Chloe sat with Lucifer on the deck to his home while Trixie swam in the pool. She was really happy right now. This was what she wanted. She wanted a life with Lucifer. She wanted to enjoy the little moments with him and her daughter, moments like this. Of course, this moment was overshadowed by the fact that Lucifer's mother and twin brother were trying to start a Heavenly war. She felt like she probably shouldn't be taking comfort in this moment for that reason. "Do you think it's wrong to be sitting here like this while your mom is out there trying to destroy everything?"

"Of course not, Darling. There's nothing I can do until I hear from either Gabriel or Amenadiel anyway. Right now, waiting is all we can do, and we may as well enjoy that time, right?" Lucifer asked.

"I guess. I think I just feel bad that I can sit here happy when things aren't exactly great at the moment," Chloe said.

"Don't. Being miserable certainly won't help anyone," Lucifer said before picking up one of the wine glasses on the table between them and taking a sip. "We may as well enjoy things while they last. Soon, I'll have to prevent a war, and then return to prison… I mean Heaven."

"Why's your dad making you stay in Heaven anyway? You never said," Chloe said. She'd actually never cared before. It only mattered to her that he was forcing Lucifer to be there against his will. Now that Lucifer was here, she had to admit she was curious.

"Of course, I did. I told you he was a bastard," Lucifer said as though that explained everything.

Chloe rolled her eyes. "There has to be more of a reason than that, otherwise he would've forced you back up there long before he did.

Lucifer hesitated. He got the feeling that the detective was going to take issue with his methods in saving her life if he told her.

"Lucifer," Chloe pressed.

"Well, Dad may have taken offense to something I did," Lucifer said.

"And what was that?" she asked.

"He was a bit unhappy with the way I intended to retrieve the formula for your antidote," he said.

"What did you do, Lucifer," Chloe asked annoyed. He was stalling, which meant he knew that whatever he did, she would not approve of.

"Well, the monster who poisoned you was dead, and as such, he took the recipe for the antidote with him. I saw only one option for getting my hands on it. I would have to go to Hell and get the bastard to reveal it to me. Unfortunately, I didn't have my wings than. I cut him off, remember? Dad returned them after commanding me to return the Heaven. So, there was only one way for me to get to Hell. I would have to die," Lucifer explained.

Chloe's eyes widened, and she reached over and smacked him on the arm. "You killed yourself?!"

"Ow! I had to. It was the only way I could get the formula. It was only supposed to be for a minute. I was going to get to Hell and get the formula. Then Linda was going to shock me back to life. Unfortunately, Dad had other plans. Instead of Hell, I appeared outside Heaven's gates. He wasn't pleased with my decision," Lucifer said.

"Neither am I, you idiot!" she said before hitting him again. She couldn't believe him. Obviously, she was grateful that he was willing to go so far to save her, but she was also horrified. She didn't want him giving up his life to save her.

"Bloody hell! Stop that! It was the only way I could help you!" Lucifer exclaimed.

"Really? Did you even try to find another one, or did you go right to suicide."

"Ugh! You sound like my father," Lucifer grumbled.

"Well, he's right!" Chloe said a bit loudly. God was sort of right anyway. She didn't agree with him forcing Lucifer back to Heaven, obviously, but she definitely agreed that what Lucifer did was stupid.

"Please don't say things like that. Anyway, as I said, Dad wasn't happy. At first he wasn't going to send me back to save you. I had to talk him into it. Actually, now that I think about it, Dad isn't usually talked into anything he doesn't want to do. He was probably always going to let me save you. The bastard probably just wanted me to sweat," he realized with a grumble.

Chloe sighed. "Lucifer, I appreciate you trying to save my life, but don't you ever do something like that again. I don't want to kill yourself for me."

"Well, I won't have to. I have my wings now," Lucifer said with a grin.

Chloe glared at him. "Lucifer!"

"Look, Darling, I'll tell you what I told my father. I'm not going to apologize for trying to save you. I would do it all over again to save you. You mean the world to me," Lucifer said.

"And you mean just as much to me. That's why I have such a problem with you possibly ending your life for me. What if your plan had gone accordingly until it came time for Linda to bring you back. What if she failed to save you? Bringing someone back from the dead isn't exactly cut and dry," she said.

"Then I did everything I could. I wouldn't want to be here without you anyway," Lucifer said seriously.

Chloe sighed. She supposed there was no point in continuing to lecture him. It was over, and he had definitely paid the price for it, with his father essentially grounding him. Besides, she wasn't sure she wouldn't do the same if his life was on the line. "Just promise me that if it happens again, you'll at least try to find another option."

"Very well, Darling. You have my word," Lucifer said.

Chloe grabbed her wine and took a big gulp of it.

Amenadiel was far from happy as approached his mother's home for dinner. The last thing he wanted to do was have dinner with his mother and his egotistical younger brother, both of whom were plotting war on Heaven. He wouldn't want have dinner with Michael even without the threat of war. He hated the little bastard. Everyone hated him. Amenadiel doubted his father even liked him. But his discomfort would be worth it if he could get information on whatever his mother was planning. His mother would be careful not to say too much, but Michael got vocal when the right buttons were pushed. Lucifer was the best at pushing those buttons, but Amenadiel knew how to play too.

Amenadiel knocked on the front door and waiting. About ten seconds later, his mother opened the door.

