Chapter 29: Restoring Order

Albus was sitting in his office with his limbs trembling in fear and anticipation of Amelia arriving with some aurors. He was also in shock as to how Amelia made it in time and had Dolores arrested before she could do the same to Harry. Dumbledore's fears were proven true as soon as he heard a knock at the door. Reluctantly, the headmaster waved his hand to open the door and clear enough, Amelia and some of the aurors marched their way into the office. Even the school governors arrived to give Dumbledore some choice words themselves.

"Albus Dumbledore," Amelia began chastising. "What have you got to say for yourself?"

"For what, Amelia?" Dumbledore replied. "I have no idea what…"

"I think you do, Albus," Amelia snapped, interrupting the headmaster in the process. "We had a nice chat with Lord Potter and his friends, where they took turns explaining what all had been going on. Even Mr. Diggory and Miss Chang told me about how they were informed to have been getting drugged with illegal potions brewed up by Miss Weasley, Miss Edgecombe, Miss Vane, Mr. Nott and Mr. Smith. Some of the information on the illegal potion brewing was told by Lord Potter and Miss Davis, as they witnessed those particular students planning on brewing more. Worst still, Lord Potter also informed me of his hostage for the second task being Miss Ginevra Weasley and how it was for that crazy plan of yours called the Greater Good."

"Miss Weasley offered to be Harry's hostage to rescue," Dumbledore argued. "You'll have to talk that one over with her."

"Oh, I will be doing just that," Amelia told the headmaster, in a no-more-nonsense tone of voice. "Once she and her partners in crime are caught and arrested. I would instruct you to send other teachers the message to be on the lookout for those students, but I did warn you that interfering with Harry's life again would result in retaliation for you. This is the final straw, Albus, so I must ask you to place your hands behind your back, so we can take you into custody."

Albus reluctantly got up and did as instructed. Kingsley placed the soon-to-be former headmaster in magic suppression handcuffs and read him his rights.

"And don't think Minerva will be next in line to be the headmistress, Albus," Amelia firmly told him. "Harry also told me everything as to what she was also doing, such as mindlessly obeying your instructions, allowing him to face bullying and abusive treatment, dismissing his suspicions that there was danger around the corner, leaving him to do tasks that should've been for the teachers and staff, and unjustly punishing the innocent ones while allowing culprits to get away with their actions. Minerva will be getting arrested, too."

"Yes, Albus," the head governor informed Dumbledore. "I will be searching for a more suitable headmaster or headmistress. I have the whole weekend to look, so hopefully I'll find someone to take the job before the weekend is over."

Two of the aurors began leading Albus to outside the wards surrounding the castle to apparate him to the ministry and place him in a holding cell to await trial. Amelia, the school governors (including the head governor), and the few remaining aurors accompanying her left the headmaster's office and over to Professor McGonagall's classroom to confront and arrest her, too. It didn't take very long to reach the transfiguration classroom door and when they arrived, Amelia knocked on the door. The stern head of Gryffindor House answered the door and developed a shocked expression on her face to see Amelia there with some of the aurors.

"Amelia!" Professor McGonagall greeted in a shocked voice. "What may I do for you?"

"You got yourself into hot water, Minerva," Amelia told the transfiguration teacher. "Your devotion to Albus has cost you alot more than Harry's respect. We'll have to haul you over to the ministry to question your involvement in Albus' plan for the Greater Good."

"For now, Minerva," the head governor informed her. "You'll be on suspension. If any charges are pressed against you, you'll be dismissed from your positions as head of Gryffindor House, deputy head, and transfiguration teacher."

Realizing that she bit off more than she could chew, Minerva willingly put her hands behind her back before being placed in magic suppression handcuffs. Then she was led away to be taken into ministry custody. Amelia asked the governors to alert the other teachers and staff to be on the lookout for Ginny, Marietta, Romilda, Zacharias and Theo, and to inform them if any of those students get spotted in the corridors. Meanwhile, Andi finally made it to the entrance to the Slytherin common room. Once she was in, she called all of her students into the common room. As soon as they were seated, Andi began pacing from one side of the room to the other with her hands behind her back several times before stopping to face her students.

"Do any of you have an explanation as to why the potion ingredients in my personal stores have disappeared?" Andi addressed her students in a serious tone of voice.

"No, professor!" chorused the Slytherin students.

"I see. I will warn you all only once, my personal store has been charmed with extra security wards and anybody who tries…" Andi began warning. But then she looked around and saw that Theo was the only Slytherin to be absent and asked. "Where is Mr. Nott?"

"He could be anywhere, professor," said Daphne. "I don't think he's been seen for two or three days."

"Thank you, Miss Greengrass." said Andi in a grateful voice. Then she told all of the other Slytherins. "If any of you spot Mr. Nott, please inform him to report to my office."

Most of the Slytherin students nodded their heads obediently. Then Andi turned around and left the common room to return to her office. On the way, she crossed Amelia's path. The head of the DMLE informed Andi about Albus and Minerva having been arrested and how the school governors were trying to look for a new headmaster or headmistress and a new deputy head. Then Amelia told Andi about five students (including Theo) having been brewing up illegal potions.

