zejaykay: I will try.
Bluemystic012: Yeah, the mythological world is going to be more involved from here on out. Especially in the next one.
Yup, this story is going to end soon. I never thought it would be this fast. Then again, I upload almost everyday. So I guess that's a factor.
Song of the Chapter: Chaos King by Toby Fox
I own nothing.
Harry
Harry was feeling great. For once in his life, he had some luck. He started dating Ginny, they won the cup, he had just had a good meal, and he and Percy were going to help Dumbledore destroy a Horcrux.
Actually, that last one scared him a bit, but he didn't worry about it too much. Until Dumbledore told them they were going.
"I feel like the luck potion would be useful," Percy told him, pulling out his bottle.
"I still feel like Death Eaters are going to come," Harry said. Percy was silent for a moment before he said "How about we split the luck potion between me and you, and you give yours to the others."
Harry nodded. It was a good plan. They handed his luck potion to the others and they split Percy's. There was still some left, and Percy suggested they give it to Dumbledore. Harry may have been annoyed with Dumbledore for defending Snape, who he had learned told Voldemort the prophecy, but he agreed.
But he refused.
"While I am touched, I believe you both should have the rest," he told them with a smile.
"But - " Percy started, but Dumbledore raised his hand. "Please do it."
Percy looked at the potion in his hands and forced Harry's mouth open, dropping the last of it down his throat. "What'd you do that for?" Harry asked him.
"I knew you'd probably want me to do it."
He wasn't wrong.
"Now," Dumbledore said, "I believe you both can Apparate?"
They nodded. "But I haven't passed my test, sir," Harry said. Dumbledore nodded. "Yes, that is true. I will assist you."
They walked out of the castle, Harry under his cloak and Percy with his cap on. Once they were far enough, Harry grabbed Dumbledore's arm and they Apparated.
When they landed, Harry breathed in salt and heard the sound of waves crashing against stone. He looked around and saw that they were standing on a part of a large chunk of stone. He walked a few steps forward, taking in his surroundings when he felt something grab the hood on his robe. It was Percy.
"I think it's best to wait one hour after eating before swimming," Percy said with a smirk. Harry looked down and saw what was causing the sound of the waves. The sea was at the bottom, stretching out before them. Harry nodded and they followed Dumbledore up the rock. They stopped at a large gap full of water, standing between them and the entrance of a large cave.
"Now," Dumbledore said, "will you both listen to what I say?"
They nodded. "If I tell you to hide, will you do so?"
They nodded a second time. "If I tell you to flee, will you?"
"Yes sir," Harry said.
"If I tell you to run and save yourselves, will you?"
The two boys paused at this. Harry nodded and Percy hesitated before saying "Yes."
Dumbledore looked at Percy expectantly, and Percy sighed in annoyance. "On the River Styx."
Thunder boomed in the clouds above, and Percy was silent. "Let us go," Dumbledore said.
"How?" Harry asked. Dumbledore smiled and turned to Percy. "Will you do the honors?"
Percy nodded and said "Jump."
Harry stared at him. "Just do it," he said. The three jumped into the cold waters. It wasn't an incredibly far distance from the point where they jumped to the bottom into the water, but Harry felt that it might still hurt.
The impact he was waiting for didn't come. Instead he felt light and surprisingly dry. He opened his eyes. He was underneath the water, but he wasn't wet. He suspected that it had to do with Percy's heritage. Suddenly, a tendril of water picked he and Dumbledore up, placing them gently at the entrance to the cave. It formed a hand and lightly patted them on the head. Dumbledore smiled and they entered the cave.
They stood in silence for a couple of moments, Dumbledore looking for something. Then it seemed like he found it. "Ah, surely not. How crude."
"What is it?" Percy asked.
"It seems as though it requires some sort of payment. Blood if I'm not mistaken."
"Blood?" Harry asked incredulously.
"I said it was crude," Dumbledore said, pulling a knife from his robes.
"Wait!" Harry and Percy said in unison. Dumbledore smiled at them. "You both are kind, but I believe your blood is more valuable than mine."
He cut himself, the blood falling onto the rock, an entrance opening up as it did. They walked through, and saw a large pool of water, a small piece of land in the middle, where Harry could make out a small basin and thought that was where the Horcrux was. He looked over at Percy, and saw that he had a look of fear on his face. Regardless, he stretched out his hand, and suddenly gasped in pain.
"Percy?" Dumbledore said, concerned.
"The water," Percy said shakily. Dumbledore nodded. "Yes, this is not your normal water. I assume you can now guess that a summoning charm wouldn't work." They nodded and Dumbledore went over to a section and held his hand out.
