Dark Kingdom 38
The long black hair glistened in the cold neon light.
Her body writhed with need, and throaty pleasurable sounds came out of her mouth. Her eyes were closed, she seemed to be enjoying the slow thrusts of her lover, who slipped his hands under the skirt of her school uniform.
Usagi knew what his fingers would do there, what they would do.
Her core seemed to contract when she thought about it.
The black-haired man licked his playmate's neck, who moaned loudly. She opened her eyes, fixed Usagi. Her look was cold, calculating, and utterly deadly.
The girl raised her arms, cupped Mamoru's head. The corners of her mouth twisted into a grin.
Usagi was startled.
No.
The black-haired woman licked her lips.
No!
Usagi heard a faint crack.
"No!!!!"
She opened her eyes.
The bright sunlight blinded painfully.
That dream again.
And each time it looked more real. She smelled the sharp cleaning agent, felt the need for Mamoru, the jealousy and could literally grasp her fear. Every time.
The dream always ended the same way. With his death, which she couldn't prevent because she was frozen, could only watch.
She threw the blanket aside, put her bare feet on the soft, cozy rug and slowly sipped into the bathroom.
She saved herself a look in the mirror. She knew her eyes were like golf balls again. After bad dreams it had become normal. A little ice-cold water and her favorite perfume counteracted this, at least to some extent.
"Usagi, are you finally awake?", she heard her mother's voice when she had just slipped into a comfortable shirt and jeans.
"Yes.", Usagi answered, slightly annoyed, and yawned into the kitchen, which was already sizzling and cooking.
Normally she would have taken a look at each of the pots now and ideally tried everything. But she had lost her appetite in the past few days.
"It's almost noon." , her mother reprimanded her. "I really wonder when you want to grow up."
Oh no. Please stop talking about her age and demeanor now. Since she could really have stayed under her cozy blanket and continued moping.
"I seriously wonder how you got to know a boy since you spend most of your time in bed or detention."
And another indirect charge. Usagi groaned inwardly and wanted her pillow back more and more.
"And?", her mother looked at her impatiently. "How did you get to know him now?"
"In the park.", she replied with a stutter. "He lives nearby."
"The rents are expensive there.", her mother thoughtfully held a wooden spoon to her chin before pointing at Bunny with it. "Hold him tight. With your grades you will probably never get a well-paying job anyway."
"Thank you mom."
Her mother turned back to her pots and stirred them absent-mindedly, staring out the window while Usagi crept to the fridge and got a yogurt. She must have had a little something in her stomach.
"What's going on?" , she asked when she finally discovered her mother.
"It's strange. This car has been parked on our street a lot lately."
"Which do you mean?", she followed her gaze.
"The black one. If I didn't know better, I would say we are being shadowed."
Usagi stopped short. Now that her mother made her aware of this, she also had the feeling that she had already noticed the car in her immediate vicinity several times. But that could also be pure coincidence. There were millions of cars in Tokyo, and most of them were like peas in two peas.
"Maybe it's the yakuza."
Her mother laughed.
"They drive other brands.", Usagi replied reflexively, then almost bit her tongue. "I mean ...", she imperceptibly cleared her throat. "How do you get on the yakuza?"
Her mother frowned at her. An uncomfortable silence fell and Usagi felt more and more uncomfortable in the small room.
"Probably someone is just visiting one of our neighbors.", Usagi laughed exaggeratedly and wanted to tick off this topic once and for all, and put a large spoon of her yogurt in her mouth as proof.
"Yes, probably." , her mother's voice was as always, but her gaze was no longer just thoughtful. There was something else that made Usagi's stomach contract. And that wasn't because of the ice-cold yogurt.
"Are you taking this to your father in the editorial office? He has to work late today."
She held two plastic cans in front of her nose.
Usagi just nodded silently.
"But don't eat yourself.", her mother winked at her.
"I'll try.", she answered flatly.
Usagi was insecure. She was not used to this reaction from her mother. And then this sudden change to her familiar nature. What was that supposed to mean? Was everyone going crazy now? Or did it only seem that way because she was completely confused herself?
"Will you come back afterwards?", her mother suddenly asked.
"Sure. Why not?"
"It's Saturday and you have a boyfriend. Which young girl would rather be left with her parched parents on the couch? ", she explained. "I just want to know if I have to come up with an excuse for your father."
Usagi was amazed and also a bit shocked: "You didn't tell him?"
"I want to slowly introduce him to the fact that his little princess has found her knight. You know yourself how he can be sometimes."
She nodded: "Thank you, mom." Even if her description sounded rather silly, she was right. Slowly but surely she grew up. Even if that was accompanied by a lot of fear and thousands of questions. But who could have answered her?
"Now hurry up before everything is cold!", her mother pushed her into the hallway and said goodbye to her with the obligatory kiss on the cheek when Usagi left the house.
On the short walk through the front yard, she watched the strange black car out of the corner of her eye.
Nothing moved inside and no engine was started.
She was probably worrying too much. And she definitely didn't need any more worries now.
