Chapter 35
Let's Get Our Licenses
"It's finally here." Darby tried to process his whole highschool career but it still didn't register to him. He felt light-headed and more so nervous."I'm going to have some trouble here."
"Why do you say that?" Jiro asked him from his side.
He groaned, ruffling his golden hair."My Quirk isn't exactly optimal. Unless I go Neko Mode, I'm very limited to what I can do on my own. Pretty lame, if you ask me."
"Still talking like that?" She quirked her brow as she punched his arm."Come on, chin up. You've been training like crazy and dominated that power. You made it your own with your efforts. Kachidoki said that to you too, right? If you ask me, if I person I fought to the death with compliments my Quirk, then that would give me the idea that I'm pretty awesome."
"That's...well, when you put it like that I guess it sounds pretty silly..." He chuckled, rubbing his neck sheepishly. He spotted Mineta out of the corner of his eyes, sulking."Hey, Mineta-san. You doing all right?"
"What do you think, man?" He slumped his shoulders."The pressure is too much. What if I can't get my license."
"Not with that attitude." Darby narrowed his eyes."If you go in thinking like that, you won't perform at your best."
"Nishikawi is right." Aizawa bent down to be at Mineta's level."It's not a matter of whether you can or not. It's a matter whether you will or not."
"Right! I sure got this!" He suddenly exclaimed. Whether he was going with what Aizawa-sensei said or out of his own will, Darby couldn't tell.
Their teacher stood up, glancing at his students."If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will hatch into chicks. You'll be semi-pros. I expect your best."
"Alright! I can't wait to be a heroic chicken!" Kaminari grinned, sounding totally un-cool.
"Let's pull up the usual, you guys!" Kirishima rose his fist, unaware of the person walking up to them."On my mark...GO PLUS ULTRA!"
Darby nearly screamed aloud upon the stranger yelling loudly next to him."What the hell?!"
"You know, it's pretty rude to just barge in unannounced into other people's huddles like that, Inasa." Said a teenager with purple hair. Upon further inspection, it was obvious that they were from the same school along with the guy who had invaded their zone.
"Ah! Pardon me! I AM SO! VERY! EXTREMELY SORRY!" He bowed down to the ground, hitting his head hard against it.
"Who the hell is this guy?! I do not trust his enthusiasm!" Kaminari pointed at him judgingly.
Jiro gasped."Hey, look at their uniforms!"
"They're from that famous school on the other side of Japan," Sero explained.
"U.A in the east, Shiketsu in the west." Bakugo seemed aware of them to the point of not voicing out his opinion on them
"Never heard of them." Darby poked his left ear."Then again, I wasn't aware of the Sports Festival before."
"I wanted to say it at least once! Plus Ultra! See, I really love U.A highschool! I am extremely honored to compete against such incredible students! I'm so looking forward to it!" He voiced his thoughts, ignoring his own head bleeding like a fountain.
"Oh, blood." The girl of the group muttered.
"Yes! Blood!" Darby yelped, taking a step back."This dude literally cracked his head open and is acting like it wasn't a big deal?!"
"Let's go." Said the purple-haired young man, followed by his classmates.
"Inasa Yoarashi..." Aizawa observed analytically as their rival school walked away.
"Do you know him, Aizawa-sensei?" Hagakure inquired in curiosity.
"Indeed. He's strong." This alarmed the whole class. For their teacher to praise someone was unexpected."He's the same year as you all are and received top scores for students who entered through recommendation.
"The top score of the recommendation exam?!" Midoriya cried out, unable to comprehend what they were just informed.
"You're kidding me...so that would mean he..." Darby trailed off, staring at Todoroki from the side.'He must be tough.'
"Hold on." Sero caught their attention."Isn't this weird, though? If he loves U.A so much, then why did he turn down the choice when he was offered?"
"Weirdo." Mina voiced her blunt opinion on the guy.
"Maybe so. But he's the real deal." Aizawa instructed them."Best to keep an eye on him."
"Oh my gosh! Eraser! It's you, isn't it, Eraser?!"