"What're you doing?" Harry asked.
"There is something right here," Dumbledore said. Percy went over and held his hand out as well.
"Percy," Dumbledore said.
"I'm fine," he said, "I came here to help." Dumbledore nodded and withdrew his hand. Percy's hand shook as he held it out, but a boat came up. "I don't think that'll hold us all."
"This boat doesn't measure weight," Dumbledore said. "Voldemort would not care about that. He would care about the magical power in the boat."
Percy stared at the boat. "I'm a demigod."
Dumbledore nodded and said "Well, I have two theories. The first is that because you aren't technically fully human, it would not measure your abilities properly and it will be safe. The second is that it isn't and you could use the water." Dumbledore made it clear that the second option was not the preferred one.
Percy stared out into the water with fear and said "Some things aren't meant to be controlled," he said firmly. Dumbledore nodded. "I agree." They all climbed into the boat and it started moving on it's own. Luckily, Dumbledore's first theory was correct and Percy was able to travel safely in the boat. Harry suspected he didn't exactly count seeing as though he wasn't even of age yet. Suddenly, Percy gasped. "What is it?" Harry asked him. Percy looked around the cavern and into the water. "There's something in the water … "
Dumbledore nodded as if he had expected this, and they arrived at the shore. They got out of the boat and Harry saw two objects. The first was a basin with Slytherin's locket inside it. The second was a goblet full of potion. Dumbledore examined the two and said "I can only conclude that this potion is supposed to be drunk."
"No!" Harry and Percy said in unison.
"You will feed me this potion, no matter how much I dislike it, and no matter if I say no, do you both understand?"
Harry shook his head, but Percy's hands went to the potion and started having Dumbledore drink it.
"Percy, no!" Harry said, trying to take the goblet from his hands, but Percy held onto the cup and kept going. "I have to, Harry," Percy said, clearly disgusted with his actions, "I swore on the River Styx."
Harry remembered what Percy said about the River Styx at his apartment over the winter break. If he didn't do it, he'd die.
Suddenly, Dumbledore said " … Don't … please stop."
Percy kept going and Dumbledore kept pleading for him to stop. He kept going and Dumbledore shouted "KILL ME!!!"
But Percy kept going until the goblet was empty. Dumbledore suddenly went unconscious, and Harry noticed that they could get the Horcrux now. Percy grabbed the locket and held his hand over Dumbledore, not in physical pain, but mental, looking at his hand in horror as it pulled the potion from Dumbledore's body. Dumbledore gasped when it was all out and croaked "Water." Harry understood and said "Aguamenti!"
No water came from his wand.
"It won't work, Harry," Percy said. Harry nodded. Aguamenti didn't work. Of course it didn't. Suddenly, a hand shot from the water, grabbing onto the edge of the piece of land they were on. More of the slimy, bony hands came, their bodies following. Harry stared in horror as he looked into eyes that couldn't see his.
"Inferi," Percy whispered, looking at them with the horror he did his hand when using his power in the cave. Suddenly, he looked above them, and though there was nothing there, he fell to the ground and curled up into a ball. "Please, leave me alone," he whispered. Harry looked around. It was just him. Then he remembered the pen. He pulled it out and pulled it out, slashing at the Inferi. It worked, and he was able to hold them off, gripping the locket Percy had dropped in his hand. He wasn't going to lose it after what they had done to get it.
All of a sudden, fire began to swirl around them. It was Dumbledore. It repelled the Inferi back into the water, and Percy looked around, like a child who was lost.
"Now!" Dumbledore said, ushering them back into the boat. The Inferi were gaining on them, and Percy held his hand out behind them, screaming in pain as he used the water to push them out. He stopped after a couple of moments, and it seemed like his arm was red, he closed his eyes, sweat covering his body. The entire cavern started to rumble and it started to collapse. They got out of the boat quickly, Percy pulled the sword from Harry and slashed at his arm for the blood payment. His blood looked shiny, and like someone had put golden glitter in it. It fell onto the rock and they fled the cavern that collapsed behind them. Now that they were out of the darkness of the cave, Harry saw that Percy's arm wasn't just red and that he was drenched in sweat, but also that his body seemed to have steam coming from it. He was helping Dumbledore, who could barely stand.
"We should get back," Percy said. Harry nodded, and they Apparated to Hogsmeade.
Now this is a chapter that I am proud of. Why did I skip two chapters? Do you really want two chapters that are practically just carbon copies of the ones from the book? I don't. It's a waste of my time that I need to use efficiently.
