For the charm I made up for this fanfiction, I kinda just google translated the word rainbow, I hope that works for everyone.

Percy POV:

"Hey, Percy," Ginny asked. "Where's Hermione? I thought she'd be at breakfast by now," It was morning at the Great Hall, sunlight shining through the windows as students each sat at their respected tables eating with one another. Chatter was filling the halls as usual, yet it seemed somewhat muffled in a way as if people were scared to talk too much about it. "I don't know," I replied, tossing the scrambled eggs on my eggs back and forth. "We were stopped by Dumbledore on our way here, he wanted to talk to her." He probably needed her to get that thing he wanted from Harry since the owner is unable to leave the hospital wing.

"Really?" Ginny asked. "Well, she'll probably come down sooner or later."

"Yeah,"

It was at least 10 minutes later when Hermione did come back, her eyebrows knitted as if she was pondering something. "Hey, Hermione!" I waved her over, letting her take the space next to me. "So, what did Dumbledore want to talk to you about?"

She opened her mouth but soon closed it shaking her head. "No, it's nothing. Just to check up on some things, don't worry so much," I nodded my head and finished what was left of my breakfast. "Okay,"

That day, we were learning a new charm. "Eritque arcus!" Professor Flitwick called. He waved his wand from one side to another, creating an arching shape which was soon followed by the colours of a rainbow. I widened my eyes, making brief eye contact with Nico. Most other students, however, didn't seem to share our enthusiasm, probably thinking it was a useless spell or such. Behind me, there was even a black-haired girl with a heavy jaw who snorted. Professor Flitwick didn't seem to mind, explaining how the charm was only recently made by Proffesor Dumbledore, so we should pay attention in class since we had no references in our textbooks.

Next to that black-haired girl who snorted, a pug faced student wearing the same green robes as Nico waved a hand in the air, her nose scrunching up as she spoke, annoyance clear in her voice. "What is Dumbledore doing? Making stupid rainbow spells? What rubbish! I thought he was supposed to be some sort of almighty wizard, he should spend more time on this virus case than doing something as utterly useless as this!"

Hearing this, around the classroom, several students began to nod their heads in agreement, whispers being passed back and forth amongst classmates. Flitwick slightly furrowed his brows, a small frown forming on his face. "It's Professor Dumbledore, Miss Parkinson. He only created this spell shortly after the start of this school year before this virus appeared. I just haven't taught it to you yet, because there were others you had to learn. I assure you, he as the headmaster along with all the other professors are doing the best we can through these tough times. It would be admirable if you could show more appreciation for the hard work we are all putting in,"

The Slytherin girl distastefully scrunched her nose even further, however, didn't make any more snide comments. A student next to her raised a hand and asked. "Pardon me, professor, but what use is this charm? It doesn't help in any way possible in duelling or our daily lives. It doesn't even compare to the red sparks charm! Is just for...looking pretty?"

"A spell that doesn't have the same uses as others doesn't mean that it's completely unnecessary to learn," Flitwick said, then joked. "Who knows, maybe one day you want to do something special for your girlfriend, and you can use this charm as you toss flowers in the air for her!" He laughed half-heartedly before proceeding to show us the proper movements and actions to perform the charm, soon letting us practise on our own. It was a pretty simple spell, but silly enough, soon caused some small contests to break out in the classroom. At the start of the class, most had been unenthusiastic towards learning the charm, but after most got the hang of it, things escalated into competitions on who would make bigger rainbows! How ridiculous was that?

As long as you could create some of a rainbow, then you'd be considered successful at performing the charm however, the longer and bigger you tried to make it likewise, the more difficult it would be. Most times, when the other students in our class attempted making rainbows that were as long as their arms and as wide as an open hand, their rainbow would completely vanish half-way, leaving only a pale seven-coloured start.

My final class of the day was Care of Magical Creatures, though when entering the area, Hermione and I noticed something was wrong. Hagrid was sitting on the floor looking thoroughly dejected, a large frown on his face. It looked as if he were to burst out crying if you said the wrong words. We rushed over, asking him what was wrong before he pursed his lips. "We can't spend time with creatures until the virus is over!" He said, in an almost bawl like state. "An' who knows when that'll be!"

"Slow down, Hagrid," Hermione said. "What do you mean we can't spend time with creatures?"

"Well, I'm still allowed to feed 'em an' stuff," He confessed. "But no classes with them. Poppy was lookin' through diff'rent poss'bilities of the virus and said it's possible that a creature could've trans-sumthing it over. I denied it, of course, an' understand why she's so cautious. However, until this virus is solved, I'm not allowed to allow you to contact 'em at all!"

"That's disappointing," I remarked.

"It is!"

I leaned to one side, whispering to Nico and Annabeth who had soon arrived. "Do you think this means we'll have to write papers in this class?" Nico glanced at me before shrugging his shoulders. "Percy," Annabeth gave a light tap on my shoulder before she beckoned me to follow her and Nico to a more secluded space in the area. Hermione looked up briefly. "Where are you all going?"

"Nowhere!" I replied before heading off towards Annabeth. "We just like to hear on that side of the area than this side, don't worry, we pay attention in class!"
