Adam flinched, tossed and turned in his sleep. The dream he was having was a nasty one. It was when he bested Lucretia only when he killed her, he saw darkness seep out of the ground enveloping Lucretia's body before forming into a set of black armor with a demonic appearance to it. A set of black decaying bat wings erupted from it's back before the eye sockets in the helmet of the armor flashed to life.

"Darkness rises and light shall dim!"

Adam woke with a start sweating bullets as he clutched his covers and settled his wings from instantly opening.

"What a nightmare.", he muttered before getting out of bed and noticing the clock on the nearby table, "And it's almost six in the morning. Then again Limbo doesn't have a specific time here so I'm just guessing."

As he got to the door, it opened to reveal Thrash in his pajama bottoms and holding a toothbrush and glass of water passing but looking at him a bit confused.

"Adam you okay dude?", Thrash asked, "You look like you've seen a ghost."

Adam quickly slapped on a straight face.

"Sorry. I just...I had a nightmare that really..rattled me."

"Well, I hope it's not too severe.", Thrash said looking assuring, "I'm just about to go get my teeth brushed before we start our day. You coming?"

Adam smiled.

"Yeah just give me a minute to-"

He snapped his fingers and his pajamas became his shirt, pants and shoes.

"Get my clothes on.", he finished.

Thrash almost dropped his water and brush.

"When did you get your powers back?"

Adam shrugged.

"I don't know. Maybe they were just resting a bit before I could use them again."

Theo materialized nearby.

"Actually, that was me.", he said startling Thrash and Adam slightly, "You're going to need them for your next mission. And Adam's nightmare was a clue."

He warped away leaving Thrash and Adam a bit befuddled.

"Well, this is going to be quite a day.", Adam said getting a bit worried.

/

A while later, the others had gathered in the mess hall for breakfast, but while most ate, Derek and Rosie's kids were more in awe of Adam having his saurian powers again.

"So Theo restored your power and your nightmare was about Lucretia and some armor?", Wildwing asked as he finished eating his eggs.

Canard looked thoughtful.

"Hmm, sounds like Abyssal has an issue on it's hands."

"Another domain?", Mallory guessed.

Canard nodded.

"I'm afraid so. And one of the darkest besides Nether Void."

"So there's other domains of darkness besides Malevolence's?", Duke asked.

"More like a dimensional afterlife.", Canard explained, "When souls fall in Dimensional Limbo, they get sent to one of three afterlives based on their past lives. Abyssal is reserved for dark and evil souls where they are tormented and isolated for eternity."

Phil's eyes went wide.

"Please tell me we aren't going there."

That was when Drake One's alarm went off and all the team gathered as the screen showed the location of the latest disturbance.

"Well it looks like Abyssal is where it is.", Tanya said with a grim look on her face, "Also says that the other three are disrupted as well.

Phil instantly looked pale.

"Guys..I think I should sit this out because-"

"Did I mention that Abyssal has a part where there is endless riches just ripe for the taking?", Canard asked cutting Phil off and with a sneaky expression on his face.

Phil instantly looked at the ready with a fearless expression.

"Let's do it."

And in less than five minutes, the two Aerowings were flying out. On board the second one, Adam was seated in the air by using his power.

"Oh I miss this feeling.", he admitted.

Derek shivered, but then settled.

"Well, it's good to have that back in our arsenal again."

/

As the two Aerowings got close, the radar started to beep faster.

"The disturbance is close.", Wildwing said firmly, "Wonder what the afterlives here are like."

As if to answer him, the Aerowings halted right in midair before a thick wall of clouds that went on for what looked like forever.

"Don't tell me we have to pass this thing.", Phil said getting a bit scared.

That was when the clouds parted revealing three huge doors on what looked like a bare piece of land.

"That's the afterlives?", Klegghorn asked, "I was hoping for-"

"The afterlives are behind the doors.", Canard said plainly, "Looks like we travel on foot from here."

One door rattled and then flew open unleashing a tide of dark demonic looking shades heading right for the planes.

"Ducks, we got company!", Adam screamed.

Both planes opened fire as Wildwing and the ducks on board the first Aerowing got out with Klegghorn, Thrash and Mookie on board.

"We'll stay and help out.", Thrash said giving a thumbs up.

As the shades fell, the group got to the doors.

"So which door do we go through?", Mallory asked.

