I don't own Sailor Moon, nor did I create it. Naoko Takeuchi created Sailor Moon, this is just my alternate universe version, a sort of "If I created Sailor Moon" story...

CHAPTER 29: A TRIP TO TOMORROW

JUNE 26, 1987

As Rubeus was destroyed, Golden Hawk retrieved Chibi-Usa from Hammerspace. "Where's Rubeus?" Chibi-Usa asked.

"Gone with the wind," Golden Hawk said. "Guess I didn't need these anyways," he said, removing the sack from a pouch in his belt.

"What was that?" Sailor Moon asked.

"The Rainbow Crystals." Golden Hawk said. "At least, that's what I wanted Rubeus to think. That was my plan B, in case he killed me, he'd take them from me," he added, removing the Red Crystal from the sack. He tossed the Crystal in the air, and it exploded. "Not a large explosion," Golden Hawk said. "But combine the seven of them, and you have an explosion just big enough and powerful enough to send Rubeus on a one-way trip to Hell. Call it my revenge from beyond the grave, so to speak."

"So you had no intention of giving him the Crystals," Chibi-Usa said.

"The John I know would never give the real Crystals over to the bad guy," Sailor Moon said.

"I know," John said.

"Now as for you," Sailor Moon said to Chibi-Usa. "Let's see what we can do about your mother."

"I'm not exactly from around here," Chibi-Usa said.

"I kind of figured that out," Sailor Moon said.

"Actually," Chibi-Usa said, "I'm not exactly from now, either. What year is it, anyways?"

"It's 1987," Sailor Mars said.

"Okay," Chibi-Usa said, "we're a few years before I'm even born. Anyways, we need to go back to my time, and see if we can awaken my mother from eternal sleep."

"So how are we going to get there?" Sailor Venus asked.

"The Key of Time," Chibi-Usa said, holding the key that was hanging from a chain around her neck. There's just one thing, though. I can only take five of you with me."

"So how do we decide who stays and who goes?" Sailor Moon asked.

"You two," Chibi-Usa said, pointing at Golden Hawk and Sailor Earth. "You're staying here."

"I kind of figured I wasn't going," Sailor Earth said, transforming back to Molly Hogan. "On account of me being new and all."

"But what about Golden Hawk?" Sailor Venus asked.

"Yeah," Sailor Moon said. "He's pulled our fat out of the fire more than a few times."

"I can only take those with Sailor Soldier powers," Chibi-Usa said. "His powers come from the dimension he hid me from Rubeus in.

"In that case," Golden Hawk said, retrieving the real Rainbow Crystals from Hammerspace and giving them to Sailor Moon, "you might need these."

"Everyone who's coming with me," Chibi-Usa said, "get in close."

"Okay," Sailor Jupiter said. She, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Moon, and Sailor Venus got close to Chibi-Usa.

"Key of Time," Chibi-Usa said, removing the key from the chain around her neck and holding it up, "take us home."

A dark hole opened up in the sky, and a beam of purple light came down out of it, around Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, and Chibi-Usa. The beam soon retracted, the hole closed up, and they were gone.

The next thing anyone knew, they were in what could best be described as Placentia, but how people in the late 1950s would envision the year 2000. "Too bad John couldn't come," Sailor Moon said. "He would have loved to see this. Googie as far as the eye can see."

"I know what you mean," Sailor Jupiter said. "It looks like we stepped into a live-action episode of The Jetsons."

"Excuse me," Sailor Mercury said, "but what exactly is Googie, anyways?"

"Retrofuturistic architecture," Sailor Mars said. "Remember during spring break, when we went to the bowling alley in La Habra?"

"Oh yeah," Sailor Mercury said. "It did remind me a little of how someone in the 50s or early 60s would envision the future."

"John's been into it as long as I can remember," Sailor Moon said.

"Who's this John person you're talking about?" Chibi-Usa asked.

"Golden Hawk," Sailor Venus said. "His real name's John."

"Okay," Chibi-Usa said. "The only name he ever gave me was Golden Hawk. Anyways, welcome to Silver Millennium."

"There's something wrong here," Sailor Jupiter said. "I mean, all the retrofuturistic architecture looks cool and all, but it looks like the 1950s version of the slum of the future."