"Great..." Aizawa stiffened at the sound of his name.
A woman with green hair and a particularly odd attire walked up to the group with a radiant smile."I saw you a while back at the Sports Festival but it's been a while since we were this close in person!"
Aizawa simply deadpanned, his eye twitching at the sight of the overly excited woman.
"She looks familiar," Midoriya commented, probably trying to remember all of the countless heroes he has investigated.
"Let's get married." She said out of the blue.
"No."
Ashido squealed at the sight, her eyes sparkling in glee.
"Ha! You're a real laugh riot, buddy!" The woman broke into a fit of laughter, holding her belly.
Aizawa seemed unamused."As always, you're impossible to socialize with, Ms. Joke."
"Come on, imagine it! If I was your wife you'd have a future of constant laughter!" She beamed while giving a thumbs up.
"That sounds like an actual nightmare." Said the ever-blunt class A teacher. This only got her to erupt into laughter once more.
"You two seem awfully close." Tsuyu pointed out, much to everyone's relief. If anyone had the guts to meddle in Aizawa-sensei's affairs, it would be her.
"Our agencies were near each other." She blushed, hugging her arms."As young heroes striving to make a difference in the world, a mutual love bloom-"
"No, it didn't."
"I do miss your quick retorts! You're my favorite person to tease, future husband!"
Aizawa seemed to have enough and decided to get straight to business."So, Joke, if you're here, then that must mean..."
"That's right! Over here, everyone! This is U.A!" On cue, a group of students wearing grey shirts made their way over to them.
"Oh, woah! It really is class A!" Said a young man awfully similar to Midoriya, only taller.
"That's so amazing!" A young girl with blonde hair tapped his shoulder with enthusiasm."I've seen them on tv before!"
"Second years, from Ketsubutsu Academy. This is class 2. They're my students." Ms. Joke introduced them as the first one went immediately to greet Midoriya by grabbing his hands.
"Hey! I'm Shindo! Seems like U.A's had a lot of trouble this year. Must have been tough for you." He quickly made his way over to Kaminari, doing the same gesture."But even so, you're still aiming to become pro heroes, despite those hardships!" He took advantage of the fact that Jiro was next to the electric user and grabbed her hands too."It's wonderful! Heart full of fortitude. I believe that's what every hero in the world needs to have!"
"Midoriya, you never mentioned you have a brother." Darby stifled a chuckle.
"N-no! We're not related!" The green-hair boy protested."Still...he's too nice..."
"He's charming pretty boy personality is going to steal our girls..." Kaminari complained, earning a glare from Jiro.
"That's what you're worried about?"
"Bakugo! Nishikawi!" He stood in front of the blondes of the classroom."It must have been tough for both of you as well. Bakugo with that whole kidnapping incident and Nishikawi with his friend turning to become a villain."
"How did you-"
"It's all over the internet." Shindo cut him off, offering a hand to Bakugo."You in particular have great spirit. Despite being kidnapped along with Kachidoki, you never broke, did you? I want to do my best today to learn from you. Is that okay?"
Bakugo slapped his hand away."Stop pretending. Don't go thinking you know what anyone here has been through."
"Hey, Bakugo! Don't be so rude!" Kirishima snapped, ashamed of his friend's response."Sorry! He's just like that."
"It's fine. I'm afraid I crossed a line." He bowed to them in respect."I apologize for offending you, Nishikawi and Bakugo."
Bakugo clicked his tongue while Darby shook his head."It's cool. Don't sweat it. What's done is done."
If people from another school knew about the incident, would that prevent Kachidoki from returning to school? He decided to worry about that later. He had a license to earn, after all.
Provisional License Exam Location, Noon
"Holy fuck. There are way too many people in here." Darby gasped, tugging at his sweater."Can't they at least turn the damn AC on?"
"Maybe you shouldn't wear so many layers?" Shoji suggested, earning a disapproving glare from Darby
"Uh...okay then, let's do this exam thing." Echoed the voice of a tired man who sounded he was about to collapse."I'm from...the Heroes Public Safety Commission. Name's Mera. Oh man...I've been so busy I haven't gotten much rest. We're so understaffed...