Nosedive looked a bit unsure.

"Um, not to sound a bit uneasy, but isn't this episode going to have a select few of us go?", he asked(breaking the fourth wall as usual).

That was when most of the group warped away and only Wildwing, Canard, Nosedive and Morpha remained.

"Me and my big fat beak.", Nosedive said looking apologetic, "Sorry bro."

Wildwing shrugged.

"Well, I guess we have to find our friends again.", he said before radioing the Aerowing and seeing that the ducks that warped away were there, "Never mind."

As the rest of the team got together at the doors again, the doors slowly opened bathing the area in bright light. As the ducks regained their sight, they found themselves on a vast barren landscape where rusting armor and gray sands were seen for miles and miles while the sky looked cloudy at sunset giving the area a more foreboding look.

"Where are we?", Duke asked.

"The middle ground of the three.", Canard said smiling, "Purgatory."

"This?", Klegghorn asked clearly not believing what he was seeing, "It looks more like a battleground that time forgot about and clearly still forgetting."

A strong gust picked up causing some dust to swirl into little tornadoes, but besides that, nothing else happened. Grin looked a bit haunted.

"The living aren't supposed to trespass into the realm of death.", he said sagely, "It disturbs that which shouldn't be."

"Like what?", Phil asked.

/

Adam flinched and the others noticed.

"You okay?", Thrash asked him.

"Yeah.", Adam admitted, "Just...feeling a bit scared about being here."

Canard shrugged.

"I know. But we're not solving the disturbances here if we're just standing around. We have to find what's going wrong here and fix it."

Wildwing nodded and turn to the others.

"Okay, BRAWN and Foxy will stay behind and watch Derek and Rosie's family while the rest of us head out."

BRAWN gave a salute.

"You can count on me el capitan."

Phil didn't look worried.

"This is going to be fun."

Morpha put it's nose to the ground and started sniffing for a bit before giving a bark and darting off.

"Hey, looks like Morpha's got something.", Julia stated, "Let's find out what it is."

Before they could go anywhere, Morpha reappeared carrying a light pink cloth in his mouth which he presented to Wildwing.

"What's that?", Mookie asked.

Wildwing did a quick scan with his mask and turned to the others.

"Ducks, this is part of Lucretia's outfit."

"As in she's here?", Danielle asked getting a bit scared.

"But didn't Adam killer her during our last season?", Nosedive asked(breaking the fourth wall as usual).

"He did.", Canard said calmly, "And when she fell, the Fallen claimed her soul."

"The Fallen?", Mallory asked, "Who's that?"

A car beeping brought the ducks to look and see Morpha had shifted into the Migrator with it's doors open.

"I'll explain on the way.", Canard said as the ducks filed in.

As they took their seats, Morpha formed a flight attendant in the center of the room.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please direct your attention to the center of the cabin. For your safety, please make sure your seat belts are fastened and keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. Should we encounter any emergency, please refer to the safety packet located in the glove compartment above the sink. In the likely event we experience a sudden drop of cabin pressure, oxygen will be provided. Thank you for traveling with us and have a pleasant cruise."

Morpha retracted the attendant he formed and before the ducks could say anything, Morpha sped across the landscape like a race car.

Draco looked outside as the doors opened. The blizzard had past and the sky looked clear after he was temporarily blinded by the light reflecting off the snow. The air was still freezing, but the special ruby that Laryx had provided him helped ward it off. Cautiously, he stepped into the snow and was met with a chilly sensation, but he grew into it as Gerazi, Harzep, and Darcel came out with him.

"Looks like the storm has passed.", Harzep said plainly, "We should be able to arrive at the kingdom in a day or two."

"Or you could go the other way."

The group turned to see Laryx standing nearby with a smile on his elderly face.

"What way is that?", Darcel asked arching an eyebrow.

Laryx issued the group to follow him and led them down a hallway to a set of stairs that led further downward. As they descended, the sound of rushing water came to their ears.

"Is that a river?", Draco asked.

Laryx nodded.

"Go on."

"And this river...leads to the kingdom...underneath the frozen land above.", Draco concluded.

Laryx had by now led the group to a set of docks where a boat was floating serenely on a slightly moving river that spanned a good distance across. The boat had a tall back and front (like a Viking ship of old), but there were no oarsmen and oars.

"Where's the crew?", Gerazi asked.