"That was Rubeus's doing," Chibi-Usa said. "When he put my mother in eternal sleep, Silver Millennium fell into disrepair. That's what I wanted the Silver Crystal for, to destroy Rubeus, revive my mother, and restore the Silver Millennium."

As they walked through the Placentia of the future, they came across a crystal palace located near where El Dorado High stood. In fact, El Dorado High stood inside the palace courtyard, looking exactly as it looked in 1987, but also as new as the day it opened back in 1966. "Glad to see some things never change," Sailor Moon said.

"My mother had many pleasant memories of her years as a student at El Dorado," Chibi-Usa said. "She built the Crystal Palace so she could keep the campus within the courtyard."

"We all had a few good memories here," Sailor Mars said.

As the group walked through the courtyard, they were approached by a man wearing a black turtleneck , gold armored chestplate with shoulder armor, black fingerless gloves with yellow wristbands, gold web belt with several pouches and yellow cargo pants tucked into mid-calf high black combat boots, as well as a gold helmet similar to the one worn by Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back. "Gōrudenhōku," Chibi-Usa said to the man.

"Welcome home, Small Lady," Gōrudenhōku said. "I see you brought friends. I just hope they're enough."

"So do I," Chibi-Usa said. "Anyways, this is Gōrudenhōku, my mother's Captain of the Guard."

"I can't put my finger on it," Sailor Mercury said, "but there's something familiar about Gōrudenhōku."

"I agree," Sailor Venus said.

"I know him from somewhere," Sailor Mars said.

"But where?" Sailor Jupiter said.

"Is that a way to treat an old friend?" Gōrudenhōku said, removing his helmet, revealing himself to be John McCoy, but a few years older. He still had long hair, however, he now had his hair slicked back and worn in a ponytail, and also had a neatly trimmed mustache and goatee.

"John?" Sailor Moon said. "Is that really you?"

"Who else would I be?" John asked. "Robert Smith?"

"This place looks like it could be amazing,"

"Ever since Rubeus put the Queen in eternal sleep," John said, "the Silver Millennium has gone into decay. But hopefully with you here, we can revive her, and she will restore the Silver Millennium."

"I hope so," Chibi-Usa said.

"Tell you what," John said. "I still need to do my rounds. Chibi-Usa, why don't you go take the girls to where Queen Serenity is."

"Okay," Chibi-Usa said. "Follow me," he said to the girls.

Chibi-Usa led the girls to a chamber in the middle of the palace. In the middle of the chamber, was a block of solid clear crystal, which appeared to be like glass. Encased within the block was Neo Queen Serenity. She was wearing a white strapless dress with ankle length skirt, and was barefoot. She had a French manicure, while her toenails were painted with sheer pink nail polish. The Sailor Soldiers couldn't put their fingers on it, but they noticed something familiar about her. "So how do we get her out of there?" Sailor Moon asked.

"I trust you have the Rainbow Crystals," came a voice from out of nowhere.

"Yes," Sailor Moon said, placing the Crystals on the block of crystal.

"The Rainbow Crystals are the key to freeing the Queen from eternal sleep," the voice said. "I'm sorry I can't be there with you, but I can assure you I am a friend."

"Father," Chibi-Usa said. "Why can't you be here right now?"

"I have duties elsewhere," the voice said. "Anyways, to awaken the Queen, place the Rainbow Crystals on the crystal in which the Queen is imrprisoned, aim your Moon Staff at it, and say Moon Restoration."

"Here goes nothing," Sailor Moon said, as she arranged the Rainbow Crystals on the crystal in which Neo Queen Serenity was imprisoned. Pointing her Moon Staff at the Crystals, she yelled out "Moon Restoration."

"It didn't work," Sailor Venus said, sadly.

"I'm sorry, mother," Chibi-Usa said, as she began crying.

"It's not your fault," John said, as he returned to the chamber, and placed a comforting hand on Chibi-Usa's shoulder.

"I just wish there was something more I could have done," Chibi-Usa said, hugging John, and beginning to cry. As the first tear ran down her cheek, the Rainbow Crystals were drawn to it. As the Crystals combined with Chibi-Usa's tear, they formed a pure white crystal.

"Is that what I think it is?" Sailor Moon asked.

"It sure is," John said. "The Silver Crystal."

