Chapter 58:
Johto's Visitor
With Team Galactic becoming an even bigger threat than ever, I knew it would be a good time to sort out some moves. This would be the main emphasis of my training today, remembering Looker's advice in keeping out of Galactic's affairs.
First things first, I wanted to get rid of Cut from Drifblim. It's a terrible move so I could just catch something else and teach it that if needs necessary. I'm not gonna see anymore blocking trees, so no point in keeping it. There is one person who can help me.
Canalave City is home to the Move Deleter, who can get rid of any moves, including HM moves which usually couldn't be forgotten.
"Hello" said the Move Deleter when I knocked on his door. He was wearing a tuxedo and looked mid 50s. "Let me guess; you're here to forget a move."
I sent out Drifblim. "We're here to forget Cut. You ready Drifblim?"
Drifblim seemed determined; clearly it found Cut to be as useless as I found it.
The Move Deleter walked over to Drifblim and stared waving his arms around. He looked like a looney, but I trusted him because everyone else did. You probably need magic powers to do what he does.
"HAH!" he yelled. "Cut is no more!"
Drifblim tried to use Cut, but it couldn't. It wasn't sad though; now we could learn something stronger!
Next stop, Pastoria City!
It was hard to believe that this place was in a lockdown not too long ago. Now everyone was bustling, talking to each other and living the normal life. It felt like the Galactic attack was a decade ago, not a month.
"Come on out Piloswine!" I shouted, sending out my Ice Type. I then went into my Bag and got out the Heart Scale. "Looker told me to teach you Ancient Power. Not sure why that specifically, but we should listen to him."
Piloswine seemed down for it. It jumped up and down, though not very high. I rubbed its fur, when I noticed a girl in the distance. She had blue dungarees, a white hat with a red bow on it and she had a Marill with her. As I looked at her, she looked away from me. I didn't let it bother me.
"Welcome to my place!" said the Move Reminder. He was a Collector, similar to the pair from the Cabin outside Solaceon Town. "I can help your Pokémon remember moves that they may have forgotten about! Do you want some help with it?"
Piloswine nodded for me as I got out my Heart Scale. "I want Piloswine to learn Ancient Power."
"Very well." The Reminder stood up. "Piloswine, let's start off by thinking of the ancient times. Ancient Power is one of the oldest moves recorded, so you need to think about what life millions of years ago would be like." Piloswine closed its eyes. Well, at least I thought it was. I couldn't actually see its eyes as they're covered by its fur.
"What are you thinking about Piloswine?"
A small ball of energy formed in front of Piloswine. Was that it?
"Okay Piloswine, Ancient Power!" However, the energy turned into ice, which it then shot at a wall, freezing it on impact. "Ice Shard" I said sadly.
"Relax. These are weird kinds of moves that a Pokémon has not learned yet, moves that can only be learned with Heart Scales. They aren't easy to teach. Keep at it though. How about we practice outside? There is no room in this house."
As we walked out, we were greeted by that girl in the hat from earlier. She seemed a lot more open than the shy person I thought I saw earlier.
"What can I do for you?" I asked.
"Hello!" she said happily. "My names Lyra!"
"I'm Lucas. Look, we are kind of busy right now."
"Well Lenny, I'm looking for someone so could you help me find him?"
"It's Lucas actually."
Lyra didn't seem to care. "Oh also, I need to be taught a new move." She got out a Heart Scale. "You see, I had an Eevee that evolved into an Umbreon . I was happy for it but it evolved a little too late to learn Faint Attack." She sent out a quadruped black Pokémon with yellow rings all around its body.
Umbreon
168
Dark Type
Moonlight Pokémon
Region of origin: Johto
3'03" (1 m)
59.5 lbs (27 kg)
When exposed to the moon's aura, the rings on its body glow faintly and it gains a mysterious power.
Eevee -Happiness at night-time- Umbreon
"I'm busy with Lucas at the moment" the Reminder told her. "Come back later, and I'll be more than happy to help!"
Lyra seemed a bit disappointed, but understood. I assured her I would find her again when I found who she was looking for, whoever it was. "I'll be back them, I promise!"
"Let's try again" the Reminder told me.
Piloswine once again started generating energy in front of its tusks. "Keep at it Piloswine!" However, the energy was once again starting to freeze over. "Piloswine no, you're using Ice Shard again!" Piloswine started panicking. It shot the frozen Ancient Power to early. It just fell on the ground and disappeared in a poof.