I'm so tired..." He held his head with his hand."With that confession, let's start with the orientation...So, about the content of this license thing, basically, 1540 examinees compete in a free for all exercise or whatever we're calling it this year."
"Seriously? That's not a lot of info." Sero frowned.
Darby shrugged, placing his hands behind his head."Sounds like a battle royale. I'm good with those...in-game..."
"See...we got a lot of pros around and seeing as Stain was arrested, many people have expressed doubts regarding the status of heroes in society."
The mention of Stain's name sent chills down class A's class, particularly the ones who faced him head-on.
"But...when you really think about it, getting paid makes sense. If you're risking your life to save someone, why shouldn't you ask for a reward?" Mera brought up a valid point."That's just the way the world works-God, I could use a coffee. Anyway, whether they're in it for compensation or a sense of duty, we've got too many heroes working together on the streets these days to keep villains at bay. Honestly, the time when an incident begins and when it's solved, it's ridiculously short. You are all here trying to get your provisional licenses, so you'll be involved in this tiresome mess yourselves pretty quickly. Those of you who don't have the speed...frankly, you won't cut it. Which is why that's what you'll be testing on."
A screen lid up above them, showing then number 100.
"The first 100 students to fulfill the requirement will pass today."
The announcement sent everyone into a frenzy, and rightfully so. The tension was growing in the air and the realization that they may very well not passed began sinking in.
"The world can be pretty crappy." Mera resumed on his explanation."I suppose I should say something about luck. So, anyway, here are the basic rules. The examinees will put these three targets on their body. They can go anywhere you can as long as it's an exposed area. That means no soles of the feet or armpits. Each of you will also have six of these balls. The targets are programmed to light up whenever they make contact with the ball. If all three targets are light up, you're out. Oh, and the person who lights up your third target will get credit for your defeat.
You'll get through this run by taking down two people. That it? Good."
'Only six balls? I guess they are assuming we'll do this thoroughly and actually take down two people in one go. Guess they must really want the best of the best, naturally.' Darby swallowed the lump in his throat.'Shit. Things just went from bad to critical.'
"What else? Ah. I guess we'll start passing down the targets and balls. Then you'll have a few minutes to get situated after we open."
"Open?" Todoroki rose a brow."Open wh-"
All of a sudden, the ceiling began to open and the walls began retracting backward, revealing the scorching light of the sun.
"I'm sure you all like terrains you like and some that you'd like to avoid. Use your Quirks well and do your best. Or not." The cynical man yawned."Makes for a great reveal, doesn't it? And for what? So much sleep lost for this...Hopefully, some of these kids are fast and we can get this over with...until then I'm going to rest my eyes..."
After getting situated, class A stood together in the middle of the arena. Darby had sat down on the floor and began meditating. He had placed his targets and was ready to go. One on his forehead, right in the middle of his headband, another one behind his back, and one on his chest. As he gathered up energy, he faintly heard Midoriya suggesting for them to stay together.
'Not a bad strategy.' Darby thought as his skin became pale and his hair turned light blue. He stood up, noticing that Bakugo, Kirishima, and Todoroki had dipped."Can't say I wasn't expecting that."
"We should get going," Mineta suggested, earning a nod from Deku. The group began jogging forward, making sure they stay united.
"The first test has now begun!"
Just then, Darby felt something grab onto his cat ears.
"Guys, really? Now's not the time to-AHHHH!" He screamed as he was pulled in the air by something.
"Nishikawi!" Midoriya activated his Full-Cowling, ready to go after his friend.
"Stay focused!" Darby cried out as he got further away."I'll catch up with you guys soon!" He was tossed against a building, breaking the window as he on the ground. He created a Black Umbrella, shielding himself from the rain of glass.
"Ha. That was a nice one, Ichiban. You actually got him from this distance.
"Of course. I've been training my accuracy, especially for this event."
Darby called his spheres back, leaning against the wall as he eyed his opponents. They were wearing black pants, white under-shirts with black ties, and black blazers with white collars.
