Chapter 29- Turbulence

"Please stop." Weiss begged.

"I'm done, don't worry." Yang held her hands up.

"Forgive me but I don't believe you." Blake shook her head.

Yang gave her a 'what can you do?' shrug.

"So, season ten episode or anthology?" Jaune mumbled as he hit play.

"Turbulence" appeared on the screen with the theme.

"Season ten." Jaune hummed.

"Turbulence." Blake frowned. "I can't guess much from that."

The episode opens to Last Resort/Zanzibar. The Reds and Blues are seen driving in Warthogs, while Carolina rides alongside on a Mongoose. "Punch it" by Trocadero plays.

"WIND POWER FACILITY; PRESENT DAY" appears on the screen.

"Oh they're back there, there's a lot of history at that facility." Jaune commented.

Ruby laughed, "Yeah it's where Church made that amazing shot!"

"And it's where the Meta threw a warthog at Grif." Nora giggled.

"It's also where Lopez pettily made O'Malley's army slow." Weiss chuckled. "

"Don't forget it's also where they met the alien." Pyrrha added with a laugh.

The Reds stop and get out, causing everyone else to do the same.

Carolina: "What's going on? Why are we stopping?"

"She sounds upset." Ruby noted.

Pyrrha nodded, "It's still surreal.. Ruby what was it like hearing your voice last episode?"

Ruby shrugged, "It was cool but girl Simmons only sounded kind of like me."

"The lisp." Yang mumbled.

"I don't have a lisp!" Ruby slightly lisped.

Grif: "We've been driving for hours."

Carolina: "And we've got a lot more ground to cover, so let's keep moving."

Grif: "Listen lady, I know this is your first road trip with us, but we've got a system. And that system includes snack breaks, bathroom breaks, and stopping to take pictures of funny road signs."

Yang, Ruby, and Jaune laughed.

"That's a good system, my family's was similar." Jaune commented.

"Yeah ours too." Ruby gestured to herself and Yang.

"Funny road signs.." Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Wouldn't those be taken down?"

"Not all roads are prim and proper." Yang explained.

Weiss huffed, "I know that I'm not an idiot. Ugh...

"What are some funny road signs you've seen?" Pyrrha asked.

Yang began to snicker, "The one I can remember off the top of my head is Remnant road."

"What's funny about that?" Weiss asked.

Ruby chuckled, "The road was broken."

"So it was a remnant of a road." Yang explained as she laughed.

"That's better than the one I can remember, it was Grim crossing but someone spray painted glee over grim." Jaune explained.

"There are a million grim crossings." Nora commented.

"And Grimm crossings." Yang added.

The group groaned, shaking their heads.

Carolina: "That's ridiculous."

Grif: "Not as ridiculous as Bonner Street."

Ruby, Nora, and Yang snorted.

Weiss shook her head, "So childish." Ren and Blake nodded in agreement.

Simmons: "So close dude, so close."

Grif: "It's out there Simmons, we just have to have faith that we'll find it."

Pyrrha chuckled, "I've never heard Grif more hopeful about anything."

"I wonder if there's a bonner street on remnant." Ruby frowned.

"I think they're looking for a street with one less N." Yang pointed out.

"I know that." Ruby grimaced. "Bonner if funnier."

Camera focuses on Blues

Wash: "I should probably go stop her from killing your friend."

Wash proceeds in Carolina's direction

"I knew they would get to her eventually." Blake commented.

"I think we all knew they would." Weiss rolled her eyes.

Caboose: "Um, Tucker I just noticed something. Something really bad."

Tucker: "Yeah, me too dude. I think our guy-to-girl ratio peaked like five years ago."

"Yeah the most they've had on their team is two." Yang held up two fingers. "Two girls to three guys unless you count Sheila."

"I'd count Sheila." Ren suggested.

Yang laughed, "Yeah I still remember her being extremely passive aggressive to Church."

Caboose: "Uh, no, no, Tucker um. Yeah, we- we forgot to bring Church."

"Wait what? Church isn't with them?" Pyrrha raised an eyebrow.

"Did he go back into the unit?" Ruby asked. "No he couldn't have."

"He's probably just invisible." Jaune pointed out.

"Oh yeah, I forgot he can do that." Ruby nodded.

