Chapter 28: Red and Green

A/N Red and green, the color of Christmas. Too bad that was last month. My sense of timing is awful. Enjoy and please leave a review.

The Man:
Rising the sword high above my head, waiting for Atrocitus to be within range, I look the bastard right in his glowing yellow eyes. His stare meeting my, I begin to sense something. Something unexpected.

Changing tactics, I change the sword into a spear and pull back my arm. Putting out my other arm, my fingers spread apart, I aim the spear at a beta flyer following Atrocitus. Tossing it with all my might, the spear shot through the sky with a sonic boom, flying right past Artocitus and through the beta flyer, not only destroying it but also a few behind it. Atrocitus in return then shot right past me, destroying a flyer about to crash into me.

"You're helping me," I ask, hovering around as more flyers, and even a few yellow lanterns join in.

"Yes I am, Green Lantern," he growls, his red glow glowing brighter and both blinding and burning me slightly.

"Can I ask why or should I just shut up and fight," I say, now summoning forth a bow and quiver full of arrows.

"I am on a quest," Artocitus replies, "For a powerful ally who is rumored to have more than match his own with the last son of krypton! He had freed the last daughter of krypton, blown up Superman's Watchtower, and even made the betas fight for him! Maybe you have heard of him. Rumors tell that he is here on Oa!"

"Nope," I say, "But while you're on the matter of 'Oa', can I ask how you entered? We Green Lanterns have a force field around the planet."

"I entered when the beta flyers did! They combined their powers into a single beam and fired it at the force field! In a matter of minutes, they were through!"

"Hmm. I really should take a look at the force field later."

The yellow lanterns finally noticing us, I nudge Artocitus and point at them.

"Later. Now big, red and ugly, take your picks. Weakling yellow lanterns or annoying betas?"

"I choose weakling yellow lanterns," Artocitus says, raising his ring and encasing himself in the body of a bull. Stampeding toward the yellow lanterns, I look toward the beta flyers.

My swords still slicing and dicing through them, I see a small group of them heading toward the Guardians' meeting room. Readying an arrow, I sent it sailing toward the group. Once in the center, I focus my mind to make the arrow explode, the beta flyers disappearing into a massive cloud of green smoke

Kara:
"Come on," I say, punching the bubble we are trapped in. "Come on! Come on!"

"It won't work," Barry replies, turning back to me. "I tried but I can't phase through this!"

Trying one more time, Barry places his hands on the bubble. Vibrating now, his hands turning into red blur, he pushes against the bubble. The bubble however, pushes back with green sparks that knock Barry back.

"This had to break," I reply. "Come on! We saw Kal-El break through Hal's concertation before!"

"Yeah I imagine," Leonard says, his arms crossed and back against the bubble. "You saw your cousin break through your friend's 'concertation' but may I remind you, this isn't Hal's concertation. It's Sunglasses, and quite frankly, I think his will is a bit stronger than Hal."

"Why aren't you helping," I say, turning to him. Turning back to the bubble, I use my laser vision and focus on one spot. Putting everything I had into the lasers, I drop to the ground seconds later, exhausted. Oliver and Dinah catching me in time, I look back up, only to see a bit of fading smokes.

"That answers your question," Leonard jokes. "If you can't even make a tiny hole in this thing with your laser vision, what hope does my cold gun have?"

"What about your canary cry," I ask Dinah. "Maybe it can burst this bubble?"

"It could," Dinah replies, "But before it does, it could also kill all of us. I'm sorry Kara, but I can't."

"Dammit," I say, turning back to the bubble and punching it over and over again. "I don't get it! Why did he do this! We could have help him!"

"What does 'the man' do anything," Barry says, falling back and crossing his arms. "Why did he trapped us in here? Why wouldn't he just tell Lobo his name instead of putting us all in danger? Why can he uses a green lantern ring, one that doesn't even belong to him?"

"Who are you playing 20 questions with," Leonard asks.

"I have more than 20 questions when it comes to 'the man," Barry says, "Starting with what the hell his name is! What is so specials about his name that he won't tell us!"

"It's a secret identify thing 'Flash'."

"There's a secret identify and just being a son of a-"

All of us screaming as the bubble disperse, we all drop onto the deck of the ship.

"Was that you," Pamela asks, helping Leonard up.

"No," I say, getting myself up. "No, I don't think so."

"Well," Harleen starts, "If that wasn't you then it had to be Sunglasses, but wait, the only reason the bubble would burst is if he-"

"Losing concentration," I say, quickly flying away.