"Hmm. We need to keep it up" the Move Reminder said. "One more time!"
"Piloswine, Ancient Power!" When the energy appeared this time, Piloswine panicked and fired it early. Out of control, it was fired at a teenager in black, yellow and red clothes.
"LOOK OUT!" I yelled.
Thankfully, he noticed the checking up on him. Our attention was drawn to the tree, which had been completely frozen over.
"May I help?" he asked. "Maybe with aim? Ha ha ha!"
As he joked about, I got a good look of his face. I rubbed my eyes; were they deceiving me? Was it, the Champion of the Indigo Plateau?
"Ethan… Schneider?" I asked him.
"The one and only!" he said. "Though I was almost the frozen Ethan Schneider."
I need to repeat; I didn't know if I was dreaming. It's not everyday you meet a Champion.
"Why are you here?" I asked. "Surely you must be doing your duties back in Kanto."
"Vacation" he told me, though he was a bit shaky as he said this. I imagined it was from almost freezing, or was it something else? "I… want to see what Sinnoh has to offer. I'm also here to see my friend."
"I'm Lucas. I'm trying to become Champion of Sinnoh, and take down Team Galactic. Right now though, I'm trying to teach my Piloswine Ancient Power. Wanna see a demonstration?"
Ethan looked at the brown furry Pokémon. "Sure, but I think I'll stand behind it this time."
Ethan got into position, and so did I . "Okay, watch this. Piloswine, Ancient Power!" Piloswine's energy started appearing again. "Okay, fire!" Piloswine fired it at a tree from before. We ran over to see the damage.
It was covered by another layer of ice.
"We can do it by the end of the day" the Reminder promised. "After all, we have the Indigo Champion helping us!"
Ethan gave him an awkward look. "Someone's insistent. I never agreed to it."
We all sighed. What an opportunity, not gonna happen.
"Hey, when did I say no?! Of course I'll help!"
I smiled. I was being lectured by a Champion!
"If I may" he said, sending out a white feathery Flying Type with red and blue spots all over..
Togekiss
175
Normal/Flying Type
Jubilee Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
4'11" (1.5 m)
83.8 lbs (38 kg)
It shares many blessings with people who respect ones another's rights and avoid needless strife.
Togepi -Happiness- Togetic -Shiny Stone- Togekiss
"Togekiss, Ancient Power!" Togekiss formed the energy in front of it. It then fired it at the frozen tree, smashing it to pieces as we all applauded.
"Just focus on the right move" the Reminder told me.
"Okay Piloswine, give it another go!" Piloswine once again started focusing its energy. The Ancient Power came into formation as I could feel the energy of millions of years gone by surround it. "Fire it!" Piloswine fired the Ancient Power at another tree; it was obliterated. "Piloswine you learned Ancient Power!" I hugged Piloswine tightly. "Congratulations!"
"So, Lucas is your name right?" Ethan asked me. "Lucas… Pratt?!"
I stepped back in shock. "How… do you know my surname?"
"Come to the Pokémon Centre, then we'll talk."
"EVANDER!" Lyra came running over to us. "I just knew that you would come and visit me!" Before running to him, she noticed all of us. "Oh, I guess you found him before I did!"
So this is who Lyra was looking for. Who'd of thought it would be one of the biggest celebrities in the Pokémon World?
"Everyone, this is Lyra" Ethan said. "She's a personal friend of mine that lives here."
I did need to explain to Lyra that we were now going to have a personal meeting.
"Oh, okay. I had so many plans" she said sadly. "You know, do everything you can in Sinnoh. Go to the Great Marsh, check out some Ruins, maybe even do a Super Contest."
"We'll do whatever you want after I've done what I need to do. Until then, I need to have a very important talk with Lucas." We slowly walked away, before Lucas turned back to Lyra. "Well? You're in this to right?"
Lyra's face beamed. "Really?!"
"But please take this seriously" he told her.
"Okay. Laaaa, la la. Laaa la la la. Laaa la la. La la la la!" she sang as she skipped to the Pokémon Center with us. "Meet you there! Ooh this is exciting!"
Me, Lyra and Ethan went to the Pokémon Center Hotel Room to have a talk about what was going on and why exactly Ethan had visited.
