~Johns POV~

I have no idea how long it has been since I was told to leave the operating room but Joe and I sit in Laylas room wondering what the hell is going on. Eventually the door opens and the wheel Layla back in the room in a bed. She's still asleep but looks like she has more color than when I left her. I hope she's going to be okay.

"We could not find anything wrong with her when she passed out. Everything is fine, her blood pressure is good, every vital is fine. So we are assuming she was extremely overwhelmed and she should wake up soon." The doctor explains before walking out the room Joe and I both look at her as she sleeps, I hate this has happened to her and I hope her baby boy is ok.

Once we sit back down there is a knock at the door and the pediatrician walks in and looks at Layla before looking at me.

"Mr Cena you are her fiancé right?" She asks and I nod. I know I am getting a hell of a look from Joe but at this point I don't care.

"Ok so your little boy-"

"He's not my blood son. I just got with Layla when she was already pregnant but I love him just the same." I explain to her and she nods understanding.

"Anyway he is doing ok for now. His vitals are low and his breathing is all off but we have him stable but the next forty-eight hours or so will be a touch and go situation. We are giving him medications to help him grow but we have no idea how much they help at this point. He didn't have long enough inside to completely get everything he needs but he's doing as well as to be expected at this point." She explains. "Miss Olsen and you can come see him once she wakes up but we can't allow either of you to hold him right now." She says.

"I understand, thank you for the update." I tell her before she leaves the room. I look over at Joe once she left and he's still looking at me as if I have lost my mind.

"Fiancé? Care to explain?" He asks and I have to chuckle at that one.

"It was the only way they would let me stay with her and get updates when they brought her in. I told her about it she knows I did it last time she was in the hospital she's ok with it." I explain knowing he needed to know what has been said.

"Good I thought you proposed to her without asking me first or even being with her and I though I was gonna have to have a piece of that ass for a second." He says and I had to laugh. I know he couldn't take me but that's something he will never find out. He laughs also then we both get quiet when we hear mumbling from the bed. We look over and Laylas head is thrashing back and forth and she's sweating.

"No Nicky don't go through that light." she mumbles and I'm sure she's dreaming about Nick. Before I know what's happening she sits straight up with a loud scream I know from the pain from her cut where they got the baby out. Nurses rush in and calm her down and check her wound, making sure she didn't rip anything before giving her some pain meds and leaving.

"That smarted." She said holding her middle where the cut is.

"Are you okay?" I ask her not knowing what caused all that.

"Yea just a bad dream." She says and lays back against her pillows looking up at the tv.

"You sure?" I ask her as I walk up to her, sitting next to her on the edge of the bed.

"Yes John just a bad dream about Nick. I was hopping once the baby was born those dreams would stop but they only seem to have gotten worse." She says to me and I look at her, worried about her mental health.

"Why don't you talk to someone about those dreams Layla you might can get some help so the dreams will stop." Joe says from his chair on the other side of the room, saying what I was thinking.

"I don't know about that dad I'm fine. Its just a bad dream. That's the first one I've had the others weren't bad. I think I will be fine I'm just exhausted and want to see the baby." She says and Joe nods but he doesn't look sold on what she's saying.

"The nurse said I can take you to see him once you wake up if you want to Layla." I tell her and she nods as she presses the nurse call button Im assuming to tell her she wants to see her baby. The nurse comes in and checks her over before bringing in a wheel chair for her. The nurse and I help her into the chair before we head out of her room and down the hall to the NICU. Once we enter the foyer of the NICU we are told to wash our hands and then I am allowed to wheel her inside. We go in the doors and there are baby beds along along the wall but no babies in any of them except the one almost at the far end. The nurse looks up from taking car of a baby on the on the other end of the room and fishes what she's doing and comes up to us.

"You must be our newest additions parents." She says with a smile and Layla nods looking over at a bed that has baby Phillips on a piece of paper taped above the bed.

"He's right over here." She says and walks a little ways over to the bed almost in the corner. I push Laylas chair over to the bed and she peers over into the baby bed that is covered with a clear top.

"Why is he in a box?" Layla asks as she looks over at the tiny baby in the baby bed.

"It is an oxygen box. He's in there to give him more oxygen so that his lungs will develop more quickly. He was born two months pre mature so he missed those last two months of growing in which is the time where they gain more weight and their lungs develop the rest of the way. He's on medication to help him grow quicker also. We will know not how long it will take toe work. Sometimes its days sometimes its weeks. We never know. Now if you pump and send us your breast milk more times than not that helps them grow twice as fast than without out it. So that is a very good idea." The nurse tells her and Layla nods, not taking her eyes off of her baby boy. "You can stick your hand inside to to touch him if you'd like." The nurses says and lets the side of the box down. "You just can't hold him right now. I will be right over here if you need me." The nurse adds then walks off, leaving us alone. Layla gently puts her hand in and holds his tiny hand and I can tell by her face she's holding back tears.

"He looks like Nick." She says as she looks at her baby.

"He favors you too. He has your nose." I tell her as I sit in a chair next to her.

"Yea but everything else is his daddy." She says as she continues to watch him.

A good hour passes by of Layla holding his hand and us talking quietly back and forth before all of a sudden alarms start going off and before we know it we are being rushed out of the NICU without any warning or explanation.

"Whats going on!?" Layla all but shouts as a nurse rushes us out and another nurse and the doctor rush to his side.

"We will let you know as soon as we know. Please head back to your room." The nurse says and before we know it were pushed back in the hallway.

"What in the hell was that!? They won't even let me stay with my own child?" Layla says and I can tell she's pissed off.

"I don't know, maybe they will give us an update soon." I tell her as I push her back to her room.

~Layla's POV~

After what felt like days but was only a few hours they come in and tell me that my baby is doing just fine. They go him stable again and will hopefully be okay. I hope and pray he will make it through this.