"He's not exactly invisible, he's only not appearing through their armor." Ren explained.

Tucker: "Wait, did you just now realize that Church isn't here?"

"He really is serious about dumping him." Ruby gasped.

"I can't believe he didn't notice- well actually I can but..." Weiss amended.

"I'm a little surprised as well." Pyrrha admitted, Weiss nodded.

Caboose: "He's not going to be pleased about this one."

Tucker: "Calm down moron, we didn't leave him behind."

Ren and Jaune nodded.

Caboose: "Ah, yes, but you see I am not seeing him so...where is he?"

Church appears in a smaller form beside Tucker's helmet.

Church: "Ugh, you don't wanna know."

"Oh HA!" Yang barked out a laugh.

"Seriously? Tucker let Church in his mind?" Jaune stated at the screen in confusion.

"I think it's weirder that Church let himself be put in Tuckers mind." Ruby grimaced.

"What horrors is Church going through in there." Weiss shook her head. "Sick and twisted ugh."

"I think it's safe to say he'd rather be in Caboose's head." Pyrrha chuckled.

Caboose: "Church! You're...you're so small. I would like to feed you a small cracker."

Pyrrha and Yang giggled.

Tucker (sarcastically): "How you liking the new place tinker bell?"

"Tinker bell? Leprechaun? Why are they calling the A.I. these things" Nora asked. "What are they!?"

"Probably some kind of creature, like the chupacabra they mentioned." Ren suggested.

Church: "You mean your disgusting storage unit?"

"Ohhh, not his head." Jaune hummed. "That makes more sense."

"Yeah something as monumental as having Church installed in one of their heads would be played up a little more." Yang nodded.

Tucker: "What! How is my storage unit 'disgusting'?"

Church: "Well, for starters, I had to delete fifty gigs worth of crap just so I could fit in this thing."

Tucker: "Woah, hang on a second dude. You didn't delete my, uh, 'Home Movies' folder did you?"

Yang snickered, "Home movies, sure."

"Gross." Ruby grimaced again. "I hope he deleted it."

"Me too." Weiss groaned.

Church: "And that brings me to my second point."

Camera zooms out on the Blues and focuses on Wash and Carolina standing on an overlooking balcony

Carolina: "What a bunch of worthless idiots."

"Never thought I'd hear those words from Pyrrha." Yang commented.

"I may have said something similar referring to team CRDL." Pyrrha admitted, Weiss and Blake chuckled.

Wash: "Yeah, they're idiots, but, they're not that bad once you get to know 'em."

Pyrrha smiled, "Note that he didn't agree that they were worthless."

"He's seen their worth.. what little there is but he's experienced it." Blake nodded.

"It's sweet in a way." Weiss added.

Carolina: "Hmm."

Wash: "You know, we almost managed to trap the Meta the last time we were here."

Carolina: "But you didn't."

Carolina slowly walks off from Wash along the balcony.

"She really wants perfection." Nora commented.

"Which is ridiculous." Pyrrha frowned.

Wash: "No. I guess not."

"Is he forgetting that they later killed the Meta?" Ruby asked.

"Yeah if Carolina wants perfect, how's tying him to a car and throwing that car off a cliff for perfection!?" Nora grinned.

"And they did it without any casualties." Weiss added. "Not counting Tex, she fought the Meta and Wash on her own."

"And kicked ass for a while." Yang smirked.

Fade into the past

"U.N.S.C. SCRAP METAL RECYCLING STATION, MANY YEARS AGO…" ominous music plays.

Cut to Wash, South, York, North and Carolina jet packing through space.

"I don't like this, I have a feeling something's coming." Jaune commented.

Carolina: "I don't get it, everything stopped."

North Dakota: "Maybe they're retreating…"

"Too optimistic." Blake commented.

York: "Nothing left out here but a bunch of junk."

Cut to the Pelican dropship flying through space. Cut to the inside of it where Four Seven Niner is seen.

Four Seven Niner: "This is Four Seven Niner, I have lost visual on targets. It's like they all just left."

"Like a tsunami they will come back." Ren advised.

Cut to the inside of the Mother of Invention where the Director and Counselor are walking to a lookout position

Counselor: "Sir, their outpost is disabled, and it looks as if we have driven off the remaining fighters."