"This is why I'm here" Ethan said, getting out a piece of paper with a yellow G on it. He was going to ask me about it, but clearly, he knew about my relationship with them.
"Are you here to stop them?" I asked. "The more the merrier."
Ethan thought about it for a minute. "Hmm, no."
I was taken aback by this. "Nonsense! I've been instructed by Looker and a few friends to take them down! A Champion helping could really go a long way with beating Team Galactic!"
There was a knock at the door. "Housekeeping?" It sounded feminine, but it also, didn't. Something felt off about it.
"Not at the moment!" I yelled back. "Anyway, if you want to be a part of this, that would be brilliant! Don't make this a solo mission."
Another knock. "Housekeeping?"
Frustrated, I got up and swung the door open. "I said no."
The woman in standard hotel attire came in. "Well, this room is pretty messy. Please close the door whilst I clean."
I reluctantly let her in, clearly stressed. "Make it quick. We're in a meeting, a confidential one at that."
The woman grinned. "I know you are." She flung off her clothes revealing the brown coated ally. "And I'd want in!"
"Looker!" I shouted, but then remembered that I needed to keep my voice down, so I started whispering as I closed the door. "Aren't you supposed to be in Veilstone City looking for the Key?"
"If I was still looking for the Key, I would be in Veilstone City. But I'm not looking anymore." From his pocket, Looker took out a card. "This is for the Galactic Storage. I believe the Key to the HQ is in there."
I held out my hand, expecting Looker to give it to me, but Looker took it away again.
"Not here" he said. "It will be to obvious. Which is why I also nabbed these."
From a rucksack he was carrying, he pulled out three sets of Team Galactic uniforms. One for me, one for Ethan and the one Looker was wearing when I first met him at Valor Lakefront. I was surprised to know that the blue hair from Team Galactic wasn't done that way; they were in fact wigs! "
"Nice idea!" I said. "We're gonna get stealthy! Wait, how do you know about the third one? Did you know Ethan was coming?"
Looker shook his head. "This was saved for Barry, but he hasn't returned from the Veilstone Building. I was going to ask you to deliver it, but I feel Ethan would be a crucial ally."
"Hey, let's try them on!" Ethan told me. "It'll be fun, and we will see if they fit!"
We did just that. They were a little tight, not how I imagine a spaceman would dress. How Team Galactic could move about in these all the time, I wasn't sure.
"This'll work" Ethan said. "I've infiltrated enemy territory in uniform before."
"What about me?" Lyra asked. She had only just noticed no suit for her.
"I'm afraid little miss that the sizes are a bit too big for you" Looker informed. "But, you can help. Maybe keep watch from a distance at the HQ. You're Umbreon when it gets Faint Attack will be very strong, you can take them down!"
Lyra seemed disappointed, but she understood. "Okay, I'll happily watch from the side-lines!"
"As for us" I told Ethan. "How about a battle? Just a 1 on 1. It would be an honour."
Ethan got a Pokéball at the ready. "Meet you outside dude."
After getting changed (Pastoria has basically suffered PTSD from the Galactic attack, best not dress up as them), we stood in formation. A crowd gathered around us to witness our match. Start!
"Go Empoleon!" I shouted.
"I choose Golem!" Ethan said, sending out a round Pokémon made of slates. It was two arms sticking out with claws at the end.
Golem
033
Rock/Ground Type
Megaton Pokémon
Region of origin: Kanto
4'07" (1.4 m)
661.4 lbs (300 kg)
It sheds its hide once a year. Its boulderlike body is so tough, even dynamite can't harm it.
Geodude -Lv 25- Graveler -Trade- Golem
"Golem, Earthquake!" Golem jumped and made the entire ground shake. Miraculously, it missed.
"Surf Empoleon!" Empoleon summoned a large wave that swamped Golem. Despite a clear Type advantage, Golem was fine. There was a huge level difference after all.
"Golem, Dynamic Punch!" Golem punched Empoleon. Empoleon was knocked bac far, fainting it.
The crowd cheered for Ethan as I recalled Empoleon. I then shook hands with my new ally.
"We leave first thing in the morning" I said into his ear. "We will practically run to Veilstone City, get changed at the outskirts and then infiltrate HQ."
Tomorrow would be my biggest mission yet, but now I have a Champion on my side!