"Mr. Nott's absence didn't go unnoticed when I went to ask my students if any of them had an explanation as to how some of the potion ingredients in my personal store disappeared," Andi told Amelia. "Mr. Nott being a part of a conspiracy to brew illegal potions with help from Miss Weasley, Miss Edgecombe, Miss Vane and Mr. Smith does seem to make sense as to why he was absent."

"I did inform the governors, teachers and other staff to be on the lookout for those five students," said Amelia. "And if they are spotted to notify the DMLE as soon as possible. The head governor did say that he would inform the students at lunchtime to also keep their eyes out for those five students."

Amelia left to return to the ministry while Andi returned to her classroom to grade assignments. Upon her return to the ministry, Amelia headed over to Arthur's office in the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts office in the DMLE. Once she informed the Weasley patriarch of his only daughter conspiring with four other students to brew illegal potions, Arthur looked as though he would blow his top. Very rarely would he ever get as mad as his wife and whenever that happened, his children would cower and/or keep their distance (as that meant that they did something so terribly wrong). After Amelia left to return to her office, Arthur floo-called his wife at home and informed her as to what Ginny had been doing and how he was getting suspicious that she was going to be skipping classes to keep doing what she was doing. Molly's anger got to the point where it was like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

'I thought I made it clear to Ginny to quit living in that fantasy!' thought Molly in outrage, once the fire call with her husband ended. 'Brewing up illegal potions and skipping classes to help four others in that and drug certain students, mainly Harry? She knows better than to think that Harry would be happy with being drugged. I will support whatever punishment she eventually gets.'

Lunchtime at Hogwarts finally arrived and everyone filed into the Great Hall. The students had confused expressions on their faces to see the head governor sitting in the headmaster's chair up at the staff table and McGonagall's chair empty. Once everybody was in the Great Hall, the head governor stood up to address everybody.

"Attention, everybody!" he announced, then silence filled the Great Hall. "Thank you! Now you're all probably wondering what is going on and why your headmaster and transfiguration teacher are absent. Earlier today, Professors Dumbledore and McGonagall were arrested for crimes committed against Lord Potter, and for years of endangerment to the school by ignoring suspicions and leaving Lord Potter to deal with it. So we'll be looking around for a new headmaster or headmistress, as well as a new deputy head and a new transfiguration teacher, until then lessons will be put on hold. I'd like to announce that Remus Lupin has kindly accepted the position of head of Gryffindor House."

Most of the student body began clapping their hands in applause as Remus stood up and bowed before everyone. Aside from Harry and his friends applauding the loudest, Sirius, Andi, and even Hagrid were the same way. Once Remus sat back down, silence filled the room again.

"I have one more thing to tell you," the head governor resumed his announcement. "It has also come to ours' and the attention of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement that five students are guilty of brewing up illegal potions and have already drugged Miss Cho Chang and Mr. Cedric Diggory with the potions, and are planning to drug Lord Potter with the same ones. If your names are Miss Ginevra Weasley, Miss Marietta Edgecombe, Miss Romilda Vane, Mr. Zacharias Smith, and Mr. Theodore Nott, approach me and follow me to the headmaster's office at once."

The five students in discussion weren't even in the Great Hall. The adults up at the staff table darted their eyes around the Great Hall to find the five students, only to find that they weren't anywhere in sight.

"Well, if anybody sees those five students," the head governor alerted the students in the Great Hall. "Notify a teacher and find a way to make sure they can't escape, so a teacher can get to the student and escort them to the headmaster's office. I will be acting as temporary headmaster for now until another one can be found."

Soon, the food and gallons of iced pumpkin juice appeared on the tables. The five truant students brewing illegal potions were still in their abandoned classroom located in a remote part of the castle where students and teachers hardly wandered. As Theo, Zacharias and Romilda continued brewing up the hate potions, loyalty potions, Felix Felicis, and Amortentia, Ginny and Marietta were working on their newly thought-of Forever After potion (which was blue in colour).

"How is that Forever After potion going?" Theo asked Marietta.

"Tough, but Ginny and I have been making some wonderful progress," Marietta informed Theo, before the two started kissing each other. Then she told him the rest. "As long as it's successful, my plan to sneak it into Cedric's drinks while Ginny sneaks her's into Potter's will be a snap."

"Potter won't see this coming." said Zacharias with arrogance in his voice.

"My Harry will finally see how much we're meant to be," Ginny professed. "The Forever After potion will make it easier. He just needs a little help to realize it."

"What if it doesn't work on him?" Romilda replied. "Harry is one powerful wizard after all! I remember hearing about him resisting the Imperius Curse."

"The Forever After potion will be impossible to resist," Marietta reminded Romilda. "Ginny and I will make damn sure of that."

"That's right," Ginny told Romilda. "Marie and I won't give up until we're certain it can't be resisted."

"If only Draco hadn't been expelled and arrested," Theo ranted. "He'd probably come up with something to help in the Forever After potion."

"Since he isn't here to help us, it's up to us now," said Ginny. "We'll just have to do the best we can."

The five truant students continued on brewing their intended potions. Since they had no idea that Dumbledore and McGonagall were arrested, they were all cool and calm in confidence that their plans would work. Ginny and Marietta were especially unaware that their plans were on the verge of ultimately backfiring. The five also had no idea that they were also declared fugitives and that if they were to leave their classroom, they were going to be taken to the headmaster's office and then face the DMLE coming to arrest them for their crimes.

To be continued!