At that moment, Sailor Moon knew what she had to do. She took the Silver Crystal, and placed it at the end of her Moon Staff. The Silver Crystal floated inside the crescent moon, and began to glow white. "Moon Restoration!" she said, pointing the Moon Staff at the crystal block in which Neo Queen Serenity was imprisoned. The Moon Staff shot a beam of pure white light at the crystal block, causing it to disappear. As it disappeared, Neo Queen Serenity awoke. She stood up, and cupped her hands in front of her. As she did, a second Silver Crystal formed in her cupped hands. She raised her hands above her head, and the Silver Crystal she held floated between her hands, as she flew up, into the sky, and a wave of pure white energy, the power of good, washed over the entire Silver Millennium. As it did, the buildings once again began bustling with life, barren wastelands became gardens more beautiful than the Garden of Eden, and a general feeling of good spread over the land. As it did, she descended back to he ground. "Thank you," Neo Queen Serenity said.

"Mother!" Chibi-Usa said, hugging her.

"You did good," Neo Queen Serenity said. "If anyone could save the day, it is my younger self and her friends."

"Your younger self?" Sailor Moon asked.

"Yes," Neo Queen Serenity said. "Usagi Tsukino, I am the woman you will grow up to be."

"Wait a second," Sailor Moon said. "You mean to tell me, I'm you? And Chibi-Usa is my...?"

"Your future daughter," Chibi-Usa said.

"I can sense you want to go home," Neo Queen Serenity said.

"We enjoy it here," Sailor Mercury said. "But we do miss our time."

"We're just not cut out for this time period," Sailor Mars said, "yet."

"But we will be," Sailor Jupiter said, "when we get older."

"But for now," Sailor Venus said, "we want to go back to 1987."

"Than it shall be done," Neo Queen Serenity said, as Chibi-Usa gave her the Key of Time. "Key of time, send my new friends back to when they came from."

As the Sailor Soldiers returned to 1987, a pair of gray kittens, both wearing bells around their necks, identical save for the fact one had pink eyes and a pink collar, the other with blue eyes and a blue collar, entered the chamber, the one with blue eyes rubbing against Neo Queen Serenity's ankle. "You look a little disappointed, Apollo," she said.

"I wanted to meet your younger selves," Apollo said, in a little boy's voice. Especially Gōrudenhōku."

"Gōrudenhōku wasn't with them," Neo Queen Serenity said. "It was just my younger self, along with Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus."

"As I recall," Gōrudenhōku said, "when the girls were here, I was back in 1987 dealing with a hostage crisis at a Mickey Dee's in Buena Park."

"But if you do want to meet Gōrudenhōku when he was younger," Neo Queen Serenity said, "I can arrange it. I intended to send both you and your sister to the past anyways."

"Diana and I are going back?" Apollo asked.

"Just Apollo for now," Luna said, as she entered the chamber.

"What about me?" Diana, the female kitten, asked.

"You'll be going along with Small Lady," Luna said.

"She will be going back to train as the new Sailor Moon," Neo Queen Serenity said, "but she's not ready to go back yet."

"But you're going to be Golden Hawk's guardian cat," Luna said.

"What do you think I've been training you for?" Gōrudenhōku said.

"When you get to 1987," Neo Queen Serenity said, "you'll make first contact with your father, he'll take you to John."

"But how will I know my father?" Apollo asked.

"He'll look exactly like he does now," Luna said. "except he'll be just slightly younger. You know, a white cat with green eyes and a crescent moon on his forehead, and he speaks."

"His voice sounds exactly like the voice of the Green Ranger from Power Rangers Zeo," Gōrudenhōku said.

Meanwhile, back in 1987, Molly was sitting on the blanket, waiting for John, when the rest of the Sailor Soldiers returned from the future. Actually, they had returned in their civilian identities. "Where did John go?" Usagi Tsukino asked.

"I'm back," John said.

"What happened?" Molly asked.

"Where were you, anyways?" Mina asked.

"Some guys with assault weapons tried to knock over the Mickey Dee's by Knott's Berry Farm," John said. Managed to defuse the situation without any shots fired, although I think I hit one guy so hard he shit himself."

"You didn't kill him, did you?" Usagi asked.

"Nah," John said. "Just gave him a bit of the old Rock-a-bye-Baby. By my calculations, he should be regaining consciousness any minute now."