"You must be Darby Nishikawi." A young man with frizzly silver hair stared down at Darby as he stood on a light post in the middle of the street. His green orbs met Darby's blues."Though you seem a bit different from what we saw on tv."
"Who gives a damn?! Just ask him!" The blue-haired teenager snapped at his comrades. He coughed in his hand, giving Darby a polite smile."Good day to you, my friend. My name is Nishikiyama Adachi. Second-year at Jojo Academy. You must be Darby Nishikawi, I assume? Sorry. Didn't recognize you with that new style you're rocking."
"Sheez...whatever gave you that idea." Darby huffed, slightly irritated."What do you guys want? Taking into consideration you know my name, I'm guessing this wasn't coincidental?"
"And you'd be right." The one in the streetlight stood up in the middle of it."Name's Rohan Kabeyama. You could say I'm the one who spotted you. Also, the one running this show."
"Like hell, you are, Kabeyama." Adachi snapped at him."Salazar-sama put me in charge of this and I intend to honor his decision!"
Darby deadpanned, scratching his head in confusion."Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on here?"
The man who had somehow grabbed down on his leg and pulled him all the way here took a step forward while the other two bickered. He had teal-colored hair combed to the left, green eyes and a composed expression."I'm Darui Katsuga. Second-year like everyone in my team. Why we are targeting you is rather simple. You are friends or at least close acquaintances with Takashi Kachidoki, aren't you?"
"Takashi? You guys know him?" He seemed to hesitate to come up with an answer."It's...complicated..."
"Well, so it happens that we are familiar with him as well." Katsuga put a hand on his hip."He was interning with us under Guren Intelli-sama. I never really spoke to him, but the few instances where we met were quite peculiar. He always seemed to have this high-class aura around him, even amongst us, people of elite status. Naturally, my classmates didn't take this kindly and developed a hatred for him. Especially when he put shame on Guren-sama's name when he got involved with the Hero Killer and this recent fiasco of his."
"Okay, but what the hell does that have to do with m-"
"Don't interrupt me." Katsuga glared at Darby, silencing him."I was getting to that. Salazar-sama had a particular interest in him. However, you came in first and took his chance of putting him in his place for him. A boy from nowheresville that belongs to no important family. Someone with unremarkable and normal. You took down a Kachidoki. Naturally, you piqued our interest. If we take you down, the person who defeated Salazar-sama's prey...then we'll be able to stand in front of him and prove our worth. We'll be able to stand on equal ground with him."
"Which means, whoever takes you down first will win our little competition," Adachi smirked, showcasing a claw-like ring in his left index finger. He unsheathed a small blade from his back and jumped down to the ground."Of course, we could just throw our balls at you and get this over with, but where is the fun in that?"
"Salazar-sama won't be satisfied with us winning due to paltry rules." Kabeyama added on, folding his arms."Anyway, not like you have a choice in the matter. We chose this particular spot because there isn't anyone around. At least not close. Even if your little classmates come down here to save you, they'll take some time. It's your funeral, kid."
Darby clocked his tongue, taking a battle stance.'Four against one...can't say I like the odds. Not to mention I don't know anything about their Quirks. On the contrary, they must be aware of mine, since they've probably gathered information from the footage of the Sports Festival. But at least I have the advantage of Chaos Mode.'
Without warning, Kabeyama began taking in a lot of air, his stomach slightly bulging."Ghost Kamikaze Attack!" He began exhaling, spitting out the white goo from his mouth that began taking the form of a smaller version of himself.
"What the hell is that?!" Darby covered his mouth, disgusted at the doppelganger that had shown up.
"This is my Quirk. It's called Ghost Kamikaze. I can create ghosts of myself by inhaling the oxygen around me. Now, Ghost!" He turned to his ghostly version of himself."You know what to do."
"Yes, sir!" Said the eery voice as he saluted. The ghost flew over to Darby as it cackled all the way.
Darby jumped backward, barely missing the fist of the ghost."Shit! It's fast!" He manifested his six Black Spheres, creating two Black Shields in front of him.