"Amenadiel, it's lovely to see you. I'm so happy you changed your mind. Come in," Charlotte said before stepping aside.

"Hi, Mom. I want you to know that I'm only here to make you happy. I still want nothing to do with Michael," Amenadiel told her.

Charlotte sighed. "Darling, I really wish you'd make a better effort to get along with your brother. I don't know why you and your siblings treat him so terribly."

Amenadiel had to fight to remain silent on the matter. It really wasn't a wonder why he was jealous of the twins. The two of them were always the favorites. Father had always preferred Samael while Mom favored Michael. At least his father was more subtle about it. He wasn't overly obvious about it, like his mother was with Michael. Amenadiel and his siblings all knew Samael was their father's favorite, but they also never doubted that their father loved them too. Their mother only seemed to care for them when it didn't get in the way of her love for Michael. Plus, at least their father didn't favor Samael to the point where he thought he was better than everyone else. He had become a bit full of himself during the rebellion, but his ego was nowhere near the size of Michael's.

"Should we eat now?" Amenadiel finally asked, choosing to move the subject away from his dick of a brother.

"Well, I ordered food, but it's not here yet. We can all get reacquainted in the dining room until it gets here. Your brother's in their waiting," Charlotte said before leading the way to the dining room.

"Great," Amenadiel muttered sarcastically as he followed his mother into the dining room. When he got there, he found his younger brother lounging comfortably at the table with a smirk on his face.

"Hello, Amenadiel. It's been a while. I suppose since you went off on your mission, which you failed to complete," Michael said.

Amenadiel smiled back at him. "Did I? It seems Father didn't want our brother in Hell."

"You didn't know that. Besides, I'm sure he'll change his mind on that matter soon enough," Michael said.

"Sit down, son. Let's talk for a few minutes," Charlotte said before taking a seat at the head of the table.

Amenadiel sat across from Michael.

"It took a while to get here. I suppose it's not so easy now that your wings are gone," Michael jabbed at his brother.

Amenadiel balled up his fists underneath the table, but he refused to allow Michael to get a rise out of him. He would not give the little bastard the satisfaction of letting him know he was hitting a nerve.

"It must be really terrible, brother. All your powers are gone and you can't get back into Heaven. Even Samael has been allowed back in. That must really hurt. Here you are stuck on this unfortunate planet while the outcast of the family is living it up once again in the
Silver City," Michael said with a smug look on his face.

Amenadiel returned the look. "I could say the same to you, brother. I mean, you're here on Earth, and you've at least been here for a couple of days. I wonder why."

"I decided to come for visit," Michael said.

"You don't visit Earth, Michael. You've always considered it beneath you. Here you are though. Something obviously happened. Were you a little bent out of shape that your twin made his way back into Father's good graces? We all know he's Father's favorite. He definitely prefers him to you. Then again, he prefer everyone to you. I mean, we all know he's never actually liked you," Amenadiel said. He could play this game just as well as Michael could. He knew exactly which buttons to push.

Michael rose to his feet, ready to attack his older brother.

Charlotte immediately got up. "Boys, stop! We're supposed to be enjoying a nice evening as a family. Amenadiel, please be kinder to your brother. He's been through a lot. Your father has been very hard on him lately.

Amenadiel didn't respond. There was no point. If he tried to defend himself, his mother would just continue to stand by Michael. It was all she ever did.

"Michael, please sit down. I don't want you to fight," Charlotte said.

Michael sat back down. He glared at his brother for another moment before his smirk returned. "You know, it's funny that you should mention Samael getting back into Father's good graces. He's recently gave our brother a new job. Yours actually. Samael is now Father's second in command.

Amenadiel let his smile fade and made sure he looked stricken by the news. He had to let Michael think he'd delivered a blow to him. If he didn't provide a believable reaction, his mother and brother would realize he already knew about it, which would lead them to figure out that he was in contact with Lucifer.

Michael smiled wider and laughed at his brother's reaction. "Yes, you've been replaced, and by the worst of us."

"I wouldn't go that far. You don't have the job. I never worried about that though. Father's not that stupid. He knows you could never be fit to act on his behalf. So, yes, while it bothers me that our brother has taken my place, I take comfort in the fact that it was him and not you," Amenadiel said.

"Yes, well, that comfort won't last!" Michael said loudly.

"Michael!" Charlotte called sharply. "Boys, there's no reason to turn on each other. We've all been wronged by your father. Amenadiel, I'm so sorry that your father has forsaken you. I'm sure you can understand now why your loyalty to him has always frustrated me. He doesn't deserve it."

Amenadiel could see his mother's plan clearly. She wanted to use this information to turn him against his father. Well, he might not like that his father appointed Lucifer his second, but he certainly wasn't going to plot against him over it. He could allow her to think she was swaying him though, but he would have to be careful about it. "Well, I do wish he'd picked someone one else, or that he would at least speak to me."

"Yes. You deserve that much consideration. Michael deserves consideration as well. It's really too bad that he won't give it to either of you," Charlotte said.

"Still, I'm sure he has his reasons," Amenadiel said, but he made sure to not sound so sure of himself. Again, he had to be careful about this. He had go slow about getting his mother to think her plan was working.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"It seems that dinner has arrived. I'll go get it," Charlotte said before getting up and heading for the door.
