On Godric's Hollow, Albus sits alone in meditation.
Albus. My failure this was. Failed the Aurors I did.
Suddenly, he hears a familiar voice ― the voice of Remus Lupin.
Ghost. Do not blame yourself, old friend.
Albus. Too old I was. Too rigid. Too arrogant to see that the old way is not the only way. These Aurors I trained to become the Aurors who had trained me, long centuries ago — but those ancient Aurors of a different time they were. Changed has the galaxy. Changed the Order did not — because let it change I did not.
Ghost. More easily said than done, my friend.
Albus. An infinite mystery is the Magic. Much to learn there still is.
Ghost. And you will have time to learn it.
Albus. Infinite knowledge . . . [shakes his head] Infinite time does that require.
Ghost. With my help, you can learn to join with the Magic, yet retain consciousness. You can join your light to it forever. Perhaps, in time, even your physical self.
Albus. Eternal life . . .
Ghost. The ultimate goal of the Death Eaters, yet they can never achieve it. It comes only by the release of self, not the exaltation of self. It comes through compassion, not greed. Love is the answer to the darkness.
Albus. Become one with the Magic, yet influence still to have . . . A power greater than all it is.
Ghost. It cannot be granted. It can only be taught. It is yours to learn, if you wish it.
Albus. A very great Auror Master you have become, Remus Lupin. A very great Auror Master you always were. But too blind I was to see it. [inclines his head] Your apprentice I gratefully become.
Enter Granger.
Granger. Excuse me. Master Albus.
Albus opens his eyes and turns to face Granger.
Sirius Black has made contact.
Exit Albus
Granger meets Sirius, Percy, and Hedwig at the landing platform. Sirius holds Lily.
We'll take her to the hospital wing. Quickly.
Exit all.