Director: "Well, good riddance to bad rubbish Counselor."

"They have to see that something is wrong." Weiss gestured to the screen.

"Arrogance is a rather unbecoming trait remember? I think the director is a little arrogant." Blake explained.

"More than a little arrogant." Pyrrha added. "He treats the counselor horribly."

"Though he deserves it I agree." Weiss nodded. "He treats everyone as if they're not important. His evasive answers with the chairman are another example."

Counselor: "Indeed, sir, all enemy systems appear to be offline. Wait…"

The Counselor examines something he sees in the distance.

Director: "What is it?"

Cut to an enemy ship named the "Staff of Charon" emerging from hundreds of scrap metal pieces, coming online.

"They were hiding in the junk! They disguised the whole ship!" Nora gasped.

"It makes sense, there are tons of scrapped ships in that junkyard." Jaune added.

"..did anyone else notice the name of the ship?" Ruby asked.

"Staff of Charon.. hmm." Ren hummed. "Unless Charon means something I'd say the ship was made by them."

Ruby shook her head, "No- well yeah but remember the mugs? The coffee man?"

"Who?" Nora cocked her head to the side.

Jaune's eyes widened, "Charon Industries."

Ruby nodded, "Yeah, there has to be a connection there."

Blake rubbed her chin, "I agree, those details wouldn't be put in for nothing."

"Staff of Charon, the ship was captured by the enemy.. so whoever the ship belonged to was the staff of Charon industries." Ruby surmised.

"Hmm but why is it important?" Yang asked.

"Because the mugs indicate that the soldiers on the oil platform were also the staff of Charon. But we know they were insurrectionists." Weiss explained.

Ruby gasped, "They're both, The insurrectionists are the staff of Charon."

Weiss nodded, "Makes sense, I wonder why Charon has never been mentioned."

"Maybe it's not important to the overall story." Blake suggested.

Cut to Four Seven Niner in her Pelican

Four Seven Niner: "It's a trap, they're hiding in the junkyard. Repeat, it's a trap!"

"It's a trap? Really." Weiss remarked sarcastically.

Cut to inside the Mother of Invention where the Director and Counselor are still standing

Director: "Evasive maneuvers!"

Cut to inside the enemy ship where the Insurrectionist Leader and an Insurrectionist are standing

Insurrectionist Leader: "Fire."

Nora laughed "He says fire normally, every time the director says it he says.. 'fah!'"

Blake chuckled, "I thought I was the only one who noticed."

"It's his weird accent, it kind of reminds me of Sarge's." Jaune added.

The Staff of Charon fires at the Mother of Invention, hitting it several times. Cut to the inside where machinery is heard sparking and the ship is shaking

Director: "Son of a bi-"

Cut to a look of the two ships, both firing and hitting each other from the sides.

"Spaceship fight!" Nora cheered.

"They look like pirate ships!" Ruby gasped. "That's so cool! Pirates in space!"

Cut to the inside of the Mother of Invention again where soldiers are being tossed left and right, due to the blasts coming from the enemy ship. Cut to the enemy ship revealing more turrets which then fire at the Mother of Invention. Cut back to the inside showing the Director and Counselor

Director: "No!"

The Director hits a panel in anger.

"The Staff of Charon is destroying them." Jaune commented.

"Yeah it looks like the staff has a bunch of little guns while the mother only really has the one big gun." Ruby explained.

"Putting all of their eggs in one basket." Ren hummed.

Cut to the enemy ship dropping a nuke.

"What is that?" Blake squinted.

"A bomb, it's beeping." Nora pointed out.

Cut to the inside of the enemy ship again where C.T, the Insurrectionist Leader and the Insurrectionists are watching.

Insurrectionist Ray: "We're away sir, new course laid in. Are you sure you don't want to stay and finish this?"

"They could easily do it." Ruby commented.

Jaune nodded, "If they just circle the ship without going near the front canon they could win easily."

Insurrectionist Leader: "Heh, I left our guests a present."

"Yeah but see there's no point, they left a bomb." Nora grinned.

Camera zoom in on the nuclear device beeping while the enemy ship jets off. It is then passed by Four Seven Niner in the pelican, cut to the inside. A screen alerts Four Seven Niner reading "Nuclear Device Detected" while an alarm is sounding

Four Seven Niner: "Guys, get out of there, they've outfitted that piece of junk with nukes!"