Kabeyama grinned, spitting out two more ghosts."I wonder what you'll do about these two. Go, ghosts!"
"Yeah!" Both of them cheered as they went at incredible speed over to Darby's blindside.
Meanwhile, Darby was waiting for the first ghost's movements. Its head got stuck on the ground and was trying to break itself free to no avail.
'This Quirk is really weird...Kind of reminds me of Tokoyami's. It creates an entirely different entity that can be used in battle. But this one doesn't seem to be attached to him at all. It's sentient. Ghost Kamikaze. That's what its name is.' He narrowed his eyes.'I get the ghost part, but why kamikaze? Now that I think about it, I think I've heard that word before during history class back in America.'
Before he could ponder on the matter, his senses spiked up and drove him to jump aside, watching in slow motion as another ghost flew past him and crashed into his Black Shields. Darby grunted, backhanding the other ghost that was coming in the throat. The creature mocked choking before erupting into laughter, holding onto Darby's arm. Its body began shining brightly as well as the one behind him.
'Kamikaze...means suicide bomber?!' The ghosts blew up point-blank, creating an explosion that covered the entire area in smoke.
"Did you get him?" Asked Adachi, scratching his ear.
"You should be good to go. That explosion wasn't meant to kill him or anything but he must be disoriented by the blast. Not to mention his ears must be ringing like hell right now due to how close he was, so he'll be easy to catch."
"You say that, but he just reacted to them coming up behind him." Katsuga spoke after a while."His senses must be incredibly high. You shouldn't take him lightly."
"Yeah, yeah." Adachi brushed him off. He dashed over inside the smoke, losing himself in the cloud of dust.
"Shit..." Darby winced in pain as he held his right hand."Luckily, I managed to form another Black Shield behind make to protect myself from that ghost's explosion. But the one clinging onto my arm was..." He coughed up smoke out of his lungs, feeling his throat dry out."Someone is coming!" He senses the presence of someone approaching fast.
"Don't forget about me!" Came the voice of the ghost he had originally encountered as it exploded behind him, sending him flying out of the dust and into the fresh air.
"Little Feet!"
Darby moved his head to the side, feeling as Adachi's claw scratched his right cheek. He rolled on the ground before backflipping a few meters away, gaining some distance."Shit! That was close! You could have poked an eye out with that thing!"
"Ha! Stop being such a puss! I wasn't aiming for any vital areas in your body." Adachi pointed at him with his claw."My Quirk is called Little Feet. And you can see its effects already, can't you?"
"What do you mean?" Darby inquired, adjusting his sweater."I don't feel anything. Sheez, what the hell is up with my clothe-Hey!" He screeched as he felt something covered his eyes. He quickly grabbed whatever it was and cleared his vision."My headband? But why did it fall off? I'm pretty sure I tied it up perfectly! Wait a minute...have you all...gotten taller...?"
"What are you, dense?" Adachi seemed ticked off at him."You haven't noticed you've gotten younger?!"
"Younger?" Darby gasped."Ah! So that's why I'm so small and my voice is all squeaky!"
"My Quirk can reverse someone's age depending on how deep the cut I inflict on my opponents is. Judging by your appearance, you're probably around...12 years old."
"No wonder my clothes were falling off." He nodded in understanding as he tied up his belt as much as he could around his waist."I was 12 when I hit my growth spurt. Earlier than that and I was a midget. No wonder Tokage-san was making fun of my height when we first met..."
"Don't get distracted now, Nishikawi!" Adachi screamed as he prepared himself to slash at Darby from behind, however, Darby quickly blocked his blade with a Black Batton and punched him in the stomach, sending him flying towards a window and crashing through it.
"I may be small, but that's about it. I still have Neko Mode active and my strength hasn't decreased that much!" He held his fist up with pride."Come and get it jerks!"
"He's certainly skilled." Katsuga analyzed him with interest."Adachi's Quirk affects the body, not the Quirk. Although...his Quirk is Black Spheres, isn't it? He displayed four during the Sports Festival but now he has six. His skin and hair are different, not to mention he has those weird cat ears now. Could it be... a subquirk?"
