what had happened rape.
Atemu sighed, it was a lot to mentally unpack. And if he was feeling this worked up about what had happened then Atemu didn't even want to think about how terrible Yami must be feeling.
Atemu saw on his nightstand his phone briefly light up. Atemu sighed before he carefully reached over and grabbed his phone, swiping to unlock it. It was a text message from Mai, which included a news article.
Don't worry Atemu. I am on this. Your brother will be safe. I promise. Was the message. Atemu frowned before he clicked on the included news article, his frown deepening as he read the headline.
Akunadin Kesir out on bail after being arrested on the charge of sexual assault.
Atemu quickly sent Mai back a text. You had better be. He didn't want to wake Yami up by getting even more pissed reading the whole article, so he backed out of it just fuming.
But wasn't that the way his and Yami's luck seemed to work out? Something starts to seem like things might be turning in their favor and then wham something like this happens. That seemed to have been the story of their entire lives.
Atemu's eyes drifted away from glaring at his phone before landing on the macabre gift he'd been left last night, although whether it was truly a sick gift and not a threat Atemu still didn't know.
Atemu sighed before he carefully slipped off the bed.
Yami immediately stirred. Atemu pressed a kiss to his brother's forehead, "I'll be right back. I just need to go to the bathroom." Atemu whispered.
Yami sighed but did settle back into sleep.
Atemu walked over and scooped up the gift before heading into the bathroom and closing the door and flicking on the light, pulling out the note that had been left with the gift.
His eyes locked on the number listed at the bottom of the message.
Give me a call beloved and I will be your worst nightmare.
-Your thief in the night
215-216-2178
Atemu sighed before he dialed the number in his phone. I can't believe that I'm doing this. Atemu thought to himself as he held the phone to his ear.
The phone rang twice before a gruff voice Atemu was beginning to recognize from two prior meetings as the supposed thief in the night. "Hello?"
Atemu sighed, "Hello thief. I got your note and saw that you wanted me to call you." Atemu said.
The thief cackled on the other line, "I hope you liked my gift Atemu." The thief purred. Atemu shuddered at the creepy sound but forced himself to put that out of his mind.
"Actually I was hoping that you and I could come to some sort of an arrangement. More of a quid pro quo." Atemu said.
"Oh, and what sort of a quid pro quo did you have in mind?" The thief asked.
"The heart was nice, if not a little bit strange. And lets be realistic you just stole it from an anatomy lab since it reeks of formaldehyde. I was wondering if you had the balls to get a hold of something a bit more fresh." Atemu said.
"I might be up to the challenge. But, I ask once more. What precisely did you have in mind?" The thief asked.
"I want you to make someone pay. There is a sick bastard who has hurt someone I care about for the last time. I want you to chop off his fucking dick and bring it to me so I can burn the damn thing. You do that and I'll give you whatever you fucking what." Atemu growled.
"Anything I want?" The thief asked.
Atemu nodded, not that the thief could see, "Yes, anything. You bring me Akunadin Kesir's dick and proof that it is actually his dick and you can name your price." Atemu said.
The thief cackled once more, "You have yourself a deal beloved. Just give me a few days in order to acquire your unique gift and we can discuss payment upon delivery." The thief said.
Atemu nodded again, "That sounds good to me. We will discuss this more once you come to me with gift in hand." Atemu said.
"Until then beloved." The thief said before hanging up the phone.
Atemu sighed before he saved the number in his contacts and shoved his phone back into his pocket and headed back out of the bathroom. He quickly changed into some comfortable night clothes before crawling back into bed with Yami, who curled right back up in his arms.
Deep down Atemu knew making that call was wrong. But if this unnamed thief was able to make it so Akunadin could never touch his brother again then Atemu was more than willing to live with the consequences of that. And if the thief couldn't deliver than Atemu never had to hear from him again.
And if Atemu had ever heard of a win-win situation then in his mind, this more than qualified.
A/N: Yes, I know this was a rough chapter to read (it was even rougher to write and that was even with me consciously not writing the scene were Mai burst into the room to rescue Yami since I did not relish having to write another rape scene.) As for Atemu at the end yes I know him calling Akefia was a bit insane but I think we can all agree that Atemu isn't exactly thinking clearly at this point. And that combined with Akunadin making bail Atemu's sole focus is finding a way to protect Yami. As always please read and review. I look forward to hearing what you guys thought of this chapter.