Cut to inside the Mother of Invention with the alarm still sounding

Director: "Fall back, Counselor."

"What? Is he not going to wait for them?" Jaune gasped.

"That's cruel." Pyrrha shook her head.

Counselor: "Falling back, Director."

"Of course he would agree, the snake." Weiss huffed.

"The director is just abandoning his agents, you'd think he'd at least care about his 'valuable assets'." Blake scathed.

"..they're also leaving C.T." Ruby pointed out.

"What no she l- oh right they don't know that." Jaune gasped. "I- well there's nothing they can do. They can't go looking for her."

"Yeah so.. it's the same for the director. He can't really wait on them." Ruby explained. "To be fair to the director."

Weiss, Jaune, and Pyrrha pondered her words.

"To be fair." Weiss nodded. Pyrrha and Jaune continued to shake their heads.

The Mother of Invention turns to leave. Cut to the Freelancers

Carolina: "Go! Go! Go!"

The Freelancers increase their jet pack speed and head toward the dropship. Cut to the inside

Four Seven Niner: "Get inside now!"

The dropship opens it's rear bay and all of the Freelancers, except Wash, get in. As the Freelancers look out they notice Wash

"Something's wrong." Blake frowned.

York: "Wash, what are you doing? Get in here, use your jet pack."

Wash: "I-I don't wanna end up like Georgia!"

Blake let out a sigh and laughed, "Now Washington wouldn't have hesitated. He has changed so much."

"For better or worse." Ren hummed.

Carolina: "Oh for God's sake…"

Carolina shoots her grappling hook at Washington's cod piece.

Wash: "Huh? AHHH!"

Ruby, Nora, and Yang giggled.

Blake facepalmed and groaned. "Why? He deserves more dignity."

Yang laughed, "What dignity? It's all gone now."

"She's pulling from the groin." Jaune joked.

Blake laughed, "Maybe that's why he refused to try with Doc. That had to have been embarrassing."

Wash gets slowly pulled towards the ship. Carolina yanks the grappling hook in order to lead Wash inside the Pelican. Carolina manages to pull Wash inside with Wash hitting the Pelican's ceiling and ground in the process. The Pelican's rear bay doors close and it jets off. Cut to the nuclear bomb slowly drifting into a piece of scrap metal. On contact it explodes and the Pelican is seen escaping the explosion.

Nora rolled her eyes, "What? Pressure sensitive bomb? That's the worst kind to use in that situation."

"What? It's smart isn't it? They're in a junkyard, it has plenty of objects to hit." Jaune pointed out.

"Yeah and it's random!" She explained. "I like random but a better bomb could have been timed, or a proximity detonated bomb, blowing up as soon as the ship left a certain range. That way they wouldn't need to rely on it bumping into random trash."

"You're the expert." Pyrrha praised, Nora beamed.

Cut to the inside of the Pelican.

Four Seven Niner: "Everyone okay back there?"

York (sarcastically): "Never better, thanks for asking."

Weiss chuckled lightly.

Director (over radio): "What the hell just happened people? Tell me you accomplished your mission."

Carolina(over radio): "Negative sir, their leader escaped."

North Dakota: "Well, looks like the enemy lives to fight another day."

South Dakota: "Again."

"That's how I felt every time Torchwick escaped." Ruby grumbled.

"Me too." Blake hissed.

Director (over radio): "That is most unfortunate. Are all agents accounted for?"

The Freelancers look around

Carolina: "All except C.T., sir. She's gone."

Director (over radio): "Define 'gone,' agent."

The screen cuts to black.

Blake frowned, "It sounds like he suspected her."

"She wasn't very secretive with how little she trusted the project." Ren pointed out.

"And she had conversations with the leader on public terminals." Weiss added.

"Brown hair me could have been a little more discreet, but discreet isn't my way." Nora grinned.

I don't think there was much for them to react to this episode.

The next season 14 episodes will probably be 21 and 22.

Thanks for all the love and support! Love the suggestions, long reviews, comments, flames, complaints, etc. I WILL be doing the red vs blue death battle... unless it sucks.