"SubQuirk?" Kabeyama arched a brow.
"They're supposedly almost like a second Quirk, but not really. Take Shoto Todoroki's Quirk, for example. He makes it seem as though he had two different Quirks, but in fact, he only has one. I guess it's the same for him. However, why use it now..." Katsuga bit his thumb."He didn't showcase power like that in the Sports Festival, an important event for U.A students to be scouted for hero agencies. Why would he not go all out then? It doesn't make sense."
"I see what you mean." Kabeyama agreed after pondering on his words."Maybe he didn't have control of it at the time? Maybe he was limiting himself? It's hard to tell for sure."
"Whatever the case, we need to figure out how this power of his works."
"Let me go after him. Using mt ghosts, I-"
"Out of the question." Katsuga cut him off sharply."You are our ace in the hole. Our whole plan of victory revolves around you. Considering the three of us are the strongest in our class, it's clear we have a lot of expectations to meet. Which means, we'd be facing entire classes by ourselves. That being said, we need you in the back to deliver the finishing blow. Hey, Adachi. You up yet?"
"Little bastard got me good..." Adachi wobbled over to stand a few meters in front of Darby."He packs a punch, that's for sure. Don't want to be on the receiving end of them when he goes back to normal size. You got a strategy, Katsuga?"
"It's in the works, though I need to know more about his Quirk first," Katsuga informed him as he began taking a few steps back slowly.
Darby narrowed his eyes, noticing his opportunity."You guys are wide open!" He manifested his six spheres and sent them with the balls given to him.
"He's coming!" Adachi jumped up in the air, evading the attack.
"10 meters..."
Kabeyama sneered."I'm not going to be able to make a ghost in time!" A ball managed to hit in his mark, turning on the light.
"20... meters..."
Katsuga watched as the spheres came to a halt, approximately 10 meters away from him. He smiled.
Darby clicked his tongue."He figured out my range...but still!" Darby used one sphere to hit another one, sending it flying against Katsuga's mark on his stomach. The composed young man coughed up saliva as he felt the sphere plant itself in his belly, sending him skidding on the ground.
"Alright! Got two of them!" He gasped, feeling as his body began growing back in size."And I'm back to normal! Seems his power doesn't last long."
"Shit..." Adachi grimaced, glancing back at his friends."Hey! He figured out the limit of my Quirk!"
"Same here..." Kabeyama rubbed his lit mark on his torso."And with speed like that, he'll have no trouble catching up with me."
"That may be so, but this brief encountered served both sides to learn about each other's weaknesses." Katsuga explained as he folded his arms."While it is true he might have figured out some weaknesses in your Quirks, I was also able to find out more about his. It seems he can only create six of those spheres. If he could create more, he would have done so to provide a better distraction and possibly get more marks down on us. Secondly, his range is 20 meters. However, he can increase it by hitting his own spheres. I should have known... he did that at the Sports Festival, after all. But we still have one element of surprise."
Darby furrowed his brow."That being you. Right? That's right..."
"Oh, right. He still hasn't seen your Quirk in action." Kabeyama beamed at the realization."But then why did you say I-"
"You still are our ace in the hole." Katsuga sighed, removing his blazer."I'll be the one charging in. Adachi, you follow me and get him with your Little Feet. Kabeyama, you'll do the finish move. Take our balls." He said as he put his balls inside his blazer.
Adachi decided to comply, taking off his own blazer and stuffing it with his balls."He might be fast, but against you, he stands no chance."
"We shouldn't underestimate him. We know how his Black Sphere works, however, w have still yet to uncovered that second Quirk he has." Without wasting another second, he dashed at Darby, fists close to the ground.
"Here they come!" Darby took a battle stance, grabbing the four balls he managed to scoop in his arms.
Katsuga pressed his fist against the asphalt as he ran.
"What is he doing? That's going to hurt his knuckles!" Darby exclaimed, confused at his opponent's moves. All of a sudden, a zipper appeared in the middle of the road, opening up and causing Darby's foot to fall inside."What the hell?!" He looked down below, watching in awe as his foot was being confused by a purple void.