Laryx's smile didn't fade.

"You are the crew.", he said as he stepped aboard, "Think of it as a test. One that focuses on team effort."

"So we have to work together to get the boat down the river to the kingdom and not crash it?", Draco guessed.

"Correct.", Laryx told him, "You are wise for your age."

Darcel and Gerazi took one side of the boat while Draco and Harzep took the other. Laryx untied the boat and after a slight push, it floated into the slow current. As Draco took an oar, Harzep gave him an assuring smile.

"Fear not your highness. I can pull both our weight if you feel a bit scared."

Draco felt better as he slid the oar into the water. They had sailed serenely along and Draco noticed drawings on the cavern walls as they passed. Some were of saurian hunts, others were of gatherings, and the rest he couldn't describe. Laryx saw this and chuckled.

"A glimpse of the past can help one move forward."

Darcel rolled his eyes.

"In other words, Draco can learn from his past so he doesn't repeat past mistakes?", he guessed.

As they further went down, another boat came from the opposite direction and the crew there had clearly strong rowers.

"Good to see you Laryx.", a member called over, "New arrivals?"

"Yep.", Laryx answered, "Prince Regum Draco of the Annectia Sea come to pay us a little visit."

"Hi Draco!", the other crew members of the other boat called out in unification.

Draco felt a bit embarrassed, but brushed it away. He had to focus on the rowing, but he gave a smile and a wave to the other boat before it sailed off out of sight.

"So the Fallen rules Abyssal which is the afterlife for dark souls of those who dies here in Dimensional Limbo.", Wildwing said putting everything together, "Purgatory is the middle ground where the forces of Abyssal and Highark fight to a stand still to demonstrate the endless conflict between light and dark. And for some reason something is not going the way is should and that's why we're here."

"Yeah pretty much.", Canard said plainly with a shrug.

"Who rules Highark?", Klegghorn asked.

"Unknown.", Canard said, "But whoever it is, it can hold it's own against the Fallen."

Thrash and Mookie were clearly excited.

"We can't believe we actually get to see an afterlife.", Thrash said clutching his nunchaku, "Can't wait to get there."

"Don't rush things Thrash.", Duke said calmly, "We don't know what we'll find on the way there."

Clyde nodded as he noticed Adam massage his saurian wings.

"Think you can use your powers clearly now?", he asked.

Adam raised a hand and a glass of water floated to his open hand. As he touched it, the liquid turned from clear to light pink before he drank from it.

"Yeah it's there.", Adam concluded.

The loud sounds of battle rang out and a fortress on the horizon brought the ducks' attention.

"Looks like we got a fight on our hands.", Mallory said getting Sword out.

As the ducks got prepared for battle, the fighting became clearer. Dark demonic monstrous beings were swarming from one direction while a glowing brigade of angelic beings came from another side and the fortress was right in the center of it.

"That's the rift?", Klegghorn asked.

Then Morpha had a large bang explode right in front of it, but it quickly stopped and the ducks got out as it shifted back into it's dog form.

"So you came."

The ducks froze.

"Is that who I think it is?", Wildwing asked looking a bit scared.

A massive dark mist flowed from the ground and formed a familiar face who looked at the group with a sinister smile.

"Hello boys. Miss me?"

Danielle looked alarmed.

"Lucretia?", she asked, "What happened to you?"

Lucreita's smile grew bigger.

"I inherited a great deal of power from a new friend.", she purred as she stroked her black flame wreathed wings, "And with it, I can finally make my mark."

Adam balled his hands into fists.

"I put you down before sister, and I'll put you down again."

"Oh brave words from you brother.", Lucretia snickered, "But I assure you that this time, I will be the one who prevails. Just like this tide you see here."

The ducks noticed that the demonic foes were pushing the angelic forces back making the place darker and more foreboding. They then turned to Lucretia who cackled like a witch as she began fading away.

"Tell Drake I look forward to meeting him. That way I can feel much better after I cast his echo into the most foul chambers of Abyssal to be tormented and isolated for the rest of eternity!"

Wildwing clutched his mask looking determined.

"Over my dead body DeCoy.", he told her as she finished fading away and turned to the others, "Let's kill some demons ducks!"

And with that, Wildwing and Canard led the charge towards the fortress with some ducks getting their enchantium magic out.

"Let's get ready to rumble!", Nosedive called out.

To be continued...