"This is my Quirk, Nishikawi." Katsuga was mere inches away from him."It's called Zipper Touch. I can put a zipper on anything that I choose!" He punched him in the solar plexus, knocking the wind out of him.
Darby grabbed his arm, holding him in place as his six spheres came crashing down but Katsuga jumped over him, avoiding the attack and dropping Darby on the floor. He grabbed him by the arm and spun him around as his arm unzipped itself, increasing his range and throwing Darby inside the third floor of a building.
Kabeyama spat a total of eight ghosts."Go, ghosts!"
"Yes!" The ghosts cackled as they gave chase. Darby ran as fast as he could through the rooms, locking doors behind him and knocking on whatever object he could find. The ghosts kept crashing against walls, pillars, and ceilings as they chased after Darby.
"Shit!" Darby cursed under his breath."At this rate, the whole building is gonna collapse on us!" The trembling was increasing rapidly. The explosions generated by the ghosts had destroyed key parts of the infrastructure that supported the upper floors. With no choice left, Darby ran for a window and nose-dived outside just in time before the ceiling collapsed on top of the leftover ghosts, making them explode upon impact.
Using a Black Sphere, Darby morphed it into a Black Disk and surfed in the air to safety, jumping down an alley and hiding behind a dumpster.
"That was close..." Darby sighed, taking a deep breath."Still..they got one of my marks...I better get out of here before they find me again." He heard the found of a zipper in the distance closing in on him. He jumped back, noticing there was a zipper underneath him and it was closing. As he looked up, he saw Katsuga using the zipper to fly towards Darby at high speeds.
"You have to be kidding me! How versatile is that Quirk?!" Darby cried out, running out of the alley and into the street. Once he was there, he ran towards a bridge with boxes laying around in the middle of it. Before he took a step forward, several people emerged from the boxes all dressed in a similar uniform to his pursuers.
"They were hiding waiting for their chance!" Darby manifested his Black Spheres."There are too many for me to take down. Not to mention the others are closing in behind me...they planned to lure me here and cornered me. This is a pincer attack!"
The Jojo Academy students readied their balls and Quirks, taking aim at Darby. Behind him, Katsuka, Kabeyama and Adachi were also closing in on him.
"I have no choice...it might drain my stamina, but I'm going to have to use Chaos Mode!" Darby closed his eyes as he began to relax as much as he could.
"What's that?!" He heard one of the thugs say. He opened his eyes, glancing up at the sky and noticing a purple ray coming down to the ground. As it landed in front of him, several purple beams were shot at the students in front of him. Unbeknownst to them, six of them hid six balls that were used to constantly hit the students as the beams were manipulated at will.
"What's going on?" Darby blinked in shock."All of them are being taken out."
"Shit! We have to end him now!" Adachi screamed out, turning to Kabeyama."Use your ghosts and finish Nishikawi!"
"R-right!" Kabeyama stammered as he stared at his fellow students being taken down by the purple balls."SUPER GHOST KAMIKAZE ATTACK!" As soon as he created one ghost, a purple ball connected against it, forcing it to explode in front of Kabeyama and sending him crashing against Katsuga.
"I wasn't expecting you to have trouble handling them, Darby." They heard a voice say from within the purple energy. As the energy cleared out, Darby could make up a very familiar black outfit with a black helmet he remembered he'd broke before.
"Then again, those three are minions working directly under Salazar, so they have their level of strength."
Darby's eyes shot open, glancing at the black knight-armored person in front of him."No way...what are you...doing here...?"
The person walked up to him, cracking his neck before raising his hand at Adachi, who was still standing."You guys did mention you wanted to have a go at me, right? Well, this is your golden opportunity."
Adachi spat on the ground, a grin gracing his lips."Should I thank you then? Takashi Kachidoki?"
Oh, oh. Didn't expect that did you. Is Kachidoki on Darby's side? Just what is he doing here? Find out in the next chapter!
